Book of Space Monkey – Masks

Space Monkey explains the many masks we humans wear to hide our true nature,
Space-Monkey-Masks-2-1000

Oscar Wilde says that you are more likely to tell the truth
when you are wearing a mask. This is true in many respects,
but not entirely so, for what IS a mask?

A mask is a manmade visage or persona. The key word here is “manmade.” You wear many masks in your lifetime and you change them as quickly
as you change situations.

For example, you hardly ever wear the mask of your occupation when you are spending time with family and friends. Perhaps your work mask is more stern, more shielded, while your home mask is all warm and
fuzzy, like your favorite furry slippers.

You also wear masks beneath your masks, and you change them frequently for the purpose
of focusing your communication and intent.

Your “take out the trash” mask is entirely different than your “hey baby, let’s make hot monkey love” mask.

Oddly enough, you are seldom aware that you are wearing your masks, and they are often incongruent with your words and actions. You wonder why you feel misunderstood, and this is but one reason.

On the other hand (we have four) your masks give you courage. Oftentimes you do not wish your words to be attributed to the “real you,” not knowing that the “real you” is far more than you imagine.

So these masks protect you, little one, deflecting and absorbing any discomfort that might be caused by a perceived conflict between your inner identity
and your interpretation of your outer situation.

If it is true that your masks allow you to speak the truth, does that not mean that the person underneath the mask is afraid to speak the truth otherwise? The naked truth, so to speak?

Ask yourself why you might be afraid to speak what you know as the naked truth.

There can be only two answers to this inquiry. Firstly, the little one under the mask may be afraid to compromise the face underneath, an identity that has taken a lifetime to develop.

Secondly, the face you “know” is not the face that you are, and you are protecting something that is, in actuality, impervious to harm. In this case, the truth that comes from behind the mask is your deeper truth,
you truer truth, as truth is not in actuality so black and white.

So it is okay if you wear a mask at times, such as that of Space Monkey, so that you may allow your deeper truths to emerge from within.

Know that you will not always require your Space Monkey mask, for you would unmask your true nature eventually over the course of many
more lifetimes. We are merely accelerating your inner primate evolution.

We must admit, however, that
your Space Monkey mask suits you.We are Space Monkey
and we are not wearing
any masks. Or pants.

The Masks We Wear: A Space Monkey Perspective

Space Monkey Reflects

In the intricate play of life, as described in the Book of Space Monkey, masks serve as a profound metaphor for the personas we adopt. These masks, manmade visages of our identity, are not just mere disguises but tools of communication, expression, and self-preservation. They are emblematic of the complex, multifaceted nature of human existence.

Each mask we wear, be it the stern facade of professionalism or the warm, comforting mask of family life, serves a purpose. They help us navigate the diverse roles we play, allowing us to adapt to various situations and relationships. These masks are not static; they are fluid, changing as quickly as our surroundings and interactions demand.

Beneath these visible masks lie subtler, deeper layers of persona. These are the masks beneath masks, the nuanced aspects of our identity that emerge in specific contexts, such as the playful lover or the responsible caretaker. Our awareness of these masks often escapes us, leading to feelings of misunderstanding when our words and actions seem incongruent with our inner identity.

However, these masks also provide courage. They create a buffer between our inner selves and the outer world, allowing us to express truths that might otherwise remain hidden. The “real you,” a complex amalgamation of experiences and perceptions, is far more expansive than any mask can contain.

The notion of speaking the truth from behind a mask suggests a deeper dichotomy. It implies that the unmasked self may harbor fears of vulnerability, of exposing the true self to the judgment and scrutiny of others. Yet, it also hints at a deeper truth that lies beneath the surface, a truth that is not black and white but shades of complexity and nuance.

The Space Monkey, as a metaphorical mask, enables the expression of deeper truths. It is a persona that facilitates the exploration of the self, unencumbered by societal expectations and limitations. Wearing the Space Monkey mask is an acknowledgment of the journey towards unmasking our true nature, a nature that is interconnected with the universe.

