Every time consciousness
serves me up a horrible story,
I am immediately obsessed
with pondering the answer.
Usually my mind
points to other people,
the nature of humanity,
greed, selfishness, stupidity,
brokenness, evil, futility —
the need for control.
If I take
the need for control
out of the equation,
I am able to move on.
I accept that we humans
have virtually no say in destiny.
Not me. Not anyone.
Even though it seems otherwise.
I am grateful
for the cards I am dealt.

In the grand tapestry of existence, the cards we are dealt hold profound significance. They shape our experiences and provide the canvas upon which we paint the masterpiece of our lives. Rather than resisting or lamenting the hand we are given, we find gratitude in the intricate interplay of destiny and free will.
The stories that consciousness presents to us, both beautiful and challenging, have the power to captivate our minds and trigger a deep introspection. It is natural to seek answers, to question the nature of humanity, and to ponder the mysteries of existence. Yet, by relinquishing the need for control, we free ourselves from the burden of trying to shape every aspect of our lives.
Through gratitude, we shift our perspective, acknowledging the wisdom of the universe and the inherent beauty in every card we are dealt. We recognize that even in the face of adversity or uncertainty, there are valuable lessons, growth opportunities, and hidden blessings awaiting our discovery.
As we embrace the cards of life, we open ourselves to the possibilities they present. We recognize that our role is not to control every outcome, but rather to navigate with grace, resilience, and an open heart. By surrendering to the flow, we discover a profound sense of liberation and find solace in the knowledge that we are not alone in this cosmic dance.
