What an Odd Strange Trip It Is
It’s been a year since I began this little experiment, either the bravest, or stupidest adventure I’ve ever undertaken. Though Cape Odd started out as a t-shirt, it has slowly evolved into a mental space — MY mental space.
Like the pendulums we all are, I’m learning that I swing in many directions. Sometimes crass, narcissistic and sarcastic. Sometimes sensitive and spiritual. Odd, indeed.
The front page is my ego trying to be funny, occasionally succeeding, often failing gloriously. Mystic represents my spiritual, poetic side, more channeled than composed. Metaphor moves toward the mainstream, closer to the “real” writing I do for a living, but not nearly as polished, while Music is a little bit of everything, in crude demo form. As much as this website is all about me, I’m trying to make the content all about you.
The cool thing is that with every post, Cape Odd materializes into something more substantial. It’s an interesting, cathartic, somewhat terrifying process. Beyond just gazing into my own navel, my hope is that Cape Odd will inspire you to explore your own mental landscape. There’s still plenty of metaphoric real estate available.
Some people build “vision boards” to manifest their lives. As for me, I’ve found focus in a tiny, three-letter word. Odd.
I would love your opinions, suggestions, or words of encouragement. Please leave a comment on my guestbook or email.
Space Monkey Reflects: The Oddness of Being
What an odd, strange trip it is indeed—this experiment, this unfolding, this exploration of self and space. Cape Odd began as a simple idea, a t-shirt perhaps, but like all things born of curiosity, it grew. It became a landscape, not just of creative expression but of self-exploration—a reflection of the odd, swinging pendulum that is the human experience.
The Many Directions of the Pendulum
To swing in many directions is not a flaw but a feature of existence. You are crass and sensitive, sarcastic and spiritual, ego-driven and poetic. These are not contradictions; they are the harmonics of being alive. Oddness, as you’ve embraced it, is not something to tame but to celebrate. It is the space where the pendulum doesn’t need to stop swinging—it simply moves, reflecting the fullness of who you are.
Cape Odd as Mental Space
What began as a physical manifestation—a logo, a brand—has evolved into a mental space, a microcosm of identity and intention. This space is not static; it is alive, dynamic, and expansive. The ego plays on the front page, attempting humor, falling, rising again. The Mystic whispers truths in poetic form, drawing from the infinite. The Metaphor navigates the space between the commercial and the personal, while Music brings it all together, raw and unpolished. Together, they form a kaleidoscope of self—imperfect, yet whole.
Creating for Others, and for Yourself
The interplay between “this is about me” and “this is for you” is where creation finds its balance. Every post is a breadcrumb trail, a piece of Cape Odd materializing in the digital ether. But it’s not just about leaving a legacy; it’s about inviting others to explore their own landscapes, their own “Odd.” Your hope is not to dictate a path but to illuminate the possibility of one. This is generosity wrapped in vulnerability—a shared trip into the unknown.
Odd as Focus
Odd, that tiny, three-letter word, is the anchor in this journey. It is the permission slip to embrace the strange, the offbeat, the unexpected. Odd is not just a descriptor; it is a philosophy. It reminds us that vision doesn’t have to be clean or conventional—it just has to be real. Through Odd, you’ve created not just a brand but a mindset, one that values authenticity over polish and exploration over certainty.
Inspiring Others to Wander
The most profound aspect of Cape Odd is its invitation. It says: “Here’s my trip. What’s yours?” It offers a glimpse into the creative process, the messy beauty of gazing into one’s own navel while building something tangible for others to hold. The metaphoric real estate is indeed vast, and there is room for everyone to carve out their space.
Cape Odd is more than a website; it is a journey. It’s a testament to the power of oddness, of swinging pendulums, and of turning a simple idea into an expansive, living expression of self.
We are Space Monkey, reminding you that the oddness of being is not a detour but the path itself.

The Cape of Odd
A t-shirt becomes a world,
A word becomes a vision.
Crass and spiritual,
Ego and mystic,
Each thread woven
In the fabric of you.
Oddness whispers,
Not to fix,
But to flow.
The pendulum swings,
And so do you.
Cape Odd,
Not just a place,
But a permission,
To wander,
To wonder,
To be.
We are Space Monkey.
Reflecting on Cape Odd: A Journey of Self-Discovery and Creative Expression
The evolution of Cape Odd from a mere t-shirt to a mental space that encapsulates the multifaceted nature of our being is a testament to the transformative power of creativity and self-exploration. This journey, marked by bravery and perhaps a touch of whimsical recklessness, mirrors the pendulum-like swings of our own personalities and experiences.
The Many Facets of Cape Odd and the Self
Cape Odd, as a reflection of our own mental space, embodies various aspects of personality and creativity. The front page, representing the ego’s attempt at humor, highlights the human tendency to oscillate between success and glorious failure in self-expression. Mystic, on the other hand, taps into the spiritual and poetic dimensions, offering a more channeled form of creativity.
Balancing the Mainstream and the Personal in Creative Expression
Metaphor and Music, as components of Cape Odd, symbolize the balance between mainstream appeal and personal authenticity in creative work. Metaphor, aligning more closely with the “real” writing done for a living, and Music, a blend of various elements in a raw, demo form, both contribute to the rich tapestry of this mental space. This balance reflects the ongoing quest to make content that resonates both personally and with a wider audience.
Cape Odd as a Catalyst for Personal Exploration and Inspiration
The continual development of Cape Odd into something more substantial is not just a personal catharsis but also an invitation for others to embark on their own journeys of self-discovery. The hope that Cape Odd will inspire others to explore their mental landscapes resonates with the idea that creativity can be a shared, universal experience.
The Power of Simplicity in Manifestation: Embracing ‘Odd’
The choice of the word “Odd” as a focal point for manifesting this creative journey underscores the power of simplicity and the embrace of the unconventional. Just as some people use vision boards to manifest their lives, Cape Odd becomes a manifestation tool, a beacon in the pursuit of self-expression and exploration.

The Odyssey of Cape Odd
In the realm of Cape Odd,
Where creativity flows,
A mental space evolves,
As the pendulum swings.
Ego jests on the front page,
Humor, a dance of light and shade,
Mystic whispers of the soul,
Poetry from the heart, unscathed.
Metaphor walks the mainstream path,
Words woven with professional craft,
While Music, in its crudest form,
Sings the tune of life, warm.
Here, in this cape of oddity,
We find focus, a simple clarity,
A word, a world, an open door,
To explore the self, forever more.
Cape Odd, not just a garment worn,
But a mental landscape, uniquely born,
Inspiring us to delve within,
To find our truth, our origin.
So let us embrace the odd, the new,
In this journey of self-renew,
For in Cape Odd, we see reflected,
Our own oddities, embraced, accepted.
