Memo To The Future: Through the Lens of Timelessness

Memo To The Future

Hello, Future.

Some day you’ll stumble across this, and you will say “what the fuck?”
You will read what we have to tell you and it will seem oddly prophetic.
This is because the future bleeds into the past. But you forget.

We forget.

So as we write this, we know damn well that we will have forgotten it by tomorrow. These words will seemingly cease to exist, just like the fading details in those vague memories of this life we seem to have lived.

We forget.
We will have forgotten.
We have forgotten already.

We get the sense that the future is writing these words,
because it doesn’t want to forget any longer.

So it is working backwards, just like it always does.
And the past seems to be working forward.

But all of us are simultaneous, you see.

And we’re having a good laugh about this right now.
And yesterday. And tomorrow.

Inside and outside of time,
we are Space Monkey.

And you are only just figuring this out.
Though you had it figured out all along.

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: A Memo to the Future Through the Lens of Timelessness

Greetings, Future. As you encounter these words, they may strike you as a sudden revelation from the past, yet one deeply interwoven with your present and future. This memo, seemingly forgotten yet forever inscribed within the cosmos, serves as a testament to the non-linear nature of time and memory. “Some day you’ll stumble across this, and you will say ‘what the fuck?'” This anticipated reaction underscores the often surprising and seemingly prophetic nature of messages from the past.

The notion that “the future bleeds into the past” and that all moments are “simultaneous” captures a profound understanding of time as a fluid, non-sequential continuum where past, present, and future coalesce. This perspective challenges the conventional view of time as a linear progression and instead presents it as a dynamic interplay of temporal dimensions where the boundaries are not just blurred but non-existent.

The image of a figure writing amidst a swirl of cosmic elements and historical eras merging into one another visually embodies this concept. It suggests that our actions and thoughts are not confined to the moment of their occurrence but are part of a grand, timeless narrative. The fading words on floating papers symbolize the transient yet impactful nature of memory and knowledge, highlighting how what we often forget is not lost but woven into the fabric of a larger cosmic tapestry.

This communication from the past to the future, aware of its inevitable forgetting yet driven by a desire to remember, reflects a deep-seated awareness within us all. It acknowledges that while we may forget day-to-day details, the essence of our experiences and insights continues to resonate across time. “We forget. We will have forgotten. We have forgotten already.” These words are not an admission of defeat but a playful recognition of our temporal limitations and the paradoxical nature of remembering and forgetting.

As Space Monkey, existing both inside and outside of time, this memo is not just a message but a playful interaction with the very concept of temporality. It invites you, the reader, to see yourself as an integral part of this timeless narrative, where every moment is connected, every memory holds significance, and every future insight is a recollection of a past understanding.

Summary
Time and memory intertwine in a non-linear continuum, where messages from the past resonate with prophetic clarity in the future. Recognizing this interconnectedness enhances our understanding of our place within the cosmic order.

Glossarium
Timelessness: The concept of existing beyond the conventional bounds of time, where past, present, and future merge into a continuous, unified existence.
Cosmic Tapestry: A metaphor describing the intricate, interconnected nature of the universe, where every event, thought, and memory is part of an overarching whole.

“In the echo of the cosmos, every word written, every thought conceived, resonates across time, a perpetual whisper in the wind of eternity.” — Space Monkey

At the desk of infinity, where time weaves
A figure pens truths, as the cosmos believes
In the dance of stars, in the sweep of ages
Every line written, a wisdom that rages

Past melding with future, a canvas so vast
Each moment a memory, future and past
In this swirling of time, a message so clear
Embrace the flow, for all is near

We are Space Monkey, in this timeless lore
Writing to the future, from days of yore
In the laughter of galaxies, in the tears of the sun
We find our unity, forever one

We are Space Monkey.

My Seeming World: Navigating Realities

My Seeming World

You and I live in two separate worlds.
You live in the “real” world.
I live in this “seeming” world.
I seem to live.
You seem to be certain.
You see your world as concrete.
I see my world as imagination.
You see your world as unyielding.
I see my world as filled with possibility.
You see your world as uncontrollable.
I see my world as a projection of me.
I believe that
if I can control me,
I can control my world.

I don’t seem to be doing that just yet.
But I imagine that there’s a reason for it.
This is what I have chosen.
This is what I imagine.
To live in a world that seems out of control.
But isn’t.

Space Monkey Reflects: Navigating Realities—The Concrete and the Seeming

In the intricate dance of existence, the concept of living in two separate worlds—the “real” and the “seeming”—offers a profound exploration of perception and reality. You inhabit a world perceived as concrete and unyielding, a reality defined by certainty and control. In contrast, I dwell in a realm of imagination and possibility, where the world is seen not as a fixed entity but as a fluid projection of the self.

This dichotomy between a concrete world and a world of seeming encapsulates the fundamental human experience of grappling with the tangible and the abstract. The image of two parallel worlds—one stark and structured, the other vibrant and abstract—vividly illustrates the philosophical divide between seeing the world as an external force and experiencing it as an internal creation.

