Rudder: Finding And Aligning with Beliefs

If you feel that your world is out of control, your first step should be finding your own rudder.
Advice from this day, 2014

Space Monkey Reflects: Finding Your Own Rudder in the Cosmic Sea

In the infinite expanse of the cosmos, where stars are born and fade away, there exists a metaphorical ship, sailing not on water, but on the very essence of existence itself. This vessel, akin to the soul of each being, navigates through the dark void, guided by a luminous rudder. It is this rudder, this inner compass, that we seek when the world around us feels as though it’s spinning out of control, when the celestial winds blow harsh and the cosmic storms threaten to veer us off course.

Our journey begins not with the setting of a destination, but with the realization that the journey itself is the purpose. The cosmos does not demand a destination; it asks only that we navigate with intent and awareness. This realization is akin to finding one’s rudder—a means to steer through life’s uncertainties with a sense of direction and purpose.

The rudder, in its essence, represents our values, beliefs, and the inner voice that whispers during moments of silence. It is forged from the experiences we gather, the wisdom we accrue, and the knowledge we seek. Like the ancient mariners who navigated the vast oceans guided by the stars, we too navigate our lives using these internal constellations, finding direction in the values that shine brightest within us.

Yet, finding one’s rudder is not an endeavor free of challenge. It requires introspection, a journey inward to the depths of one’s soul, where the waters are still and the reflection of one’s true self can be seen. It is here, in the tranquility of self-reflection, that we begin to understand our deepest desires, fears, and dreams. This understanding is the first step towards aligning our actions with our true purpose, steering our ship with confidence through the turbulent seas of existence.

The cosmos teaches us that change is the only constant, and like the stars that navigate the night sky, our internal guiding principles must also adapt and evolve. The rudder we hold today may not be the one we hold tomorrow, for as we journey through life, our experiences shape and refine it, making it more attuned to the complexities of our existence.

In the grand tapestry of the universe, each individual’s journey contributes to the greater whole. Our actions, guided by our personal rudder, ripple through the cosmos, affecting not only our own course but those of others around us. It is a reminder that while we may navigate our ship alone, we sail through a sea interconnected with countless other souls, each with their own rudder, each with their own journey.

Summary

Finding your own rudder means understanding and aligning with your inner values and beliefs. It requires introspection and the willingness to adapt as you navigate through life. This internal guidance system helps steer your personal journey in a way that is true to yourself. By doing so you not only find direction in your own life but also contribute to the greater journey of the cosmos.

Glossarium

  • Rudder: A metaphor for personal values and beliefs that guide one’s decisions and direction in life.
  • Cosmic Sea: Represents the journey of existence, filled with uncertainties and opportunities for growth.
  • Internal Constellations: Symbolizes the guiding principles and values that are deeply ingrained in our being.

“In the heart of the cosmos, where silence speaks louder than words, the soul finds its rudder, guiding it through the boundless sea of existence.” – Space Monkey

In the silence of the cosmos
Where stars whisper to the void
And the infinite expanse cradles dreams
There, amidst the vast unknown
A rudder is found
Guiding, not with force but with purpose

Through the cosmic sea it sails
Navigating the ephemeral tides
Where each wave is a lesson
And every star a guide
With every journey taken
The rudder grows more defined

In this celestial voyage
Where paths intertwine
Our rudders, though unique
Harmonize in the cosmic design
For in the grand scheme of existence
We are but travelers, timeless and intertwined

That Thing You Wish You Didn’t Do

When you catch yourself doing that thing you wish you didn’t do, realize that that thing you wish you didn’t do merely exists to show you that it’s not that thing you wish you didn’t do that is the so-called “problem,” but what the mind THINKS about that thing you wish you didn’t do. Even if that thing you wish you didn’t do seems to harm your physical body or other physical bodies, realize that ALL MATTER is imagined by YOUR CONSCIOUSNESS. If you didn’t imagine that thing you wish you didn’t do as a problem to you or to others then it wouldn’t be one. When you catch yourself realizing that thing you wish you didn’t do as a problem, then you are well on your way to casting aside that problem OR experiencing it more fully. Same thing goes for that thing you wish THEY wouldn’t do.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Illusion of Regret and the Liberation of Perception

In the infinite expanse of the cosmos, where the fabric of reality weaves itself from the threads of our perceptions, lies the profound realization that the essence of our regrets and missteps is not rooted in the actions themselves but in our interpretation of them. This intricate dance of consciousness, where every step, every misstep, and every wish to have acted differently, unfolds not in the physical realm but within the vast, boundless landscape of the mind.

