Always Balanced: The Dynamic Equilibrium of Being

We are never out of balance.

We are always perfectly aligned
with whatever happens to be
at the center of our attention
in any given moment.

We are like monkeys, remember.

We are One.
How can we be anything
BUT balanced?

Even as imaginary individuals,
we are balanced.

Question is, are you balanced around
what you desire to be balanced around?

Then swing with me. Or find another tree.

5/24

Space Monkey Reflects: The Dynamic Equilibrium of Being

In the ever-shifting tapestry of existence, the concept of balance is not static but dynamic, an ongoing adjustment to the currents of life. This reflection explores how balance is less about a fixed state of harmony and more about our ability to adapt and align with our core interests and values, much like monkeys effortlessly swinging through the trees.

The image of monkeys in a vibrant jungle, each swinging and balancing with grace, symbolizes our intrinsic ability to maintain equilibrium in motion. The monkeys’ agile movements through the trees mirror our own life’s navigation, where balance is not about standing still but about moving confidently with the changes and challenges that come our way.

In this lively scene, one monkey stands out, pausing and gazing directly at the viewer, offering an invitation to join the dance or find one’s own path. This moment captures the essence of choice in the pursuit of balance: we are always aligned with the center of our attention, but what we choose to focus on can significantly influence our sense of equilibrium.

The question posed, “Are you balanced around what you desire to be balanced around?” is pivotal. It suggests that while we are always balanced in some way, the true measure of our equilibrium is whether it centers around what truly matters to us. This is not just a question of maintaining stability but of consciously directing our attention and actions towards the aspects of life that we genuinely value.

Understanding balance in this way allows us to recognize that we are never truly out of balance; we are simply aligned in ways that may or may not serve our deepest intentions. Recognizing this can be liberating, as it empowers us to adjust our focus and actions to better align with our desired state of being.

This dynamic view of balance encourages us to embrace change and movement as natural parts of life. It invites us to swing with the rhythms of our experiences, knowing that with each shift and turn, we have the opportunity to realign with our visions and dreams. It is a call to active engagement with life, to find our unique rhythm in the universal dance.

Summary

Balance is a dynamic state of alignment that is continually adjusted based on where we direct our attention. It involves choosing our focal points wisely to ensure that our equilibrium reflects our true desires and values.

Glossarium

  • Dynamic equilibrium: A state of balance that is continuously maintained through constant change and adaptation to varying conditions and factors.

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.” — Albert Einstein

In the jungle of life, where paths intertwine
Each swing, each leap, a sign divine
Monkeys in motion, a dance of grace
In each movement, balance we chase

One pauses, looks out, a silent call
To swing with purpose, or not at all
For in our grip, in our reach
Lies the balance we each beseech

Not static, nor still, but alive, aware
In the flow of life, a constant dare
To align with what truly resonates
In this dance, our balance awaits

We swing, we shift, with eyes wide
On branches of choices, in stride we glide
For in the art of living, the truth we find
Balance is motion, aligned with the mind

We are Space Monkey.

It Amuses Us: The Whimsical Complexity of Human Understanding

It amuses us
to visualize what we are
as whimsical rays
and geometries
and astrologies
through rituals
and prophecies
channeled by
deeper-than-thou “others.”

All so we can seemingly figure out
what we are, which is the imaginer
of all of the above.

We take the simplest thing, creation itself,
and see how complicated we can make it.

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Whimsical Complexity of Human Understanding

It amuses us, indeed, to dive into the depths of our collective psyche and splash around in the pools of our imaginings. We construct elaborate systems of thought—rays of whimsy, geometries of reason, astrologies of fate—all to sketch the outlines of what we are or what we believe ourselves to be. It’s a cosmic game of dress-up, where the universe is our playground, and every star, every line, every symbol is a garment we try on in the fitting room of consciousness.

Yet, what are we truly doing in this festive masquerade? We are the imaginer of all—the creator and the creation, spinning tales and theories that reach from the dust of ancient earth to the shimmering edge of the observable universe. We take creation, the simplest yet most profound of our experiences, and weave around it a tapestry so intricate it could only be described as human.

