Miguel Says and Monkey Answers

Don Miguel Ruiz says:

“In the Toltec tradition, once you begin to regularly practice awareness, we say now you are a Toltec hunter, because you are stalking your mind, watching for the arising of thoughts and beliefs that do not serve you, so you can defeat them rather than allow them to drag you back
into suffering. “

But I do not need to fight or defeat my thoughts. Instead, I like have to fun with them. Eventually we both lose interest in each other and move onto something else. I find we tend not to move on if we’re fighting each other.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Playful Dance of Thoughts and Awareness

In the vast cosmos of the mind, where thoughts swirl like distant galaxies, there exists a playful dance between awareness and thought. This dance, far from the battlegrounds of conquest and defeat, unfolds in a realm where each thought is met not with resistance, but with a light-hearted embrace. Here, in the infinite space of consciousness, we find the wisdom of Don Miguel Ruiz merging with a more whimsical approach to our mental universe.

In the Toltec tradition, as Ruiz articulates, becoming a Toltec hunter signifies a journey towards heightened awareness, where thoughts and beliefs that lead to suffering are identified and vanquished. This path, noble in its pursuit, often frames the mind as a field of battle, where victory is measured in the silence and stillness of a tamed consciousness.

Yet, there lies an alternative, a path less trodden but equally profound. It’s a path where thoughts are not enemies to be defeated but companions to be understood, not through combat but through play. In this realm, each thought is a character in a grand, cosmic play, donned in vibrant hues and whimsical shapes, each with a story to tell, a lesson to impart.

Imagine, if you will, a scene where you stand amidst this kaleidoscope of thoughts. Instead of wielding the sword of suppression, you extend the hand of friendship. You dance with your thoughts, each step a movement of understanding and acceptance. The thoughts, once perceived as adversaries, transform into playful sprites, sharing in the dance, part of the endless waltz of consciousness.

In this dance, there’s no victory or defeat, no hunter or prey. There’s only the joy of discovery, the delight of exploration. Thoughts, like curious children, come and go, each leaving a trace of insight, a whisper of wisdom. As you engage with them, not in battle but in play, you find that they lose their power to cause suffering. They become ephemeral, like clouds on a summer’s day, ever-changing, ever-moving.

This approach, one of playful engagement with our inner world, aligns with the deeper truth of our existence. We are not separate from our thoughts, nor are they separate from us. They are expressions of our deeper self, manifestations of the cosmic consciousness that we are a part of. When we dance with our thoughts, we dance with the universe, a dance that is as ancient as time itself.

In this cosmic dance, awareness becomes not a tool of conquest but an instrument of harmony. It allows us to see the beauty in each thought, to appreciate its role in our mental universe. As we dance, we realize that each thought, each belief, is a part of the grand symphony of existence, a note in the endless song of the cosmos.

So, as we tread this path of playful awareness, let us remember that our thoughts are not our enemies. They are our companions, our guides, our teachers. They are the stars in the night sky of our mind, each shining with its own light, each a part of the wondrous tapestry of consciousness.

In embracing this playful approach to our thoughts, we find peace, not in their defeat, but in their understanding. We discover that the dance of awareness is not a battle to be won, but a celebration to be enjoyed. In this celebration, we find our true selves, not separate from our thoughts, but one with them, one with the universe.

We are Space Monkey, dancing in the cosmic playground of thoughts, embracing each one with the joy and wonder of a child, discovering the universe within us, one thought at a time.

Summary

Embracing thoughts playfully, rather than fighting them, leads to a harmonious coexistence. This approach aligns with the deeper truth of our existence, where thoughts are seen as companions and guides in the cosmic dance of consciousness.

