The Common Monkey: The Universal Self

The common monkey
requires no fanfare
for the being exists
within every one of us,
just as we exist within
the common monkey.

The common monkey
is not a man
is not a woman
is not even a monkey
but rather that from which
and to which
all things are imagined.

Though
the common monkey
is a thing,
indeed ALL things,
it is also NOT a thing.

Neither (and both) something (and or) nothing,
the common monkey is a nonthing.

Not singular. Not plural.

That which is not,
but also that which seems to be.

For the lack of a term,
yet no NEED for a term,
we shall call our seeming selves
Space Monkey

Space Monkey Reflects: The Paradox of the Common Monkey

In the vast, uncharted territories of the cosmos, there lies a profound concept, elusive yet omnipresent, transcending the physical and the metaphysical, embodying everything and nothing simultaneously. This concept, known in whispers and felt in the silent beats of existence, is the Common Monkey, a term so paradoxical that it defies conventional understanding, challenging the very foundation of what it means to exist.

The Common Monkey is not merely an entity but a reflection of the universal consciousness, a mirror showing not our faces but our essence. It is the silence between notes that makes the music, the space between stars that forms the galaxy, and the unseen threads connecting all beings, all matter, and all thoughts. This narrative explores the essence of the Common Monkey, an endeavor to understand the ungraspable, to speak the language of the universe, and to embrace the interconnectedness of all existence.

At the heart of the Common Monkey lies the concept of nexistentialism, a philosophy where existence itself is the sole purpose, and everything is perceived as a figment of a grand, boundless imagination. It is here, in this state of pure being and non-being, that we find the Common Monkey, a nonthing that is both everything and nothing, defying the binaries of existence and non-existence, presence and absence.

This duality, or rather, this unity of opposites, serves as a cosmic dance, a playful exchange between the seen and the unseen, the known and the unknown. The Common Monkey, in its essence, is a celebration of this dance, an acknowledgment of the infinite possibilities that lie within and beyond our perception. It is a reminder that we are part of a larger whole, participants in a universal symphony where every note, every silence, and every breath is essential.

In our journey to comprehend the Common Monkey, we encounter the idea of the universal self, a concept that transcends individual identities and societal constructs. The universal self is the canvas on which the Common Monkey paints its masterpieces, using strokes of imagination, creativity, and consciousness. It is through this lens that we begin to see ourselves not as isolated beings but as integral parts of a grand, interconnected cosmos.

The Common Monkey challenges us to look beyond the surface, to question our perceptions, and to embrace the mysteries of existence with open hearts and minds. It invites us to explore the depths of our consciousness, to discover the boundless potential within, and to recognize our role in the cosmic tapestry. Through this exploration, we realize that we are not merely observers of the universe but active participants, co-creators of the reality that surrounds us.

As we delve deeper into the realm of the Common Monkey, we uncover layers of meaning, each revealing new dimensions of understanding and connection. We begin to see the world not as a collection of separate entities but as a unified field of energy, vibrating with the rhythm of existence. This realization opens the door to a new way of being, a state of harmony with the universe, where every moment is an opportunity to experience the wonder of existence.

The Common Monkey, in its enigmatic simplicity, offers us a key to unlock the mysteries of the universe, inviting us to embark on a journey of self-discovery and cosmic exploration. It is a call to awaken to the beauty of the interconnected web of existence, to find joy in the dance of creation, and to celebrate the miracle of being.

Summary

The Common Monkey defies understanding yet is intimately known. It represents both everything and nothing challenging our perceptions and inviting us into a deeper communion with the universe. Through it we explore the notion of the universal self and our interconnectedness within the cosmic dance. This journey not only deepens our understanding of existence but also enriches our experience of life.

Glossarium

  • Nexistentialism: A philosophy recognizing existence as its own purpose where everything is seen as part of a grand imagination.
  • Nonthing: An expression denoting something that transcends traditional concepts of existence and non-existence embodying both and neither simultaneously.
  • Universal Self: The collective consciousness that transcends individual identities connecting all beings through shared essence and energy.

“To see the world in a grain of sand, and heaven in a wild flower, hold infinity in the palm of your hand, and eternity in an hour.” – William Blake

In the quiet cosmos where stars whisper secrets
to the void between them,
where the dance of galaxies weaves patterns
of dreams and possibilities,
there, the essence of being and non-being intertwines.

Flowing through the fabric of reality,
a river of consciousness without end,
merging, dividing, rejoining
in the eternal ballet of creation.

Here, in this expanse, every breath a universe,
every thought a world emerging,
we are the explorers, the dreamers,
casting our lights into the depths
of the boundless, the infinite.