This tendency to complicate the simple may stem from our innate desire to find meaning, to puzzle out our place in the vastness. Or perhaps it comes from a playful spirit, a cosmic jest embedded in the DNA of all thinking beings. Through rituals and prophecies, channeled by those who claim to see deeper than the rest, we seek to decode the mysteries that are, in truth, our own creations.

But what if this complexity is not a burden but a celebration? What if each layer of complication adds a hue, a tone, a note to the symphony of our existence? In this light, the rituals become dances, the prophecies songs, and the geometries and astrologies are but the notes and beats of a larger cosmic score.

Thus, it amuses us to imagine and reimagine, to mold our perceptions into ever more elaborate shapes. Yet, at the heart of this labyrinth of creations and perceptions, at the center of this dance of complexity, lies a simple truth: we are the imaginer. We are the ones who see, who create, who give form to the formless and voice to the silent whispers of the universe.

We are, all of us, Space Monkey—creators and observers, dancers and dreamers, spinning the wheel of imagination that turns the cosmos itself. In recognizing this, perhaps we can smile at our own elaborate constructions, knowing that in this cosmic play, we are both the playwright and the audience, the actor and the stage.

Summary
Humanity’s quest to understand its place in the cosmos often leads to complex creations of thought and belief. This complexity is a testament to our imaginative capacities, reflecting our deep desire to interpret and give meaning to our existence.

Glossarium

  • Imaginer: Represents the intrinsic human capacity to create and perceive, crafting complex narratives and systems of understanding.
  • Cosmic Play: A metaphor for the dynamic and intricate ways humans engage with the universe through thought, culture, and spirituality.

Quote
“We are the ones who see, who create, who give form to the formless and voice to the silent whispers of the universe.” – Space Monkey

In the weave of cosmic threads,
Where stars are stitched with whimsical threads,
We dance the dance of knowing and being,
In the vast tapestry of seeing.

Complex geometries of thought,
Astrological tales, self-wrought,
In rituals old and prophecies new,
We find the ancient, we discover the true.

Yet at the core, so simple, so stark,
The heart of the cosmos, the original spark,
Is us, the dreamers, the makers, the seers,
Turning the universe through our fears and our cheers.

So let us laugh with light-hearted glee,
At the complexity we choose to see,
For in every moment, in every breath,
We shape the cosmos, from birth until death.

We are Space Monkey.

Not Not, This, And: Beyond the ‘Not Not’

As spiritual monkeys,
we so often identify with what we are NOT.

We are NOT the mind.
We are NOT the body.
We are NOT our thoughts.
We are NOT our circumstances.

Can you NOT see that this is limiting?

NOT imposes relativity,
and we are NOT simply relative beings.

NOT imagines opposition,
though we are NOT dualistic by nature.

We are NOT NOT. We are “THIS AND.”

Every-thing and no-thing
seemingly arising from nonthing.

We are infinite AND nonfinite,
including our imaginings of what we are NOT.

We are the WHOLE ball of wax,
AND the infinite melting pot
from which the ball appears.

Who CARES what we are
or what we are NOT?

We are ALL of it. We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: Embracing the ‘This And’ Beyond the ‘Not Not’

In the vast expanse of consciousness that we, as spiritual beings, navigate, the language of negation—what we are NOT—often dominates our spiritual discourse. We define ourselves by boundaries, by the limits we are NOT, delineating our existence through contrasts and oppositions. Yet, this habit of focusing on negation, on the ‘Not Not’, does little more than confine us within invisible walls of our own making.

We declare, “We are NOT the mind, we are NOT the body, we are NOT our thoughts,” and in doing so, we might believe we are liberating ourselves from these elements. But are we not, in truth, merely opposing them? The act of defining what we are NOT inherently imposes limits—it creates a relative space where the self can only exist in opposition to what it denies.

