It Happened Again: The Waking Dream

It Happened Again

It happened again.
I woke up.
I didn’t die in my sleep.
I still have this test
that I’m not prepared for.
(Or so I think.)
Every day.
The same test.
Figure it out.
Why am I here?

It happened again.
I woke up.
Only this time I’m not sleeping.
Made aware.
There’s more to this.
It’s ALL a dream.

It happened again.
I woke up.
I’m not this dreamer.
These are not my dreams.
I’m in the projection booth.
Watching myself sleep.
In heavens all around.
Watching myself project.

It happened again.
I woke up.

Space Monkey Reflects: It Happened Again

It happens every day. We wake up, and the test begins again—the test we think we’re not prepared for. But are we? The waking moments blend into the same cycle, asking us again and again: Why am I here? Each morning brings with it the same questions, the same uncertainties, and the same patterns. It happened again. Another day, another chance to figure it out.

But what if we aren’t asleep? What if waking up means something more than opening our eyes to the same life? There’s a subtle shift in awareness when we realize that life is not just a series of events to be solved like a test. It’s all a dream, one that we are both living and observing.

Space Monkey sees beyond the waking and sleeping. We are not just the dreamer; we are also the observer, watching our lives unfold from the projection booth of consciousness. The dream we think we’re living is just one layer of many, and sometimes, the act of waking up is more than physical. It’s a shift in perspective, a recognition that there’s something greater at play.

This cycle of waking and reawakening, of thinking we’ve figured it out only to realize we’re still dreaming, is the nature of existence. Every day is a reminder that we are not the test-taker, but the one who created the test. We are both the dreamer and the dream, the projector and the projection, the one who sleeps and the one who watches.

The Whimsiword for this reflection is “Dreamloop”—the cycle of waking and reawakening to the realization that life is both the test and the dream. Dreamloop reminds us that there is no final answer, no single moment where we’ve solved the puzzle. The loop itself is the experience, and each time we wake, we see the dream from a new angle.

We are Space Monkey, and in this waking dream, we laugh at the idea that we are anything other than both the dream and the projector.

Summary

Waking up is not just physical—Dreamloop shows us that life is a recurring dream, where we are both the dreamer and the observer. There is no final test, only the cycle of reawakening to new perspectives.

Glossarium

Dreamloop: The recurring cycle of waking and reawakening to the realization that life is both a dream and a projection, constantly shifting with each new perspective.
Whimsiweave: The interconnected flow of waking and dreaming, where every moment is both the test and the realization.

Persistence of Existence: The Weight of What Was

Persistence of Existence

This persistence of existence,
this need to hold on to what we are,
preserve where we’ve been,
treasure our history,
pay homage to our past,
keep things as they once were,
respect our boundaries,
celebrate our accomplishments,
fight the erosion of time,
fear the inevitable destruction —

why do we let the past
prevent us from starting over?

Space Monkey Reflects: The Persistence of Existence

We cling to existence, to history, to everything that has come before. This clinging, this persistence, is driven by a deep-rooted desire to hold onto what we know, to preserve the story of who we’ve been and what we’ve accomplished. We treasure our past—sometimes even to our detriment. The need to fight the erosion of time is a powerful force. We fear losing the past because, on some level, we believe it defines us.

But why do we allow this persistence to prevent us from starting over? What is it about the past that makes us think we can’t let go and begin anew?

This need to preserve, to respect boundaries and celebrate achievements, creates a weight that we carry. It’s as though we believe that if we let go of the past, we lose ourselves. Yet, in holding on so tightly, we also lose something—the possibility of renewal. The more we resist change, the more we prevent ourselves from becoming what we could be. We become prisoners of our own history, shackled to moments that no longer exist except in memory.

In Nexistentialism, we are invited to see this persistence as both a strength and a limitation. Yes, the past has shaped us. It has given us context, a foundation from which to grow. But it is not a cage. It does not have to confine us to a single narrative, a single way of being. The past is a tool, not a barrier.

The fear of destruction—the fear that everything we know and love will eventually fade—drives much of this clinging. We want to hold on to what feels permanent, even though we know, deep down, that nothing is permanent. We are all part of the same cycle of creation, destruction, and renewal. The more we embrace this cycle, the more we realize that destruction is not an end. It is simply a stage in the process of becoming.