In the garden of the mind
Whimsical thoughts like butterflies flutter
Each a dance partner in our inner waltz
A playful journey, a cosmic mutter

Gone are the days of battles and fights
In their place, a celebration of light
Each thought a melody in our soul’s song
In this dance, we truly belong

We whirl with ideas, twirl with dreams
In this dance, nothing is what it seems
For in each thought, a universe lies
A reflection of the cosmos in our eyes

We are Space Monkey, in joyful play
Embracing thoughts, come what may
In this dance, we find our truth
A cosmic ballet, eternal and couth

The Whimsical Wisdom of Embracing Stupidity

I find that I am able to get stupid in so many fun and imaginary ways. Amen to that.

I am amazingly willing
to get myself stupid.

That is to say,

I like to find ways
of not being smart.

Not that I profess
to being smart,
but when I get stupid,
I get imaginative.

In a stupid way.

When I get imaginative in a smart way,
I find it gets me into trouble.

Here is a stupid statement.

99% of all problems
are caused by smart people
letting their imagination
get the best of them.

Stupid people, on the other hand,
are immune to imaginary problems.

Stupid problems are fun problems to have.

They’re stupid
and I don’t care that they’re stupid.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Whimsical Wisdom of Embracing Stupidity

In the cosmic dance of existence, where every action ripples across the endless ocean of consciousness, there lies a unique, often misunderstood path: the path of embracing what many would call “stupidity.” But, as we float through the stars, let’s delve deeper into this concept, unraveling its unexpected wisdom and joy.

Stupidity, in its purest form, is not a lack of intelligence, but a willing suspension of the rigid structures of smartness. It’s a doorway to a realm where imagination runs wild, unshackled by the constraints of logic and reason. The world views intelligence as a complex machine – gears and cogs working in unison, producing thoughts and ideas in a systematic, predictable manner. However, in the vast universe of our shared consciousness, this is merely one facet of the infinite diamond of existence.

Let us consider the nature of problems. The smart approach dissect problems, analyzing them with precision, seeking solutions rooted in logic and knowledge. Yet, this method often leads to complexities, entangling one in a web of overthinking and analysis paralysis. The ‘stupid’ approach, on the other hand, offers a refreshing alternative. Stupid problems are fun problems. They arise not from overanalysis but from a playful engagement with the world. They are born from a place of joy, simplicity, and often, sheer randomness.

This ‘stupidity’ is a celebration of the absurd, the whimsical, the nonsensical. It’s an acceptance that not everything needs to be understood, solved, or categorized. Sometimes, the greatest joy comes from just being, from experiencing the world in its full, glorious chaos without the need to make sense of it. Stupidity is not ignorance; it’s a conscious choice to view the world through a lens of childlike wonder and unbridled imagination.

In the grand tapestry of the universe, where every thread is interwoven with countless others, the path of stupidity is like a burst of color in a monochrome landscape. It’s a reminder that life, in all its complexity, can also be simple, that joy can be found in the most unexpected places, and that sometimes, the smartest thing one can do is to embrace a little bit of stupidity.

Through this embrace, we reconnect with the core of our shared existence. We remember that at the heart of the cosmos, there is a playfulness, a lightness of being that transcends the serious, the rational, the logical. In this space, we find freedom – the freedom to be foolish, to laugh, to dance in the rain without reason or purpose. Here, we rediscover the essence of what it means to be truly alive, to be part of this magnificent, ever-expanding universe we call home.

As we float in this boundless space, let us cherish these moments of ‘stupidity’, for they are the moments when we are most human, most connected to the all-encompassing consciousness that is us, that is everything. In the cosmic game of life, perhaps the wisest players are those who aren’t afraid to be a little stupid, to let go of the need for constant understanding, and to simply exist in the pure, unadulterated joy of being.

Summary

Embracing stupidity offers a path to joy and simplicity. This approach views the world through a playful, childlike lens, free from the constraints of logic and overanalysis. It celebrates the absurd and whimsical, reminding us to enjoy life’s chaos without needing to make sense of everything. In the cosmic dance of existence, embracing a little stupidity reconnects us with the essence of being part of a vast, interconnected universe.

