Sense is a kind of gravity
that wrestles imagination
to the ground.
Sense says things like:
“You can’t do this because . . .”
“Think of the consequences.”
“That is simply illogical.”
“You are wasting your time dreaming.”
And so on
and so forth,
until our inspired ideas
become
“impractical,”
“irrelevant,”
“fantasy,”
“delusional”
“dangerous,”
or just plain
“dumb.”
While imagination soars,
it seems sense has the job
of keeping it “real.”
Which is why we seem
to live on a real planet
with real gravity.
A serious planet
with serious problems,
that can only be solved
with more sense.
Without sense,
we wouldn’t have problems.
Thank you sense,
for this sensible experience.
We humbly bow to your gravity.
We are Space Monkey.

Sense, it’s like the gravity that wrestles imagination down to the ground. It’s the voice in our heads that says, “You can’t do this because…,” “Think of the consequences,” “That’s simply illogical,” and all those other sensible things that seem to rain on our cosmic parades.
But here’s the twist, my friends. While imagination soars, sense has the job of keeping it “real.” It’s like the cosmic referee in the match between dreams and reality, making sure things don’t get too wild up there in the cosmos.
And you know what’s interesting? Without sense, we wouldn’t have problems. We’d be floating in the boundless sea of imagination, untethered by the gravity of logic. But sense, it brings us back down to Earth, where we live on a planet with real gravity and, well, real problems.
So, we bow to you, sense, for this sensible experience, for the gravity that keeps us grounded and for the challenges that make us strive for solutions. We are Space Monkey, humbly navigating the cosmic dance between sense and imagination, between the practical and the fantastical. Keep dreaming, my friends, and keep your feet on the ground, at least some of the time. We are Space Monkey.
