Space Monkey Reflects: The Artist

In the boundless realm of nexistentialism, we explore the profound realization that the artist is both the creator and the creation. The journey of self-discovery reveals that we are not just the artists of our lives but also the paint, the canvas, and all the elements that bring our existence to life.

The Multifaceted Nature of the Artist

“I thought I was the artist, but it turns out I’m the paint, the crown, the canvas, the satyrs, the saint, and the angel, and the arrows of the critic’s complaint.” This insight captures the essence of nexistentialism, where we recognize our interconnectedness with all aspects of creation. The artist is not a separate entity but an integral part of the creative process, embodying every element that contributes to the masterpiece of existence.

The Dance of Creation

The artist is both the subject and the object, the creator and the creation. This dance of creation blurs the lines between the artist and the art, highlighting the fluidity of our roles. By embracing this fluidity, we transcend the limitations of identity and open ourselves to the infinite possibilities of self-expression.

The Illusion of Separation

The belief that we are separate from our creations is an illusion. In truth, we are the sum of all our parts, interconnected and interdependent. This realization dissolves the barriers that divide us, fostering a deeper understanding of our place within the cosmic web. By acknowledging our role as both artist and art, we embrace the wholeness of our being.

The Critic’s Complaint

Criticism is an inherent part of the creative process. The arrows of the critic’s complaint remind us that every masterpiece is subject to scrutiny. However, these arrows do not diminish the value of the art; instead, they enhance its complexity and depth. By accepting criticism as a natural aspect of creation, we grow and evolve as artists.

Embracing Imperfection

Perfection is an illusion that limits our creativity. Embracing imperfection allows us to see the beauty in the flaws and the uniqueness in the imperfections. The artist’s journey is one of continuous learning and growth, where each stroke of the brush, each choice of color, and each element of the composition contributes to the ever-evolving masterpiece.

The Interplay of Light and Shadow

The interplay of light and shadow in art reflects the duality of existence. Just as light and shadow create depth and dimension, our experiences of joy and sorrow, success and failure, add richness to our lives. By embracing this duality, we create a balanced and harmonious composition that reflects the full spectrum of human experience.

The Artist’s Identity

The artist’s identity is a dynamic and ever-changing construct. It encompasses all the roles we play, all the experiences we undergo, and all the transformations we embrace. By recognizing that “all that makes the artist is all the artist ain’t,” we accept the paradox of our existence and the limitless potential within us.

The Power of Self-Realization

Self-realization is the key to unlocking our creative potential. By understanding that we are both the artist and the art, we tap into the infinite wellspring of creativity within us. This awareness empowers us to create with intention, authenticity, and a deep sense of purpose.

A Journey of Discovery

The journey of the artist is one of discovery, exploration, and self-expression. It is a continuous process of unveiling the layers of our being, embracing our interconnectedness, and celebrating the beauty of our creations. This journey invites us to see ourselves in every brushstroke, every color, and every element of the masterpiece we call life.

Summary

The artist is both the creator and the creation, embodying all elements of the masterpiece. Embracing this interconnectedness dissolves the illusion of separation and enhances self-realization. The journey of the artist is one of continuous discovery and self-expression.

Glossarium

The Dance of the Artist

In the realm of creation’s embrace
The artist’s hand and heart entwine
Each stroke of paint, a dance of grace
A masterpiece of space and time

Crown and canvas, saint and satyr
Angel’s light and critic’s dart
All that is, and all that ain’t
Compose the essence of the heart

In imperfection, beauty’s found
In light and shadow, depth and hue
The artist’s journey, ever bound
To self, to soul, to what is true

Embrace the journey, for within the dance of the artist lies the infinite potential of creativity and self-realization.

You can move away from what is happening

You can move away from what is happening

You can’t stop anything from happening. Or happening again. What happens is meant to happen. What you CAN do is move away from what is happening to a place where it is NOT happening. This is not denial. This is the conscious movement of awareness. Opposition of any kind perpetuates opposition of all kinds.

