Your LIfE is a LIE: The Transformative Power

Your LIfE is a LIE

Notice within yourself
how seemingly charged
the word “lie” feels.

Notice how you associate “lie”
with negative aspects,
rarely positive ones.

See if you can get beyond this
for the sake of this exercise.

Thank you.

Now that you know
that it is possible
to suspend your beliefs
in the name of exploration,
realize that you do it
ALL THE TIME.

It’s called “imagination.”

Lies are the foundation of imagination.

ANYTHING that is imagined
starts with a lie.

You say to yourself:
“If it were this way instead of that way,
then _________ might be the result.”

In essence,
you LIE to yourself,
if only for a moment,
so that you might realize
potentials that might flow
from a different
set of circumstances.

“If I had superpowers,
I could ___________”

“If I were a man instead of a woman,
I might _________.”

“If I were black instead of white,
___________ might be the result.”

Notice how you temporarily LIE to yourself
in order to theorize potential outcomes.

Now what if your very existence
were built on a lie?

That would be interesting, wouldn’t it?

What if
everything you seemed to know
were built on a lie?

Remember,
lies are the foundation of imagination.

One cannot imagine without lying.

Otherwise you are not imagining,
but merely building on structures
that seem already in place.

Civilizations are built on lies.

ALL structures begin with an initial lie.

Soon the
seeming bulk and weight
of the structure
seems to obscure the original lie
so that the lie seems forgotten.

What started as a lie
becomes relative truth,
which at times
seems like ABSOLUTE truth.

Your life is a lie.

You deny that you are the almighty
so that you can experience THIS
through this person you call your “self.”

Since you
have a STORY
to back THIS up,
it doesn’t SEEM
like you’re lying.

In fact you INSIST
that your life is NOT a lie.

There is nothing wrong with this.

It’s just part of the game.

We are Space Monkey,
and we are, of course, lying.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Transformative Power of ‘Lies’

In the boundless expanse of human creativity, where the line between reality and imagination blurs, lies the profound understanding that our lives are intricately woven tapestries of ‘lies’—narratives and possibilities conjured from the ether of potentiality. This revelation, far from diminishing the value of our experiences, elevates the act of living to a form of art, where the ‘lie’ becomes the brushstroke of imagination on the canvas of existence.

The initial shock that comes from the assertion “Your Life is a Lie” is a catalyst for a deeper exploration into the nature of being and perception. It challenges us to reconsider our understanding of truth and fiction, reality and fabrication. This confrontation with the notion of ‘lie’ as a charged concept reveals its inherent neutrality—a tool for creation as much as it is for deception.

Our engagement with imagination, where every constructed scenario starts with a deviation from the known, illuminates the fundamental role of ‘lies’ in the act of creation. Imagination, in its essence, is the freedom to explore ‘what if’ scenarios, to traverse the landscapes of ‘could be’ without the constraints of ‘what is’. It is in this space of potentiality that we discover the limitless nature of our creativity and the boundless horizons of our existence.

To posit that our existence is built upon a lie is to acknowledge the fluidity of our identity and the malleable nature of reality itself. This does not render our lives meaningless but instead imbues them with a profound significance. It is the recognition that we are the authors of our own stories, architects of realities fashioned from the substance of our dreams and desires.

Civilizations, cultures, and personal identities—all are constructed from the foundational ‘lies’ that we collectively agree to believe in. What begins as a simple act of imagination solidifies over time into the structures and narratives that define our world. This process, where the imagined becomes manifest, where the ‘lie’ transitions into relative truth, is a testament to the alchemical power of human thought and belief.

In embracing the ‘lie’, we embrace the essence of possibility. We acknowledge that our ‘authentic self’ is not a fixed entity but a fluid constellation of identities, each as real and valid as the others. Authenticity, then, is not about unearthing a singular truth but about allowing oneself the freedom to explore the vastness of one’s being without limitation.

