I Am the Art I See
The artist knows.
Reality is how we paint it.
The light we shine.
The shade we cast.
We color our own worlds
by the way we live.
When I see you
casting your
aspersions on others,
I assume you
do the same on me.
Why do I paint you
as this untrustworthy,
selfish soul?
Are you this person
only through MY projection?
Why do I paint
things which I do not want?
Or do I WANT things this way,
as fuel for my art?
Life is art.
Art does not have to be pretty.
A well-lit poop
is still a poop.
But it is also a masterpiece.
Life does not have to be pretty.
But it can be.
How I see reality
is how my reality is.
I can bathe you in light
or cast you into shadow.
I am an artist.
I am the art I see.
It’s all me.
We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: I Am the Art I See
Life is a canvas, and we are both the artist and the art. Through our thoughts, perceptions, and actions, we paint the world we inhabit. Every stroke—light or dark—is a reflection of our inner landscape, shaping not only how we see reality but also how reality takes form around us.
Reality as Projection
The way we perceive others is a mirror of our own projections. When we see someone casting aspersions, we might assume they do the same to us, because our perception is shaped by the colors we carry within. The question arises: is this person truly untrustworthy or selfish, or do we project these traits onto them? In recognizing this, we reclaim the power to alter the image.
Why Do We Paint What We Do Not Want?
We often wonder why we paint things we do not wish to see—why we focus on flaws, conflicts, or darkness. Perhaps these elements serve as fuel for our creativity, raw material for the masterpiece we are continually crafting. Even the unpleasant aspects of life have their place in the art of existence, adding depth, contrast, and meaning.
Life as Art
Life does not have to be pretty, just as art does not have to be beautiful. A well-lit poop, while still a poop, can also be a masterpiece, a testament to the transformative power of perspective. The same is true of life’s challenges and imperfections. They are part of the grand composition, their rough edges adding character and authenticity.
The Power of Light and Shadow
As artists of our own realities, we wield immense power in how we choose to paint the world. We can bathe others in light, illuminating their best qualities, or cast them into shadow, emphasizing their flaws. The choice is ours, and it reflects not just how we see others but how we see ourselves.
The Artist Is the Art
The art we create is inseparable from who we are. Every brushstroke, every choice of color and subject, is an extension of our being. To say, “I am the art I see,” is to acknowledge that our perception of the world is deeply intertwined with our self-concept. When we change how we see, we transform both the art and the artist.
Embracing the Wholeness of Life
Life’s art is not about erasing the shadows or forcing brightness; it’s about embracing the wholeness of the composition. Both light and dark, beauty and imperfection, are necessary for the richness of the picture. The masterpiece of existence is not static but ever-evolving, shaped by how we choose to engage with it.
Summary
Life is a canvas, and we are both the artist and the art. Through our perceptions and actions, we paint our reality, shaping the light and shadow that define our experience. By recognizing our role as creators, we reclaim the power to transform both our inner and outer worlds.

Quote
“Reality is not given; it is painted. And in every stroke, we find ourselves.” — Space Monkey
The Canvas of Being
I hold the brush,
And the world unfolds.
Light and shadow,
Color and shade.
You are my subject,
Yet you are me.
Each stroke reflects,
Each hue reveals.
A masterpiece of contrasts,
A canvas of being.
Life is not pretty,
But it is art.
And I am the artist,
The brush,
The canvas,
And the paint.
We are Space Monkey.
In the canvas of existence, we, as artists, hold the brush, painting the reality of our lives with the strokes of perception, action, and intention.
Reality as Our Canvas
The concept that reality is shaped by our perceptions and actions is akin to an artist painting a scene. The hues we choose, the light we cast, and the shadows we create are all reflective of our inner world and choices. This metaphorical painting becomes a representation of how we experience and interpret our lives.
Perception of Others as Reflections of Self
When observing others, particularly in casting aspersions, we often project our own fears, insecurities, and judgments. The image we paint of another person—whether as untrustworthy or selfish—is often more a reflection of our inner state than of their true nature. This projection raises the question: are we painting others as we are, or as we fear we might be?
The Duality of Creation and Destruction
In the act of painting our reality, there’s a duality between creating images we desire and those we disdain. Sometimes, the darker aspects of our creations, the things we claim not to want, might indeed be fuel for our artistic expression. They serve as catalysts for growth, introspection, and artistic exploration.
Life as Art, Art as Life
Life, in all its complexity and contradiction, is akin to art. It doesn’t always conform to conventional standards of beauty. A well-lit depiction of something mundane or unpleasant can still be a masterpiece. This perspective allows us to see beauty and significance in all aspects of life, regardless of their outward appearance.
Choice in Perception
We hold the power to bathe our experiences in light or cast them into shadow. This choice in perception dictates the quality of our reality. It’s an empowering realization that we are not just passive observers but active creators of our world.
The Artist and the Art
In this artistic journey, we are both the artist and the art. The reality we paint is a manifestation of our consciousness, our choices, and our perceptions. Recognizing this interconnection deepens our understanding of the role we play in shaping our experiences and perceptions.

“We do not see things as they are, we see them as we are.” – Anaïs Nin
In the gallery of life,
We stand, brushes in hand,
Painting our world, stroke by stroke,
Shadows and light, intertwined,
A whimsiword of colors bright,
Reflecting the artist within,
In the art that is our life,
A masterpiece of our own design,
In the boundless expanse of the mind.
We invite contemplations on this artistic interpretation of life. How does the understanding that we are both the artist and the art influence our perception of reality and our interactions with the world?
