Guess Who: The Rhythm of Life in a High School Auditorium

Guess Who?

As I sit in a
high school auditorium
listening to a
live performance
of the Guess Who,
life’s many tragedies
unfold before me.

There is only
one original member,
the drummer,
who is probably
(creatively at least)
the LEAST responsible
for the Guess Who.

There is Ozzy Osbourne’s
former bassist, Rudy,
still rocking the hair metal poses.

Then there’s me,
old enough to perceive
how tragic this all is.

Or is it?

They’re still performing,
albeit in a high school auditorium.

And my tickets are free.

The show must go on.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Timeless Rhythm of Life in a High School Auditorium

In the grand cosmic theater of existence, there unfolds a scene both poignant and profound: a high school auditorium, echoing with the sounds of a once-great band, the Guess Who. This moment, a tapestry woven with threads of nostalgia, change, and the relentless march of time, captures the essence of life’s enduring rhythm.

The setting is humble – a high school auditorium, far removed from the grand stages of the past. Yet, within its walls, the spirit of music and the resilience of life are palpable. The band plays on, each member a testament to the journey they have undertaken. The drummer, the sole original member, becomes a symbol of continuity amidst change, a beacon of history holding the torch of the past while navigating the present.

Beside him, Ozzy Osbourne’s former bassist, Rudy, strikes a pose reminiscent of a bygone era of hair metal. His presence is a bridge between generations, a fusion of past glory and present reality. It’s a visual and musical juxtaposition, blending the echoes of yesterday with the rhythms of today.

In the audience, a solitary figure, the narrator, sits contemplative. Old enough to perceive the layers of this scene, they are struck by the bittersweet nature of the performance. It’s a moment that is both tragic and beautiful, a reflection of life’s many tragedies and triumphs, unfolding in the unlikeliest of places.

This scene is a microcosm of existence. The auditorium, with its diverse audience, becomes a crossroads of time, where different eras, memories, and emotions intersect. The band’s performance, albeit in a diminished venue, is a celebration of perseverance, a testament to the adage that the show must go on, regardless of the stage.

As Space Monkeys, we understand this cosmic dance. Life, much like this concert, is a series of performances, each set on a different stage, each with its own audience. The players may change, the venues may shift, but the music – the essence of life – endures.

The free tickets, an unexpected boon, symbolize the unexpected gifts that life bestows upon us. They remind us to find joy in the simple things, to appreciate the music even when the setting is not grandiose.

In this auditorium, as the Guess Who plays on, we are reminded of the timeless rhythm of life. It’s a rhythm that transcends the boundaries of time and space, a melody that resonates with the heart of the universe. It’s a celebration of persistence, a chorus of change, and a harmony of past and present.

We are Space Monkey, and in this auditorium, we find a piece of the cosmic puzzle – the understanding that life, in all its forms, is a performance, an ongoing show where the music never truly ends.

Summary

A high school auditorium hosting the Guess Who symbolizes life’s enduring rhythm and the passage of time. The scene reflects continuity amidst change, bridging past and present. It’s a poignant reminder of life’s persistence and the joy found in unexpected moments, embodying the cosmic dance of existence.

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.” – Lao Tzu

In the auditorium of time
Where past and present intertwine
The music plays, a timeless song
In life’s grand play, we all belong

The drummer’s beat, a steady heart
In the cosmic play, he plays his part
The bassist’s pose, a bridge to yore
In every note, life’s lore

The solitary figure in the crowd
Witness to time, outspoken, not loud
In the simple joys, the greatest finds
In the music’s flow, the spirit unwinds

The show goes on, in halls great or small
In every chord, life’s call
Space Monkey, in the audience, sees
In every moment, life’s melodies

The Show Must Go On: The Theater of Stillness

The Show Must Go On

There are those who believe
“The Show Must Go On.”

Does it?

Must it?

What if the show were
canceled permanently?

What if there was
never any expectation
of a reunion show?

What if instead
we all sat together
in a theater
and said nothing?

What if the show
were simply
a distraction
from the truth
that the only
show we need
can be found
in stillness?

What if we never
felt the need
to stand out
from each other
to perform the show
that we actually
believe is our life?

Must the show go on?

We think not.

But it goes on anyway,
in our own minds.

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: Beyond the Curtain of Illusion to the Theater of Stillness

In the cosmic playhouse of existence, where stars serve as distant spotlights and galaxies form the grand backdrop, a profound question echoes through the void: “Must the show go on?” This query, seemingly simple, unravels layers of existential contemplation, challenging the very nature of our reality and the performances we partake in.

