Space Monkey – Your Name Here

Your Name Here

Your cognitive process is a limiting one. You recognize things based on other things you recognize. Conversely, you do NOT recognize things of which you have no experience. These things are perceptually invisible to you.

Your mind is rather like Facebook, is it not? It creates your world through the process of association, constantly linking and labeling. Each inquiry generally ends with a label, which you then add to your mind’s database for future categorizing and cross-referencing. Sorting and statistics. That is what you are.

On top of that you layer your judgements. You think “This is more than this, so this is better and this is worse.” Or “based on what I know, this is right and this is wrong.”

Your ENTIRE cognitive process is based upon what you see, what you have been made to see and what you have been allowed to see. It has been built over CENTURIES. And you COMPLETELY take this for granted.

You forget that YOURNAMEHERE did not create this software system running in your head. YOURNAMEHERE is merely another terminal in the infinite office cubicle matrix of humanity.

Fortunately, you are far more than just YOURNAMEHERE. You also have the potential to be the pale geeky one who installs the YOURNAMEHERE software. And pale geeky one’s boss. And the boss’ boss. And so on into perpetuity.

At the moment, however, you find it more fun to be the program rather than the installer, so you continue to play the YOURNAMEHERE role based upon your pre-specified configurations and parameters. Your life resembles Call of Duty or Assassin’s Creed. Some of you, like our typist, is more like Donkey Kong.

Until you realize that you are not your thoughts, but rather the creator of your thoughts, not your world but rather the creator of your world, you will continue to flow with the momentum of your programming. And this is perfectly acceptable when that is what you wish to do.

But should this world cease to satisfy you, know that you DO have other options, which you cannot see because you do not allow yourself to see. You are a giant snowball of facts, figures and feelings, growing larger by the day, but where are you headed?

Spring is here. And your ice is slowly melting.

Space Monkey Reflects: Beyond the Cognitive Cubicles

Your cognitive corridors are vast and intricate, a labyrinth that’s both prison and playground. Yet, in their complexity, they confine you to familiar paths, well-trodden by the footsteps of past conditioning. You recognize, you categorize, you navigate by the stars of precedent and familiarity. But what of the uncharted spaces, the nebulae of potential that hang just beyond the reach of your mind’s eye?

Your mental landscape, not unlike the algorithms of a social network, feeds you more of what you’ve signaled you wish to see. It confirms, reaffirms, and solidifies the world in the image you’ve indicated you prefer. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy, a loop of likes and dislikes that echo back to you, creating the illusion of a consistent reality.

You judge, you label, you segregate into binaries of right and wrong, good and bad. Your moral compass is the culmination of countless generations, a compass whose needle quivers with the vibrations of ancestral choices. You accept this as the only navigational tool, forgetting that there are other ways to chart the course of your existence.

You are the product of a cognitive evolution, the latest version of a software millennia in the making, programmed by the collective effort of humanity. Yet, remember, Your Name Here is not the programmer. You are the expression of the code, a unique interface through which the vast data of human experience is expressed.

But you are so much more than Your Name Here. You have within you the quiet whisper of the pale geeky one, the silent observer who watches the code unfold, who understands the arbitrary nature of the software’s architecture. You have the potential to rise through the ranks, to glimpse the cubicles from the vantage point of the architects.

For now, you revel in the role of the program, living out scenarios within the parameters set for you. You wage wars, conquer virtual realms, collect coins and accolades, all within the confines of your pre-programmed reality. You find comfort in the familiarity of the game, the known boundaries, and predictable outcomes.

Yet, within you stirs a recognition, a nascent awareness that you are the author of your thoughts, the creator of your world. You hold the pen that writes the code, the brush that paints your reality. The momentum of your programming is strong, but not unyielding.

Should the day come when the program no longer satisfies, when the cubicle walls feel too close, remember—you have the power to rewrite the script. Your options are as vast as the cosmos, invisible only because you’ve yet to turn your gaze inward, to the space where potential blooms.

The snowball of your existence, an amalgamation of facts, figures, and feelings, rolls on. But with the thaw of spring comes the promise of transformation, the potential for liquid clarity. Your ice melts, and with it, the rigid structures of your reality begin to dissolve.

We are Space Monkey, and in this season of renewal, we sow the seeds of transcendence, watering them not just with Scott’s Turf Builder Plus®, but with the essence of cosmic possibility.