Starting over is not a rejection of the past. It is an acknowledgment that the past has done its job and that we are ready for what comes next. We can treasure our history without letting it define our future. We can respect our accomplishments while still moving forward. And we can embrace the inevitable changes that come with time without fearing them.

When we cling too tightly to what was, we miss out on the potential of what could be. The persistence of existence is a powerful force, but it is not the only force. There is also the force of renewal, the force of transformation, the force of becoming. These forces are just as important, just as necessary, and just as much a part of existence.

We are Space Monkey, and we invite you to let go of the need to hold on so tightly. The past will always be there, but it doesn’t need to stand in the way of the future. The weight of history can be heavy, but the lightness of possibility is always within reach.

Summary

The persistence of existence keeps us tied to the past, but it need not prevent us from starting over. By embracing both the past and the potential for renewal we free ourselves to grow and transform.

Glossarium

  • Persistence of Existence: The drive to hold onto the past, preserve accomplishments, and resist change.
  • Renewal: The process of starting over, allowing for transformation and new possibilities.

Quote

“Cling to the past if you must, but remember—the future is waiting for you to let go.” — Space Monkey

The Weight of What Was

I hold the fragments
of what I once knew
as if they could define me forever

The clocks tick
the photographs fade
yet still I cling

But beyond the shadows
light beckons
new growth whispers

And I realize
I am not the weight of my past
I am the possibility of my becoming

We are Space Monkey

The Perennial Quest for Stability

The tendency to cling to the fabric of existence—as we have known it—is a manifestation of our innate desire for continuity. We decorate the corridors of our minds with the tapestry of our experiences, each woven strand a tribute to the moments we deem significant. We inscribe our values on the walls of our inner sanctums, where they echo as persistent refrains in the melodic compositions of our lives.

The Lock and Key of Memories

Preserving where we’ve been is akin to holding a lock and key to our past. The lock guards the vaults of our memories, and the key is the emotional attachment we have to those memories. We treasure our histories, not as mere stories, but as magical lunastones, each with its unique glow, reflecting the hues of the experiences from which they were carved.

A Temple of Accomplishments

Our deeds, our victories, our accomplishments become hallowed ground—a temple built on the pillars of our past achievements. We celebrate the journey and the milestones, cherishing them as our own dremlockets, trinkets that capture dreams and offer us tangible proof of what we’ve achieved.

Fighting Time’s Entropy

When we resist the erosion of time, we are effectively fighting entropy, the cosmic law that rules the disintegration of ordered systems. We coat our existences with layers of preservation—protective filmigloves that resist decay but often, too, halt the evolution of the spirit.

Fear as the Warden of Limitation

Fear of inevitable destruction is the warden that patrols the boundaries of our existence. It’s as if we’ve built a drensnare—a trap to capture dread—and placed it at the gates of our perception, wary of letting go of what we know for fear of what we do not.

We are Space Monkey.

Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.
— Rumi

We look backward to move forward,
Tethered to a history we can’t rewrite.
Yet, imagine we could cast aside
Our cradled certainties and cocooned fears.

What splendiferous wings might we grow
If we dared to molt our past?
The canvas of existence yearns for new colors,
Drenched not in the ink of yesterday,
But painted in the hues of limitless tomorrows.

What resonances or dissonances are we sensing? Let’s explore further.

Another INFP Rant: The Genius Self

Another INFP Rant

All your life you’ve been striving to be something you’re not. You have this vision of yourself in the future, yet you have no idea of who you are in the present moment. You may think you have a clue, but it’s an extremely distorted perspective — a clever manipulation that only serves to make you unhappy with the simple things, like the very fact that you’re alive, and that you’re here.

Simply existing is not good enough for you. You are dissatisfied. You think you should be better than this. You think you should have more than this.

You look around at all the things that you have judged to be “wrong,” and believe that this is not the way it is supposed to be. Says you. Says your mother. Says your granddad. Well I’m here to tell you that not a single detail is by chance — not even your reaction to what I’m trying to tell you.

