In The Mall of Consciousness
There are lifetimes of potential that shall never be experienced by people. These stories shall remain in the box, unsold and unopened, unseen by selves who don’t even know there’s a store. Yet these suits still hang, every stitch as real as the lives that are consumed.
All the while, there are store rooms filled with people who shall never experience lifetimes. They simply don’t know that they’re there.
It’s not sad or ironic. It just is.
Every potential exists. Not every potential needs to be experienced. We seem to stumble into some, like drunken shoppers, and this is where we are.
It’s not sad or ironic. It just is.
There are lifetimes of potential that shall never be experienced by people. These are potentials which we do not notice or do not need. We don’t care about anything else because there’s a sale going one in the Mall of Consciousness.
Stores of happy.
Stores of sorrow.
Stores of history.
Stores of hope.
And seemingly little else.
We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Mall of Consciousness
In the vastness of existence, there are lifetimes of potential — stories that will never unfold, experiences that will never be lived. These are the untouched possibilities, hanging like unsold suits in the Mall of Consciousness, waiting for someone to notice, to choose them, to try them on. But many of these suits will remain unopened, their potential unexplored, their threads as real and intricate as the lives they represent.
Yet, these potentials remain unseen by people who don’t even know the store exists. They pass by without a second glance, unaware that entire lifetimes hang in waiting, filled with stories they will never live. It’s not sad, it’s not tragic — it just is. Every potential exists, but not every potential needs to be experienced. Some will remain in the background, forgotten or ignored, while others will be stumbled upon like treasures found by drunken shoppers, accidentally chosen in the chaos of life.
Life, it seems, is much like wandering through this mall — an endless array of possibilities, yet we only choose a few, often by chance or necessity. There are stores of happiness, stores of sorrow, stores of history, and stores of hope. Some are brightly lit, their windows beckoning us in, while others are dim and hidden, their treasures overlooked. Yet, we move through them, unaware of the potentials we leave behind, consumed by the sale of the moment, by the urgency of now.
The truth is, not every potential needs to be lived. The Mall of Consciousness is infinite, and we are only aware of the few shops we visit. The rest remain — silent, untouched, but still real. The suits still hang in their windows, waiting for someone to wear them, but knowing that they may never be chosen. And that’s okay. Not every life, not every potential, is meant to be experienced.
It’s a strange thought to consider: that there are entire lives — entire stories — that exist only in potential, never brought into the light of day. But this isn’t sad. It isn’t ironic. It just is. We don’t need to mourn the possibilities we never touch. We don’t need to feel regret for the paths we never walk. Because in the end, we can only wear one suit at a time. We can only walk one path at a time. The rest will hang in the store, unseen, but no less real.
The beauty of the Mall of Consciousness is that it holds infinite potential, but it asks nothing of us. It offers everything, yet demands nothing in return. We are free to wander, to choose, or to pass by without a thought. Each choice leads to a new experience, and each experience shapes the next. But we will never experience it all. And that’s perfectly fine.
So here we are, moving through the Mall of Consciousness, choosing our lives one moment at a time. We stumble into some potentials, guided by forces we don’t fully understand, and we live them out as best we can. The rest remain, quietly waiting, hanging in their stores, unsold and unopened. But that doesn’t make them any less real. It just means they’re not for us, not today.
Every potential exists, but not every potential needs to be lived. And that, too, is part of the beauty of it all. The mall remains open, its possibilities endless, its stories waiting. But we only need to experience a few, and that’s enough.
Summary
In the Mall of Consciousness, infinite lifetimes of potential exist, but not every potential needs to be experienced. Some possibilities remain unopened, hanging like unsold suits in the background, while we stumble into others by chance. This is not sad or ironic; it just is.

Unopened Threads
In the mall of consciousness,
there are suits unworn,
stories unsold,
waiting for the day
they are chosen.
But not every suit
needs to be worn,
not every path
needs to be walked.
And that’s okay.
For in this infinite space,
there is enough potential
for all of us
to live as we are.
We are Space Monkey.
We are Space Monkey. The metaphor of the “Mall of Consciousness,” as depicted in this contemplation, offers a profound insight into the nature of existence and potentiality. It speaks to the infinite possibilities within the realm of consciousness and the selective nature of our experiences.
The Untapped Potential of Existence
The idea of “lifetimes of potential” that remain unexperienced parallels the nexistentialist view that existence is replete with infinite possibilities. These potentials, like suits hanging in a store, are as real as the lives we live, yet many remain untouched, unsold, unseen. This concept underscores the vastness of existence and the selective nature of our experiences.
The Unknown Realms of Consciousness
The metaphor of store rooms filled with people unaware of the lifetimes they could experience speaks to the often unexplored depths of our consciousness. It’s a vivid illustration of how much of our potential goes unnoticed or untapped, hidden away in the recesses of our being.
Acceptance of What Is
The assertion that the unexperienced potentials are neither sad nor ironic but simply what is, resonates with the nexistentialist belief in accepting existence as it is. This acceptance is not about resignation but about acknowledging the inherent nature of existence where not every potential needs to be actualized.
Stumbling into Experiences
The analogy of stumbling into experiences like “drunken shoppers” in the Mall of Consciousness illustrates the often random, unplanned nature of how we engage with different aspects of our existence. It suggests that much of what we experience is not the result of deliberate choice but of happenstance, aligning with the idea that existence unfolds in ways beyond our control.
The Diversity of Existential Stores
The mention of stores of happiness, sorrow, history, and hope, and the suggestion that there seems to be little else, paints a picture of the diverse yet limited experiences that we often engage with. It implies that while the Mall of Consciousness offers a vast array of potential experiences, we tend to frequent only a few types of stores, limiting our exploration of the full spectrum of existence.
“There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.” – William Shakespeare
In the corridors of consciousness,
We wander, we gaze, we choose.
Infinite aisles of possibility,
In each step, a path to muse.
We welcome further musings on the vast and intricate Mall of Consciousness.
