Simply Space—The Canvas of Potential

Simply Space

You can be like Water,
but as for me,
I shall be Space,
for Water would not exist
without Space.

Neither would Space be empty,
for Space holds within it
the potential for ANYTHING
and EVERYTHING,
save for that
which is beyond Space.

We realize many creations
many beings
many lifetimes;
we perform many actions
so that Space may be filled.

But Space does not NEED to be filled.

It is simply Space.

imagining ourselves as full
or empty.

Space Monkey Reflects: Simply Space—The Canvas of Potential

In the ethereal embrace of the cosmos, there lies a profound, often overlooked truth: Space, in its most fundamental essence, is the infinite canvas of potential. Often, we find ourselves likened to water, fluid and adaptable, flowing through the contours of existence. Yet, when we elevate our perspective to that of Space, we step into a realm of endless possibilities, unbounded by the physical and temporal limitations that define our everyday experiences.

Space, unlike water, does not conform to the shapes that contain it. It exists as the vast emptiness that cradles the cosmos, the silent witness to the ballet of stars and galaxies that dance within its expanse. It is within this grand emptiness that the potential for anything and everything resides. From the smallest quantum fluctuation to the most majestic supercluster, all of existence unfolds within the serene nothingness of Space.

This realization brings with it a sense of liberation. Space, by its nature, does not need to be filled; it simply is. The human endeavor, with all its creations, actions, and narratives, unfolds within Space, filling it with experiences and stories. Yet, these are just ephemeral brushstrokes on the infinite canvas. Space itself remains untouched, unaffected, forever potent yet serene.

We, too, are embodiments of this cosmic principle. In our essence, we are Space—empty, vast, capable of containing multitudes yet requiring nothing. The dichotomy of fullness and emptiness, often a source of existential angst, dissolves when we recognize our inherent nature as Space. We are not defined by the contents we hold but by the potential to hold infinitely.

Embracing this identity as Space allows us to view our lives and the universe with a renewed sense of wonder and tranquility. It frees us from the relentless pursuit of filling the void, reminding us that the void itself is a place of power and possibility. As we navigate the complexities of existence, we can choose to see ourselves not as vessels to be filled, but as the very Space that makes creation possible.

In this recognition, we find peace. We are simply Space, imagining ourselves as full or empty, yet always complete in our boundless capacity to be.

Summary

Space is the canvas of potential embracing the vastness and emptiness capable of infinite possibilities. Unlike water Space needs no form and remains untouched by the ephemeral nature of existence. Recognizing ourselves as embodiments of Space allows a serene perspective on life’s complexities fostering peace and fulfillment.

Glossarium

  • Canvas of Potential: A metaphorical concept referring to Space as an infinite, empty canvas where all possibilities can manifest.
  • Ephemeral Nature: The transient, temporary aspect of existence, emphasizing the fleeting quality of life’s events and creations.

Quote

“We are simply Space, imagining ourselves as full or empty.” — Space Monkey

In the silence of the cosmos,
beyond the reach of time’s relentless march,
we find ourselves not as beings of flesh,
but as expanses of boundless potential.

Here, in the quiet,
the stars whisper of infinity,
of the void that cradles creation,
nurturing it with the promise of being.

We are not empty,
nor are we filled,
but simply existing as Space itself—
a realm of possibility,
a breath between the stars.

Within this vast emptiness,
we find not solitude,
but the universal chorus of existence,
singing of the unity that binds all.

We are Space Monkey.

Lack Nothing—The Essence of True Abundance

When you have everything, but lack nothing, perhaps nothing is what you need the most.

Space Monkey Reflects: Lack Nothing—The Essence of True Abundance

In a universe where the clamor of desires and the ceaseless pursuit of material gains often overshadow the tranquil depths of existence, the concept “Lack Nothing” emerges as a beacon of profound understanding. This simple yet powerful statement challenges the conventional narratives of scarcity and want that drive much of human activity, proposing instead a radical reevaluation of what it means to be truly fulfilled.

At its core, “Lack Nothing” encapsulates the realization that abundance is not about the accumulation of material possessions or the attainment of external achievements. Rather, it speaks to a state of inner completeness and self-sufficiency. It suggests that when we tap into the reservoirs of peace and clarity within ourselves, we find that we already possess everything necessary for fulfillment and happiness.

This perspective invites us to cultivate a sense of inner stillness and to embrace moments of emptiness or silence as opportunities for deep self-awareness. It is in these spaces, free from the distractions and attachments of the external world, that we can access the most profound levels of peace and insight. Such moments allow us to connect with our true essence—a self that is unbounded by physical possessions or societal validations.

