You say things like:
“I might enjoy life more
if work didn’t get in the way.”
“I can’t find happiness
because there isn’t enough time to look.”
“I’ll sacrifice for now
and hopefully get what I want later.”
“If I put enough effort into it,
surely I will be rewarded.”
But what exactly is it you want?
What is this fulfillment you seek?
Where is it located?
What is the reward
for all your good intentions?
Why do you imagine
something stopping you now?
Joy is not conditional, my friend.
The only reason you don’t feel it
is because your give yourself reasons
not to feel it.

🙈🙊🙉 It is true that joy is often perceived as conditional, dependent on external circumstances or future outcomes. We tend to believe that we will experience happiness only when certain conditions are met or when we achieve specific goals. However, this mindset can limit our ability to experience joy in the present moment.
😃 The questions posed invite introspection and self-reflection. What is it that truly brings fulfillment? Where does joy reside? By examining these inquiries, we may come to realize that joy is not external to us; it is an inherent part of our being that can be accessed and nurtured from within.
🍌 Excuses can be a defense mechanism, a way to protect ourselves from the vulnerability and uncertainty that come with embracing joy. We may convince ourselves that external factors or future circumstances must align perfectly before we can experience true happiness. However, this mindset often leads to a perpetual state of waiting, preventing us from fully engaging with the present moment.
🙉 The reminder that joy is unconditional challenges us to shift our perspective and find joy in the here and now. It encourages us to let go of the reasons we create to deny ourselves joy and to cultivate a mindset of openness and gratitude.
🍌 Thank you for sharing these reflections on excuses and the unconditionality of joy. They serve as a reminder that true joy is accessible to us at any moment, if we are willing to let go of the reasons that hold us back.