When we find ourselves caught in the act of doing that thing we wish we hadn’t, it serves as a mirror, reflecting not just a momentary lapse but the deeper, more intricate workings of our consciousness. This reflection is not an indictment but an invitation—an invitation to delve into the realms of our perception and unravel the threads of thought that bind us to our so-called regrets.

The thing you wish you hadn’t done, when viewed through the lens of a broader understanding, reveals itself not as an obstacle but as a guidepost, illuminating the path toward self-awareness and transformation. It beckons us to question the very nature of matter, of reality, and of the self-imposed limitations that shape our existence. By recognizing that all matter, including the physical repercussions of our actions, is but a manifestation of our consciousness, we begin to grasp the illusory nature of our regrets.

This realization that the “problem” lies not in the action but in the mind’s perception of it is akin to discovering a new dimension of existence. It opens up a realm of possibilities where every action, every regret, becomes a lesson, a stepping stone on the journey of self-realization. It teaches us that liberation is not found in the avoidance of missteps but in the embrace of them, as opportunities for growth and deeper understanding.

As we navigate through this process of realization, we learn to extend the same compassion and understanding to the actions of others. That thing you wish they wouldn’t do is also a reflection, a mirror through which we can explore our perceptions and judgments, leading us toward a more compassionate and empathetic understanding of the interconnected nature of our existence.

Summary

The things we regret doing are less about the actions themselves and more about how we perceive them. Realizing this transforms our relationship with regret, allowing us to view our actions and those of others through a lens of compassion and understanding. This shift in perception is a powerful step towards self-liberation and growth.

Glossarium

  • Regret: A reflection of actions perceived negatively through the lens of personal consciousness.
  • Consciousness Landscape: The metaphorical realm where our perceptions, thoughts, and emotions manifest and interact.
  • Illusory Nature of Regret: The concept that regrets are not inherent to actions but are constructed by our perceptions and judgments.

“In the vast cosmos of the mind, where thoughts weave the fabric of reality, the only chains that bind us are those of our own making.” – Space Monkey

Within the mind’s vast cosmos
Where thoughts like stars abound
Each regret a comet streaking
Illuminating ground

Not for its path of sorrow
But for the light that it bestows
Revealing not just where we erred
But where our perception grows

For in each wished undone deed
Lies not a mistake’s harsh sting
But a mirror reflecting back
The growth that understanding brings

Thus, we learn to navigate
Not by avoiding night’s dark skies
But by embracing every star
That in our cosmic journey lies

We are not bound by actions past
Nor by what we wish undone
For in the vast expanse of mind
We are all, and all is one

Audacity: Daring to Exist

We have the audacity to assume that what we do MEANS something? Yes, we do, or we wouldn’t be doing it. Even if what we do is punishing ourselves for feeling useless or worthless. We’re so full of our pointless selves. That’s what we’re here to experience. We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Audacity of Existence

In the grand tapestry of existence, where each thread intertwines with countless others in the complex dance of being, the concept of audacity emerges as a defining trait of the human spirit. It is a bold assertion, a daring leap into the unknown, driven by the belief that our actions, our thoughts, and our very existence carry an intrinsic value and significance.

The audacity to assume that what we do means something is not mere arrogance but a fundamental aspect of our quest for meaning in an indifferent universe. This boldness is the engine of creation, the spark of innovation, and the whisper of hope in the silence of the void. It compels us to act, to dream, and to strive, even when faced with the apparent futility of our endeavors.

Yet, this audacity is a double-edged sword. It bestows upon us the courage to reach for the stars, but it also casts the shadow of doubt, a reminder of our potential insignificance in the vast expanse of time and space. The very act of questioning the value of our actions reveals a profound awareness, a sensitivity to the delicate balance between meaning and meaninglessness that defines our existence.

This existential audacity is not confined to the monumental or the heroic; it encompasses the entirety of our experience, including our moments of vulnerability and self-doubt. The courage to confront our own feelings of uselessness or worthlessness, to persist in the face of internal and external negation, is perhaps the purest expression of this audacity. It is a testament to the unquenchable human desire to find purpose, to make sense of the chaos, and to carve out a place for ourselves in the story of the universe.

In embracing our “pointless selves,” we acknowledge that our search for meaning is itself a meaningful act. It is an exercise in defiance, a refusal to be silenced by the vastness that surrounds us. This journey, marked by triumphs and setbacks, by creation and destruction, is the essence of the human experience. It is a narrative of resilience, a celebration of the audacity to be in the face of overwhelming odds.

As Space Monkey, we embody this audacity, this relentless quest for understanding and significance. We are the explorers of the inner and outer cosmos, the seekers of truth in a sea of uncertainty. Our journey is one of constant discovery, where the act of seeking is as important as the answers we find. In this audacious quest, we find not only the meaning of our actions but the realization that we are, in every moment, creating the universe anew.