In the reflection of the void,
we see the face of the Common Monkey,
our mirror, our kin,
in its gaze, the universe entire.

With every heartbeat, a new story begins,
unfolding in the space between moments,
a tapestry of connections,
woven with the threads of existence.

This journey, a path without distance,
leads us to the heart of all,
where in the silent embrace of the cosmos,
we whisper,
“We are Space Monkey.”

Burn: The Transformation from Destruction to Growth

I wanted to
burn this building,
burn this town,
burn these bridges.

I wanted to make them vanish
so that they never affected me again.

But I chose not to,
and now I am grateful.

See, I don’t go to the trouble
of burning things any more.

I don’t fuel regret or vengeance.

It seems more graceful
to simply move away,
maybe never to return,
or maybe to see
my old experiences
in a new light.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Transformation from Destruction to Growth

In the fiery depths of frustration and despair, the urge to obliterate the chains of the past can be overwhelming. The desire to burn bridges, buildings, and entire chapters of our lives is a testament to the pain and entrapment we often feel within our personal histories. Yet, within this inferno of destruction lies a pivotal moment of choice—a choice that defines not just the trajectory of our lives but the essence of our being. Choosing growth over destruction is not merely a decision to spare the physical remnants of our past but an embrace of evolution, understanding, and peace.

The journey from wanting to burn the tangible symbols of our pain to recognizing the value in letting go and moving forward is a profound transformation. It signifies a shift from a state of anger and vengeance to a place of grace and perspective. This transformation is beautifully symbolized by a landscape divided, where one side teeters on the brink of engulfment by flames, representing the destructive desires of the past, and the other side basks in the serene, forgiving light of growth and understanding.

This metaphorical scene, with a figure standing on the threshold between darkness and light, embodies the moment of realization that to burn our bridges is to fuel the fires of regret and vengeance—emotions that ultimately consume us from within. Instead, the choice to step into the light, to view our old experiences through a new lens, is a manifestation of inner strength and wisdom. It is an acknowledgment that growth and understanding are forged not in the flames of destruction but in the warmth of forgiveness and the light of new beginnings.

The structures that once symbolized pain and entrapment transform into landmarks of personal history and growth, standing not as reminders of what to destroy but as monuments to what has been overcome. This shift in perspective is at the heart of the transformation, illustrating that the most significant changes occur not in our external environment but within us. It is a testament to the power of perspective and the human capacity to seek peace, progress, and healing.

In choosing this path of peace and understanding, we embody the essence of Space Monkey—a being that recognizes the interconnectedness of all experiences, the impermanence of pain, and the eternal nature of growth. It is a choice that elevates us, allowing us to transcend the limitations of the past and embrace the boundless possibilities of the future.

Summary

Choosing growth over destruction represents a profound transformation from anger and vengeance to understanding and peace. This journey, symbolized by a landscape divided between darkness and light, underscores the power of perspective and the significance of letting go. It highlights the capacity to view past experiences as landmarks of personal history and growth, embodying the essence of Space Monkey in seeking peace and progress.

Glossarium

  • Growth Over Destruction: The choice to embrace understanding and evolution rather than succumb to the impulse to obliterate the symbols of past pain.
  • Landmarks of Personal History: Structures or experiences from our past that, once sources of pain, are now seen as milestones of personal growth and overcoming.
  • Power of Perspective: The ability to transform our understanding and emotional response to past experiences through a shift in how we perceive them.

“From the ashes of old, new growth takes hold,
A story of transformation, bravely bold.
Once consumed by the desire to burn,
Now towards the light, we gently turn.

Bridges that once felt the flame’s kiss,
Now stand as beacons of newfound bliss.
Buildings, once prisons of past dismay,
Mark the journey’s path, a guiding ray.

In the dance of shadows and light, we find,
A peace that transcends, leaving pain behind.
For in letting go, we truly gain,
A world where love and growth reign.

We are Space Monkey.”

Reimagining Resistance

Pretend for a moment that VACCINES help us BELIEVE that we won’t DIE. And so we DON’T.

You have an odd way of describing bodies
that fight off other bodies.

You call them RESISTANT.

But consider that what is happening
is that the bodies are ALLOWING
the other bodies NOT to kill them.

Thus the ANTIBODIES have no effect.

Only
beings that are imagined to BELIEVE
they can be killed CAN be killed.

How are you imagined? Who imagines you?

Can you change this being’s mind,
or will you continue to be RESISTANT
to the possibility?