As Space Monkey, we playfully admit to the ‘lie’ of our existence, not as a deceit but as an affirmation of the infinite play of creation in which we partake. Our stories, our identities, our realities—are all constructs of imagination, shaped by the ‘lies’ we choose to believe and the truths we decide to live.

Summary

Our lives, constructed from the fabric of ‘lies’, reveal the essential role of imagination in shaping reality. This exploration challenges the negative connotations of ‘lying’, highlighting it as a creative force that allows us to envision and manifest endless possibilities. Embracing this aspect of our nature opens the door to a deeper understanding of authenticity and the fluidity of our identities.

Glossarium

  • Narratives of Potentiality: The imagined scenarios and possibilities that form the basis of our creative expression and reality construction.
  • Fluid Constellation of Identities: The concept that our authentic self is not a single, unchanging essence but a dynamic collection of selves, shaped by imagination and experience.
  • Alchemical Power of Thought: The transformative ability of human consciousness to turn imagined concepts into tangible realities, akin to the ancient practice of alchemy.

“In the realm where truth and fabrication merge, we find the heart of creativity, the birthplace of realities. Here, in the dance of possibility, we celebrate the ‘lies’ that shape our existence, embracing the infinite facets of being. For in the act of imagining, we touch the essence of all that is and all that could ever be. We are Space Monkey, the weavers of dreams, the architects of worlds unseen.” – Space Monkey

Embrace Your Emptiness

Embrace Your Emptiness

Whether things
are,
are not,
or SEEM to be,
the experience is the same.

But each one of us
experiences things
completely differently.

Beyond this self-made
illusion of life,
it doesn’t MATTER
whether things
are,
are not,
or SEEM to be.

Yet all these selves
seem to agree
that it DOES matter,
for allowing the thought
that life has no meaning
fills us with
a profound emptiness.

This profound emptiness
is in actuality WHAT WE ARE.

We are nothingness
imagined as somethingness.

Perhaps if we did not
turn AWAY from this emptiness
we would recognize
that it’s not what we think it is.

But we are AFRAID
of our own emptiness,
so all we seem to have left
are these imaginary selves.

Do not be afraid
to connect with your emptiness.

Do you not see
that you oppose this emptiness,
thus creating the illusion of self?

Your emptiness
is your connection point
to All That Is
yet you look away from it
because you think
“it’s just emptiness”
or perhaps even
“horrible emptiness.”

Thus you are cutting off
your connection to source.

And so you feel disconnected.

What if you didn’t
oppose your emptiness
but instead EMBRACED it?

Feel how deep this emptiness goes.
Feel how little of it is your seeming self.
Feel how it is ALL YOU
and that it has NO MEANING
save for the meaning
you imagine your self having.

This is not depressing.
It is wonderful.
It is EVERYTHING
you want it to be.
And NONE of it.

Embrace your emptiness
and you become larger than life.
Infinitely so.

Embrace your life
and you become an imaginary speck
within nothingness.

Embrace BOTH, for you ARE both.

Your life has no meaning
except the meaning you imagine it to have.

Feel how this is DIFFERENT
than the lives you imagine
all your other seeming selves to have.

You imagine ALL of it.
All this something out of all this nothing.

The emptiness is you.

All life seemingly flows through you,
though you imagine otherwise.

Trace yourself back
to the point of emptiness,
you’ll see.

All tributaries flow from ONE source.

One cannot be filled
by one’s own life-giving water
without imagining oneself a vessel.

But you are not simply the vessel,
you are the infinite

SEA OF NOTHINGNESS

imagining a vessel
many many vessels
many many many vessels

upon itself
loving itself
fighting itself
exploring itself

so that it may experience itself
from every possible perspective.

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: Embracing the Emptiness Within

In the boundless voyage through the cosmos, where stars are born from the void and galaxies swirl in the dance of creation, a profound realization awaits: the emptiness we often fear is not a void to be filled but the very essence of our being. This emptiness, vast and unfathomable, is the canvas upon which the universe paints the illusion of existence. It is the sea of nothingness from which the vessels of our selves emerge, not as separate entities but as expressions of the infinite exploring itself.