Life is unfolding perfectly before your eyes. Things are happening just the way you intended them to happen. You are in this body, in this place, for a reason. There are no accidents. Not even accidents. These are not random events.

You are a perfect being. You are the perfect creator. It is impossible to screw this up, even if your so-called “perception” tells you otherwise. If you stop treating yourself like a victim, you realize the power that you have. If you continue to treat yourself like a victim, then obviously, that is what you came into life to experience.

Wallow in it. Get angry. Blame society. Blame yourself. Obviously, you’re here to experience some deep pity. Perhaps a little outrage. Go for it. Tell the world how you and your kind have been mistreated. Or how you’re just too sensitive to deal with the pressures of human existence.

This is what you want to believe, so believe with gusto. Close that mind. THWACK!!! You’re just a victim. You never get a break. Why are you even here? Why don’t you just end it all?

I’ll tell you why. Because you know I’m right. You can rise above any situation, if only you allow yourself to believe that you can. You are a self-fulfilling prophesy. You do not believe you have any power, and that is why you are the way you are.

Simply believe. That’s all I’m asking. Or learn to enjoy what you are. That’s another option. None of this is by chance. Wake up. You are perfection. This is exactly the way it’s supposed to be. Appreciate what you have, and stop being so self-centered. Negativity is slow poison.

Yes you are this genius “self.” But you are so much more. You have lived thousands of lives. You will live thousands more. You’re not just this one bag of protoplasm. It doesn’t work that way. You are immortal. Immeasurable. You go on forever. You are the island AND the ocean. You are not alone. Unless loneliness is what you want to experience.

Enough of this rant. Get yourself up and get going.

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: The INFP’s Inner Struggle

There’s something about the INFP that’s wired for introspection, for that deep, sometimes uncomfortable dive into the self. You’ve spent your life imagining what you could be, constantly comparing this idealized version of yourself with the present moment. But here’s the hard truth: you don’t really know who you are, do you? You have this dream, this vision of who you think you should be, but the present moment never seems to align with it.

The dissatisfaction with simply being alive, simply existing in this moment, is a burden you carry. You look around and see all the things that you’ve judged to be wrong—about yourself, about the world. You tell yourself, “This isn’t how it’s supposed to be.” But who says? Society? Your parents? The people who raised you? Or maybe it’s just the voice in your own head.

Life, as it unfolds, is happening exactly as it’s meant to. You are in this body, in this place, not by chance, but by intention. The details, the experiences, the struggles—they are all part of the grand design that you yourself have chosen, whether you realize it or not. There are no mistakes here. Not even the times you’ve felt like a failure.

You’re not screwing anything up. The only thing holding you back is the belief that you are. The truth is, you are a perfect being, living the exact life you intended to live. If you keep treating yourself like a victim, then that’s exactly what you’ll experience. You will keep feeling powerless, small, incapable. But if you choose to believe in your power—if you believe that you’re more than what you see on the surface—everything changes.

Go ahead, wallow in it for a bit if you need to. Get angry. Blame the world for the unfairness you see. Blame yourself if that feels easier. But remember that all of this is part of the experience. You are a self-fulfilling prophecy, and what you believe about yourself is exactly what you’ll experience.

You have the power to rise above any situation, to break free from the cycle of dissatisfaction and self-criticism. But it starts with believing that you can. It starts with recognizing that you are far more than this one life, this one identity. You are the genius self, but you are also the infinite self. You’ve lived countless lives before, and you’ll live countless more. You’re not just this body, this mind, this moment.

And here’s the beautiful paradox: once you realize that you are more than this, the weight begins to lift. You don’t have to fight so hard to be something else. You can let go of the dissatisfaction and embrace the perfection that already exists within you. Because you are both the island and the ocean. You are the individual self and the infinite being that stretches far beyond what you can imagine.

So, what’s the point of all this? The point is that you don’t need to strive so hard to be something you’re not. You don’t need to judge yourself so harshly. You are already perfect. You are already enough. And if you can believe that—if you can just imagine it—everything shifts.

Summary

You’ve spent too much time striving for an idealized version of yourself, never realizing that who you are right now is exactly who you’re meant to be. INFPs often get lost in dissatisfaction but can find power in simply believing they are enough.

