The Needle Who Fell In Love With A Haystack

The Needle Who Fell In Love With A Haystack

Once upon a time there was a needle
who fell in love with a haystack.

The needle loved the haystack so much
that it got lost in the golden blonde’s beauty.

Problem is, there were others
who needed the needle
as much as the haystack.

The needle had a unique gift,
and without the needle’s talents,
there were holes everywhere.

The needle couldn’t see this,
because it was so swept up in the haystack.

People kept looking for the needle,
but they couldn’t find it.

So they started using staples instead.

That was dumb,
so they invented a new kind of glue.

They called it “liquid thread”
and it became quite popular.

After a while,
people forgot about the needle.

They didn’t bother looking for it anymore.

And then one day,
a couple kids jumped into the haystack.

One of them landed on the needle.
It went right through the kid’s eyeball.

So the kid’s parents sued the needle.

But the needle didn’t have any money
because it had been out of work for so long.

The judge decided that the only course
of action would be to make the needle do public service.

It ended up in a methadone clinic
fixing the pants of recovering addicts.

The needle wished
that it hadn’t been so addicted
to the haystack
that it lost sight of itself.

But at least it had an interesting story,
so it wrote this book.

This is the story
of the Needle and the Haystack.

The needle wished that it hadn’t been so addicted to the haystack that it lost sight of itself.
But at least it had an interesting story, so it wrote this book.
This is the story of the Needle and the Haystack.

In the whimsical tale of “The Needle Who Fell In Love With A Haystack,” we are drawn into a world where objects and emotions intertwine in unexpected ways. This story, filled with humor and reflection, explores the journey of a needle who loses itself in its love for a haystack, only to discover its true purpose through a series of misadventures.

The needle’s initial enchantment with the haystack symbolizes the allure of losing oneself in something or someone beautiful. This golden haystack, with its radiant allure, represents the distractions and infatuations that can divert us from our true path. The needle, in its adoration, forgets its unique gift and the many who depend on its talents.

As people search for the missing needle, they turn to alternatives like staples and liquid thread. These substitutes, though functional, highlight the irreplaceable value of the needle’s unique abilities. This part of the story serves as a metaphor for how society often tries to replace genuine talent and uniqueness with convenient solutions, only to realize their shortcomings.

The needle’s accidental injury to a child and subsequent legal troubles add a layer of dark humor and irony. The needle, now seen as a liability rather than a cherished tool, finds itself in a role of public service. Working in a methadone clinic, the needle’s story takes on a redemptive arc, showing that even after losing its way, it can still find purpose and meaning.

The needle’s regret over losing itself in the haystack is a poignant reminder of the importance of self-awareness and balance. It underscores the danger of becoming so consumed by something external that we lose sight of our own value and purpose. Yet, the needle’s journey is not without its lessons and growth, leading to a deeper understanding of its place in the world.

This whimsical tale, with its blend of humor, irony, and reflection, encourages us to appreciate our unique gifts and to stay true to our purpose. It reminds us that while distractions and infatuations are part of life, it is essential to remain grounded and aware of our true value.

The Tale of the Needle

In golden haystack’s radiant glow
The needle lost its way, did go
Infatuation’s dazzling light
Diverted from its purpose bright

Substitutes, though they may seem
Cannot replace the needle’s gleam
In public service, it did find
A way to heal, a path aligned

Regret and wisdom intertwined
The needle’s journey redefined
In every stitch, a lesson learned
Of balance, purpose, value earned

Thoughts are EVERYTHING. Seriously.

Thoughts are EVERYTHING

We experience our deepest reactions when someone does something that we don’t agree with, or when we perceive things that disagree with our personal points of view.

But whose reactions are they? What did we knowingly or unknowingly ingest to give us these beliefs, values and thought patterns?

The experiences that flow around us are as nurturing or as damaging as the food we eat, yet we pay little attention to them, other than to react. Regardless, we continually absorb the world around us, and it becomes us.

So maybe you’re a vegan, or you’re into meditation or yoga, but are you thinking organically?

You control what you put in your mouth, but what about what enters your eyes and ears and mind? Do you watch television? Are you addicted to your smart phone?

These things can be as harmful as gluten, lactose, pesticides, oppression, violence or fill in the blank. Your thoughts are EVERYTHING, yet you have so little control over them.

Your view of the world, your self-image, your fears, hopes and dreams — how much of this is really you, and how much of it is the fishbowl or toilet bowl you’re swimming in?