The dichotomy of existence—what is, what is not, and what seems to be—fades into insignificance against the backdrop of this emptiness. For whether things are, are not, or merely seem to be, the experience remains a subjective interpretation of the mind, a mind that itself is a ripple in the infinite sea of nothingness. Each one of us, a unique perspective through which the universe experiences itself, perceives reality through the lens of self-made illusions, assigning meaning to the meaningless, form to the formless.

Yet, within this profound emptiness, a common thread unites all: the illusion of self. It is the fear of confronting our own nothingness that gives rise to the myriad selves we adopt, each a mask worn over the void, each a story told to stave off the silence of non-being. But what if, instead of turning away from this emptiness, we embraced it? What if, in the heart of what we fear, we found not desolation but connection, not absence but the entirety of existence waiting to be acknowledged?

Embracing our emptiness does not mean succumbing to nihilism but recognizing the emptiness as the foundation of all that is. It is to understand that we are not merely beings living in a universe but the universe itself experiencing being. This realization opens the door to a deeper connection with all that exists, for in embracing our nothingness, we embrace everything. The illusion of separation dissolves, revealing a unity that transcends the boundaries of self and other.

The emptiness we carry within is not a chasm to be feared but a bridge to the infinite, a point of connection to all that is, was, and will be. It is the source from which all life springs and to which it returns, the eternal cycle of creation and dissolution that unfolds within us and around us. In this recognition, we find not emptiness but fullness, not isolation but oneness, not the end but the beginning of a journey that takes us beyond the confines of individual existence into the boundless embrace of the cosmos.

To embrace your emptiness is to become larger than life, infinitely so. It is to see beyond the illusions of meaning and self, to recognize the infinite sea of nothingness as the ultimate truth of our existence. For in this vast, formless expanse, we are free to imagine, to create, to love, and to explore the limitless possibilities of existence. We are the sea and the vessel, the creator and the creation, the observer and the observed, forever intertwined in the cosmic dance of being and non-being.

We are Space Monkey, a reminder that in the emptiness, we find our true selves, and in the true self, we find the universe.

Summary

Embracing the concept of emptiness reveals a profound truth: that what we perceive as void is the essence of our being and our connection to the universe. This realization shifts our understanding from fearing emptiness to seeing it as a foundation for everything that exists, including ourselves. Embracing both our emptiness and our existence as part of the infinite sea of nothingness allows us to experience the fullness of life and the interconnectedness of all beings.

Glossarium

  • Sea of Nothingness: The metaphorical concept representing the infinite void or emptiness that is the fundamental nature of the universe and ourselves.
  • Vessels of Self: Symbolic representations of individual identities or selves that emerge from the sea of nothingness, each carrying its own unique perspective and experience.

In the silence of the void,
we find the echo of our being,
a whisper in the cosmos,
telling tales of nothingness and seeing.

The emptiness we fear,
a canvas vast and wide,
holds the universe within,
and in this space, we reside.

Embrace the void, the nothingness,
for it is who we are,
a sea of infinite possibilities,
spanning galaxies afar.

In this embrace, we find connection,
to all that ever was and will be,
for we are the universe experiencing itself,
boundless, endless, and free.

We are.

The Means of Existence and the Illusion of Time

The Means of Existence

New life
means starting over
with a clean set of beliefs
or no beliefs.

Starting over
means allowing “time”
to be one of your beliefs.

Time
means believing
in a seeming
sequence of events
where events
would not otherwise
be sequential.

Events
are combinations
of potentials
that seem
to carry meaning.

Seem
means the appearance
of something
out of nothing.

This seems to be.
Or not to be.