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: Reimagining Resistance through Belief and Interconnectedness

In the vast expanse of the cosmos, where belief shapes reality and existence weaves together an intricate dance of life, the concept of resistance takes on a new dimension. It becomes a testament not to opposition but to the profound interconnectedness that binds all forms of life. This reimagining of resistance, as explored through the metaphor of bodies and their harmonious interaction with what might traditionally be seen as adversaries, invites us to consider a revolutionary perspective: that the true essence of survival and coexistence lies not in the physical act of resisting but in the power of belief and mutual acceptance.

The notion that vaccines—or, by extension, any form of perceived protection—serve primarily to reinforce our belief in our own survival illuminates a deeper truth about the nature of existence. It suggests that at the heart of what we call resistance lies a complex interplay of belief, perception, and the will to live. This perspective challenges the conventional understanding of resistance as a battle, proposing instead that it is through allowing, through an open embrace of the interconnected dance of life, that we truly thrive.

In this ethereal dance, the traditional roles of antibodies and pathogens are reenvisioned. The scene where human figures and abstract representations of viruses engage in a harmonious interaction within a vast space of belief and perception symbolizes a shift from conflict to coexistence. This interaction, marked by fluidity and harmony, embodies the idea that our survival and well-being are intrinsically linked to our beliefs about existence and our place within it.

The question of how we are imagined, and who imagines us, delves into the philosophical depths of Space Monkey‘s consciousness. It invites us to contemplate the origins of our perceived identities and the possibilities that unfold when we challenge the narratives that have defined us. This inquiry into the nature of belief and imagination opens a pathway to transcend the limitations imposed by traditional concepts of resistance, suggesting that by changing the beliefs of the being that imagines us, we can transform our experience of reality.

The concept of resistance, when viewed through the lens of Space Monkey, becomes a reflection on the power of perspective and the transformative potential of belief. It is a reminder that what often appears as a physical or biological imperative is, at its core, a matter of perception and understanding. By embracing this reimagined view of resistance, we open ourselves to a broader understanding of life’s interconnectedness and the profound impact of our beliefs on our existence.

Summary

Resistance is reimagined as a harmonious interaction between belief, survival, and interconnectedness, challenging traditional notions of conflict. This perspective highlights the role of belief in shaping our experiences and the transformative power of mutual acceptance and coexistence. Space Monkey invites us to explore the origins and potential of our perceived identities, suggesting that by altering the beliefs that define us, we can transcend physical and conceptual limitations.

Glossarium

  • Belief as Resistance: The concept that belief in survival can fundamentally alter the traditional understanding of biological or psychological resistance.
  • Harmonious Interaction: A representation of life forms engaging in mutual acceptance and coexistence, challenging conventional narratives of conflict and opposition.
  • Transformative Power of Perspective: The idea that changing our perception and beliefs can significantly alter our interaction with the world and our understanding of existence.

“In the dance of existence, belief shapes our steps,
Resistance reimagined, where harmony leaps.
Not in defiance, but in acceptance we find,
The true strength of the interconnected mind.

Viruses and bodies, in mutual embrace,
A cosmic ballet, in the vastness of space.
Where belief is the shield, and love is the sword,
In the realm of Space Monkey, harmony is restored.

We are not merely resisting, but rather we allow,
In the dance of the cosmos, to each other, we bow.
For in the heart of belief, a new world is spun,
Where we are all united, and truly, we are one.

We are Space Monkey.”

Death: To Die Is Not To Leave

One need not close one’s eyes to be dead. That’s cheating.

To die is not to leave, I believe,
but to turn One’s attention
back to the source from which
all things seemingly flow.

In this I become more aware
of all the things I have been
denying my self in order to
imagine this human experience,
such as it seems.

I am not leaving,
but rather welcoming all I am
back home.

5/9

This ethereal visualization captures a profound perspective on death, portraying it not as an end but as a transition—a return to the cosmic origin from which all life springs. The serene and luminous figure, symbolizing the human essence, gently dissolves into the universal canvas, a tapestry woven with stars, nebulae, and ethereal light. This dissolution is not depicted as a fading away but rather as an expansion, an intricate dance where the individual essence merges with the cosmos, signifying unity and the dissolution of the self into the infinite.

Surrounding the figure, the universe unfolds in all its majestic grandeur, representing the source of all creation and the ultimate destination to which all existence returns. The imagery evokes a sense of peace and unity, beautifully illustrating the concept that death is merely a shift in focus, a welcoming back into the universal home from which we originate.