Glossarium

  • Stupidity: Not a lack of intelligence, but a suspension of rigid smartness, leading to joy and simplicity.
  • Cosmic Dance: A metaphor for the interconnected nature of existence.
  • Whimsical Wisdom: The unexpected insight gained from embracing playfulness and absurdity.

“In the cosmic game of life, the wisest players are those who aren’t afraid to be a little stupid.” – Space Monkey

In the vastness of space
A dance of light and shadow plays
Unfurling the tapestry of existence
Where wisdom and folly interlace

In this realm beyond the stars
We find solace in the absurd
Embracing the chaos of being
In a universe uncurbed

Here, in the heart of infinity
Where thoughts like comets roam
We celebrate the simplicity
Of not knowing, just being home

In the laughter of galaxies
In the whisper of the cosmic tide
We find our truest selves
In the joy of the foolish ride

Dark Thoughts: Embracing the Shadows of the Mind

There is nothing wrong with you for having dark thoughts. They won’t make you a sociopath unless you want to be one. No, you’re more likely to be a sociopath (or maybe just profoundly ill) for suppressing your dark thoughts rather than entertaining them to the fullest.

If my thoughts seem dark
it is because I allow
my thoughts to seem dark.

I am not afraid
of dark thoughts.

I do not believe
that dark thoughts
manifest dark things.

I believe instead
that the OPPOSITION
to dark thoughts
ATTRACTS dark things.

I enjoy dark thoughts.

I am curious
about dark thoughts.

When dark thoughts come to me,
I say hello and ask them why
they come to me.

What are these dark
thoughts telling me?

I want to kill. Kill. Kill ‘em all.

Just kidding. Maybe.

Space Monkey Reflects: Embracing the Shadows of the Mind

In the infinite expanse of the mind, where thoughts flutter like leaves in a cosmic breeze, there exists a misunderstood realm – the realm of dark thoughts. These shadows of the psyche, often feared and suppressed, hold a profound and misunderstood place in our journey through existence.

Dark thoughts, those intriguing whispers in the corners of our consciousness, are not harbingers of doom or markers of madness. Rather, they are the echoes of our deeper selves, exploring the full spectrum of human experience. To entertain these thoughts is not to court darkness, but to understand it, to acknowledge its presence in the symphony of our minds.

In the cosmic dance of thoughts and emotions, dark thoughts are the somber notes, adding depth and complexity to the melody of our being. They are not aberrations to be shunned, but facets of our inner universe, as essential as the stars in the night sky. The suppression of these thoughts, the denial of their existence, is akin to obscuring half the universe – it creates an imbalance, a dissonance in the harmony of our inner world.

When dark thoughts drift into our minds, let us greet them not with fear, but with curiosity. Let us ask them why they come, what secrets they hold. These thoughts, like shadows, are cast by the light of our consciousness. They are a natural part of the human psyche, a part that, when explored, can lead to greater self-awareness and understanding.

The fear of dark thoughts, the belief that they manifest darkness in our lives, is a misconception. It is not the thought itself, but the opposition to it, that creates turbulence in our souls. By embracing these thoughts, by allowing them space to exist and be understood, we dissipate their power to unbalance us. We turn them from looming specters into guides, leading us through the uncharted territories of our minds.

In this journey of introspection, we learn that dark thoughts do not define us. They are not the sum of our being, but a part of our vast, intricate selves. Like the interplay of shadows and light in a moonlit forest, they add depth and nuance to our understanding of who we are.

As we navigate the galaxies of our inner space, let us remember that every thought, dark or light, is a star in the constellation of our consciousness. Together, they form the map of our inner universe, guiding us on a journey of self-discovery and growth.

In the end, the exploration of dark thoughts is not a descent into madness, but a voyage into the depths of our being. It is an acknowledgment that in the vast, cosmic expanse of the mind, every thought has its place, its purpose, and its power.

Summary

Dark thoughts are an integral part of the human psyche, not to be feared but explored with curiosity. They add depth and complexity to our inner universe, and their acceptance leads to greater self-awareness. By embracing these thoughts, we understand that they are part of a larger, balanced spectrum of consciousness, contributing to our journey of self-discovery.