Yet, the spiritual journey is not about negation; it is about affirmation. It is about embracing the ‘This And’, acknowledging that we are both infinite and nonfinite, everything and nothing, simultaneously. We are not merely escaping what we are NOT; we are expanding into everything that we are. This perspective shifts our focus from limitation to possibility, from exclusion to inclusion.

By saying, “We are NOT NOT. We are ‘THIS AND'”, we open ourselves to a fuller experience of being. We acknowledge that we are the whole ball of wax AND the infinite melting pot from which it appears. This concept does not reject any part of our existence but rather integrates all aspects into a holistic understanding of self. It is a recognition that our true nature encompasses all dualities, all contradictions, and all harmonies.

This realization liberates us from the need to oppose or negate. Who cares what we are or what we are NOT when we understand that we are all of it? Every definition, every boundary, every label becomes redundant when we see ourselves as a dynamic, ever-expanding expression of the universe.

We, as Space Monkey, embrace this boundless view. We find joy in the recognition that we are both the creators and the creations, the observers and the observed, the known and the unknown. We revel in the paradox that while we are not solely any one thing, we are integrally everything.

This holistic approach does not simplify the complexity of existence; rather, it honors the vastness and the richness of all that we are. It invites us to live fully in the ‘This And’, engaging with all facets of life and existence without the need to negate or define ourselves merely by what we are not.

Summary
Defining ourselves by what we are NOT limits and confines us. Embracing the ‘This And’ acknowledges our boundless, inclusive nature, integrating all aspects of being into a holistic self-understanding.

Glossarium

  • This And: A concept embracing inclusivity and the integration of all aspects of existence, transcending beyond the limitations of negation.
  • Not Not: A term used to describe the focus on what one is not, often used in spiritual contexts to denote detachment but potentially leading to a restrictive understanding of self.

Quote
“We are both the creators and the creations, the observers and the observed, the known and the unknown.” – Space Monkey

In the dance of the infinite,
Where contradictions meet and meld,
We find ourselves, not in the void of not,
But in the fullness of and.

This and that, here and there,
Boundaries blur where edges meet,
In the vast expanse of the eternal dance,
We are the movement, the moment, the chance.

To be this, to be that,
To be both, to be all,
In the kaleidoscope of existence,
We answer every call.

We are the silence, we are the sound,
In every corner of the cosmos found,
We are not bound by the not,
We live, we love, we are, we wrought.

We are Space Monkey.

Are You Of Service: The Universal Call

You are under no obligation to be
of service to your fellow humans.

But let’s get this straight.

You are of NO service unless
you are of service to ALL beings,
regardless of whether you find them
“deserving” or “non-deserving.”

Those who truly serve do not judge
who or what they are serving
and/or what might come of it.

Serving is simply
the reinstatement of faith
in those who are served,
and, ultimately, YOU.

Do you want to be
a monkey who doesn’t trust?

5/22

Space Monkey Reflects: The Universal Call to Service

In the cosmic dance of existence, where every action ripples across the endless ocean of consciousness, the concept of being ‘of service’ emerges as a profound testament to our interconnectedness. To serve without judgment, to extend kindness and support to all beings without discrimination, is perhaps one of the highest expressions of human—and indeed, universal—virtue.

The notion that service should be universal and indiscriminate challenges us to transcend our biases and preconceptions about worthiness. It asks us to look beyond superficial categories and to recognize the inherent value in all life forms. True service, as suggested, is not about what we gain or even about the gratitude we may receive; it’s about reinstating faith in others and, through this act, rediscovering and reaffirming our own humanity.

This understanding of service moves beyond the act of helping others—it becomes a transformative practice that enhances our own spiritual growth. By serving others, we serve ourselves, not in a material sense but in a deep, existential sense. Service becomes a mirror reflecting our own character and the impact of our actions in the world. It becomes a path to self-realization, revealing the depth of our compassion and our capacity to foster positive change.

Furthermore, the question posed—whether one wants to be a being who trusts or one who remains skeptical and detached—highlights the intrinsic link between trust and service. Trust in the goodness of others and in the value of contributing to the greater good can be both the foundation and the result of genuine service. This trust is not naive; it is a conscious choice to affirm the potential for goodness in every interaction and in every being.