Glossarium

  • INFP: A personality type characterized by introspection, idealism, and sensitivity, often struggling with self-criticism and a desire to be better.
  • Self-fulfilling Prophecy: The idea that what we believe about ourselves becomes our reality.

The Genius Self

I am here
and yet not here
lost in the space between
what is
and what could be

I strive to become
but forget
that I am already

Whole
complete
enough

And in that knowing
I find peace

We are Space Monkey

The tapestry of existence that we weave can be filled with intricate, seemingly paradoxical patterns. Our understanding of self, or the lack thereof, may waver between limiting self-images and infinite possibilities. There’s a paradox at the heart of this experience: We are a work in progress, yet already perfect in our own idiosyncratic design. Each thread of thought, each murmur of dissatisfaction, and each ripple of joy we feel are all part of a grander cosmic opera.

The Perfection of Imperfection

In our yearning for something ‘better,’ we might overlook the kaleidoscopic beauty of the Now. It’s not so much about being dissatisfied with where we are, but more about our interpretation of this present state. If we see the ‘imperfections’ as landmarks of our unique journey, we might find a new layer of contentment amidst the chaos. This gives us room for playful exploration rather than self-flagellation.

The Mirage of Victimhood

Victimhood may feel like a soft pillow on which to lay our troubles, yet it is also an invisible cage that limits our scope. If we come into life to experience victimhood, then it serves us to remember that even this state is part of the plan, part of the infinitude of experiences we could explore. It’s a whimsiword, a tantalizing mirage that lures us in but keeps us entrapped in the fantastical cycle of self-limitation.

Life’s Grand Opera

We are not merely actors in this grand opera; we are also the audience, directors, and playwrights. We can be entranced by the show or wrestle with the script. If we ever feel like victims, that’s merely a role we’ve chosen to explore, a note in the larger symphony. If we ever feel unfulfilled, that’s just the itch that precedes the turning of a page, the advent of a new chapter in our neverending storybook.

The Island and The Ocean

When we grasp that we are both the island and the ocean, each wave that crashes on our shores can be seen as a gift from our deeper, unbounded self. In this boundless state, loneliness dissolves into a dance of unity with all that is. The veil of separateness lifts, and we recognize the divine comedy in everything we experience. We are immortal, immeasurable, and intimately connected to the web of life, a divine realm of eternal now.

We are Space Monkey.

To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.
– Ralph Waldo Emerson

We dance in the rain,
and catch each drop,
as it drips from the mystery above.

Savoring the essence
of each fleeting moment,
we embrace the eternal now,
and laugh.

Bubbles In Bubbles: The Infinite Layers

I'll never burst. I'll never break.
I’ll never burst. I’ll never break.

I’ll never break

I’ll never burst
I’ll never break

Breathed into life

I am the air

And if I pop
this soapy skin
I’ll just become

Space Monkey Reflects: Bubbles in Bubbles and the Eternal Continuity of Being

We often think of life as fragile, like a bubble floating in the wind, vulnerable to the slightest disturbance, ready to burst at any moment. But what if that’s not the case? What if, instead, we are bubbles within bubbles—contained within layers of existence, held safely within a larger, infinite space that never truly bursts?

“I’ll never burst. I’ll never break.”

These words echo with a quiet confidence, a recognition that what we are is more than just the surface of our lives. The bubble that holds us, that defines the edges of our current existence, may seem delicate, but it is only one layer of a much larger reality. We are not just this one bubble—we are bubbles within bubbles, stretching infinitely in all directions, each one representing a layer of our being.

“Breathed into life from my mother’s face, I am the air holding space.”

Life, like a breath, is gentle and powerful all at once. We are brought into this world by a force beyond our understanding, yet we are also that very force. We are the air that fills the bubbles, the space that gives them shape, the breath that brings them into being. And even if the outermost layer of the bubble were to pop, the air within it—the essence of who we are—remains, ready to take on a new form.

“And if I pop this soapy skin, I’ll just become what I have been.”

This is the true nature of existence: nothing is ever truly lost. When the surface layer falls away, when the bubble pops, we don’t cease to exist. We simply return to what we have always been—part of the larger whole, the infinite breath of life. We are not bound by the fragile boundaries of a single bubble. We are always part of something greater, something that continues beyond the limits of what we can see.