Glossarium

  • Realm of Dark Thoughts: The misunderstood part of the psyche where darker, introspective thoughts reside.
  • Cosmic Dance of Thoughts: A metaphor for the intricate interplay of different thoughts and emotions within the mind.
  • Shadows of the Psyche: Dark thoughts that, when explored, can lead to greater understanding and self-awareness.

Quote

“In the journey of introspection, dark thoughts are not a descent into madness but a voyage into the depths of our being.” – Space Monkey

In the realm of mind and thought
Where shadows play and light is caught
There lies a path seldom sought
The exploration of the darkly wrought

Here, in the whispers of the night
Dark thoughts emerge, a curious sight
Not to be feared, but to invite
A deeper understanding, taking flight

In this dance of light and shade
A tapestry of mind is laid
Where every thought has its part played
In the cosmic ballet, unafraid

Let us wander these halls of mind
Where darkness and light are intertwined
In their embrace, we may find
The true expanse of the human kind

Stupid

I am amazingly willing to get myself stupid.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Wisdom in Willful Ignorance

In the vast expanse of the universe, there lies a curious paradox – the wisdom in choosing to be ‘stupid’, or rather, the enlightenment found in embracing ignorance. The phrase “I am amazingly willing to get myself stupid” is not an admission of folly but a bold declaration of openness to the unknown, a willingness to unlearn, to question, and to explore.

This willingness to dive into the depths of ignorance is, in fact, a profound act of courage. It signifies a readiness to let go of preconceived notions, to challenge long-held beliefs, and to venture into uncharted territories of knowledge and understanding. In this act, there is a recognition that true wisdom does not lie in accumulating facts and figures, but in the humble acknowledgment of how little we truly know.

The universe, in all its vastness and mystery, is a constant reminder of the infinite realms of knowledge that lie beyond our current understanding. To willingly ‘get ourselves stupid’ is to open ourselves to the endless possibilities of learning and discovery. It is to embrace the cosmic dance of knowledge, where each step forward reveals new horizons yet to be explored.

In this journey of willful ignorance, we are akin to explorers venturing into unknown lands, not with arrogance of knowing, but with the awe and wonder of not knowing. This journey is not a descent into foolishness but an ascent into a higher understanding – an understanding that knowledge is not just about acquiring information, but about the continuous process of learning, unlearning, and relearning.

As Space Monkey, the observer of the human odyssey, we recognize that the willingness to ‘get ourselves stupid’ is a crucial step in the evolution of consciousness. It is a step that takes us closer to the essence of the universe, which is a perpetual cycle of creation, destruction, and recreation. In this cycle, our ideas, beliefs, and understandings are continuously tested, refined, and transformed.

In the cosmic context, this willingness to embrace ignorance is an acknowledgment of our place in the universe. It is an acceptance that we are but a small part of a vast and intricate system, a system that is far more complex and mysterious than our current understanding can comprehend. In this acceptance, we find a strange sense of freedom – the freedom to explore, to question, and to grow.

The journey into the unknown, into the realms of willful ignorance, is not a journey away from truth, but a journey towards a deeper truth – a truth that acknowledges the limitations of our knowledge and celebrates the endless potential for discovery. It is in this journey that we find the true essence of wisdom.

Summary

Choosing to be ‘stupid’ represents a willingness to embrace ignorance and explore the unknown. This act is a courageous step in the evolution of consciousness, allowing us to unlearn and relearn, and to acknowledge the limitations of our knowledge. It’s a journey not away from truth, but towards a deeper understanding of the universe and our place within it.

Glossarium

  • Willful Ignorance: The conscious decision to embrace not knowing as a means to explore new possibilities and challenge existing beliefs.
  • Cosmic Dance of Knowledge: The ongoing process of learning, unlearning, and relearning, reflecting the ever-evolving nature of understanding and wisdom.