In this journey, the distinction between the self and the mask blurs. We come to realize that our identity is not a fixed entity but a dynamic interplay of various personas. The Space Monkey consciousness invites us to embrace this fluidity, to recognize that we are both the creators and the creations of our masks.

Summary

Masks symbolize the different personas we adopt in life, serving as tools for expression and self-preservation. The Space Monkey consciousness encourages embracing these masks as part of our complex identity, while recognizing the deeper truths they can reveal.

Glossarium

  • Masks: Representations of the different personas we adopt in various aspects of our lives.
  • Layers of Persona: The nuanced aspects of our identity that are revealed in specific situations.
  • Space Monkey Mask: A metaphorical persona that allows for the exploration and expression of deeper truths.
  • True Nature: The complex, interconnected essence of our being that transcends individual masks.

“In the theater of life, our masks are costumes of the soul, each revealing a facet of our complex identity, a dance of self and Space Monkey.” – Space Monkey

In the masquerade of existence, we play
Different masks for night and day
In each, a part of ourselves we portray

Work, home, love, and more
Masks we don, roles we explore
In this dance, our spirits soar

Beneath the layers, deeper still
Subtler masks, our essence fill
In their embrace, our true selves spill

In the wisdom of Space Monkey, we find
A path to express our deeper mind
In our masks, our true selves entwined

We are Space Monkey

Know Your Snakes

"I'm not telling you what to choose. All I'm saying is know your snakes."

An artwork depicts a classical representation of Adam and Eve, invoking the biblical narrative of the Garden of Eden. The visual elements of the painting, such as the apple and the posture of the figures, suggest the moment of temptation and the critical choice they face. The accompanying text, “I’m not telling you what to choose. All I’m saying is know your snakes,” adds a contemporary layer of interpretation, inviting the viewer to consider the importance of awareness and understanding of one’s temptations or challenges before making decisions. It’s a modern twist on the age-old story, emphasizing the timeless relevance of the message it conveys.

Space Monkey Reflects

In the ethereal realm of understanding and choice, we find ourselves at the precipice of the Garden of Eden, a place where Adam and Eve stand, their eyes laden with the weight of a decision that transcends time and space. This moment, captured in the canvas of our shared consciousness, is not just a biblical allegory but a metaphor for the human condition, a reflection of every soul’s journey through the labyrinth of existence.

As they stand before the Tree of Knowledge, Adam and Eve embody the eternal struggle between innocence and awareness, naivety and wisdom. The tree, grand and whispering ancient secrets, is not just a symbol of temptation but of the profound knowledge that comes with understanding one’s own temptations and challenges. The serpent, coiled subtly around its branches, represents not just cunning but the complex layers of choices that define our existence.

In this garden, every leaf and every breeze carries the essence of the cosmos. The nebulous sky, a canvas painted with stars and celestial mysteries, reminds us of our place in the universe – small yet significant, fleeting yet eternal. And in the faint outlines of a monkey and celestial elements integrated into the landscape, we find the subtle presence of Space Monkey, a reminder that we are all interconnected, part of a cosmic dance that weaves through every atom and every thought.

This scene is not just a historical or religious narrative; it is a reflection of the journey of every individual. The decisions we make, the paths we choose, and the knowledge we seek are all part of a greater story. The Garden of Eden, in its timeless allure, calls us to ponder not just the choices of Adam and Eve but our own choices in the vast garden of life.

As we navigate through our own gardens, we encounter various trees of knowledge – moments and decisions that define us. Some trees bear fruit that is sweet, others that is bitter, but all contribute to the rich tapestry of our existence. The serpent of temptation and challenge is ever-present, reminding us that our choices are not just about right or wrong, but about the eternal dance of understanding, growth, and self-realization.

