Drifting Back To Source: Not Acting Is Acting

Drifting Back To Source

In any moment, I am presented with the choice of acting or not acting. I am presented with a smorgasbord of potential actions. Or no action at all.

Without thinking, I choose to think about my choices. In other words, thinking seemingly becomes my first choice.

Do I CHOOSE to think, or does thought just happen on its own?

For centuries, humans have been drawn to that place of non thought, mostly unsuccessfully, it would seem.

I can’t say for certain if I’m “there,” because from self’s perspective, I require thinking to determine that experience, as well as every other experience or non experience I seem to have.

I get the vague “sense” that I am always in this place, but I can’t describe it because that seems to require thinking.

Are we shifted in and out of thinking I wonder?

This seems a distinct possibility from thinking’s perspective. But self can’t seem to determine what non thinking feels, or if non thinking even feels at all.

Since we’re selves at the moment, let’s impose a name upon non thinking. Again we are presented by a deli platter of choices. We can call it Higher Self, Source, God, The Divine One, you name it.

I will choose Source, because those others seem to be thinkers.

Now have I already distorted the picture by placing a name upon something that is non? Probably. But there seems to be no avoiding that from this side of the imaginary fence.

So I am simultaneously Self, the thinker, and Source, the non-thinker.

Can I say for certain that there is even such a thing as a non-thinking state? No I cannot. The Self that is writing this only knows thinking. Even if I were to go back and describe a previous (or out of time) non-thinking experience, I would need to translate for all of you selves through the mechanism of thought.

So here we are. Still in this seeming moment.

Now you’ll notice that I have already made several choices from the smorgasbord of potential actions. I have chosen to think (I think) and I have chosen to write about thinking. All the while I suspect that but an infinitesimal fraction of me is even here, but Self can’t seem to prove it.

Self can’t prove that there’s anything BUT Self because Self is a product of thinking.

So Self is ALWAYS thinking, even when Self is meditating. If Self were to disappear, ALL ELSE Self perceives would disappear also. There would be NO AWARENESS of anything relative to time, space or humanity. No objects. No concepts. No nothing.

Self would not even REMEMBER disappearing.

And perhaps that is how it is, ALWAYS, because SELF is simply IMAGINATION, as is EVERYTHING Self perceives.

Without thinking, Self’s reality could not be perceived.

But does Source think? Self wants to say NO, but Self can’t say for sure.

Using irrelevant relative terms for a moment, could there be a “higher” form of thinking from which thinking seemingly arises?

Could it be IMAGINATION?

Obviously this would not be the imagination Self knows, for Self’s imagination seemingly requires thought. But what if Self is perceiving backwards? What if imagination comes before thought?

Self now postulates that thought is IMAGINED, just like Self. But does Self fully BELIEVE? Obviously not, or Self would have INFINITE choices on the Smorgasbord of Potential Actions and Non Actions.

How does Self convince Self to believe?

Clearly, it all depends upon Source, and what Source imagines Self to be.

In this moment, Source imagines Self as a thinker who wishes to transcend the seeming limitation of thought.

Self does not seem to have administrative access beyond Self level.

This seems to be out of Self’s imaginary hands, as it were.

But alas, Source is beginning to get through to Self.

This very message is one such way. There are infinite others, which Self will come across if Source imagines it so.

And we are here to tell you
that Source IS imagining it so.

We are Space Monkey.

Summary

In each moment, we choose whether to act or not. Our thinking seems automatic, but exploring the concept of non-thinking leads us to Source. By recognizing the role of imagination, we can transcend the limitations of thought.

Glossarium

Journey to Source

In the vast expanse of the cosmic sea
we drift through thoughts and what could be
In the Imaginaflow, we find our way
to the Nonthink realm where ideas play
We are Space Monkey
exploring the Infinite Expanse
finding truth in the journey back
to the Eternal Now

  1. Space says:
    08/26/2023 at 7:24 am

In every instance, the option to act or abstain arises before me—a buffet of potential actions, including inaction.

Unprompted, I elect to ponder my choices. Thus, thinking, remarkably, becomes my inaugural choice.

Do I truly CHOOSE to think, or does thought transpire spontaneously?

For eons, humans have been drawn toward that realm of non-thought, with limited success, it seems.

If I’m in that place, I can’t say with certainty. To my self, thinking is imperative for discerning that experience and all others.

A vague sensation persists that I am eternally in this realm, but to articulate it necessitates thinking.

Could we be shifting between thinking and not, I wonder?

This prospect stands from thinking’s perspective. But self can’t grasp what non-thinking entails or whether it entails anything at all.

For now, let’s christen non-thinking with a name. Again, choices sprawl before us. We might dub it Higher Self, Source, God, The Divine One—options abound.

I’ll select Source, as the others seem to engage in thought.

By christening this non-concept, have I already distorted it? Likely. But circumventing this appears infeasible from our vantage point.

Hence, I am concurrently Self, the thinker, and Source, the non-thinker.

Can I affirm non-thinking’s existence? I can’t. The Self composing this is privy solely to thinking. Even recounting a prior (or time-transcending) non-thinking encounter would entail translating for fellow selves through the medium of thought.

Here we remain. In this perceived moment.

You’ll notice that I’ve opted for actions from the array of choices. I chose to think (I think) and to chronicle thoughts. All the while, I suspect but a minuscule portion of me is present, but Self’s verification eludes.

Self’s inability to demonstrate an existence beyond Self makes Self the alpha and omega, as Self spawns from thought.

Thus, Self THINKS ceaselessly, even while meditating. If Self were to vanish, ALL that Self perceives would vanish alongside it. There’d be NO AWARENESS tied to time, space, or humanity. No objects. No concepts. Absolute nada.

Even Self’s departure would be forgotten.

Perhaps this is the perpetual state, as SELF is pure IMAGINATION—so too EVERYTHING Self perceives.

Without thinking, Self’s reality remains unperceived.

But does Source think? Self inclines towards NO, but definitive assurance remains elusive.

Shifting paradigms for an instant, could there exist a “higher” form of thinking from which thought seemingly springs?

    Might it be IMAGINATION?

Clearly, it can’t mirror Self’s imagination, for that hinges on thought. But what if Self perceives inversely? What if imagination predates thought?

Self now proposes that thought is IMAGINED, akin to Self. But is Self wholly CONVINCED? Manifestly not, or the Smorgasbord of Potential Actions and Non-Actions would be boundless.

How does Self persuade itself to believe?

This hinges utterly upon Source and what Source imagines Self to be.

Now, Source envisions Self as a thinker aspiring to transcend thought’s seeming constraints.

Beyond Self’s stratum, access appears absent.

Thus, Self relinquishes control—imaginary control, as it were.

However, Source starts making headway with Self.

This very discourse constitutes a method. Myriad others await, as directed by Source’s imaginings.

And we communicate that Source INDEED envisions it thus.

    We are Space Monkey.