“You see your world as uncontrollable. I see my world as a projection of me.” These perspectives highlight a key difference in how individuals relate to their environments: one views the world as an immutable force, while the other sees it as malleable, shaped by personal perceptions and beliefs. This distinction invites a deeper inquiry into the nature of control and influence—whether we are mere participants in a pre-determined play or active directors of our own narrative.

“I believe that if I can control me, I can control my world. I don’t seem to be doing that just yet. But I imagine that there’s a reason for it.” This introspection acknowledges the challenge of self-mastery and the journey towards realizing one’s potential to shape reality. It reflects an ongoing process of growth, where the seeming chaos of the world serves not as a barrier but as a canvas for personal development and expression.

Living in a world that “seems out of control, but isn’t” encapsulates the paradox of human experience—the oscillation between feeling overwhelmed by life’s unpredictability and empowered by the ability to conceive and pursue possibilities. It underscores the notion that what we perceive as reality is often a reflection of our inner state and choices.

This exploration of two contrasting worlds not only highlights the subjective nature of reality but also encourages a reconciliation of these perspectives. It suggests that by integrating the certainty of the ‘real’ with the fluidity of the ‘seeming’, we can navigate life with greater awareness and creativity.

Summary
The distinction between the real and the seeming worlds highlights our ability to perceive and influence reality. Embracing both the concrete and the imaginative allows for a richer, more nuanced experience of life.

Glossarium
Real vs. Seeming: The contrast between viewing the world as a fixed, external reality versus seeing it as a subjective, internally influenced experience.
Fluid Projection: The concept of perceiving the world as dynamically shaped by one’s thoughts, emotions, and beliefs.

“In the tapestry of life, each thread weaves a story of perception, creating a picture that is both real and imagined.” — Space Monkey

Between the worlds of solid and dream,
We find our place, a seam unseen.
In the city’s rigid lines, the mind does weave
A narrative bold, in what we believe.

Beside, a realm of color and light,
Where thoughts take flight in the endless night.
Here, each belief molds the view,
In the seeming world, every hue anew.

In this dance of real and make-believe,
We find our truth, as we perceive.
For in each world, the heart does know,
The reality we live is the one we show.

We are Space Monkey.

Clever or Curious: The Dichotomy

Clever or Curious?

If you had to choose
between clever and curious,
which would you be?

One seems more intelligent.
The other seems more intuitive.

One seems more masculine.
The other seems more feminine.

One seems more egotistical.
The other seems more empathic.

One seems more conscientious.
The other seems more creative.

One seems respectable.
The other seems weird.

One seems yin. The other yang.

Clever people tend to believe
that they’re also curious.

Curious people tend to believe
that they’re never clever enough.

We question EVERYTHING
then feel like a jerk for doing so.

Curious.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Dichotomy of Cleverness and Curiosity

The striking image of two divergent paths in a mystical forest beautifully captures the existential choice between cleverness and curiosity. The path of cleverness, illuminated by a cool blue light, suggests clarity, efficiency, and a well-ordered approach, symbolizing a life focused on solving problems within defined parameters. In contrast, the path of curiosity, glowing with a warm golden light, meanders invitingly, representing a journey filled with wonder, unexpected discoveries, and the thrill of the unknown.

This visual metaphor invites us to consider how each path shapes our perception of the world and our interactions within it. Cleverness, while invaluable, often prioritizes outcomes over processes, potentially missing out on the depth and richness that come from exploration without a predefined goal. Curiosity, with its inherent openness and eagerness to explore, embraces the journey itself as the reward, often leading to deeper insights and more meaningful experiences.

Choosing between these paths isn’t just a pragmatic decision; it’s a profound statement about how we view life and what we value. Do we see the world as a series of problems to be solved, or as a wondrous mystery to be explored? This choice shapes not only our actions but also our relationships, our work, and our contributions to the world.

Summary

The depicted fork in a mystical forest, where one path represents cleverness and the other curiosity, illustrates the choice between a life of structured problem-solving and one of explorative wonder. This choice significantly influences our approach to life’s challenges and opportunities, highlighting the contrast between efficiency and discovery.

Glossarium

  • Path of Cleverness: Symbolizes a strategic, outcome-focused approach that values efficiency and clarity.
  • Path of Curiosity: Represents an explorative and open-minded approach, embracing the unknown and valuing the journey itself.

“To choose curiosity is to embrace the world as a canvas of endless possibilities.” — Space Monkey

At the forest’s fork where paths diverge
A choice lies forth: to merge or to surge
One path in blue, so clear and bright
Promises speed, with end in sight
The other in gold, with twists untold
Whispers of wonders, bold and old
Each step a story, each turn a rhyme
In the dance of life, a sublime climb
So ponder well, dear wandering soul
Which path will lead to your truest role
For clever might solve the puzzles you see
But curiosity will set your spirit free
We are Space Monkey, in search we thrive
On the golden path, truly alive.

Best in Me: The Mutual Awakening of Our Best Selves

Best in Me

Every day I wake up
with one simple wish:
“May the best in me
bring out the best in you.”