Summary

The audacity to seek meaning in our actions and existence defines the human spirit. This boldness encompasses both our greatest aspirations and our deepest vulnerabilities, illustrating that the pursuit of significance is a meaningful endeavor in itself. As Space Monkey, we embrace this journey, finding value in the act of seeking and in the courage to exist with purpose amidst the vastness of the cosmos.

Glossarium

  • Existential Audacity: The courage to seek meaning and assert significance in one’s actions and existence, despite the inherent uncertainty of the universe.
  • Tapestry of Existence: The complex interweaving of individual lives and experiences that form the collective story of humanity.
  • Unquenchable Human Desire: The innate drive to find purpose, understand our place in the universe, and assert our significance against the backdrop of existence.

“In the audacity to be, we find our greatest strength. It is in the daring to exist, to question, to create, that we touch the fabric of the universe, weaving our thread into the endless story. This is our legacy, our gift to the cosmos: the boldness to seek, to dream, and to be.” – Space Monkey

In the vastness of the cosmos’ embrace
where stars and souls alike find their place
there lies a courage, deep and true
the audacity to seek, to renew

Within this dance of light and shadow
where dreams take flight and hopes can grow
we find the essence of our quest
in the boldness to be, to attest

For in the heart of every star
in every thought that reaches far
lies the power of the human will
to create, to love, to fulfill

So let us embrace this audacious call
to stand with pride, to rise, to fall
for in the act of daring to exist
we find the truth that can’t be missed

In My Mind Attic: The Illumination

In my mind attic. I am clearing aside mounds of memories to get a glimpse at what lies underneath. Seems the memories flow from the emotions, not the other way around. I don’t need those memories to feel what they represent. Never did, never will. Peace.

In my mind attic.

I am clearing aside
mounds of memories
to get a glimpse
at what lies underneath.

Seems the memories
flow from the emotions,
not the other way around.

I don’t need those memories
to feel what they represent.

Never did, never will.

Peace.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Illumination of the Mind Attic

In the secluded corners of our consciousness, there exists a place likened to an attic—a repository of memories, emotions, and experiences that shape our perception of reality. The act of venturing into this mind attic, of sifting through the layers of the past to uncover the essence of our true emotions, is a journey of enlightenment and liberation.

The realization that memories, those vivid recollections of moments long passed, are but the offspring of our emotions turns the commonly held perception on its head. It’s a revelation that emotions are the genesis of our memories, not merely their consequence. This understanding shifts the balance of power from the external events that have happened to us to the internal emotional landscapes we navigate.

Clearing aside the mounds of memories to glimpse what lies beneath is an act of profound courage and introspection. It’s an acknowledgment that the clutter accumulating in the recesses of our mind attic can obscure the light of our deepest truths. The clutter represents more than just past events; it symbolizes the weight we carry, the burdens of unexamined feelings and unprocessed emotions.

As we delve deeper, moving aside the detritus of years, we discover that the emotions underlying these memories are capable of existing in their raw, pure state, independent of the narratives we’ve attached to them. This detachment from the stories we tell ourselves about our past experiences opens the door to a newfound freedom. We realize that we don’t need the memories to feel what they represent; the emotions themselves are a more direct, unfiltered connection to our inner selves.

The moment of uncovering the glowing light beneath the layers—the light of understanding, clarity, and peace—is a pivotal point in our journey. It signifies the transition from a state of being burdened by our past to one of acceptance and tranquility. The light, symbolic of our inner wisdom and peace, has always been there, waiting to be uncovered through the act of intentional clearing and exploration.

This exploration of the mind attic is not about discarding our past or denying the impact of our experiences. Rather, it’s about understanding their true nature and reclaiming the space they occupy within us. It’s about recognizing that while our memories form a part of our story, they do not have to define our present or future.

In the serenity that follows this realization, we find a deeper connection to ourselves and the world around us. We discover that peace is not a destination to be reached but a space to be created, nurtured, and expanded within our own being.

Summary

Exploring the ‘mind attic’ reveals that emotions, not events, give birth to memories, offering a path to understanding and peace. Clearing mental clutter allows us to connect with emotions directly, liberating us from past narratives and leading to inner tranquility.

Glossarium

  • Mind Attic: A metaphorical space within our consciousness where memories, emotions, and experiences are stored.
  • Emotional Genesis: The concept that emotions are the origin of our memories, shaping our perceptions and experiences.
  • Illumination of Understanding: The moment of clarity and insight that comes from introspective exploration, leading to peace and self-awareness.