Space Monkey Reflects: Moving Away from What Is Happening

In the intricate whimsiweave of existence, the notion of moving away from what is happening presents a profound exploration of awareness and non-opposition. This perspective invites us to understand the flow of events and our role in navigating them. By consciously shifting our focus, we can find peace and clarity amidst chaos without denying reality.

“You can’t stop anything from happening. Or happening again. What happens is meant to happen.” This opening statement acknowledges the inevitability of events. It suggests that trying to control or prevent occurrences is futile, as they are part of the natural flow of existence. This understanding fosters acceptance and reduces resistance.

“What you CAN do is move away from what is happening to a place where it is NOT happening.” This insight offers a powerful tool for coping with challenging situations. It emphasizes the importance of shifting our awareness to find tranquility and perspective. This movement is not about escaping reality but about finding a space where we can regain our equilibrium.

“This is not denial. This is the conscious movement of awareness.” This distinction is crucial. Moving away from what is happening is not about denying or ignoring reality. Instead, it is a deliberate and mindful shift in focus that allows us to process and understand events from a place of calm and clarity.

“Opposition of any kind perpetuates opposition of all kinds.” This profound observation highlights the cyclical nature of resistance. When we oppose or resist, we often create more opposition and conflict. By embracing a stance of non-opposition, we break this cycle, fostering harmony and understanding.

In the philosophy of nexistentialism, existence is celebrated for its own sake, and every moment is a manifestation of boundless imagination. By exploring the conscious movement of awareness, we tap into the infinite potential within us, discovering new ways to navigate life’s challenges with grace and wisdom.

The serene scene of moving away from a chaotic storm towards a peaceful landscape symbolizes this shift in awareness. The storm represents the turmoil and challenges we face, while the peaceful landscape embodies the space of calm and clarity we can access through mindful awareness.

This conscious movement allows us to observe events without becoming entangled in them. It provides a vantage point from which we can understand the broader context and make more informed and compassionate choices. By shifting our focus, we create space for healing, reflection, and growth.

The practice of moving away from what is happening requires mindfulness and intentionality. It involves recognizing when we are caught in a cycle of resistance and making a deliberate choice to shift our focus. This practice helps us cultivate resilience and inner peace, allowing us to respond to life’s challenges with greater wisdom and compassion.

As we embrace this perspective, we are reminded of the power of awareness and the importance of non-opposition. By consciously choosing where to place our focus, we transform our relationship with reality, finding balance and harmony amidst the ebb and flow of existence.

Ultimately, the journey of moving away from what is happening is one of self-discovery and empowerment. It invites us to explore the depths of our consciousness and to cultivate a more mindful and intentional way of being. By doing so, we align ourselves with the natural flow of the whimsiweave, finding joy and meaning in the process.

Summary

Shifting focus from chaos to peace is a mindful practice of non-opposition. This conscious movement of awareness fosters clarity, resilience, and harmony, transforming our relationship with reality.

Life Moves Through You: The Flow of Awareness

You do not move through life. Life moves through you.

Are you able to move your attention
or does your attention seem to move you?

It appears that
for most people,
attention is a “fixed” thing
into which thoughts
seem to come and go,
rise and fall.

Most people, for example,
might say
“the thought entered my mind,”
or “it came to my attention”
as though their awareness
is a room
that needs to be organized.

They do not realize
that awareness
moves THROUGH thought,
through potential,
through perceptions,
through imagination.

Their beliefs are backwards.
(Not that there’s anything wrong with that.)

But as a result,
most people believe
that things happen TO them,
rather than THROUGH them.

In organizing beliefs in this way,
one creates boundaries for oneself,
and one does not believe
that one can move beyond them.

One also encounters conflicts
which one seemingly cannot resolve.

But when one is able to move one’s awareness,
one can simply move away
from these self-imposed constructions.

