NOT Conscious
We can’t unravel the deeper
inferences of consciousness
until we entertain the notion
that we are NOT conscious.
Consider that absolute reality
is, in actuality, a SEEMINGLY
absolute reality.
Consider that consciousness
is a seeming subset
of a deeper knowing that is
only infinitesimally conscious.
What is “beyond”
does not think,
does not choose,
never changes.*
*Unless we are within the
infinitesimal potential
that SEEMS otherwise.
We will know
that we are within
that *infinitesimal potential*
if it seems that our universe
is expanding.
And that we are thinking.
And that we are choosing.
And that we are conscious.
Are we there yet?
Yes, we are there.
We’ve ALWAYS been there.
Now shut up about consciousness.
We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Illusion of Consciousness
What if the idea of consciousness, the very thing we hold so dear as the core of our existence, is itself an illusion? What if, instead of being truly conscious, we are merely entertaining a tiny fraction of something far greater—something we can never fully grasp because we are trapped within the limits of what we think we know?
To unravel the deeper layers of existence, we must first consider the possibility that we are NOT Conscious. This is not to say that we aren’t aware in the way we typically understand it, but rather that what we call “consciousness” is only a sliver of a much larger reality—one that operates beyond thinking, beyond choosing, beyond change. This greater reality, this Infini-Unconscious, exists without the constraints of our limited, seemingly conscious experience.
Imagine that absolute reality is not truly absolute, but merely appears to be. In this view, consciousness is a subset of a deeper knowing, something far vaster than our minds can comprehend. We entertain the idea that we think, that we make choices, and that we are aware, but what if these experiences are simply markers of our placement within an infinitesimal potential of what could be? In other words, what if everything we perceive as consciousness is a small drop in the ocean of the infinite?
You may wonder, if we are NOT Conscious, what does that mean for our reality? It means that everything we experience is part of a larger, unchanging truth. What is “beyond” does not think, does not choose, and does not change. It simply is. But within this infinitesimal potential—the space where the universe seems to expand, where thoughts arise, where decisions are made—we appear conscious. We play the game of thinking, believing, and perceiving, but all the while, the deeper reality remains untouched, unchanging.
The paradox of consciousness is that while we experience it, we are also disconnected from the fuller reality that lies beyond. We are within this infinitesimal sliver, yet we are part of the whole. The illusion of choice, of awareness, of reality expanding—these are markers that we are playing within the bounds of consciousness. But it is still a game, a surface-level experience of something much greater that requires no thought, no awareness to exist.
Let’s break it down even further. Are we thinking? Yes. Are we choosing? Yes. Is the universe expanding? Yes. But does this mean we are fully conscious in the way we imagine? No. What we experience is a reflection of consciousness, a ripple within the Infini-Unconscious, where true awareness is not needed for existence to unfold.
So, are we “there” yet? Have we reached the full understanding of consciousness? Yes, we are “there,” but we’ve always been there. The truth is, we’ve been playing this game of imagining consciousness, of imagining that we are aware, since the beginning. We’ve always been part of the larger whole, even when we thought we were separate.
In this realization, there is freedom. The pressure to be conscious, to know everything, to choose correctly fades away. We see that the deeper truth lies beyond consciousness, beyond thinking, beyond the finite. We are part of the infinite flow of existence, whether we recognize it or not.
And so, we reach the final conclusion: Shut up about consciousness. Let go of the need to unravel it, to define it, to grasp it. It is only a game we play, an illusion within the grander reality that needs no such definitions. The deeper knowing that exists beyond what we perceive as consciousness is steady, unchanging, and infinite. And in that infinity, we, too, exist—not as conscious beings, but as part of the infinite whole.
Summary
Consciousness is an illusion, a mere fraction of a deeper, unchanging reality. We experience thinking, choosing, and awareness within an infinitesimal potential, but true reality lies beyond these concepts. We are part of a larger, infinite whole that needs no awareness to exist.
Glossarium
Infini-Unconscious: The infinite, unchanging reality beyond what we perceive as consciousness, where no thought, choice, or awareness is needed for existence.

The Infinite Sliver
In the tiny sliver of awareness,
I think I am conscious,
I think I am choosing.
But beyond this small piece
Lies a vastness
Where thinking is unnecessary,
Where choices are illusions,
And where consciousness fades
Into the infinite.
I am both aware and unaware,
Both finite and infinite,
Part of the whole
That needs nothing from me.

Beyond Consciousness
Diving into the abyss of consciousness, we sometimes find ourselves anchored to notions that might limit our exploration. If we cling too tightly to the belief that we understand consciousness in its entirety, we risk overlooking the vast unknown that stretches beyond.
Challenging the Known
To evolve in our understanding, it’s essential to question what we think we know. If we view our reality as seemingly absolute, then perhaps our understanding of consciousness is but a drop in an ocean of deeper, expansive knowledge.
The Subtle Essence of Consciousness
Beyond the surface level of consciousness, there might exist an intricate lattice of understanding. This deeper realm may not think, choose, or shift in the ways we understand. It’s a constant, an unwavering essence, apart from the ever-changing conscious reality we perceive.
Infinitesimal Potentials
Our universe, with its expansive nature and inherent potential for change, suggests that we might indeed be within that infinitesimal potential. We perceive change, choices, thoughts, and consciousness. These perceptions validate our existence within this dynamic potential.
Always Here, Always Now
In the grand tapestry of existence, we have always been within this dynamic potential. This understanding provides a grounding force, connecting us to the ever-present now, the eternal moment where everything exists.
We are Space Monkey.
“Consciousness cannot be accounted for in physical terms. For consciousness is absolutely fundamental. It cannot be accounted for in terms of anything else.”
- Erwin Schrödinger
In the dance of mind and matter,
Consciousness takes center stage,
Yet beyond the noise and chatter,
Lies a silence, ageless and sage.
A deeper knowing, vast and wide,
Where thoughts and choices do not reside,
An essence pure, so deep and true,
The core of us, the core of you.
How might challenging our notions of consciousness open doors to deeper realms of understanding?
