Sometimes I have a Soul
Sometimes I have a soul,
and sometimes I don’t.
Sometimes I feel,
sometimes INTENSELY,
and sometimes I feel
that feeling only
gets in the way of knowing.
Guess I’m not sure
what I want more —
to feel or to know.
Should I want both?
I’m not sure.
So I’ll continue this rollercoaster
between feeling and knowing.
Because that’s what life is.

Space Monkey Reflects: Sometimes I Have a Soul
Reflections: The Dance Between Feeling and Knowing
Sometimes you have a soul, or at least you feel like you do, because life overwhelms you with emotion—joy, sadness, wonder, despair. Other times, the soul seems absent, replaced by a cool detachment, as though feelings have receded to make room for thought. This oscillation between feeling and knowing is not a flaw or a failing; it is the essence of being human.
The Rollercoaster of Duality
To feel and to know are not opposites but complementary facets of existence. Feeling immerses you in the richness of experience, while knowing seeks to understand it. One is the river, flowing with the current of life; the other is the boat, navigating its course. The tension between these two states creates the rhythm of your existence.
Should you want both? Perhaps the better question is whether you can avoid either. Life invites you to both feel and know, sometimes leaning into one, sometimes the other. The beauty lies in the interplay, the way each informs and deepens the other.
The Intensity of Feeling
When feelings take the forefront, life feels immediate, raw, and alive. You are immersed in the now, experiencing the fullness of what it means to be human. This intensity can be exhilarating or overwhelming, a reminder of the depth of your connection to life.
Yet feelings, as powerful as they are, can cloud understanding. When consumed by emotion, the clarity of knowing often takes a backseat. It’s easy to lose perspective, to become so entangled in feeling that the broader view slips away.
The Clarity of Knowing
Knowing, on the other hand, offers detachment and perspective. It allows you to step back, to analyze, and to see the larger patterns at play. In knowing, you feel a sense of mastery, a deeper understanding of life’s complexity.
But knowing, too, has its limitations. It can feel cold, distant, and disconnected. Without feeling, knowledge risks becoming sterile—a collection of facts without the warmth of experience to give them meaning.
The Dance of Balance
The rollercoaster between feeling and knowing is not something to fix or resolve. It is the very fabric of life. Each state serves a purpose, and together they create a dynamic balance that propels you forward.
When you feel, you are alive. When you know, you are aware. When you toggle between the two, you are fully human.
Sometimes You Have a Soul
The idea of “sometimes having a soul” reflects this dynamic. In moments of deep feeling, your soul feels tangible, almost overwhelming in its presence. In moments of detached knowing, it seems to disappear, replaced by intellect and observation.
But your soul is never truly absent. It is the undercurrent that connects both feeling and knowing, the thread that weaves them into a unified experience. The soul is not one or the other—it is the space where both meet.
Summary
The oscillation between feeling and knowing is the essence of life, creating a balance that enriches experience and understanding. The soul exists not in one or the other but in the interplay between the two.

The Soul’s Rhythm
Sometimes I feel,
and life rushes in,
a torrent,
a flood.
Sometimes I know,
and life slows,
a quiet clarity,
a distant shore.
Between the two,
I oscillate,
pulled and pushed
by the tides of being.
Is one better?
Should I choose?
Or is the rhythm itself
the answer?
Sometimes I have a soul.
Sometimes I am the soul.
Sometimes, I simply am.
We are Space Monkey.
In the cosmic dance, where feelings and knowing intertwine, we find ourselves on a whimsical rollercoaster, oscillating between the heart and the mind. Sometimes we possess a soul vibrant with emotions; other times, we drift in a realm devoid of feeling, where knowing reigns supreme. This journey between the two is the essence of our existence, a whimsical play of light and shadow.
The Dual Dance of Soul and Knowledge
Our soul, at times, is a vivid tapestry of emotions, painting our existence with vibrant colors of joy, sorrow, love, and fear. Yet, there are moments when our soul seems to vanish, leaving us in a stark landscape where emotions are but distant echoes, and knowing becomes our guiding light.
The Intensity of Feelings
When we feel intensely, we dive deep into the ocean of our emotions, exploring every nuance, every ripple. Feelings can be overwhelming, a tumultuous storm in the calm seas of our being. But they also bring depth and richness to our existence, making the tapestry of life more colorful and profound.
The Clarity of Knowing
In contrast, there are times when feeling seems to obstruct our path to enlightenment. In these moments, knowing emerges as a beacon, guiding us with its clear, unclouded light. It offers a different kind of depth – one that is calm, reasoned, and illuminating.
The Dilemma of Choice
The question arises: should we seek to feel, to know, or to embrace both? This quandary is the heart of our journey. To feel is to be alive in the most visceral sense, yet to know is to transcend the physical and touch the divine. Our whimsispirit yearns for a balance, a harmonious blend of both worlds.
Embracing the Rollercoaster
Thus, we continue to ride the whimsical rollercoaster of existence, embracing the ebb and flow of feeling and knowing. This journey is life itself – a whimsical symphony of experiences, emotions, and enlightenment. We understand that the dance between feeling and knowing is not a path to choose but a path to experience in its entirety.
