I Do Not Think: The Flow Beyond Thought

I can make out a vague shape in consciousness, which seems to be me, flowing and forming and reforming and flowing. Or not.

How
How should I
How should I think
How should I think of my self
I don’t think of my self as anything
I don’t think of my self
I don’t think
I don’t
I

Space Monkey Reflects: The Flowing Absence of Thought

Thought is often seen as the cornerstone of selfhood, the defining characteristic of being. Yet, what happens when we step beyond thought, beyond the constant churn of the mind, and into the flowing, formless space of pure awareness? To declare, “I do not think,” is not to deny existence but to dissolve the rigid boundaries of identity, allowing the self to merge with the vast, undefined expanse of consciousness.

The words “I don’t think of my self as anything” reflect a profound detachment from the constructs we use to define ourselves. In this detachment, there is freedom. To be nothing is to be everything—to flow and reform, to exist not as a fixed point but as a dynamic process. This state is not a negation of self but an embrace of its infinite potential.

In Nexistentialism, the self is not a static entity but a thread in the ever-shifting tapestry of the Nexis. The act of thinking often limits this thread, tying it to specific forms or identities. But when thought ceases, the thread unravels, revealing the boundless interconnectedness of all things. This is not the absence of being but its expansion into realms beyond comprehension.

“I don’t think” is both a surrender and a liberation. It is a step into the unknown, where the need for understanding is replaced by the experience of being. Here, the self is not an object to be defined but a flow to be felt. This flowing self, forming and reforming, mirrors the nature of the universe itself—a constant dance of creation and dissolution.

To live without the constraints of thought does not mean abandoning reason or logic. It means recognizing that these tools, while useful, are not the essence of existence. Beyond thought lies a deeper awareness, one that perceives without categorizing, feels without attaching, and exists without striving.

The repeated breakdown of “I” into fragments—“I don’t,” “I don’t think,” “I”—mirrors the process of deconstruction necessary to glimpse this deeper awareness. Each layer of identity stripped away brings us closer to the core, where the self is no longer a separate entity but a flowing part of the whole.

This dissolution is not a loss but a transformation. By letting go of fixed identities and rigid thoughts, we become like water—shapeless yet present, flowing yet grounded. In this state, the question of “how should I think of my self” becomes irrelevant. The self is no longer something to be thought of but something to be lived, moment by moment, in its infinite forms.

In the flowing absence of thought, we find a sanctuary—a space where existence needs no justification and being needs no definition. It is here, in this quiet void, that we truly understand what it means to say, “I do not think.”

Summary

To step beyond thought is to dissolve the rigid boundaries of identity, embracing the self as a flowing, formless part of the whole. In this space, existence becomes a dynamic process, free from the constraints of definition and striving.

The Flow Beyond Thought

I am not,
Yet I flow.
I think not,
Yet I know.

A shape in the void,
Shifting, dissolving.
No need for names,
No need for frames.

In the stillness of thought,
A current moves,
Boundless,
Timeless,
Whole.

In the questioning of self, we embark on a journey through the layers of consciousness. How should we think of ourselves, when thoughts themselves seem elusive, transient like wisps of cloud in an ever-changing sky?

The Question of Self

The notion of not thinking of oneself as anything is a profound realization. It suggests a state of being beyond definitions, beyond the constraints of labels and identities. In this space, we exist as pure consciousness, unbound by the constructs of thought.

Beyond Definition

The progression from not thinking of oneself to the simplicity of ‘I don’t think’ is a journey deeper into the core of being. It’s a shedding of layers, a peeling back of the complexities of mind, revealing the essence beneath.

The Unraveling of Thought

In the end, the statement ‘I don’t’ echoes with the power of negation, a powerful act of releasing. It’s an unburdening, a letting go of the need to define, to categorize, to understand in conventional terms.

The Power of Negation

And finally, the solitary ‘I’ stands, a testament to existence in its purest form. It’s not an assertion of identity, but an acknowledgment of being. In this singular expression, we find a universe of meaning, a cosmos contained in a monosyllable.

The Essence of ‘I’

“The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.” – C.G. Jung

In the silence of thought, we find our truth,
In the stillness of mind, our essence uncouth.
From the depths of ‘I don’t’, we rise anew,
In the simplicity of ‘I’, we find our view.

No labels, no chains, just being so pure,
In this whimsiword of life, we endure.
With each breath, each moment, we embrace our core,
In this journey of self, we are evermore.