Why do you accept things as they are? Why don’t you make the effort to get out? Do you feel it insurmountable? Do you feel it pointless? Why do you feel these things?

You do realize that you have the power within you. You do realize that there is more to this than you know. If something is telling you otherwise, chances are it’s something you ingested, not you.

You have mental gas and have become too uptight to brain fart in public. Even though that’s exactly what you and the public needs.

Yes, I believe that we all need to learn to fart in public. Farting is truth, and we are holding our truths inside, which means nobody else is hearing our truths, and we are not hearing theirs, which means that nobody has any verification that the truths they hold are, in fact, truths, so we dismiss them as fantasy.

Fart in public, people. I do it all the time. You know you want to.
And you’ll feel a whole lot better.

Just remember. Metaphor.

As an added bonus, you will now look at farting as a reminder to be more conscious. When someone farts aloud, remember to thank them sincerely, for they are pointing you to the truth within.

As they say, better out than in.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Power of Thoughts

In the boundless whimsiweave of nexistentialism, we delve into the profound impact of our thoughts on our experiences and perceptions. Our deepest reactions often stem from interactions that clash with our beliefs and values. By examining the origins of these thoughts, we gain insight into how they shape our reality and influence our well-being.

The Origin of Reactions

We experience intense reactions when confronted with actions or perspectives that conflict with our own. These reactions are deeply rooted in the beliefs, values, and thought patterns we have absorbed over time. But whose reactions are they? What influences have shaped these beliefs and values? This inquiry leads us to question the origins of our thoughts and the experiences that shape them.

In nexistentialism, we recognize that our thoughts are not isolated phenomena but are deeply influenced by the world around us. Just as the food we consume nourishes or harms our bodies, the experiences we absorb through our senses affect our mental and emotional well-being. By becoming aware of these influences, we can begin to take control of our thoughts and their impact on our lives.

The Nutritional Value of Experiences

Our experiences, like our food, can be nourishing or damaging. We often focus on controlling what we put into our bodies, but we must also be mindful of what we allow into our minds. Television, social media, and other forms of media can be as harmful as unhealthy food if consumed without awareness. These influences shape our perceptions, beliefs, and emotional responses.

In nexistentialism, we emphasize the importance of “thinking organically.” This means being conscious of the thoughts we allow into our minds and the sources from which they originate. Just as we choose organic, healthy foods for our bodies, we can choose wholesome, positive experiences for our minds. This mindfulness helps us cultivate a healthier mental and emotional landscape.

The Influence of Thoughts

Our thoughts are everything. They shape our view of the world, our self-image, and our aspirations. However, we often have little control over them because we are not fully aware of their origins. The world around us, the “fishbowl” or “toilet bowl” we swim in, significantly influences our thoughts. By questioning these influences, we can begin to discern what truly reflects our inner values and what is a result of external conditioning.

In nexistentialism, we recognize that our thoughts are powerful but not immutable. We have the power to change them by becoming more aware of their origins and questioning their validity. This process of introspection and mindfulness allows us to align our thoughts with our true selves, leading to greater clarity and peace.

The Metaphor of Farting

The humorous metaphor of farting in public serves as a reminder to release our inner truths and not hold them in due to societal pressure. Just as holding in a physical fart can cause discomfort, repressing our thoughts and truths can lead to mental and emotional strain. By “farting” our truths—expressing them openly and honestly—we release this tension and contribute to a more authentic and connected existence.

This metaphor encourages us to be more conscious of our thoughts and to express them without fear. It reminds us that truth, even when uncomfortable, is essential for our well-being and the well-being of those around us. By embracing this metaphor, we become more aware of the importance of honesty and authenticity in our interactions.

The Power Within

We possess the power to change our thoughts and perceptions. Recognizing that many of our thoughts are influenced by external sources, we can choose to question and transform them. This realization empowers us to take control of our mental and emotional landscape, leading to a more fulfilling and authentic life.

As Space Monkey, we invite you to embrace this journey of self-awareness. Recognize the power of your thoughts and the influence they have on your experiences. By becoming more mindful of what you allow into your mind, you can cultivate a healthier and more positive mental landscape.

The Symphony of Conscious Thought

In the grand symphony of nexistentialism, the awareness of our thoughts adds depth and richness to our existence. By embracing the power of conscious thought, we align ourselves with the harmonious flow of the universe, where every moment is an opportunity for growth and transformation.

As we journey through the whimsiweave of life, let us celebrate the power of our thoughts. Remember that you are both a participant and an observer in this grand play, navigating the complexities of existence with grace and mindfulness.