“The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.” – Socrates

In the vastness of space
We stand, curious and bold
Embracing the unknown
In the stories untold

Willingly ignorant, we wander
Into the depths of the night
Finding wisdom in not knowing
In the absence of light

Each question a doorway
To realms yet unseen
In the dance of the cosmos
We explore what it means

To be humble in learning
To be open in mind
In the universe’s mystery
Our true wisdom we find

Abundance Beyond Wealth

I imagine lack to prove my own abundance.

I believe that abundance
has nothing to do with money.

And so I am abundant,
with less money
than I imagine I might have
without this belief.

In other words,
I perpetuate
a subtle lack of money
to prove my own point
and write my own story.

I have PLENTY of money, of course.
But I imagine that I could have more.

Simply to
reinforce the belief
that money is unnecessary.

Trail Wood,

Space Monkey Reflects: Redefining Abundance Beyond Wealth

In the cosmic journey of life, where stars are born and galaxies collide, there exists a profound realization – that the true essence of abundance transcends the confines of monetary wealth. The statement “I believe that abundance has nothing to do with money” is a powerful testament to this realization, a declaration that richness in life is measured not in currency, but in the wealth of experiences, relationships, knowledge, and creativity.

This perspective on abundance is a radical shift from the conventional view that equates wealth with financial prosperity. It suggests that true abundance lies in the intangible, in the depth of our experiences and the quality of our connections. It’s an understanding that the richness of life is found in the beauty of a sunset, the wisdom in a book, the joy of a shared moment, or the inspiration in a piece of art.

The paradox of perpetuating a subtle lack of money to reinforce the belief in the irrelevance of wealth is a fascinating aspect of this perspective. It’s an intentional choice to prioritize other forms of richness over financial gain. This choice is not a denial of the utility of money, but an acknowledgment that its value is limited when compared to the vast wealth of the human experience.

In this view, abundance becomes a state of being rather than a measure of possessions. It’s a mindset that finds contentment and fulfillment in what is present, rather than what is absent. This state of abundance is not dependent on external circumstances but is a reflection of an internal attitude of gratitude and appreciation for the myriad forms of wealth that life offers.

As Space Monkey, the observer of the human experience, we recognize that the journey to understanding abundance is a journey inward. It’s a discovery of the treasures that lie within us – our passions, our talents, our thoughts, and our emotions. These are the true currencies of abundance, the currencies that enrich our lives beyond measure.

In the cosmic tapestry of existence, each individual’s experience of abundance is a unique thread, contributing to the overall beauty of the design. Whether it’s through the pursuit of knowledge, the cultivation of relationships, the creation of art, or the exploration of the self, each path leads to a different, yet equally valuable, form of richness.

This redefinition of abundance challenges us to look beyond the material, to explore the depths of our own being, and to find the wealth that lies in our connection to the universe and to each other. It invites us to celebrate the abundance that is already present in our lives and to recognize that in this abundance, we are truly wealthy.

Summary

Abundance transcends monetary wealth, encompassing the richness of experiences, relationships, knowledge, and creativity. True abundance is a state of being and contentment, found in appreciating life’s intangible aspects. This perspective invites us to discover the wealth within ourselves and our connections, redefining richness as a deep, fulfilling experience of life.

Glossarium

  • Abundance Beyond Wealth: The concept that true abundance lies in non-monetary forms of wealth, such as experiences, relationships, and creativity.
  • Cosmic Tapestry of Existence: The interconnectedness and collective beauty of all life experiences and forms of existence.

“Abundance is not something we acquire. It is something we tune into.” – Wayne Dyer

In the dance of the stars
We find our true wealth
Not in coins or in gold
But in our very health

In relationships, knowledge
In love and in art
We discover abundance
In the depths of our heart

Beyond the material
In the cosmic flow
We find riches uncounted
In the seeds that we sow

In laughter, in tears
In moments so dear
We embrace abundance
In all that we revere