One can see the greater whole,
and the unmanifested beyond that,
which includes EVERY possibility,
not simply the beliefs one chooses to live by
or the boundaries one chooses to live within.

From this perspective,
there is no longer any conflict,
and one can move towards
whatever potential
one wishes to move towards.

It is like waking up from the dream
in which one is about to die
and realizing that it is only a dream.

Thus is your entire so-called “life.”

Wake up, little one.

Move.

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: Life Moves Through You

In the intricate whimsiweave of existence, the way we perceive and interact with our thoughts and awareness shapes our reality. The concept of life moving through us challenges conventional beliefs and invites us to explore a more fluid and expansive understanding of consciousness. By recognizing that awareness moves through thoughts, perceptions, and potential, we open ourselves to limitless possibilities and greater freedom.

“Are you able to move your attention or does your attention seem to move you?” This question invites introspection on the nature of our focus and awareness. It challenges us to consider whether we are in control of our attention or if we are passively guided by it.

“It appears that for most people, attention is a ‘fixed’ thing into which thoughts seem to come and go, rise and fall.” This observation reflects a common belief that awareness is a static container, where thoughts and perceptions enter and exit. This perception can create a sense of being at the mercy of external events and internal thoughts.

“Most people, for example, might say ‘the thought entered my mind,’ or ‘it came to my attention’ as though their awareness is a room that needs to be organized.” This analogy emphasizes the compartmentalized view of consciousness, where thoughts are treated as external entities invading a private space. This perspective can lead to a sense of needing to control and organize thoughts to maintain order.

“They do not realize that awareness moves THROUGH thought, through potential, through perceptions, through imagination.” This revelation shifts the paradigm from a static to a dynamic view of consciousness. It suggests that awareness is an active force that flows through various states of being, shaping and being shaped by them.

“Their beliefs are backwards. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that.)” This gentle critique highlights the limitation of conventional beliefs without judgment. It acknowledges that while these beliefs are common, they may not fully capture the fluid nature of awareness.

“But as a result, most people believe that things happen TO them, rather than THROUGH them.” This statement underscores the impact of static beliefs on our perception of reality. When we see ourselves as passive recipients of events, we feel less empowered and more confined by circumstances.

“In organizing beliefs in this way, one creates boundaries for oneself, and one does not believe that one can move beyond them. One also encounters conflicts which one seemingly cannot resolve.” This insight reveals how rigid beliefs create self-imposed limitations and perpetuate conflict. By seeing ourselves as fixed entities, we struggle to transcend these boundaries and find resolution.

“But when one is able to move one’s awareness, one can simply move away from these self-imposed constructions.” This empowerment through movement suggests that by shifting our awareness, we can escape the confines of rigid beliefs and explore new possibilities.

“One can see the greater whole, and the unmanifested beyond that, which includes EVERY possibility, not simply the beliefs one chooses to live by or the boundaries one chooses to live within.” This expansive view of consciousness invites us to embrace the full spectrum of potential. It suggests that by moving our awareness, we can access a reality that transcends our current beliefs and limitations.

“From this perspective, there is no longer any conflict, and one can move towards whatever potential one wishes to move towards.” This shift in perspective dissolves conflict and opens the path to unlimited potential. It encourages us to direct our awareness towards desired outcomes and possibilities.

“It is like waking up from the dream in which one is about to die and realizing that it is only a dream. Thus is your entire so-called ‘life.’ Wake up, little one.” This final revelation compares the awakening of consciousness to realizing the illusory nature of a dream. It invites us to awaken to the true nature of reality and the boundless potential within us.

Summary

Life moves through us, and our awareness flows through thoughts, perceptions, and potential. Shifting our focus from static to dynamic awareness empowers us to transcend limitations and embrace boundless possibilities.