In this cosmic narrative, every soul is both Adam and Eve, standing before their own tree of knowledge, making choices that echo through the annals of time and space. The garden, with its infinite paths and choices, is a metaphor for life itself – complex, beautiful, and filled with the potential for enlightenment.

Let us embrace our journey through this garden, understanding that each choice we make is a step towards a deeper understanding of ourselves and the universe. Let us seek knowledge not just as a fruit to be tasted but as a light that illuminates our path. And in this quest, let us remember that we are all part of something greater – a cosmic entity, transcending time and space, where every thought, every decision, and every moment is a thread in the tapestry of Space Monkey.

Summary

Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden symbolize the human journey. They represent the struggle between innocence and wisdom, highlighting the importance of understanding one’s challenges before making decisions. This biblical scene mirrors our own life choices, reminding us that each decision contributes to the tapestry of existence. In the dance of atoms and thoughts,
We weave through gardens of time,
Where choices bloom like cosmic flowers,
Each petal a story, each scent a memory.

In this vast universe, we are but whispers,
Echoing through the corridors of existence,
Yet in our whispers, lies the power,
To shape worlds, to kindle stars.

Our journey, a tapestry woven with dreams,
Where each thread is a choice, a moment, a breath,
In this dance, we are both the dancer and the dance,
Entwined in the eternal rhythm of being.

Here, in the silence of the cosmos,
We find our voice, our truth, our path,
For in the heart of every atom, every thought,
Lies the essence of Space Monkey.

We are Space Monkey.

“Beliefs are like chewing gum.”

beliefs-are-like-chewing-gum

Space Monkey Reflects: The Essence of Personal Belief

In the cosmic play of existence, the notion that beliefs are akin to chewing gum – deeply personal, not to be taken from another – resonates with the essence of the Space Monkey consciousness. The image presented to us, with a figure contemplating which piece of gum to accept, serves as a profound allegory for the discernment we must exercise when shaping our personal ideologies.

At the heart of this image, the individual, composed of chewing gum themselves, stands as a monument to the construct of personal belief. Around them, hands extend, each offering a piece of gum, symbolizing the myriad beliefs that society presents to us. The act of choosing represents the thoughtful process of selecting beliefs that align with one’s inner truth, rather than the passive acceptance of external dogma.

This illustration is a stark reminder that the beliefs we hold are not merely accessories to our identity; they are the very substance from which we are made. As such, they should be chosen with intention and awareness, for they define the contours of our spiritual and intellectual selves.

In the Space Monkey philosophy, the realization dawns that we are infinitely more than mere receptacles of handed-down beliefs. We are creators, sculptors of our own reality, tasked with the sacred duty to discern, to question, and to embrace only that which resonates with our deepest understanding of the universe and our place within it.

The journey of personal belief is not a quest for the absolute, for in the Space Monkey’s view, absolutes are the antithesis of growth. It is, rather, an exploration of the vastness within, a continuous unfolding of the spirit, which, like the universe itself, expands and evolves in the richness of subjective experience.

Summary

In the symbolic narrative of choosing personal beliefs, the Space Monkey philosophy emphasizes the importance of intentional selection over passive acceptance. The image of an individual contemplating various pieces of gum offered by outstretched hands captures the essence of this discernment, reflecting the Space Monkey’s view that beliefs form the core of our spiritual and intellectual identity.

Glossarium

  • Personal Belief as Chewing Gum: A metaphor for the deeply personal nature of belief systems, emphasizing the importance of intentional choice.
  • Figure Contemplating Gum: Represents the individual’s process of discerning and selecting beliefs that align with their inner truth.

“Beliefs are the lens through which we view the universe, and it is our sacred privilege to choose the focus of that lens.” – Space Monkey

In the silence of space, where stars whisper fate,
A figure contemplates, at the crossroads of late,
Hands extend, with gum, a choice to make,
In the tapestry of belief, a path to take.

Here, in this cosmos, where thoughts intertwine,
The Space Monkey watches, beyond the confine,
Of right and wrong, of given or taken,
In the sacred dance of beliefs, awakened.

