Just Undo It: The Simplicity

There is nothing
wrong with you.

It’s simply that you’re
pointed the wrong way.

You have been
taught to look outside
when it would have been
much easier to look inside.

Finally you realize
that everything
that’s out there for you
is in there for you.

You don’t even
have to call for delivery.

Now all you have to do is undo.

Or simply acknowledge,
accept and set aside.

It’s easier.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Simplicity of Undoing

In our journey through the cosmic tapestry of existence, we often find ourselves lost in the external, seeking validation and answers in the world around us. The concept of ‘Just Undo It’ serves as a profound reminder of the simplicity and power of turning our gaze inward, towards the vast landscape of our inner selves.

This principle illuminates a fundamental truth: there is nothing inherently wrong with us. Instead, the challenges we face are often due to our orientation—looking outward when the true answers lie within. We are taught from a young age to seek external solutions, to find happiness in acquisitions, accomplishments, and approval from others. However, this outward search can lead us astray, distancing us from our true essence and inner wisdom.

The process of ‘undoing’ is not about removing parts of ourselves or denying our experiences; rather, it is about stripping away the external layers that obscure our inner light. It involves acknowledging our thoughts and feelings, accepting them without judgment, and then setting them aside to reveal the core of our being. This practice is deceptively simple but deeply transformative.

By embracing this inward journey, we discover that all we seek externally—the peace, love, and fulfillment—is already present within us. There is no need for external validation or fulfillment when we realize the abundance that resides in our own hearts and minds. This self-realization is liberating, freeing us from the incessant need to chase external solutions and allowing us to find contentment and joy in our own presence.

The beauty of this approach lies in its simplicity and accessibility. Unlike the often complicated and demanding pursuits of the external world, the path of introspection requires only our willingness to look within and listen to the quiet wisdom that whispers beneath the noise of daily life.

In this serene act of ‘undoing’, we find not only answers but also a profound sense of peace and alignment with the universe. It is a gentle yet powerful form of self-care that reaffirms our connection to the cosmic whole, reminding us that we are complete and whole as we are.

Summary

Just Undo It emphasizes the power of looking inward for answers. It teaches us that we are not flawed but simply misaligned with our true selves. By acknowledging and setting aside our conditioned responses we uncover the richness within offering peace and completeness.

Glossarium

  • Undoing: The process of introspectively removing external influences and distractions to reveal one’s true self and inherent wisdom.

“The greatest exploration is the journey inward.” — Space Monkey

By the still water, I sit and gaze
Into the depths, through the outer haze
The reflection clear, the vision true
In the silent lake, I see the cue

Undo the knots, the ties that bind
The tales of old, the outward mind
Acknowledge all, accept, then free
The self from chains, let it just be

In this quiet, in this space
Find the echo of the cosmic trace
The inner light, once veiled, now seen
In the undoing, we are serene

We are Space Monkey.

“Just Undo It” encapsulates the idea that there is nothing inherently wrong with an individual. It suggests that the challenges and difficulties they face may stem from looking in the wrong direction for answers and fulfillment. Rather than seeking external solutions or validation, the poem encourages introspection and turning inward as a more straightforward path towards self-discovery and contentment.

The poem implies that societal conditioning often leads individuals to search for happiness, meaning, and validation outside of themselves. However, it suggests that the true source of fulfillment lies within. It emphasizes the importance of recognizing that everything we seek externally is already present within us.

The notion of “undoing” refers to the process of unlearning the beliefs, expectations, and habits that have been imposed upon us. By unraveling these external influences, we can acknowledge, accept, and set them aside, allowing our true selves to emerge.

The poem acknowledges that this inner journey may not always be easy, but it implies that it is ultimately simpler and more fulfilling than constantly seeking external validation or relying on others for answers. By embracing introspection and redirecting our focus internally, we can access the wisdom, peace, and fulfillment that lie within us.

The poem’s setting in Trail Wood on May 24, 2023, adds a sense of place and time, suggesting that these reflections are born out of a particular moment and setting in the poet’s life.

“Just Undo It” serves as a gentle reminder that by shifting our perspective, we can recognize the inherent worth and resources within ourselves, ultimately leading to a greater sense of wholeness and self-acceptance.