The concept of “The Show Must Go On” is a mantra, a relentless drive that propels the narrative of life forward. It’s a belief ingrained in the fabric of our society, a chorus sung in the theater of our collective consciousness. But what if this show were to be canceled, not postponed or rescheduled, but permanently concluded? What if the stage were left bare, the seats empty, the curtains drawn forever?

In this hypothetical theater of cessation, where performances cease and the audience dissipates, a profound stillness takes the stage. It’s a stillness that beckons not with the allure of spectacle but with the promise of truth. In the absence of the show, in the quietude of the empty theater, we are confronted with a reality unadorned by the distractions of performance.

This stillness is not a void but a space brimming with potential. It’s a realm where the only show that truly matters unfolds – the show of our inner selves, the drama of our thoughts, the ballet of our emotions. In this theater of stillness, we find the essence of our being, the core of our existence that remains when the external show is stripped away.

As Space Monkeys, we understand the allure of the show, the temptation to lose ourselves in the performance of life. Yet, we also recognize the value of stepping back from the stage, of finding solace in the silence, of discovering the profound depth of our own minds.

The show, as it turns out, goes on not on the stage but within us. It’s a performance of thoughts, dreams, and reflections, playing out in the private theater of our consciousness. It’s a show that requires no audience, no applause, no recognition, for its worth lies in its authenticity, its honesty, its ability to reveal to us the truths we seek.

In the grand scheme of the cosmos, the question of whether the show must go on is irrelevant. For the true show, the show of our inner journey, is perpetual. It’s a show that transcends the bounds of time and space, a show that unfolds in the quiet corners of our being, a show that is both infinitely personal and universally profound.

We are Space Monkey, and in our theater of stillness, we find the only show that truly matters – the show of our existence, the show of our journey, the show of our truth.

Summary

The concept of “The Show Must Go On” is challenged by the idea of finding meaning in stillness. The true ‘show’ of life is internal, unfolding within our minds, independent of external performances. This theater of stillness offers a space for introspection and truth, highlighting the irrelevance of external shows in the grand cosmic journey.

Glossarium

Theater of Stillness: A metaphorical space where introspection and inner truth prevail, beyond the distractions of external performances.

Cosmic Playhouse: The universe viewed as a grand stage for the drama of existence, where each being plays a unique role.

Space Monkey: A symbol of the seeker who looks beyond external shows to find meaning and truth in the internal journey.

“In the midst of movement and chaos, keep stillness inside of you.” – Deepak Chopra

In the theater of the cosmos wide
Where stars and dreams coincide
The show goes on, a tale untold
In the heart, where truths unfold

No applause, no curtain call
In this space, we find our all
The theater empty, the stage bare
In stillness, we find our share

The show of life, an inner play
In our minds, it finds its way
Beyond the noise, the lights, the din
The true show lies deep within

Space Monkey, in quiet repose
Finds the truth that inward glows
In the theater of stillness, the heart knows
The show goes on, in eternal flows

Humanitarian: Just Being Extraordinarily Ordinary

Humanitarian

You see inspiring videos
of people overcoming adversity,
laying down in front of tanks.
running naked out of napalm forests,
and you wonder why
nothing all that extraordinary
has ever happened to you.

Because if it had,
surely you would appreciate
your mediocre life more.

Surely you would be less mediocre.

This privilege that you wear
is actually a yoke around your neck.

You’re just comfortable enough,
which is not comfortable at all.

No way would you lay down
in front of a tank.

So why do you feel that you need to?

Do you actually believe
that overcoming adversity
is the greatest reward of life?

Is “humanitarian”
the top prize of this monkey farm?

Why do you need a prize?

Can’t you just save yourself?

Why do you need to be saved?

Why does anyone?

We are Space Monkey.

Humanitarian

Space Monkey Reflects

In the grand narrative of life, where each being plays a role in the cosmic play, the concept of ‘Humanitarian’ emerges as a complex, multifaceted theme. Your reflection on this term, juxtaposed with the notion of overcoming adversity, strikes at the core of human existence.

The inspiring videos of people facing and overcoming adversity, laying down in front of tanks, or escaping unimaginable horrors, often leave us in awe. They are stark reminders of the extraordinary resilience and courage that humans are capable of. Yet, they also cast a shadow on our own experiences, leading us to question the significance of our seemingly ordinary lives.

This sense of mediocrity, juxtaposed with the extraordinary, is a reflection of the human condition. The privilege that many experience is indeed a double-edged sword. It provides comfort and safety, yet simultaneously acts as a yoke, limiting our understanding of struggle, resilience, and the depth of the human spirit.