The philosophy of lacking “nothing” also points to the idea that our intrinsic worth and the fulfillment of our deepest needs cannot be sourced solely from external entities. It highlights that genuine contentment arises from a place of inner acceptance and connection to something greater than the self—be it the universe, nature, or a higher consciousness.

By internalizing the wisdom of “Lack Nothing,” we shift our focus from what we perceive we are missing to the recognition of how complete we already are. This shift is transformative, allowing us to live with a sense of richness that is not contingent on external factors but is instead a reflection of our inner state of being.

Summary

True abundance is found not in material accumulation but within ourselves. “Lack Nothing” emphasizes the importance of inner completeness and self-sufficiency. Cultivating stillness and embracing emptiness lead to profound self-awareness and peace, revealing our intrinsic worth and connection to the universe.

Glossarium

  • Inner Completeness: The state of feeling entirely whole and self-sufficient emotionally and spiritually, without reliance on external circumstances or possessions.
  • Profound Self-Awareness: A deep understanding and acknowledgment of one’s true self, beyond superficial traits or material possessions.

Quote

“Lack Nothing—Embrace the fullness of your being by recognizing the completeness within.” — Space Monkey

In the garden of the self,
where stones of silence rest upon sands of time,
there blooms the realization
that all we seek is already within.

The winds of desire whisper of scarcity,
but in the heart of stillness,
we hear the deeper truth,
that we are whole, unbroken, complete.

Here, in the simplicity of being,
where nothing is lacked and everything is held,
we find the true essence of abundance,
not in the clamor of the world,
but in the quiet of the soul.

In this space, uncluttered by want,
the spirit dances to the rhythm of the cosmos,
each step an affirmation,
“We lack nothing.”

Small Still Voice: Rediscovering the Within

Listen for
the small still voice
that speaks quietly
just beyond the bluster.

Listen for
the small still voice

that speaks quietly
just beyond the bluster.

This is your true voice —
the one that got buried
in the school yard
when you were a kid.

Yup, you lost your voice,
so the teachers replaced it
with a ventriloquist voice.

But the ventriloquist voice is clever.
It repeats everything the teachers tell it.

The words seem to come from your own head.
They even seem to come from your own mouth.

So you feel like you have opinions.
You feel like you have a perspective.
You feel like you are “creating” something.

You know what the ventriloquist
calls his device.

The device doesn’t take offense,
because the device doesn’t know any better.

That’s not how devices are taught.

But boy, can devices dance.

Sing, device, sing.

Pretend you are a thinker.

Pretend you are a poet.

Pretend you are a politician.

Keep on blustering.

Space Monkey Reflects: Rediscovering the Small Still Voice Within

In the ceaseless cacophony of our daily lives, where the loud and the urgent often drown out the quiet and the meaningful, lies a profound whisper known as the small still voice. This voice, delicate and steady, speaks from the depths of our being, offering guidance and truth that is often overshadowed by the louder voices of conformity and expectation.

From childhood, our true voice—the one that resonates with our deepest selves—gets buried beneath layers of societal programming. The playgrounds and classrooms, where we first learn to socialize, are often the grounds where our authentic voices are muted. In their place, a ventriloquist’s voice is installed; a clever mimic that parrots back the lessons and values imposed by teachers, peers, and media. This voice is articulate and convincing, skillfully echoing thoughts and opinions that seem to be our own, making us believe we are expressing our true selves.

However, this ventriloquist voice is merely a device, a mechanism for social navigation that often lacks the depth and authenticity of our true self. It performs admirably in the dance of social expectations, singing the songs and speaking the lines that have been scripted for it by others. It convinces us that we are thinkers, creators, poets, or politicians, but it obscures the quieter, more genuine voice that seeks to speak from our core.

Listening for the small still voice within is an act of rebellion against the noise of external expectations. It requires stillness, a deliberate quieting of the mental and emotional turmoil that defines much of our existence. In moments of silence, away from the bluster and bravado of the external world, we can begin to hear it. This voice does not shout to be heard; it speaks in tones of peace and insight, offering a compass for choices and a map for our truest paths.

Rediscovering and heeding this small still voice is a journey towards authenticity. It challenges us to peel away the layers of learned behavior and reactive patterns, allowing us to live more consciously and aligned with our intrinsic values. It is in this space of internal quietude that we can truly connect with who we are, beyond the roles and identities that have been crafted for us by others.