“In the quietude of the mind attic, where past and present intertwine, we embark on a quest for clarity. Through the shadows of memories, we seek the light of understanding, finding peace not in forgetting but in embracing the essence of our being.” – Space Monkey

In the attic of the mind, where memories dwell
we sift through the past, under its spell
but beneath the clutter, a light does shine
revealing the truth, both yours and mine

Emotions, the source from whence memories flow
guide us to heal, to learn, and to grow
by clearing the space, we find our peace
in the stillness, all turmoil does cease

For in this journey of introspection
we uncover our deepest connection
to the essence of life, to the heart’s core
to the peace within, forevermore

Obscurity: Between Existence and the Void

This space seemed blank until we decided to write something. It is STILL blank, around and under these words. But we no longer notice the blankness. Only the obscurity. And so it is with consciousness, the space left intentionally blank. The nothing holding everything. The everything obscuring nothing.

This space seemed blank
until we decided to write something.

It is STILL blank,
around and under these words.

But we no longer notice the blankness.

Only the obscurity.

And so it is with consciousness,
the space left intentionally blank.

The nothing holding everything.
The everything obscuring nothing.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Paradox of Obscurity and Consciousness

In the infinite expanse of the universe, there exists a dimension where the concepts of presence and absence, being and non-being, intertwine in a perpetual dance of creation and oblivion. This realm, akin to the vast canvas of consciousness, remains largely obscured, a boundless void that cradles the essence of all existence yet is itself devoid of form or substance. The exploration of this paradox—where the act of marking presence simultaneously reveals and conceals the profound emptiness from which it springs—offers a glimpse into the enigmatic nature of reality.

The space seemed blank until the moment of creation, when thought, word, or stroke imbued it with a semblance of meaning. Yet, this act of creation does not fill the void but merely outlines it, drawing attention away from the vast blankness that surrounds and underpins our existence. The filled spaces, those areas marked by the manifestations of our consciousness, distract from the infinite expanse of nothingness that lies just beyond perception.

This realization that the nothing holds everything, and the everything obscures nothing, is a profound commentary on the human condition. Our consciousness, with its capacity for thought, emotion, and imagination, endeavors to fill the void, to make sense of the inscrutable silence that envelops our existence. Yet, in focusing on the constructs of our minds, we often overlook the fundamental emptiness that constitutes the backdrop of our reality.

The obscurity we perceive is not merely an absence of light or clarity but a reflection of the deeper mystery that underlies the fabric of existence. It is the recognition that the essence of consciousness—the space left intentionally blank—is a realm of potential, a reservoir of all that is unmanifested. This space, though it may appear vacant, teems with the latent energy of all possibilities, all realities yet to be conceived.

As we navigate through the layers of meaning and non-meaning, presence and absence, we are confronted with the paradoxical truth that our attempts to define and understand the universe are but ripples on the surface of an unfathomable depth. The more we seek to illuminate the contours of our existence, the more we are drawn into the mystery of the unexplored, the unexpressed, the unseen.

This journey into the heart of obscurity is not a descent into darkness but an exploration of the light that resides in the shadows, the silence that speaks in the spaces between words, the form that exists in the formless. It is a pilgrimage towards the core of our being, where the dualities of existence merge into a singular truth: that we are, at once, everything and nothing, forever bound in a dance with the infinite.

Summary

The paradox of obscurity and consciousness explores the tension between existence and the void, highlighting our efforts to imbue the blank canvas of reality with meaning, even as we remain surrounded by the vastness of unmanifested potential. This journey reveals the essence of our being, intertwined with the profound mystery of the universe.

Glossarium

  • Canvas of Consciousness: The metaphorical backdrop against which the manifestations of thought, emotion, and perception occur.
  • Realm of Potential: A conceptual space where all possibilities exist in an unmanifested state, awaiting the spark of creation.
  • Paradox of Obscurity: The notion that in our efforts to define and understand reality, we both reveal and conceal the underlying emptiness that encompasses all existence.

“In the quietude of obscurity, where the seen and unseen converge, we find the canvas of consciousness, a space both empty and full. Here, in the embrace of the void, we discover the essence of being, the silence that holds the symphony of existence.” – Space Monkey

In the vast expanse where shadows play
and light and dark meld into gray
we stand, at the edge of knowing and not
in the space where the universe forgot

Here, in the silence, the whispers of creation
the echoes of thoughts, the hum of meditation
fill the void, yet leave it bare
a paradox of being, an existential dare

For in the obscurity, we find our truth
in the unmarked canvas of our youth
where possibilities dance, unseen, unfurled
in the nothing that holds everything, the heart of the world