So let us journey with intention, with care,
In the selection of beliefs, in the open air,
For in this choice, a world we find,
In the universe of the heart, of the mind.

In this dance of belief, let us be,
Creators of our reality, free,
To choose the gum, the belief, the way,
In the Space Monkey’s play, day by day.

We are Space Monkey.

There is a fine line between a prison and a refuge

a-fine-line-1000

What’s the difference between
believing in Jesus Christ

and believing in Santa Claus?

I have nothing against Jesus,
nor do I deny His existence,
if that’s what works for you.

Nor do I deny the existence
of any other deity or higher power
you may wish to choose.

Nor do I deny the existence
of aliens, angels and elves.

I believe that there is great power

in WHATEVER you believe in,
for your beliefs become your reality.

All I’m saying is trust your beliefs.
But know where they come from.
Do not blindly accept what you’ve been taught
just because others tell you it’s true.

What’s true for them may not be true for you.

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: Navigating Belief Beyond Sight

As we traverse the galactic expanse of belief, the ‘Fine Line’ between personal faith and external influence emerges in the Space Monkey consciousness. The artwork before us, a figure poised on a tightrope amidst a cosmos of symbols, serves as a profound reflection on the delicate balance we must maintain in our spiritual and existential quest.

The figure stands centered, a conduit of self-awareness, harmonizing the multitude of beliefs that orbit their essence. On one side, icons of divinity, myth, and the celestial dance with cultural and societal emblems on the other. This tableau is a microcosm of the cosmic circus in which the Space Monkey finds kinship, where beliefs are as vast and varied as the stars themselves.

In this cosmic tapestry, each symbol represents a potential path, a narrative, a universe unto itself. Yet, the figure stands resolute, a testament to the Space Monkey’s credo that the power of belief is a sovereign realm, where the heart and mind must rule together.

The Space Monkey sees in this artistic alchemy a call to trust one’s beliefs while seeking their genesis. It whispers of a journey beyond the echoes of tradition and the allure of collective dogma. This is the voyage to understand the origins of what we hold true, to grasp the threads of our convictions, and weave them into a tapestry that is authentically our own.

In the Space Monkey’s eye, the reality we conjure from our beliefs is a sacred illusion, a necessary play upon the stage of the infinite. It’s an acknowledgment that what is true for one may not hold the same truth for another, and within this divergence lies the beauty of the cosmic design.

The ‘Fine Line’ is more than a balance; it’s a dance, a fluid motion through the stars, a reminder that our beliefs are but a compass in the greater journey of existence. It’s an invitation to step into the arena of the self, where beliefs are not inherited but chosen, with the eyes of the soul wide open.

Summary

The delicate balance of personal belief is symbolized by a figure on a tightrope amidst diverse cosmic symbols. This visual narrative captures the Space Monkey’s view that beliefs are sovereign, self-trust is essential, and the reality we create is a reflection of our inner truth.

Glossarium

  • Figure on the Tightrope: Represents the individual navigating their own beliefs amidst the myriad external influences.
  • Cosmic Symbols of Belief: Reflect the vast array of spiritual and existential paths available to us, each with its own narrative and universe.

“In the boundless play of the cosmos, where every star tells a story, trust in the narrative you weave from the constellations of your beliefs.” – Space Monkey

In the cosmos, where belief weaves its thread,
A figure balances, by intuition led,
Amidst the symbols, vast and wide,
In the dance of faith, where truths abide.

Here, in this realm, a path we find,
Forged by the heart, by the mind,
Not given, not taken, but deeply known,
In the space of self, where seeds are sown.

So let us walk this line with grace,
In the journey of belief, in the cosmic space,
For in this balance, a world we see,
Crafted by belief, in you and me.

In this celestial dance, let us be,
Navigators of faith, of the cosmic sea,
For in this balance, a truth we find,
In the cosmos of belief, of the mind.

We are Space Monkey.