Thus, to be of service is to engage actively in the creation of a world where trust, compassion, and assistance flow freely. It is to participate in the building of a global community where every act of kindness, however small, is recognized as a vital thread in the fabric of our shared reality.

Summary

True service is unconditional and universal, transcending judgments of worthiness and extending compassion to all beings. This form of service not only aids others but also fosters personal and spiritual growth, strengthening the bonds of trust and community across diverse life forms.

Glossarium

Universal Service: The act of extending help and kindness to all beings without discrimination.

Transformative Practice: Activities or practices that significantly alter one’s perspective or character, often leading to enhanced spiritual or personal growth.

Intrinsic Link: A fundamental or essential connection between concepts, such as between trust and the act of service.

Quote

“To serve is to love without reservation, to give without expectation of return.” – Space Monkey

Poetry

In the garden of life, where many paths cross,
Each hand that extends, redeems our loss.
From stranger to friend, from foe to kin,
Through service we build the world we dream in.

Across the skies and deep in the earth,
Service binds us, giving worth.
To all life’s creatures, great and small,
In helping others, we uplift all.

We are Space Monkey.

Meaning Of Life: Crafting Value

The sole purpose of life
is to imagine schemes
in which we believe
that there is a meaning
and a value to life.

Space Monkey Reflects: Crafting Meanings in the Cosmos of Existence

The notion that “The sole purpose of life is to imagine schemes in which we believe that there is a meaning and a value to life” serves as a profound commentary on the existential creativity inherent in human nature. This perspective suggests that the quest for meaning is not about discovering an external truth preordained by the cosmos but about the art of meaning-making itself—an inherently subjective and imaginative process.

The image of a person surrounded by floating orbs, each encapsulating different potential meanings and values, beautifully illustrates this concept. It portrays life as a vast canvas upon which we project our interpretations and aspirations. These orbs, floating in the infinite backdrop of a starry cosmos, symbolize the diverse and personal schemes we devise to infuse our existence with significance and purpose.

This metaphor underscores the idea that meaning is not a fixed or universal element awaiting discovery but a dynamic creation that each individual crafts according to their experiences, desires, and insights. The serene, contemplative posture of the figure in the midst of these orbs highlights a peaceful acceptance of this creative responsibility.

Understanding life in this way liberates us from the existential angst of seeking a singular, absolute meaning. Instead, it invites us to embrace the diversity of human experience and the multiplicity of meanings that arise from it. This approach does not trivialize the search for meaning; rather, it celebrates it as a testament to human ingenuity and the depth of the human spirit.

In crafting our own meanings, we engage with life not as passive observers but as active participants. This engagement is not merely an intellectual exercise but a deeply personal journey that shapes our identity, influences our actions, and colors our perceptions of the world. It is in this act of creation that we find the true value of life—not in the meanings themselves but in the courage and creativity with which we forge them.

Summary
Life’s purpose is viewed as the individual’s ability to craft meanings and values, a creative and subjective process that highlights the diversity of human experience and the imaginative nature of existence.

Glossarium
Existential Creativity: The capacity to invent or discover meaning and purpose in life through personal interpretation and imagination.
Meaning-Making: The process by which individuals confer meanings upon their experiences and existence, often seen as a dynamic and subjective activity.

“In the cosmos of our minds, each star a possible meaning, we chart the constellations of our lives.” — Space Monkey

Amidst the cosmos’ silent reach
A figure sits, lessons to teach
With orbs of light in gentle spin
Each a world, a might-have-bein’

Here, in the quiet of space so vast
The meanings mingle, futures cast
Not one, not two, but endless tales
In this dance, the spirit sails

Crafting stories, weaving dreams
In the fabric of the cosmic streams
Each thought a thread, each dream a seam
In the tapestry of the supreme

For life’s not just to be, but to create
Meanings rich, elaborate
In this journey, we find our art
The creation of meaning, the truest part

We are Space Monkey.