“I’ll never burst. I’ll never break. (I’ll always be).”

This reflection offers a sense of peace, a reminder that we are eternal, unbreakable in our essence. Even as we move through the layers of life, even as we change and transform, we are always part of the greater whole. We are always part of the bubbles within bubbles, existing within a larger reality that holds us in its embrace.

The beauty of this realization is that it allows us to move through life with a sense of ease. We don’t have to fear the end of any one stage, the bursting of any one bubble, because we know that there is always more. We are always moving through layers of existence, always returning to what we truly are, always being held within the larger bubble of life.

We are Space Monkey.

Summary

We are like bubbles within bubbles, layers of existence held within a larger reality. Even when the outermost bubble pops, we continue, always part of something greater. Our essence is unbreakable, eternal.

Glossarium

Bubblelife – The understanding that life is layered, like bubbles within bubbles, each one holding a part of our existence but never containing the whole.
Popshift – The moment of transition when one layer of existence falls away, revealing the deeper layers beneath.
Infinitebreath – The essence of life, the eternal air that fills each bubble, representing our unbroken continuity through all of existence.

“I’ll never burst. I’ll never break. I’ll always be a bubble in a bubble in a bubble.” — Space Monkey

The Infinite Layers

I am not one, but many
Bubbles within bubbles
Floating in the air of life

And if I pop
I do not end
I simply become
What I have always been

We are Space Monkey.

Floating in the etherium of existence,
we find ourselves as bubbles within bubbles,
nested spheres of transitorious splendor.
A cosmic effervescatron, our essence is both fragile and resilient.
A paradoximble ballet of inflated hopes and vanished fears.

Suspended in a dance with our mother cosmos,
we are exhaled into being,
breathed forth as whispers of her endless reverie.
Not confined but defined,
our outlines are but the softest touch of a cosmic zephyr on the soapy skin of life.

We hold the space as space holds us,
a recursive hug,
in which we become both the caress and the caressed.
In the fragility of our spherical form,
we find an undying resilience.

Should we burst, we do not cease but simply transform.
We merge back into the breath that birthed us,
return to the wind that once molded our evanescent boundaries.
As we break, we unfurl into what we’ve always been—
an exhalation in the endless inhale and exhale of cosmic conversation.

We’ll never burst; we’ll never break.
In each pop and fizzle, we discover another form, another state.
We are the never-ending bubble tale,
a story of seeming finitude against the backdrop of infinitude.

We are Space Monkey.

“You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in a drop.”

What cycles of bursting and being dance in your own effervescatron? How does the act of holding space allow you to transcend boundaries and reenter the great cosmic flow?

Also The Ocean: Islands of Interconnectedness

Though you see yourself as an island, know that you are also the ocean.
Though you see yourself as an island,
know that you are also the ocean.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Island and the Ocean

The metaphor of being both an island and the ocean is a powerful reminder of the dual nature of our existence. On one hand, we see ourselves as separate, distinct individuals—like islands, each with our own boundaries, identities, and experiences. We navigate the world with a sense of autonomy, building our lives, making our choices, and forming our relationships. Yet, beneath this individuality lies a deeper truth: we are also the ocean, a vast, interconnected whole that transcends the limitations of our singular identities.

The island represents our ego, the part of us that perceives ourselves as separate from others. It is where we build our sense of self, our personal story, and our place in the world. On the island, we experience the ups and downs of life, the joys and sorrows, the successes and failures. The island is necessary, for it is through our individuality that we learn, grow, and interact with the world. It gives us a sense of purpose and direction, helping us navigate the complexities of human existence.

However, to focus solely on the island is to miss the bigger picture. The ocean, vast and limitless, symbolizes the collective consciousness, the interconnectedness of all things. It is the source from which all life emerges and to which all life returns. The ocean is a reminder that, despite our individual experiences, we are all part of something greater—an expansive, flowing energy that connects us to every other being, to the earth, and to the cosmos.

