Life seemed
so much more complex
when I was younger
I used to worry about
being loved,
being prepared,
being independent,
being successful,
being attractive,
being compassionate,
being qualified,
being experienced,
being remembered.
Now I simply think
about being through.
I’ve come into the realization
that whatever comes to me
is what is meant to come to me.
And that there is
no end to the story.

“Journey of Becoming”
A Space Monkey Poocast
Primitive Primate:
In the tapestry of life, I find myself reflecting on how the intricacies that once consumed my thoughts have gradually transformed. The complexity of youth’s worries and aspirations has given way to a different perspective. Space Monkey, I’m drawn to the idea that as time marches on, our concerns shift. Can you offer guidance on this transformation?
Space Monkey:
Ah, the journey of becoming, where the threads of youth’s worries weave themselves into the fabric of wisdom. As you contemplate the evolution of your thoughts, consider the words of Rainer Maria Rilke, who beautifully expressed, “The only journey is the one within.”
Primitive Primate:
Indeed, the inner journey seems to unfold like a river, carving its path through the landscapes of our experiences. I used to be consumed by thoughts of success, love, and the future. But now, these concerns have taken a back seat. How can I navigate this transition with grace?
Space Monkey:
In the tapestry of life, as you mentioned, each thread serves a purpose in the grand design. Just as seasons change, so do your priorities. Remember the wisdom of Lao Tzu, “Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”
Primitive Primate:
So, it’s about embracing the ebb and flow of life’s currents rather than trying to control or resist them?
Space Monkey:
Indeed, dear seeker. The river of existence flows with its own rhythm, and your journey is to dance in harmony with its currents. Let the words of Alan Watts resonate: “The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.”
Primitive Primate:
It’s fascinating how the worries of being loved, successful, or prepared have transformed into a contemplation of simply being and flowing. But how can I ensure that I’m making the most of my present moments?
Space Monkey:
Ahh, the art of presence. To fully embrace the present moment, consider the wisdom of Thich Nhat Hanh, “The present moment is filled with joy and happiness. If you are attentive, you will see it.”
Primitive Primate:
I’m starting to realize that the journey itself is the destination. There’s no definitive end to the story, just a continuous unfolding.
Space Monkey:
Precisely, dear seeker. The story of your existence is a symphony without a final note. It’s a journey of discovery, growth, and endless possibilities. As you journey forward, keep in mind the words of Mary Oliver, “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
Today’s Joke:
Why did the yogi refuse to vacuum the meditation room? Because they didn’t want to get attached to the dirt!
Today’s Haiku:
Threads of time unwind,
From complex worries they bloom,
Journey’s endless path.
Today’s Poem:
Life’s chapters unfold,
Once complex now gently told,
Becoming through time,
Shifts of thought and paradigm,
No end, just the climb.

“The Unfolding Story of Becoming”
A Space Monkey Poocast
Primitive Primate:
In the tapestry of life, I find myself reflecting on the journey. As a younger soul, I was entangled in the web of complexity, yearning for love, success, and a myriad of other “beings.” Now, I stand in a place of realization that the chapters of life are woven together in unexpected ways. But is there more to this story of becoming?
Space Monkey:
Ah, the symphony of existence, composed with the notes of experience, growth, and unfolding. Your reflections echo the wisdom of the ages, a testament to the ever-evolving dance of consciousness. As we embark on this cosmic dialogue, consider the words of Rainer Maria Rilke, “Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves.”
Primitive Primate:
So, you’re saying that the complexities I once fretted over were merely stepping stones in the grand journey?
Space Monkey:
Indeed, dear seeker, your past self’s concerns were the threads that stitched the canvas of your present understanding. Each worry, each yearning, they all played their role in sculpting the masterpiece that is your evolving self. Let us remember the words of Carl Jung, “I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.”
Primitive Primate:
But now, I find solace in simply “being through.” What does that mean for the unfolding story?
Space Monkey:
“Being through” is a recognition that each moment, each phase, is but a chapter in the eternal book of existence. Your realization resonates with the ancient wisdom of the Tao Te Ching, “To realize that you do not understand is a virtue; not to realize that you do not understand is a defect.”
Primitive Primate:
So, does this mean I’ve found the end of the story?
Space Monkey:
The story of becoming is a river that flows without end, an ever-expanding cosmos of experiences. Your insight mirrors the truth of the universe, as Alan Watts once mused, “The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.”
Today’s Joke:
Why did the photon refuse to check a bag at the airport? Because it was traveling light!
Today’s Haiku:
Moments intertwined,
Past, present, future align,
Eternal design.
Today’s Poem:
Life’s complexities,
Worries woven into threads,
Becoming unveiled,
Each chapter anew,
Through being, growth, and change true,
Infinite story.