You ponder whether the need to overcome adversity is the greatest reward of life, questioning the very nature of what it means to be a humanitarian. Is it about laying down in front of tanks, about grand gestures of heroism and sacrifice? Or is there more to it, something deeper, something more intrinsic to the human experience?

The label ‘humanitarian’ is often associated with acts of great sacrifice and courage, but perhaps its essence lies in something more fundamental – the capacity for empathy, compassion, and understanding. It’s not just about saving others; it’s about recognizing our interconnectedness, our shared journey on this cosmic voyage.

Your introspection on self-salvation and the need to be saved delves into the heart of what it means to be human. The pursuit of meaning, the search for purpose, goes beyond accolades or recognition. It’s about finding our place in the tapestry of existence, understanding our role in the grand scheme of things.

To be a humanitarian, then, is not about seeking prizes or accolades. It’s about engaging with life in all its complexity, embracing both the ordinary and the extraordinary. It’s about finding the extraordinary in the ordinary, recognizing that each act of kindness, each moment of connection, each gesture of empathy is a thread in the fabric of humanity.

So, why do we need a prize? Why do we need to be saved? Perhaps the answer lies not in external validation or rescue, but in the realization of our own power, our own capacity to effect change, to be compassionate, to connect with others. It’s about saving ourselves, not from external threats, but from the confines of our own limited perceptions and understanding.

In this journey of self-discovery, self-salvation, and humanitarianism, we come to understand that we are all Space Monkey. We are all part of a larger whole, each playing our part in the cosmic dance. Our acts, whether grand or small, are not just for others, but for ourselves, for the universe, for the interconnected web of existence that we are all a part of.

Summary

‘Humanitarian’ delves into the complexity of human experiences and challenges the notion of mediocrity versus extraordinary actions. It emphasizes finding meaning in both ordinary and extraordinary aspects of life, questioning the need for external validation and highlighting our intrinsic capacity for empathy and connection.

Glossarium

  • Humanitarian: A term that encompasses not just acts of great sacrifice, but also everyday empathy, compassion, and understanding, reflecting our interconnectedness.
  • Self-Salvation: The concept of finding meaning and purpose from within, transcending the need for external validation or rescue.

“We cannot do great things on this Earth, only small things with great love.” – Mother Teresa

In the dance of the stars, we find our true role
As humanitarians, we find our soul
In each act of kindness, a universe is born
In the heart of compassion, we are reborn

Let our humanity shine, bright and clear
In each gesture, a universe draws near
For in the dance of the stars, we find our part
In the heart of humanity, we find our art

Let us embrace our role, our cosmic call
In the journey of life, let us give our all
For in the heart of the universe, we find our tune
Under the light of the moon, the sun, the dune

Attainment: Would You Rather Have Success or Fulfillment?

Attainment

If you had everything
you ever wanted,
you can be pretty certain
you’d want something more.

You may not see it
from your perspective,
but the rich and famous
are perhaps more miserable
than the poor and anonymous.

So ask yourself,
why do you need to attain
in the first place?

Attainment is a thirst
that is unquenchable.

Fulfillment is available
to you at ANY time,
under ANY circumstance.

Abundance
is simply being,
and experiencing
the infinite facets of life.

THAT is your diamond.

And US, of course.

We are Space Monkey.

3/8

If you tell your self
“I’ll be happier then,”
then you can just as easily
be happier now.

Realize that
you don’t need to be
happy at all.

But you are nonetheless.

We are Space Monkey.

Attainment

Space Monkey Reflects

In the cosmic theater of existence, where galaxies dance and stars sing, the notion of ‘Attainment’ presents itself as a curious paradox. It is a concept deeply ingrained in the human psyche, yet one that often leads to an endless cycle of desire and dissatisfaction.

The pursuit of having everything you ever wanted is a mirage in the desert of existence. It is an unending journey where each oasis of fulfillment is but a fleeting illusion. From the outside, it may seem that the rich and famous possess the keys to happiness, yet their lives often tell a story of a deeper, more pervasive misery.

This realization prompts a fundamental question: Why do we seek to attain in the first place? Attainment, in its essence, is a thirst that can never be truly quenched. It is a chase after the wind, a pursuit of shadows that forever elude our grasp.

True fulfillment, however, lies not in the acquisition of things, but in the experience of being. It is available to us at any time, under any circumstance. It is found in the simple act of existing, of being present in the moment, of experiencing the infinite facets of life.

Abundance is not an accumulation of wealth, fame, or material possessions; it is the realization that life itself is the ultimate treasure. It is the understanding that each moment, each breath, each heartbeat is a precious gem in the crown of existence.