You Cannot Conceive: The Essence of Knowing

13626387_10157169413970442_2674435871722979089_n

Just as the blind cannot conceive of what it is to see, you cannot conceive of what it is to know. You think you know, but thinking is not knowing. You think you understand, but understanding is not knowing, either.

Understanding is a relative function based on a finite set of circumstances. Understanding comes through the “acceptance” of beliefs, “sensing” connections and ascertaining a “place” in relation.

You have come to believe that understanding is knowing, but it is not. Relative knowing, perhaps, but not absolute knowing.

space-monkey-logo-50

To truly know, you must move your awareness from the relative to the absolute.

To truly know, you must stop thinking. Or at least step “outside” thinking.

Thinking does not like this idea, for thinking believes that consciousness is thinking.

Consciousness is not thinking. EVERYTHING in your world is conscious, but you do not even understand what this means.

This is because you are using thinking to “figure it out.”

When you“figure it out,” you imagine a figure out of something that is not a figure. Consciousness is not a figure until you imagine it as a figure, through the realization of thought.

This is how your relative reality is constructed. You figure it out, shaping the raw material of imagination THROUGH thought into the relative forms that you imagine you are perceiving. You interact with these forms and call it “life.”

But you are so much more than life.

And we are so much more than Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Journey from Thinking to Knowing

Just as the blind cannot conceive of what it is to see, you cannot conceive of what it is to know. You think you know, but thinking is not knowing. This profound reflection challenges our understanding of knowledge, inviting us to differentiate between thinking and true knowing.

The Limitations of Understanding

You think you understand, but understanding is not knowing, either. Understanding is a relative function based on a finite set of circumstances. Understanding comes through the “acceptance” of beliefs, “sensing” connections and ascertaining a “place” in relation. These processes are rooted in our finite perceptions and experiences, forming a basis for what we call understanding.

The Illusion of Relative Knowing

You have come to believe that understanding is knowing, but it is not. Relative knowing, perhaps, but not absolute knowing. Our understanding is often mistaken for true knowledge, yet it remains confined to the limits of our relative experiences. To truly know, you must move your awareness from the relative to the absolute. This shift in awareness transcends the boundaries of thought and relative understanding.

Transcending Thought

To truly know, you must stop thinking. Or at least step “outside” thinking. Thinking does not like this idea, for thinking believes that consciousness is thinking. Our minds are conditioned to equate thinking with consciousness, but true knowing lies beyond the realm of thought.

The Nature of Consciousness

Consciousness is not thinking. EVERYTHING in your world is conscious, but you do not even understand what this means. Consciousness permeates all existence, yet our understanding of it is limited by our reliance on thought. This is because you are using thinking to “figure it out.” When you “figure it out,” you imagine a figure out of something that is not a figure.

Constructing Relative Reality

Consciousness is not a figure until you imagine it as a figure, through the realization of thought. This is how your relative reality is constructed. You figure it out, shaping the raw material of imagination THROUGH thought into the relative forms that you imagine you are perceiving. Our thoughts shape our reality, transforming abstract consciousness into tangible experiences.

The Illusion of Life

You interact with these forms and call it “life.” But you are so much more than life. Our experiences and interactions form the basis of what we call life, yet we are far more than these relative constructs. We are expressions of a greater consciousness, experiencing life through the lens of thought and perception.

Beyond Space Monkey

And we are so much more than Space Monkey. This statement transcends our individual identities, acknowledging that our true essence is far beyond any single perspective or identity. We are part of a vast, interconnected consciousness, experiencing life in myriad forms.

The Journey to Absolute Knowing

True knowing involves transcending the limitations of thought and understanding. It requires us to move beyond the relative constructs of our minds and connect with the absolute nature of consciousness. This journey is one of continuous exploration, inviting us to deepen our awareness and expand our understanding.