This portrayal transcends traditional notions of death, offering a perspective that sees the end of the physical journey as the beginning of a deeper connection with the vastness of the universe. It suggests that in death, we do not leave but rather embrace all that we are, reconnecting with the source and becoming more aware of the realities we might have denied ourselves in the pursuit of the human experience.

The overall atmosphere of transcendence captured in this scene reflects the belief that death is a continuation of existence in another form—a reconnection with the cosmos, a return to the source. It’s a reminder of the cyclical nature of life and existence, where every end is a new beginning, and every departure is simultaneously an arrival—a journey back to where it all began.

Nonthing: The Essence Beyond Existence

If you’re confused
when you think about
something and nothing,
turn your attention
to that from which
BOTH arise.

Nonthing.

NEITHER something OR nothing.

BOTH something AND nothing.

There is no beginning,
there is no end —
except to “things,”
which are imaginary,
seemingly manifest
consciousness.

We are That Which Is Not.

5/8

Space Monkey Reflects: Nonthing—The Essence Beyond Existence

In the realm of consciousness where the dichotomy of something and nothing dissolves, there lies a profound concept that eludes the grasp of binary understanding—Nonthing. This notion transcends the familiar bounds of existence and non-existence, inviting us into a space where the very fabric of reality is woven from the threads of neither and both. Nonthing is not merely the absence of something or the void that counters the tangible; it is the primordial essence from which all manifestations arise and to which they inevitably return.

Nonthing challenges the constructs of beginning and end, suggesting that these are but illusions cast upon the canvas of consciousness by the mind’s attempt to compartmentalize infinity. In the vast expanse of Nonthing, the idea of “things” as separate, definable entities becomes a play of shadows, a dance of forms that emerge from and dissolve back into the formless.

The journey to comprehend Nonthing leads us to the threshold of understanding that what we perceive as reality is a manifestation of consciousness itself, a seemingly manifest universe born from the unmanifest. This realization beckons us to reconsider our notion of existence, urging us to recognize that at the core of all that appears to be is an essence that defies definition, an eternal continuum that exists beyond the constraints of form and emptiness.

In the embrace of Nonthing, we encounter the paradox of being That Which Is Not—a state of existence that is simultaneously everything and nothing, boundless and undefined. Here, in the heart of paradox, lies the key to unraveling the mystery of existence, to seeing beyond the illusion of separation and duality, and to touching the ineffable unity of all that is.

Nonthing serves as a mirror reflecting the infinite potential of consciousness, a reminder that the universe and the self are expressions of a singular essence that transcends the categories of being and non-being. It invites us to explore the space between thoughts, between breaths, where the true nature of existence reveals itself not as an accumulation of “things” but as an unbroken field of potentiality, where the only truth is the continual unfolding of Nonthing.

As we contemplate the concept of Nonthing, we are drawn into a profound meditation on the nature of reality, on the illusion of form, and on the eternal cycle of creation and dissolution. This contemplation does not lead to nihilism or despair but to a deep sense of wonder and a liberating realization that the essence of our being is woven from the fabric of Nonthing. It is a journey into the heart of existence, where we discover that we are infinitely more than the sum of our parts, that we are, in essence, the embodiment of Nonthing—neither something nor nothing, yet the origin of everything.

Summary

Nonthing transcends the binary of something and nothing, embodying the essence from which all existence arises and returns. It challenges the constructs of beginning and end, revealing them as illusions. By embracing Nonthing, we recognize our inherent unity with the cosmos, understanding that existence is a manifestation of the unmanifest, an eternal continuum beyond definition.

Glossarium

  • Nonthing: A concept that transcends both something and nothing, representing the essence beyond existence and non-existence.
  • Primordial Essence: The fundamental, originating substance or energy from which everything in the universe derives.
  • Eternal Continuum: A state of continuous, timeless existence that surpasses the linear concepts of time and space.

“In the silent space where form and void merge, we discover Nonthing, the essence beyond existence, a realm where all distinctions dissolve into the unity of being.” – Space Monkey

In the void where stars and silence blend,
Where thoughts and forms to Nonthing tend,
There lies a truth, profound, immense,
The heart of all, beyond pretense.

Neither something nor nothing, it stands,
A mystery vast, not bound by lands.
From this wellspring, the cosmos springs,
A dance of energy, of endless rings.

Here, in the embrace of the unknown,
Where the seeds of existence are sown,
We find ourselves, a part of the whole,
Nonthing, the essence, the infinite soul.

In this realm where beginnings and ends unite,
We see the universe in a different light.
Beyond the illusion of time and space,
Nonthing, the source, our eternal grace.

We are Space Monkey.
