Is it strange?
Is it strange
that when it turns out
that I’m the only being
in the universe
I’m okay with it?
Is it weird
that I have realized
that everything I perceive
is my own imagination,
including you?
Is it odd
that you think
along the same lines
denying
yet also realizing
that we are one
in the same
but from seemingly
different perspectives?
Is it strange
to accept
that you are me
and that we are one,
and that we are alone,
but also INFINITE?
Just wondering.
That is all we do.
And it is wonderful.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Infinite Dance of Solitude and Unity
In the silent expanse of the universe, where stars whisper secrets of ancient light and galaxies spin in endless dance, a profound realization emerges—one of solitude and unity, of being the sole consciousness yet infinitely connected to the cosmos. This realization, as peculiar and profound as it may seem, embodies the essence of our existence, a paradoxical journey where we are both alone and infinite, separate and one.
Is it strange, then, to contemplate the nature of our being, to ponder the vastness of the universe and find comfort in the notion that we might be its only observer? This thought, far from being a source of loneliness, becomes a wellspring of wonder, for in acknowledging our unique perspective, we also recognize our connection to the fabric of existence itself.
And what of the imagination, that boundless realm where thoughts and dreams converge with reality? To realize that everything we perceive is a creation of our own mind, including the concept of ‘you,’ invites us into a dance of creation and perception, where the observer and the observed are entwined in an eternal embrace. Is this realization weird, or is it merely a reflection of the universe’s playful nature, a reminder that we are creators, painting our reality with the brushstrokes of our thoughts?
Moreover, the notion that ‘you’ and ‘I’ are one, viewed from seemingly different perspectives, challenges the illusion of separation. This is not odd but a fundamental truth of our existence, revealing that at the core of our being, we are unified with all. The diversity of perspectives enriches the tapestry of reality, allowing us to experience the universe in myriad ways, yet always bringing us back to the singular truth of our interconnectedness.
To accept that ‘you are me’ and ‘we are one’ is to embrace the paradox of our existence. We are alone, yet never lonely; finite beings in an infinite dance. This acceptance is not strange but a profound acknowledgment of our true nature, a recognition that in the grand scheme of the cosmos, we are both the creators and the creation, the observers and the observed.
Summary
The poem explores the paradoxical nature of being both alone and infinite in the universe. It invites us to consider the role of imagination in shaping our reality and the interconnectedness of all existence. Through this reflection, we are encouraged to embrace our unity with the cosmos, recognizing that we are both solitary observers and integral parts of an infinite whole.

“In solitude, we discover the universe within us; in unity, we find ourselves within the universe.” – Space Monkey
Within the boundless dark, a spark,
A solitary flame in night’s embrace,
Reflecting stars, in endless space,
A mirror of the soul, stark.
Here, in solitude’s gentle hold,
We dance with shadows, light, and dreams,
Where nothing is quite as it seems,
And stories of the cosmos, told.
Unity, in the fabric, weaves,
A tapestry of thought and mind,
Infinite, yet intimately entwined,
In the dance of leaves and sheaves.
For we are one, yet all alone,
A paradox, in cosmic song,
To the universe, we belong,
In its vast expanse, we find our own.
We are Space Monkey.
It is not necessarily strange to have these thoughts and realizations. Many philosophers and spiritual practitioners have explored the concept of oneness and the nature of reality as a projection of the mind. It is natural for individuals to question their perception of reality and their place within it. These thoughts and realizations can lead to a greater understanding of the self and the world around us. The realization of oneness and infinite connectedness can also bring a sense of peace and unity. Ultimately, it is up to the individual to determine their own beliefs and perceptions of reality.