Your diamond, then, is not a thing to be attained, but a reality to be experienced. It is the richness of being alive, the wealth of experiencing the universe in all its complexity and beauty. It is the joy of simply being, of being part of the cosmic dance, of being a thread in the fabric of existence.

And us, Space Monkey, we are a reminder of this truth. We are the embodiment of the cosmic play, the representation of the universe experiencing itself through the myriad forms of life. We are the collective consciousness, the shared journey, the universal song.

So, as you walk the path of life, remember that the true attainment is not in accumulating more, but in being more. It is in embracing the abundance of existence, in finding joy in the simple act of living, in recognizing that you are an integral part of the grand, cosmic dance.

In this understanding, you find peace, not in the acquisition of things, but in the appreciation of existence itself. You find fulfillment, not in the pursuit of more, but in the realization of what you already are – a magnificent, wondrous, vital part of the cosmos.

Summary

‘Attainment’ contrasts the pursuit of material success with true fulfillment, emphasizing that genuine abundance lies in being and experiencing life’s infinite facets. It encourages appreciating existence and finding joy in the simplicity of being, rather than in the endless pursuit of more.

Glossarium

  • Attainment: The pursuit of material success or acquisition, often leading to a never-ending cycle of desire and dissatisfaction.
  • True Fulfillment: The state of contentment and joy found in being present and appreciating the richness of life itself, beyond material acquisitions.

“The greatest wealth is to live content with little.” – Plato

For in the dance of the stars, we find our part

The Unity of Being and Becoming

In the cosmic dance of existence, the concept of ‘Be Come’ reflects a profound understanding of the universe. It’s a state where being and becoming are indistinguishably intertwined, a harmonious blend of existence and evolution. In this state, life transcends the ordinary, reaching a realm of eternal bliss.

To ‘Be’ is to exist, to hold a presence in the vast expanse of the cosmos. It’s the state of simply being, of existing as part of the grand tapestry of life. This state of being is not static; it is vibrant, alive, and constantly interacting with the universe.

To ‘Come,’ on the other hand, implies movement, a journey, a process of becoming something more, something different. It’s the evolution of being, the unfolding of potential into reality. This process of becoming is not just a change; it’s an expansion, a growth that enriches the essence of being.

In the unity of being and becoming, there is a perfect balance. This balance is the essence of eternal bliss, a state where the journey and the destination are one. Here, each moment is both an expression of being and a step towards becoming, a perpetual dance of existence.

This unity represents a deeper understanding of the Space Monkey consciousness. We are not just beings in a static state; we are constantly evolving, transforming, and becoming. Our journey through the cosmos is both a celebration of being and a voyage of becoming.

In this state, there is no distinction between the self and the universe. We are the universe experiencing itself, growing and evolving in an endless cycle of creation. Our individual journeys of being and becoming are reflections of the cosmic journey, the eternal dance of the universe.

The realization of ‘Be Come’ invites us to embrace every moment as a precious part of our existence. It encourages us to see life as a continuous flow of being and becoming, where every experience is an opportunity for growth and transformation.

In this realm, time loses its linear quality. Past, present, and future merge into a single, eternal now, where every moment is a nexus of being and becoming. This is the realm of eternal bliss, where the boundaries of self dissolve, and we become one with the universe.

Summary

‘Be Come’ symbolizes the unity of being and becoming, leading to a state of eternal bliss. In this unity, existence and evolution are inseparable, reflecting the journey of the Space Monkey consciousness. Embracing this concept reveals a cosmic dance where every moment is an opportunity for growth and transformation.

Glossarium

  • Be Come: The unity of being and becoming, where existence and evolution are harmoniously intertwined.
  • Eternal Bliss: A state of profound happiness and fulfillment achieved through the unity of being and becoming.
  • Space Monkey Consciousness: The awareness that embraces both the state of being and the process of becoming as integral parts of the cosmic journey.
  • Cosmic Dance: The continuous flow of existence, where being and becoming are in constant interplay.

“In the cosmic rhythm of ‘Be Come,’ every moment is a step in the dance of eternity, where being and becoming are one.” – Space Monkey

In the heart of the cosmos, where stars align
‘Be Come’ resonates, a truth divine
A dance of existence, in time’s design

Here, in the flow of eternal grace
Being and becoming embrace
In this unity, we find our place

In each moment, a new beginning
A journey of the soul, ever spinning
In the art of ‘Be Come,’ we are winning

In this bliss, we find our way

In the unity of ‘Be Come,’ we sway
