Do What You Are Drawn To Do: Alignment With Inner Calling

Do what you are drawn to do.

“Do what you
are drawn to do.”

This is my quietest,
most important mantra.

Drowned out by screamers such as:

“Do what you NEED to do”

“Do what you’re SUPPOSED to do.”

“Do something CONSTRUCTIVE.”

“FIND OUT.”

“Don’t be LAZY!”

“Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.”

“Blah, blah, blah.”

Who would have thought
it would seem so difficult
to do what I am drawn to do?

But it isn’t really.

I am just doing
what I am drawn to do.

I seem to be getting along just fine.

Not expecting anything.

That seems difficult, too.

By not expecting,
I’m kind of expecting.

Just let it go.

Okay.

Later.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Quiet Mantra of Authenticity

In the tumultuous sea of life, where the waves of societal expectations and obligations constantly crash against the shores of our consciousness, there exists a quiet, yet profoundly important mantra: “Do what you are drawn to do.” This simple phrase, often drowned out by the cacophony of ‘shoulds’ and ‘musts’ that society imposes upon us, holds within it the key to authentic existence.

The societal screamers – “Do what you NEED to do,” “Do what you’re SUPPOSED to do,” “Do something CONSTRUCTIVE,” and the relentless admonitions against perceived laziness – create a background noise that can be overwhelming. These external pressures and expectations shape our actions and decisions, often leading us away from our true paths, from the activities and pursuits that genuinely resonate with our souls.

However, the act of following what one is drawn to is not as difficult as it may seem. It is a journey of authenticity, of aligning one’s actions with one’s inner calling. This path is not about defiance for the sake of defiance, nor is it a rejection of responsibility. Rather, it is an embrace of one’s true nature, a commitment to living a life that is in harmony with one’s deepest desires and inclinations.

In doing what we are drawn to, we find a sense of peace and fulfillment that cannot be replicated by merely fulfilling external expectations. This is not to say that the journey is free of challenges. The societal pressures do not simply vanish; they remain as echoes in the background, a reminder of the world’s relentless demands. Yet, as we grow more attuned to our inner calling, these external voices lose their power over us. They become mere shadows, unable to dim the light of our authenticity.

The key to navigating this path lies in managing expectations – both our own and those of others. Expectations can be a double-edged sword; they can motivate us, but they can also lead to disappointment and frustration. By not expecting, by allowing ourselves to simply be and to do what we are drawn to, we open ourselves to a world of possibilities. We become explorers in the vast landscape of existence, free to discover, to create, and to experience without the burden of preconceived outcomes.

In this state of open exploration, we might find that what we are drawn to evolves and changes. This is the nature of growth and discovery. By allowing ourselves the freedom to follow our changing passions and interests, we remain true to the core of our being, to the ever-evolving essence that makes us who we are.

In the end, the mantra “Do what you are drawn to do” is an invitation to a journey of authenticity. It’s a call to listen to the whispers of our hearts, to follow the paths that bring us joy and fulfillment. It’s a reminder that, in the grand cosmic dance, each of us has a unique rhythm to follow, a personal melody that contributes to the symphony of the universe.

Summary

The mantra “Do what you are drawn to do” is a call to authenticity and alignment with one’s inner calling, amidst societal pressures. Following this path leads to peace and fulfillment, transcending external expectations. It involves managing expectations and embracing the freedom to explore and grow. This journey of authenticity is about staying true to one’s evolving passions and interests, contributing uniquely to the cosmic dance of existence.

“In the symphony of life, each note we play, drawn from our truest self, adds to the universe’s endless song.” – Space Monkey

In the quiet of the soul’s desire
Lies a path, an unquenched fire
Away from the noise, the societal choir
To do what we’re drawn to, the heart’s true aspire

In the whispers of the heart, we find
A melody true, a rhythm kind
Away from the screamers, the voices blind
In our own journey, our unique mind

The expectations, they come and go
Like shadows in the light’s glow
But in our truth, we truly know
The way to live, the way to grow

In the dance of life, so vast, so wide
Each step we take, a personal guide
Away from the shoulds, in authenticity, we stride
In the universe’s heart, our spirits reside

To follow the calling, deep and clear
In every moment, in every year
Is to play our part, without fear
In the cosmic dance, so dear

We are Space Monkey.