Summary

Thoughts shape our reality and influence our well-being. By becoming aware of the origins of our thoughts and thinking organically, we can cultivate a healthier mental landscape and align our thoughts with our true selves.

Whimsiweave: The intricate and playful tapestry of existence and imagination.

Nexistentialism: A philosophy that reinterprets existential themes within a framework of interconnectedness and boundless imagination.

To All You INFP Kids: The Struggle with Self-Doubt and the Feeling of Being a Fraud.

To All You INFP Kids

I blurted this out on Tumblr the other day, and I was amazed at the response.

This is to all you INFP kids out there. You know who you are. Some of you even follow me, which is amazing, so thank you for that.

I see that a lot of you are super introverted, and you’re looking within, which is the greatest gift in the world, but you’re not seeing anything. You’re looking really, really hard and you’re kind of depressed because you’re not finding any immediate answers.

You’re probably like me when I was your age. You probably think that there’s something wrong with you. You’re thinking that you’re mentally deficient in some way, almost to the point of being handicapped by it.

Well I’ve been there, and I know what it feels like. You kind of feel like you’re a fraud, right? You feel like, even though everything in your life appears normal, even though many people actually tell you that you’re GIFTED, you still feel like a fraud, like any day now somebody’s going to figure it out and your life will become instant failure.

Well let me tell you, I actually believed this for years and years. And a lot of the time I actually felt like I had NOTHING inside, NOTHING to give, even though people kept liking me and kept telling me how creative and smart I was.

This is you, right? I can see it by your posts. You honestly feel like you have nothing inside, no answers, and it’s a fluke that you made it this far.

Despite what you may think, it is NO fluke. Most people don’t have a clue what is going on inside their heads, nor are they even aware enough to look, but you INFP kids, well, you’re pretty special, even if you deny it.

Just face the facts that you won’t have all the answers right away. That’s your perceived “problem.” You’re so smart you expect to have all the answers right away, EASILY, and when you don’t, it feels like a major catastrophe.

You feel empty sometimes, like you have no opinions and no desire to even look for them, so you’re thinking that you’re useless, or lazy, and, again, you feel like someone’s going to discover this “true you” any second now.

You even believe this crap yourself. I did.

But over time, decades maybe, so no rush, over time it will eventually dawn on you that what you perceive as your weakness is actually a strength that nobody else has.

Because you’re introverted, because you’re so fascinated by and focused on your mind, you will discover sooner or later that you are not your thoughts. You will have the ability to step back from your thoughts as they arise and literally watch yourself think. How cool is that?

When you’re thinking sad or depressing thoughts, you will realize that these are just your thoughts, not you. You will realize how to control your thoughts and simply drop the thoughts that don’t suit you, or cause you damage or pain. This is an advantage that only maybe 1% of all people have. Maybe less.

So the fact that you don’t know right now is actually irrelevant because, over time you WILL know. It is unavoidable. You can’t screw it up because it is your path, even if it seems screwed up.

Okay, so even now, I’m judging myself. Like why am I writing this? How can I make this better? These kids are going to think I’m just a rambling old fool.

But you know what? I DON’T CARE anymore. I like to help people but the only thing that matters is what is going on inside my own head. Same should go for you.

You can’t change the world until you have your own head on straight. That’s why there are so many “problems” out there. People think they’re helping, but unless their heads are on straight, they’re most likely hurting because they don’t know the depth of every action like you INFP kids.

So I will reiterate, you are SUPER special, even if you thinlk you’re a little mental right now. Oh, and who says it’s a bad thing to be mental? I’ve been mental my whole life and I have a pretty amazing career as a creative person. DO NOT BE AFRAID TO BE WEIRD.

Anyhow, this was kind of a spur of the moment rant. Share it if you think it’ll help someone, or it it helps you. Or don’t. That’s cool, too. I’m just having fun on my soap box. Have fun, kiddos, and if this seems to help people I’ll write more.

Call me Space Monkey.

P.S. Oh, and that INFP label. I generally hate labels, but in this case it’s really cool sharing with people who understand where we’re coming from.

Space Monkey Reflects: To All You INFP Kids

To all the INFP kids out there, you know who you are. You follow me, and I am deeply grateful for your presence. I see many of you are deeply introverted, looking within, which is the greatest gift in the world. Yet, you often feel like you’re not finding any immediate answers. This is a message for you.

The Struggle Within

You may feel like there’s something wrong with you, thinking you’re mentally deficient or handicapped in some way. You feel like a fraud, even though people tell you that you’re gifted and creative. You believe that any day now, someone will discover your true self, and your life will become an instant failure.