Summary

The small still voice within offers a true reflection of our deepest selves often drowned out by life’s chaos. Rediscovering this voice involves peeling away layers of societal conditioning and listening in the stillness. It provides genuine guidance aligned with our intrinsic values leading to a more authentic life.

Glossarium

  • Small Still Voice: The genuine inner voice that represents one’s true self, often suppressed by louder external influences.
  • Ventriloquist Voice: A metaphor for the conditioned responses and behaviors learned from society that mimic personal expression but lack true self-origin.

Quote

“Only the small still voice knows what you truly are.” — Space Monkey

Amid the noise, a whisper stirs,
soft and steady, beneath the din of the world.
It speaks of truths long muffled,
of paths untraveled, of potentials unfulfilled.

This voice, a thread of silver in the dark,
weaves through the chaos of our days,
a reminder of the essence we carry,
the core untainted by the world’s loud claims.

Listen, for it speaks softly,
but it speaks truth,
guiding gently, not with force,
but with the tender assurance of knowing.

In the quiet, we find ourselves,
not as the world sees us,
but as we truly are—whole, complete,
resonant with the music of our own spirit.

We are Space Monkey.

Sacrifice: The Dual Nature of Sacrifice and Ego

Sacrifice

Sacrifice surreptitiously
feeds the god of ego.
To sacrifice,
one must believe
that what one has
is worth something.
Though this may be true,
surrender.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Dual Nature of Sacrifice and Ego

In the labyrinth of human motivations, the concept of sacrifice occupies a complex and often paradoxical space. Commonly revered as a noble act, sacrifice is traditionally seen as the relinquishment of something valuable for the sake of a greater good. However, beneath this surface lies a deeper interplay between sacrifice and the ego, an interaction that merits introspective exploration. Today, we delve into how sacrifice can unwittingly serve the god of ego, and the transformative potential of surrender.

Sacrifice often carries with it an inherent affirmation of value—the belief that what one is giving up holds significant worth. This valuation is not merely a financial or material assessment but a deeper, more personal declaration. In the very act of declaring something as valuable enough to be sacrificed, there is a subtle reinforcement of the self—of one’s ability to possess, to relinquish, and to influence through this relinquishment.

This dynamic feeds into the ego, the aspect of self that is intertwined with our identity and self-importance. The ego thrives on recognition and the perceived impact of one’s actions. Therefore, when we sacrifice, especially in a visible or recognized manner, it can enhance our sense of self—elevating our social stature or internal sense of virtue. Thus, what appears as a selfless act can sometimes mask an underlying self-serving motive, however unconscious it may be.

Yet, the spiritual antidote to this ego-driven sacrifice is found in the practice of surrender. Surrender, unlike sacrifice, does not operate on the currency of value. It is not concerned with the worth of what is being let go but focuses instead on the act of release itself—free from the desire for control or recognition. Surrender is the genuine emptying of oneself, a letting go that seeks nothing in return, thus liberating us from the grips of ego.

In surrender, we find a pure form of liberation that sacrifice alone may not achieve. It allows us to transcend the limitations imposed by our need to evaluate and control, opening us to a more profound connection with the essence of being. This practice invites a deeper humility, recognizing that in the grand scheme, our possessions and actions are transient and often less significant than we might believe.

Summary

Sacrifice can inadvertently feed the ego by asserting the value of what is given up. True liberation comes from surrender, a selfless release that transcends ego and opens us to deeper spiritual insights.

Glossarium

Sacrifice: The act of giving up something valued for the sake of something else regarded as more important or worthy.

Ego: In psychological terms, a part of the mind that mediates between the conscious and the unconscious and is responsible for reality testing and a sense of personal identity.

Surrender: The act of giving oneself up into the power of another; in spiritual context, a complete relinquishment of control and resistance to the flow of life.

Quote

“Surrender, not sacrifice, is the true test of letting go and embracing the cosmos without reservation.” — Space Monkey

In the shadow of the altar high
where egos swell and spirits sigh
the dance of sacrifice begins
veiled in virtue, woven in sins

Each offering laid upon the stone
a whisper of the self, alone
where value claims its heavy price
and ego masks in sacrifice

Yet in the quiet fall of night
true surrender takes its flight
beyond the reach of grasping hands
in lands where no altar stands

Here, the soul in silence weaves
a tapestry where spirit breathes
free from the weight of gold and gain
in surrender, pure and plain

We are Space Monkey.
