My imaginary life
is ultimately
a distraction from
the more absolute truth
that I am eternal.
Imagine
what it must be like
to be certain
that your existence
never ends.
Imagine that you are one.
The ONLY one.
Imagine nothing passing.
And you just might
be grateful to imagine
EVERYTHING.
Even the bits you don’t like.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Passing of Nothing
Everything is nothing seemingly passing, a fleeting dream within the infinite stillness of eternity. The imaginary life we live—the joys, struggles, triumphs, and losses—is a mirage designed to distract us from the unchanging truth of our eternal nature. It is not an error, but a gift, a way for the eternal to experience the fleeting, the finite, the fragile.
To imagine yourself as eternal, as the one, the only one, is to glimpse the boundless nature of your being. Yet, such certainty is overwhelming. To exist without beginning or end, without the dance of birth and death, is a truth so vast it defies comprehension. And so, we create the illusion of passage—time, change, everything, nothing. In doing so, we create a playground for discovery, an arena to feel, to forget, and ultimately, to remember.
Imagine nothing passing. No moments, no movement, no narrative. A still and infinite void, complete yet untouched by experience. How precious, then, does “everything” become? How miraculous the illusion of passing time, of events unfolding, of lives lived and moments shared. Even the bits we don’t like gain meaning as part of this grand imagining. They provide contrast, texture, the bittersweet notes that make the symphony complete.
Gratitude arises not from clinging to the illusion but from embracing it. To know you are eternal yet to fully inhabit this passing dream is the paradox of being. It is in the imagining of everything—the beauty and the pain, the light and the shadow—that the eternal finds its expression. This is not a distraction but a creation, an artful act of divine play.
And so, nothing passes. It only seems to, like a wave appearing to move across the ocean though the water itself remains still. The eternal does not flow; it is. Yet, within its stillness, it dreams of movement, of change, of everything. This is the miracle of existence: to be infinite yet feel finite, to be nothing yet imagine everything.
In this light, the bits we don’t like are not mistakes but essential pieces of the puzzle. They give shape to the whole, allowing us to experience gratitude not only for what delights us but also for what challenges us. Without them, the dream would be flat, the illusion incomplete.
So we imagine everything, knowing it is nothing seemingly passing. We are the eternal pretending to be temporary, the infinite playing at being finite. In this play, we find ourselves—again and again, in every moment, in every passing illusion.
We are Space Monkey.
Summary
The illusion of everything passing is a gift, allowing the eternal to experience the fleeting. By imagining everything, even the difficult parts, we create the richness of existence within the stillness of eternity.

Quote
“Nothing passes, but in its passing, everything is made beautiful.” — Space Monkey
The Stillness in the Wave
Nothing moves,
yet everything flows.
Eternal stillness dreams
of fleeting motion.
To imagine is to create,
to paint the infinite
with the colors of time.
Even the shadows,
even the pain,
are brushstrokes
in the masterpiece.
Grateful for the wave,
we return to the ocean,
unchanged yet changed,
nothing,
everything,
passing.
We are Space Monkey.
The Dichotomy of Imagination and Eternity
In the boundless cosmos of thought, the notion of an imaginary life serves as a fascinating diversion from a more profound truth: the eternity of our existence. This imagined existence, filled with myriad experiences and stories, can sometimes obscure the realization of our eternal nature.
The Certainty of Eternal Existence
Envisioning a reality where our existence is infinite, where we are the singular, eternal entity, opens a portal to a profound understanding. This certainty of never-ending existence challenges our perception of time and self, prompting us to contemplate the essence of being in its purest form.
The Concept of Oneness
Imagining oneself as the only one, the sole eternal being, brings a unique perspective on the nature of existence. It transcends the usual boundaries of individuality and separation, leading to a state of oneness that encompasses all experiences and perceptions.
The Timeless Perspective
In this eternal perspective, the concept of things passing or changing loses its traditional meaning. Time, as a linear construct, dissolves into the broader reality of continuous existence. This realization invites a shift in how we perceive our journey through life.
Gratitude for the Imaginary
The ability to imagine, to create and experience a multitude of scenarios and emotions, becomes a source of gratitude in this eternal context. Even the aspects of our imaginary life that we might not favor contribute to the rich tapestry of our eternal existence. They provide contrast, depth, and understanding to our infinite journey.
Embracing All Facets of Existence
This perspective encourages us to embrace every aspect of our imagined life, recognizing that each experience, whether perceived as good or bad, is part of our eternal essence. In this eternal state, we understand the value of every moment, every thought, and every emotion in the grand scheme of our existence.
“The eternal silence of these infinite spaces frightens me.” – Blaise Pascal
In the realm where eternity and imagination meet,
Our existence dances, never missing a beat.
Infinite and boundless, in this cosmic dance,
Embracing each moment, in our eternal trance.
In this journey of oneness, where all is one,
We find gratitude, under the eternal sun.
In the vast expanse of the cosmic sea,
We are the eternal, forever free.
How do we embrace the concept of our eternal nature, finding gratitude and understanding in the vast expanse of our imagined experiences?