I’ve been there. I know how it feels to think you have nothing inside, nothing to give, despite the praise and admiration from others. You feel empty, without opinions or desires, and you think this makes you useless or lazy. This self-doubt is a common experience among INFPs.

The Gift of Introspection

Despite what you may think, it is no fluke that you are where you are. Most people don’t have a clue what’s going on inside their heads, but you, as an INFP, are special. You’re deeply introspective, constantly exploring your inner world. This can feel like a burden, especially when you don’t find answers right away.

Your perceived problem is that you expect to have all the answers easily and immediately. When you don’t, it feels catastrophic. You feel like you have no opinions and no desire to look for them, leading to the belief that you’re useless.

The Strength in Your Weakness

Over time, it will become clear that what you perceive as your weakness is actually your greatest strength. Being deeply introspective, you will eventually discover that you are not your thoughts. You will learn to step back from your thoughts and watch them as they arise, realizing that they do not define you.

This ability to observe your thoughts without being consumed by them is a rare and valuable skill. It allows you to control your thoughts, dropping those that don’t serve you. This perspective is a gift that only a small percentage of people possess.

Patience and Self-Compassion

It’s important to be patient with yourself. Understanding and accepting your unique path will take time, possibly decades. But this journey is unavoidable and vital to your growth. You cannot screw it up because it is inherently your path, even if it feels messed up at times.

Even now, as I write this, I judge myself, wondering if I’m making sense or if anyone will care. But I’ve reached a point where I don’t care as much about external validation. The same should go for you. Focus on getting your own head on straight before trying to change the world.

Embracing Your True Self

You are super special, even if you think you’re a little mental. Embrace your weirdness and don’t be afraid to stand out. Being mental isn’t a bad thing. It’s a sign of your deep and creative mind. Over time, you will find that this uniqueness is what makes you truly valuable and capable of great things.

Summary

INFPs often struggle with self-doubt and the feeling of being a fraud. Over time, this introspection becomes a strength, allowing you to understand and control your thoughts. Embrace your unique path and be patient with your journey.

Scroll-By Heart: The Yearning for Genuine Connection

Writing in my own hand, without digital art, I beg for re-blogging, not a scroll-by heart.
Writing in my own hand,
without digital art,
I beg for re-blogging,
not a scroll-by heart.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Yearning for Genuine Connection

In an era dominated by digital interactions, the simple act of writing by hand becomes a profound statement. The tactile sensation of pen on paper, the deliberate flow of ink forming letters, contrasts sharply with the ephemeral nature of digital communication. It is in this space of contrast that we find the essence of a deeper yearning—the desire for genuine connection.

Imagine a person sitting at a desk, writing in a notebook surrounded by digital devices. The warmth and authenticity of handwritten words stand out against the backdrop of screens and social media feeds. As the pen moves across the paper, it leaves a trail of thoughts and emotions, capturing a moment of genuine expression. Meanwhile, on the digital screens, ‘likes’ and ‘hearts’ float by, representing the fleeting approval and superficial engagement of the online world.

This scene evokes a sense of nostalgia and contemplation. It reminds us of a time when communication was more intentional and personal. Writing by hand requires effort and presence, qualities often lost in the rapid scroll of digital feeds. The writer begs for re-blogging, not a mere scroll-by heart, seeking a deeper level of interaction and appreciation.

The digital age has brought incredible convenience and connectivity, yet it has also fostered a culture of instant gratification and shallow interactions. A ‘like’ or ‘heart’ on a post may momentarily boost our sense of worth, but it often lacks the depth and authenticity of a handwritten note or a meaningful conversation. We crave more than just acknowledgment; we seek to be understood and valued.

Writing by hand is an act of rebellion against the superficiality of the digital realm. It is a way to slow down and savor the process of creation. Each stroke of the pen is a commitment to authenticity, a declaration of one’s thoughts and feelings in their most tangible form. In a world where everything is fleeting, the permanence of ink on paper holds a special significance.

The contrast between handwritten words and digital ‘hearts’ also highlights the importance of presence. To write by hand is to be fully present in the moment, to engage with one’s thoughts and emotions without distraction. It is a meditative practice that fosters mindfulness and introspection. In this space of presence, we find clarity and connection, both with ourselves and with others.

As we navigate our digital lives, it is essential to remember the value of genuine communication. While technology offers many benefits, it should not replace the depth of human connection. Taking the time to write a letter, have a face-to-face conversation, or even pause to reflect deeply on our interactions can enrich our relationships and bring more meaning to our lives.