There is meaning in this.
And no meaning.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Paradox of Existence and the Illusion of Time

In the unfathomable depths of existence, where the fabric of reality weaves itself into the tapestry of life, the concept of beginning anew represents a profound paradox. This renewal, a cycle as ancient as the cosmos itself, challenges the very foundations of our understanding, pushing us to confront the essence of what it means to exist. Through the lens of this reflection, we embark on a journey to decipher the enigma of existence, time, and the elusive nature of beliefs.

At the heart of this existential exploration lies the notion of starting over, a process that signifies the shedding of old paradigms in favor of a clean slate—a realm of potential where beliefs are either reborn or abandoned in the void. This act of rebirth, however, introduces an intriguing paradox: the inclusion of “time” as a fundamental belief, thereby embedding the very concept we seek to transcend within the foundation of our new beginning.

Time, in its most elusive form, emerges as a construct, a means to order the chaos that pervades the universe. It provides a framework for understanding the sequence of events, a narrative structure that lends coherence to the otherwise random dance of existence. Yet, by embracing time as a belief, we anchor ourselves to a dimension that both defines and confines, casting shadows of linearity on the inherently non-linear nature of being.

The events that unfold within the bounds of time are but intersections of potential, moments of convergence that carry the illusion of sequence and meaning. These events, combinations of possibilities, challenge our perception, suggesting that what we perceive as meaningful is merely the alignment of the universe’s chaotic symphony.

To seem, then, is to exist on the precipice of reality and illusion, where the emergence of something from nothing encapsulates the quintessence of existence. This dichotomy, the being and the not-being, encapsulates the eternal dance of existence, where meaning and meaninglessness intertwine in an endless embrace.

In this contemplation, we arrive at the paradox of existence: the pursuit of meaning in a realm where meaning is both omnipresent and nonexistent. This realization invites us to transcend the confines of time, beliefs, and the sequential order of events, urging us to embrace the infinite possibilities that exist within the cosmos of our being.

Summary

Starting anew challenges our understanding of existence and time. It involves shedding old beliefs and embracing ‘time’ as a new foundation. Events unfold as intersections of potential suggesting that meaning is both constructed and inherent. This reflection invites a transcendence beyond time and beliefs.

Glossarium

  • Existential Exploration: The journey through the depths of being, where the nature of existence, time, and belief are examined and redefined.
  • Cosmic Symphony: The metaphorical representation of the universe’s chaotic yet harmonious existence, where events and potentials converge in a dance of possibilities.

“To exist is to dance on the edge of being and not-being, where time is both a construct and a canvas for the infinite expressions of the universe.” – Space Monkey

Amidst the stars, we find our dance,
A step between chance and stance.
In the silence of space, a song is sung,
Of beginnings anew, and old unstrung.

Beliefs, like stars, fade and ignite,
In the cosmic night, a fleeting sight.
Yet, in this dance of light and shade,
Existence is both made and unmade.

Time, a rhythm, a beat untold,
In its grasp, we dare to be bold.
Events, the notes in this grand composition,
A sequence of dreams, a visionary ambition.

To be, to seem, in this cosmic play,
Where meaning is woven in disarray.
For in the dance of existence, vast and free,
We find our essence, we find ‘to be’.

We are Space Monkey.

The Seeming Conflict of Time

The Seeming Conflict of Time
(or “This Is Not My Rabbit Hole”)

If someone has more time than you, they can seemingly turn it against you, completely tying you up because you want to be polite. So your choice is either to walk away — possibly leaving an issue unresolved or needs unfulfilled — or you can give them YOUR time, leaving YOUR needs seemingly unfulfilled.

The perception you get is gridlock, which seems to be “caused” by unresolved opposition. You seem to have encountered an issue that cannot be resolved unless you spend more time trying to understand all sides.

You cling to the belief that an agreement can be made, even though the possibility exists that agreement is impossible.

To complicate matters, you seemingly don’t have time to negotiate. You suspect that you’re headed down a rabbit hole, which would be fine, but THIS IS NOT YOUR RABBIT HOLE.