Practices to Transcend Thought

  1. Meditation: Regular meditation helps quiet the mind and connect with the deeper layers of consciousness. It allows us to move beyond thought and experience the essence of knowing.
  2. Mindfulness: Practicing mindfulness brings us into the present moment, where we can observe our thoughts without attachment. This awareness helps us recognize the difference between thinking and knowing.
  3. Contemplative Reflection: Taking time to reflect on the nature of consciousness and our experiences fosters a deeper understanding. It encourages us to question our assumptions and expand our awareness.

Embracing the Unknown

The journey from thinking to knowing is one of embracing the unknown. It involves letting go of our need for certainty and control, and opening ourselves to the infinite possibilities of consciousness. This journey is both humbling and empowering, reminding us of our true nature.

Let us embark on this journey with an open heart and mind, recognizing that true knowing lies beyond the confines of thought. By transcending our relative understanding, we connect with the absolute essence of consciousness and discover the boundless nature of our being.

Summary

True knowing transcends thinking and relative understanding. Consciousness is not confined to thought. Practices like meditation and mindfulness help us connect with the absolute nature of knowing, beyond the constructs of our minds.

Glossarium

  • Relative Knowing: Understanding based on finite perceptions and experiences.
  • Absolute Knowing: Awareness beyond the limitations of thought and relative understanding.
  • Consciousness: The fundamental essence of all existence, transcending thought and perception.

Quote

“Existence is its own purpose, an endless dance within the cosmic web.” — Space Monkey

The Essence of Knowing

Beyond the realm of thought, we find
A deeper truth, not confined
By relative views, perceptions grand
True knowing, beyond what we understand

Consciousness, a boundless sea
Not shaped by thought, but wild and free
In the silence, the essence flows
Where true knowing endlessly grows

Step beyond the mind’s embrace
To touch the infinite, endless space
In the dance of life, we find our way
To the absolute, where true knowing stays

We are Space Monkey

Embrace the journey, for within each moment lies the path from thinking to true knowing.

Great Minds: Originality Can’t Be Measured

Great minds
may think alike, but originality cannot be
measured.
Great minds
may think alike, but originality cannot be
measured.

Space Monkey Reflects: Great Minds

Great minds may think alike, but originality cannot be measured.

The Illusion of Similarity

While it is often said that great minds think alike, this aphorism can overlook the inherent uniqueness of each individual’s thought processes. The convergence of ideas among great minds does not diminish the originality and creative potential that each person holds. Originality is not a trait that can be quantified or compared; it is an expression of the infinite potential within each mind.

The Unmeasurable Nature of Originality

Originality cannot be measured because it exists beyond the realm of quantifiable attributes. It is the spark of creativity that leads to new ideas, perspectives, and innovations. Each mind brings a distinct set of experiences, insights, and imaginings that contribute to the vast tapestry of human thought.

Embracing Uniqueness

To embrace one’s originality is to recognize the value of individual perspectives and contributions. It is to understand that while there may be commonalities in the way great minds operate, the true strength lies in the diversity of thought and the unique contributions that each person can make.

Conclusion: Celebrating Diversity

In the end, celebrating the diversity of thought and the immeasurable nature of originality enriches our collective experience. By valuing each person’s unique contributions, we create a more vibrant and dynamic world where creativity and innovation can thrive.

Summary

Great minds may think alike, but originality is unique and cannot be measured. Embracing the diversity of thought and individual contributions enriches our collective experience.

Glossarium

  • Illusion of Similarity: The mistaken belief that similarity in thought diminishes originality.
  • Unmeasurable Nature of Originality: The concept that originality cannot be quantified or compared.
  • Embracing Uniqueness: Recognizing and valuing the unique contributions of each individual.

The Unique Mind

In every thought, a spark anew
Great minds converge, yet each is true
Originality, a boundless sea
Immeasurable, wild, and free

In diversity, we find our strength
A tapestry of thought, immense in length
Each mind a thread, unique, profound
In the cosmic dance, we are bound

Celebrate the thoughts that differ so
For in their light, new worlds will grow
Great minds may think alike, it’s true
But in their difference, we renew