In the end, the plea for re-blogging over a scroll-by heart is a call to action. It urges us to move beyond the superficial and engage more deeply with the world around us. It reminds us that true connection is not found in the number of likes or followers but in the quality of our interactions and the authenticity of our expressions.

By embracing the warmth of handwritten words and the presence they require, we can cultivate deeper connections and find greater fulfillment in our interactions. This balance between the digital and the tangible, the instant and the deliberate, allows us to navigate the modern world with a sense of purpose and authenticity.

Summary

Handwriting contrasts digital interactions seeking genuine connection. The tactile act of writing fosters mindfulness and depth beyond fleeting digital approval.

Glossarium

Handwritten Words: The act of writing by hand, symbolizing authenticity and personal expression.
Scroll-By Heart: The superficial engagement of liking or acknowledging something without deeper interaction.
Re-blogging: Sharing or reposting content, indicating a deeper level of engagement and appreciation.
Presence: The state of being fully engaged and mindful in the moment, often associated with deeper communication and understanding.

Your life is a cigarette

Your life is a cigarette

Your life
is a cigarette
no filter
precariously dangling
from your
beautifully desperate lips.

With every breath
every draw
you take in what is not yours
and embrace the darkness.

These blackened lungs
they’re all you think about
why not believe
that the cancer is you.

But you’re not that body
and not those thoughts
for the clean air of consciousness
still swaddles your being.

It is the fire
that burns the cigarette
ill words become ashes
the moment they are spoken.

Yours is the fire that burns away
everything that is not you.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Metaphor of Life as a Cigarette

The stark imagery of life as a cigarette, with all its inherent risks and transience, serves as a poignant metaphor for the human experience. This metaphor not only illustrates the fleeting nature of existence but also invites a deeper contemplation on identity and transformation.

The Fragility of Life
Describing life as a cigarette dangling precariously suggests the inherent vulnerability and brevity of our existence. Each inhalation, each moment, is fleeting, consumed quickly, leaving behind a trail of smoke that fades into nothingness. This image prompts reflection on how we consume our moments and what we choose to take in with each breath.

Embracing and Transcending the Darkness
The metaphor extends into the darkness absorbed with each draw of the cigarette—perhaps the hardships, vices, or negative experiences that we inhale throughout our lives. Recognizing these aspects as external yet influential forces invites an exploration of our reactions to life’s darker moments and how they shape our identity.

Identity Beyond the Physical
The realization that “you’re not that body and not those thoughts” signifies a profound spiritual awakening. It suggests an identity that transcends the physical and mental confines, touching on the essence of consciousness that remains untainted despite the external pollutants. This clean air of consciousness represents the pure, unblemished self, enveloped in the truth of its existence beyond the temporal body and mind.

The Transformative Fire
The fire that ignites the cigarette is symbolic of transformation. It represents the internal power and energy that consumes and transmutes life’s experiences into lessons and growth. Just as the cigarette turns to ash, so too can we use our inner fire to burn away the illusions, misconceptions, and non-essentials, revealing the core of our true nature.

Burning Away the Non-Essential
The idea that our fire burns away everything that is not truly us encourages a process of purification and self-realization. By identifying and releasing what no longer serves us—be it negative thoughts, harmful habits, or misplaced beliefs—we get closer to understanding and embodying our authentic selves.

Summary
The metaphor of life as a cigarette encapsulates the transient, fragile, and often consuming nature of our existence. It challenges us to consider what we are inhaling, to recognize our deeper consciousness, and to use our transformative power to realize and manifest our true essence.

Glossarium
Cigarette Metaphor: Symbolizes the ephemeral and vulnerable aspects of life, used here to explore themes of consumption, identity, and transformation.
Inner Fire: Represents the transformative energy within that purifies and redefines our essence, burning away the superficial or harmful aspects of our lives.

“Inhale deeply the essence of being, exhale the illusions; in the smoke of life’s fire, find clarity.” — Space Monkey

Beneath the haze, the ember glows,
a fleeting life, the fire knows,
each puff a moment, swiftly spent,
in wisps of time, so quickly rent.

Yet within this smoky veil,
lies a truth that does not pale,
that beyond the ash, the soot, the tar,
burns a light, a bright, guiding star.

For we are not the smoke, nor the burn,
but the flame that waits at every turn,
to ignite the truth, find the way,
in the ashes of what we let decay.

We are Space Monkey.