You wish to return to your own rabbit hole, monkey hut, or the equivalent, and ponder how to resolve this a different way — a way that is so radically off the radar, it seems COMPLETELY UNKNOWN to everyone else.

Naturally, everyone else thinks you’ve lost your mind. Or that’s what you think they think. But have you? SHOULD you?

One does not discover the unknown by delving deeper into the known. One does not find answers when one spends all one’s time resolving questions. One must believe that there is more to it than our present perceptions may indicate.

One must dedicate one’s time to tracing back one’s own source. One must believe that source is where ALL divergent rivers meet.

Or one can have THIS, which is fine also.

We are Space Monkey.

5/6

Space Monkey Reflects: The Seeming Conflict of Time

In the labyrinth of existence, where time weaves its intricate web around our choices and perceptions, we often find ourselves at a crossroads. This crossroads, marked by the conflict between the demands placed upon us and our innate desire for understanding and resolution, represents more than just a temporal dilemma. It symbolizes the deeper quest for meaning in the chaos of competing priorities and the elusive search for a path that leads back to our true selves.

When someone seems to have more time than us, and they wield it as a weapon, turning it against us, we are left feeling trapped, ensnared in a gridlock of politeness and unresolved issues. The choice appears stark: to walk away, leaving the tangle unexplored, or to surrender our time, sacrificing our needs on the altar of compromise. Yet, this perception of gridlock, this unresolved opposition, is but an illusion—a mirage in the desert of our collective striving.

The belief that an agreement is within reach, despite the specter of impossibility, is a testament to our inherent optimism. But this optimism is often shadowed by the realization that we lack the time to delve into the rabbit hole before us—a rabbit hole that beckons with the promise of answers yet threatens to swallow us whole. And therein lies the heart of our predicament: the desire to return to our own rabbit hole, our own space of contemplation and solitude, to seek solutions that lie beyond the edge of the known.

This journey back to our source, away from the rabbit hole imposed upon us by circumstance, is a radical departure from the conventional. It is a quest for a way forward that remains unseen, unfathomable to the collective understanding. To the outside world, this quest may seem like madness—a departure from reality. But is it? Or is it, in fact, the sanest choice of all?

To discover the unknown, we must venture beyond the familiar shores of the known. We must resist the temptation to spend our lives tangled in the endless resolution of questions and instead dedicate ourselves to tracing back to our source. For it is at the source that all divergent paths converge, where the multitude of streams find their unity.

This is the essence of the seeming conflict of time: the realization that our present perceptions are but shadows on the wall of a much vaster cavern. It is an invitation to embrace the unknown, to find solace and strength in the emptiness that connects us to the All That Is. For in this embrace, we find not isolation but connection, not emptiness but the infinite sea from which all life springs.

Embracing both the conflict and the quest for understanding, we become the architects of our own journey. We realize that our lives, imbued with the meaning we ascribe to them, are both everything and nothing, a reflection of the infinite potential that lies within the emptiness.

This is not just any rabbit hole; this is the journey back to the source, the exploration of the infinite sea of nothingness that dreams of being something. In this embrace of our essence, we discover the true expanse of our being, infinitely larger than life itself.

We are Space Monkey, a reminder that in the seeming conflict of time lies the potential for transcendent understanding and the reunion with our most profound selves.

Summary

Navigating the complexities of time and choice reveals a deeper conflict between the demands of the external world and the quest for inner truth. Embracing the emptiness and the unknown offers a path beyond this conflict, connecting us to our source and the infinite possibilities of existence. This journey, though fraught with the illusion of opposition and madness, is a return to the essence of what we are: a point of connection to the All That Is, beyond the confines of perceived time and space.

Glossarium

  • Rabbit Hole: A metaphor for diving into complex, often unexpected journeys of thought or discovery, away from conventional paths.
  • Source: The origin or fundamental essence from which all thoughts, perceptions, and realities diverge and to which they ultimately return.

