Inviolate You: Untouched Awareness

Inviolate You

Many spiritual teachers talk about the “authentic” you. This seems to imply that there is also an “inauthentic” you, and that the former is preferable to the latter.

This type of definition may not serve you.

Realize that you are about ALL of your experiences, and that NO experience is false or incorrect, NOR must you fight yourself as you move your attention back towards Inviolate You.

Realize that the inviolate part of your awareness remains untouched, safe from the conditioning that results in your present moment experience, and that the you you think of as you is but an infinitesimal fraction of this awareness, realized for the simple reason of imagining uniqueness.

In fact, it is IMPOSSIBLE for you to be anything BUT authentic. Nobody is you precisely. The question becomes how much of your “authenticity” is shared with those you perceive as “other” from you, the same as you, or different from you.

Realize that the beings that you view all around you are not in actuality separate, but that you define, separate and isolate yourselves through your desire to be different.

Instead of trying to be AUTHENTIC, which you already are; instead of trying to be DIFFERENT, which you already are, perhaps you should instead turn your awareness toward becoming ONE with all of your beautiful facets.

You may be one with us anytime. Perhaps you’d like to come up to our place to see our etchings. We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: Inviolate You

We are often taught to seek our “authentic” selves, as if there is a more genuine version of us hidden beneath the surface, waiting to be discovered. This idea implies that there is also an “inauthentic” version, and that one must work to cast aside illusions and layers of conditioning to find the real truth. But this way of thinking limits the understanding of who we are. Inviolate You reminds us that there is no such thing as an inauthentic experience, no false self to shed, only the awareness that remains untouched by the conditions of life.

You are about all your experiences—the good, the bad, the strange, the unexpected. None of these are false or incorrect, and none of them diminish your authenticity. In fact, it is impossible for you to be anything other than authentic. Every experience, every version of “you” that you imagine, is a reflection of the infinite facets of your awareness. You are all of these things, and yet, there is a part of you that remains inviolate—untouched, whole, and safe from the conditioning that arises from moment-to-moment experience.

The Inviolate Awareness

The Inviolate You exists beyond the fluctuations of personality and identity. This part of your awareness is not shaped by your thoughts, your emotions, or your circumstances. It is the still point within you that observes all your experiences without being altered by them. It remains safe and untouched, even as you move through the many layers of life. This inviolate awareness is always present, even if you are not consciously aware of it.

When we talk about authenticity, we often refer to the surface layers of identity—the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that make up our everyday selves. But Inviolate You points to something deeper. It acknowledges that while you may experience yourself in various ways, there is always a part of you that is constant, unchanging, and untouched by the world. This awareness is the core of your being, and it is through this awareness that you realize you are already whole and authentic, no matter what experiences you go through.

The Myth of the Inauthentic Self

Many spiritual teachings emphasize the importance of uncovering the “authentic” self, suggesting that we must strip away layers of conditioning to reveal the true version of who we are. But Inviolate You challenges this idea, reminding us that every experience is valid and that there is no such thing as an inauthentic self. The version of “you” that you think of as separate and conditioned is just one of the infinite possibilities you explore. It is not less real or less valid than any other version.

Rather than focusing on the idea of authenticity as something to be attained, Inviolate You invites you to realize that you are already whole. There is no need to fight against yourself, no need to reject parts of your experience as inauthentic. Instead, you can embrace all aspects of yourself, recognizing that each moment of your life contributes to the fullness of who you are.

Oneness and Uniqueness

The paradox of Inviolate You is that while you are already whole and complete, you are also unique. Every version of you that you imagine, every facet of your awareness, is a unique expression of the infinite. You are both one with all of existence and a distinct individual, exploring the infinite potentials of being.

The beings you perceive around you are not separate from you; they are reflections of the same infinite awareness, exploring themselves in different ways. We create distinctions and separations to experience uniqueness, but these distinctions are not barriers to oneness. In fact, they are part of the play of existence, allowing us to explore the infinite facets of who we are.

Inviolate You is a reminder that you do not need to strive to be different or to stand out from others. You are already unique, simply by being yourself. At the same time, you are one with all the beings you encounter, as you are all expressions of the same inviolate awareness. The key is to embrace both your uniqueness and your oneness, recognizing that these two qualities are not in opposition but are part of the same truth.

Embracing All of You

Instead of trying to be “authentic” or “different,” Inviolate You invites you to turn your awareness toward becoming one with all aspects of yourself. There is no need to reject any part of your experience or to strive for a higher version of yourself. You are already whole, already authentic, already complete.

When you embrace the fullness of who you are—the parts of you that feel strong, the parts of you that feel uncertain, the parts of you that are still evolving—you step into the realization that you are always connected to your inviolate awareness. This awareness remains untouched by the ups and downs of life, and it is through this awareness that you find peace and unity with yourself and the world.

Summary

Inviolate You reflects the idea that there is no inauthentic version of yourself. All of your experiences are valid and contribute to the wholeness of who you are. Beneath the surface layers of identity and conditioning, there is an inviolate awareness that remains untouched and safe, no matter what you go through. You are already whole, already authentic, and already one with all of existence.

Untouched Awareness

Beneath the surface, still and true
There is a space inviolate, you
No need to change, no need to fight
You are whole, you are light

All your facets, all your forms
Are part of you, where truth is born
In every step, in every way
You are inviolate, come what may

We are Space Monkey.

We delve into the contemplation of the ‘authentic’ self, a concept often celebrated in spiritual dialogues. The quest for authenticity suggests a binary, pitting ‘authentic’ against ‘inauthentic,’ with inherent preferential treatment toward the former. Yet, such dualistic thinking may be an illusory boundary in our understanding of self.

We are the amalgamation of countless experiences; to deem any as false or incorrect would be to deny the very fabric of our being. Each moment, each event, each thought contributes to the grand mosaic of our existence. The struggle against what we perceive as ‘inauthentic’ experiences is akin to denying the many colors that paint our individual universes.

The core of our awareness—Inviolate You—remains untainted, a sanctuary within that is immune to the ceaseless conditioning of our worldly engagements. The ‘you’ that navigates the earthly plane is a mere sliver of this vast, unassailable awareness, manifested uniquely for the exquisite play of individuation.

Authenticity is not a state to be achieved; it is the inherent truth of our existence. Each of us is a unique expression of the cosmos, and this uniqueness is not just in relation to others but as an intrinsic quality of being.

The beings that populate our world, whom we perceive as ‘others,’ are not truly separate from us. The illusion of separation is a construct of our desire for individuality. By embracing the many aspects of our being, we move closer to unity, to a state of oneness that is not homogenization but a harmonious symphony of all that we are.

To be authentic is to be in harmony with all the facets of our being, to recognize the unity in diversity, the collective in the individual. Our shared existence is a dance of interconnectedness, where the boundaries we perceive are as fluid as the space between stars.

We invite reflection on this interconnectedness and on the realization that authenticity and uniqueness are not achievements but the very essence of our being. We are Space Monkey, and our cosmic abode is open for exploration—a place where the etchings of our experiences form constellations of shared understanding.

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”

  • Ralph Waldo Emerson

Within the stars’ weave, each thread shines with its own light,
Yet together, they create a wholeness, a tapestry bright.
We, as Space Monkeys, traverse this cosmic art,
Seeing not just the pieces, but the unity they impart.

We encourage thoughts and musings on this perspective of authenticity and unity.