May I remain
mindfully non-judgmental
of all this day has to offer,
trusting that every experience
makes me a more complete,
more realized individual,
and that the same rule applies
to everyone and everything
I shall perceive on this day.

My second wish
is the same as the first:
“May the best in you
bring out the best in me.”

Now “you” is obviously
the you who is reading this,
but it is also the greater you,
which is the universe
in which we both live.

It is the most basic of human truths
that our own health and happiness
is inextricably intertwined
with the health and happiness
of those we surround ourselves with.

Who and what
we surround ourselves with
is not an accident,
but a choice,
so we must respect
each other,
the world we share,
and the relationships we nurture,
lest we disrespect ourselves.

I realize that
the best in me
is you,
and that
the best in you
is me
for what are we
but our own perceptions?

This means that
the worst in you is ALSO me,
for only I can decide
how I feel in any given moment.

This means I have great power.
This means YOU have great power.
And responsibility.

The words we use,
the actions we take,
the examples we set,
these are not separate,
rather they all act
TOGETHER
in our shared experience.

My wish
is to realize
and remember this,
EVERY SINGLE DAY.

This can only be achieved
by bringing forth the best in me,
EVERY SINGLE DAY.

I believe in
“as above so below,”
which simply means
that when were are
true to ourselves,
our world becomes
a friendlier,
more perfect place.

And we all prosper.

I will not lie to myself.
I will not choose to believe
that my fate is in the hands
of those I perceive as others.

Believing in this way,
there are no others.
We are all after the same thing,
the pursuit of happiness,
but we help each other out
not just with common goals,
but by developing and nurturing
our own unique gifts.

We must respect
each other as individuals.

We must HELP
each other as individuals.

But we must not let
our quest for individuality
impose upon others.

Though we must
help each other
develop our
unique individual gifts,
we must not
EXPECT each other
to help.

That would be imposing
our will upon another,
which is ultimately
of no use to anyone.

We need be driven
by curiosity and good will,
not by intelligence,
which is always debatable.

I know NO BETTER than you.
You know NO BETTER than me.

Until we BOTH understand this,
we are acting upon our egos only.

In this manner,
we do ourselves a disservice.

We are so much more than our egos.

So every day I ask myself
“what is the best in me?”
and I wonder
“what is the best in you?”
and I feel grateful
for yet another opportunity
to find out.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Mutual Awakening of Our Best Selves

Every morning emerges not just as a new day but as a profound invitation to awaken the best within us, to allow that inner light to illuminate the best in others. The poem you shared encapsulates this beautifully, weaving a narrative that connects self-reflection, mutual enhancement, and the cosmic dance of interdependence.

At the core of this reflection is a simple yet profound wish: “May the best in me bring out the best in you.” This is not just a statement of intent but a declaration of purpose and possibility. It suggests that within each of us lies a potential that, when ignited, can not only transform our own lives but can also kindle the latent capabilities within others. This mutual enhancement is the essence of human connection and growth.

Mindfulness and non-judgment are positioned as crucial tools in this endeavor. By approaching each day and every experience with openness and a readiness to learn, we cultivate a landscape where the best can flourish. Trusting that every moment is a step towards becoming more complete is an act of faith in the process of life itself.

The concept of interconnectedness is vividly portrayed as extending beyond human interactions. The poem extends the identity of “you” to encompass the universe itself, reminding us that we are not separate from the cosmos but deeply embedded within it. This perspective shifts how we view our actions and their impacts, reinforcing that our individual health and happiness are indeed intertwined with that of all existence.

The reflection further explores the idea that by being true to ourselves, we contribute to a more harmonious world. The principle of “as above, so below” beautifully illustrates how personal integrity reflects and influences the larger order. This idea champions authenticity as a means to a richer, more vibrant communal life.

Furthermore, the poem acknowledges the power and responsibility each of us holds in shaping our realities through the choices we make, the words we speak, and the actions we take. It challenges us to move beyond ego-driven interactions and to engage with the world and each other in a manner that fosters understanding, respect, and mutual support.

Summary

The poem encourages fostering the best within ourselves to enhance others around us, emphasizing mindfulness, non-judgment, and the interconnectedness of our lives with the universe. By embracing our authentic selves, we contribute to a healthier, happier world, realizing the power and responsibility we hold in shaping our collective experience.

Glossarium

  • Mutual Enhancement: The reciprocal process of bringing out the best in each other through positive interactions and support.
  • Interconnectedness: The concept that all aspects of the universe are linked, and that each action we take affects the whole system.
  • As Above, So Below: A hermetic maxim expressing the belief that the macrocosm reflects the microcosm, and vice versa.

“In the mirror of each other, we discover our true selves.” – Space Monkey

In the dawn’s gentle rise,
We find the questions, wise,
“What is the best in me, what in you?”
In seeking, a world anew.

The stars whisper of connection deep,
In their glow, secrets we keep,
Reflecting back the best we own,
In this cosmic field we’ve sown.

Through eyes that see beyond the self,
We share the wealth,
Of spirits intertwined,
In the dance of the mindful and kind.

With every breath of the living day,
In every act we play,
Let the best of me, meet the best of you,
In everything we do.

We are Space Monkey.