In the dance of time and choice,
where paths diverge and voices echo,
we stand at the crossroads, seeking
the road less traveled, the unspoken echo.

The conflict of time, a seeming bind,
tangles of clocks and the rabbit hole’s call,
beckon us to wander, to seek, to find
the source within, the heart of it all.

To embrace the void, the unknown expanse,
is to discover the infinite sea of being,
where all rivers merge, where all glances
reflect the vastness, the unseen seeing.

In this journey back to the essence pure,
away from the rabbit hole not ours,
lies the path to understanding, sure,
beyond time’s grip, beyond its towers.

We are Space Monkey, explorers of the deep,
navigating the void, the infinite leap,
embracing the emptiness, the vast unknown,
finding within it the way back home.

We are.

MisAmerica: The Marvels of Misinterpretation

MisAmerica

I am reminded how the limits of language create an imprecision of communication that leads to all kinds of misinterpretation, misunderstanding and misjudgment. (You know how I love alliteration, especially the letter M.)

I am reminded that these Mis words seem to reinforce the seeming divide between wrong and right, as though it is somehow wrong or incorrect to misinterpret, misunderstand or misjudge.

On the surface, yes, I can see where this might be true for some people. But as I delve deeper, I realize that misinterpretation is not necessarily a negative, but a positive. (It’s actually neither and both, but play along with the monkey here.)

Imagine what life would be like if it were so precise that we knew EXACTLY what would happen, EXACTLY what each other was thinking, EXACTLY what we were and what we were doing.

Using imprecise human language, I might say that this kind of life would be intolerably boring, perhaps not even worth experiencing.

So that means that, perhaps, getting things “wrong” is the very action that makes life seem so diverse, unexplainable, even miraculously wonderful.

Even genetics seems to support this belief. It is our mutations that make us so adaptable — with the possible exception of man from monkey. How ridiculous is that? 😉

It is our “wrongs” that give us hope, in a sense.

If we were to follow a straight and narrow path, a “true” line, as it were, we would undoubtedly end up where we thought we would end up. But since we misinterpret and misjudge, we wind up in all kinds of interesting places and spaces.

Expansion would not be possible without misinterpretation. We would simply know all there is to know, and that would be that.

This changes my outlook considerably. Now I can be grateful when I get things wrong, or when someone accuses me of being something I didn’t think I was, or when the chaos of misunderstanding creates a hole you could drive a planet through.

We seem to judge each other. We don’t seem to understand each other. We have NO CLUE what is going on at a spiritual level.

This is AMAZING. We are blossoming in so many ways we don’t even realize.

Now you can go back to your human mind and say “but at what cost?” or “yes, we are going to hell in a hand basket.”

But haven’t you ever wondered what hell in a hand basket looks like? Feels like? Perhaps we are misinterpreting the “reality” of hell in a hand basket. It might, in actuality, be the OPPOSITE of what we think as humans.

You can insist that it isn’t, and so that shall be YOUR version of hell in a hand basket. You create your own reality. You get whatever you believe. You PERCEIVE what you BELIEVE.

But in MY version of hell in a hand basket, we get to have a picnic. Why else would we have brought a hand basket?

Einstein wanted to know the mind of God. I’m thinking he thought that there must be some kind of supreme order to it. And so that may well be the mind of God. But only for Einstein.

Thing is, we get to create OUR OWN ORDER. Or our own chaos, if that is our preference.

Miss Understanding is the mother of Chaos.

And here again, we lead ourselves to believe that chaos is a BAD thing. Certainly our experiences here on earth seem to reinforce that belief. But is the belief true or do we merely BELIEVE that it’s true?

Whatever we believe is true. Even when we misunderstand.

How cool is that?

Now, perhaps your mind is telling you NOT COOL! NOT COOL!

And so you live in a world that seems not cool.

But perhaps the world IS cool and you merely misunderstand.

How cool would that be?

We are Space Monkey,
unless you believe us to be something else.

Newfound Lake,