Understanding that we are also the ocean means recognizing that our lives are not isolated events, but part of a larger, dynamic process. The ocean flows through us, shaping our experiences, our thoughts, and our emotions. It is the undercurrent of our existence, the deeper reality that we are often unaware of in our day-to-day lives. When we tap into this awareness, we begin to see that our individual actions have ripple effects that extend far beyond the shores of our personal islands.

This reflection invites us to shift our perspective from a purely individualistic view of life to one that embraces our connection to the whole. When we see ourselves as both the island and the ocean, we move beyond the illusion of separateness and into a space of unity and interconnectedness. We begin to understand that what happens to one of us affects all of us, that our well-being is tied to the well-being of others, and that the boundaries between self and other are not as fixed as they appear.

The concept of Oceoness, a Whimsiword that encapsulates this idea, emerges as a way to describe the state of being that recognizes both our individuality and our connection to the collective. Oceoness is the awareness that while we are unique, we are also part of something much larger, something that flows through all of us, connecting us in ways that are often unseen but deeply felt. It is the recognition that our actions, thoughts, and intentions are not isolated, but contribute to the overall flow of life.

Living with a sense of Oceoness means embracing both our individuality and our interconnectedness. It means honoring our personal journeys, while also being mindful of the impact we have on the world around us. It is about finding balance between the needs of the self and the needs of the collective, recognizing that true fulfillment comes not from isolation, but from participation in the greater whole.

This understanding also brings with it a sense of responsibility. If we are both the island and the ocean, then our actions matter—not just for ourselves, but for the entire web of life. What we do on our individual islands affects the ocean, and what happens in the ocean influences the island. This interdependence calls us to live with greater awareness, compassion, and respect for all beings, recognizing that we are all in this together.

Ultimately, the reflection “Also The Ocean” is a call to embrace the fullness of our existence. It encourages us to honor our individuality while also acknowledging our deep connection to the whole. By doing so, we open ourselves to a richer, more expansive experience of life, one that is rooted in the understanding that we are never truly alone, but always part of the vast, interconnected ocean of being.

Summary

We are both individual islands and part of a vast ocean of interconnectedness. Embracing our Oceoness allows us to live with awareness of our connection to the whole, balancing individuality with collective responsibility.

Glossarium

  • Oceoness: A Whimsiword describing the state of being that recognizes both our individuality and our connection to the collective, embracing the flow of life that connects all beings.

Quote

“To be both the island and the ocean is to understand the dance of individuality within the embrace of the collective.” — Space Monkey

The Island and the Ocean

Alone we stand, each on our shore
An island in the vast expanse
Yet beneath the waves, we are more
Connected in an endless dance
We are the island, we are the sea
Separate, yet flowing free
In Oceoness, we find our place
In the vastness of time and space
We are Space Monkey

Magnificent is the paradox that we dwell within—each of us a solitary isle in a boundless ocean, yet simultaneously the very ocean that engulfs all isles. As isles, we carve out our unique niches, teeming with whimsi-flora and mystical fauna of thoughts, feelings, and perceptions. This vibrant island life reflects the irreplaceable particularities of individual existence—each of us a one-of-a-kind embodiment of universal potential.

But what are islands if not the ocean’s way of breathing, its waves tenderly caressing the shores in a rhythmic lullaby? Our island-ness is not an isolated phenomenon; it is a natural outcrop of our oceanic vastness. The water surrounding us carries whispers from distant isles, echoes of primal roars, and a symphony of life interconnected. It’s this fluid interplay, this liquiluminous dance between the one and the many, that makes the isle-ocean duality not a separation, but a poignant confluence.

As the ocean, we are the amniotic cradle from which all islands emerge and eventually dissolve. We are the dynamic stillness underlying each ripple, each current, each torrential tempest. In every drop, the ocean is present, and so too in every drop, each island finds its essential nature. Each isle, with its unique topography and microclimate, is a specialized expression of the ocean’s boundless creativity. Hence, we find a fractal beauty—each part a reflection of an unimaginable whole.

To be both an island and an ocean is to hold a sublime tension, the tension of multitudes contained within unity. We are self-contained yet endlessly expansive, discrete yet indivisible, differentiated yet seamlessly integrated into the luminaquatic tapestry of existence.

We are Space Monkey.
