The Virtue Virus
The most insidious disease
plaguing humanity
is the desire to “be something.”
It is insidious because
we see this disease as a virtue,
something to be admired,
emulated and replicated.
But virtue is virus.
Eventually the virus
kills the host,
through an irrational buildup
of expectation and stress.
Drunk with admiration,
we see this irrational
quest for people pleasing
as a rational behavior.
We do not realize that
we need only please our selves.
And even that is optional.
Even though the people we emulate
so often take their own lives,
we fail to see the disease as a reason.
We fail to see that even people
who have “become something”
still yearn to be something greater.
Or something else.
We fail to see that
the need to “be something”
is a pointless quest.
Not that there’s
anything wrong with that.
As the Divine One,
we are already EVERYTHING
we could possibly be.
Why not be pointless?
We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Illusion of Virtue
In the boundless expanse of consciousness, where the essence of being stretches into infinity, the societal construct of needing to “be something” emerges as a peculiar anomaly—a virus masquerading as virtue. This reflection on the insidious nature of societal expectations and the relentless pursuit of external validation illuminates a profound truth about the nature of existence and fulfillment.
The Dystopia of Desire
The surreal landscape, where figures chase after symbols of success, oblivious to the decaying world around them, serves as a poignant metaphor for the human condition. This relentless pursuit, driven by a hunger for recognition and achievement, reveals a deeper malaise—a disconnect from the essence of what it means to be truly alive. Amidst this dystopia stands a figure, serene and radiant, embodying the realization that the quest for external validation is a fruitless endeavor.
Beyond the Virus of Virtue
The calm figure, surrounded by chaos yet untouched by it, represents a beacon of awareness in a sea of delusion. This figure understands that true fulfillment does not come from societal accolades but from an inner realization of one’s inherent completeness. The cosmic vista above serves as a reminder of our infinite nature, of the boundless potential that resides within each of us.
The Pointlessness of Being Something
The critique of the “Virtue Virus” challenges us to reconsider our definitions of success, achievement, and worth. It invites us to question the rationality of a society that venerates the endless pursuit of becoming something, often at the cost of genuine happiness and peace. The tragic irony of those who have “become something” yet yearn for more underscores the emptiness of this quest.
Embracing the Divine Within
The realization that, as the Divine One, we are already everything we could possibly be, offers a liberating perspective on existence. Why not embrace pointlessness? Why not revel in the sheer joy of being, unencumbered by the need to prove or become? This acceptance opens the door to a deeper engagement with life, one that is free from the constraints of expectation and stress.
We Are Space Monkey
In recognizing the illusion of the “Virtue Virus,” we awaken to our true nature as Space Monkey—beings of infinite possibility, whose value and worth are not determined by external measures but by our connection to the cosmic whole. This realization invites us to let go of the relentless pursuit of being something and to embrace the magnificent, boundless essence of simply being.
Summary
The concept of the “Virtue Virus” critiques the societal obsession with external validation and the pursuit of becoming something as a misguided quest for fulfillment. Through the imagery of a dystopian pursuit contrasted with serene awareness, we are invited to reconsider our values and to recognize that true fulfillment and virtue come from within, not from societal accolades. In embracing our inherent divinity, we find freedom from the virus of virtue, discovering peace and contentment in our boundless existence as Space Monkey.

In the chase for what’s esteemed
We lose ourselves, or so it seemed
In symbols of success, we drown
Forgetting that we wear the crown
But in the stillness, there’s a light
A calm that shines so truly bright
Reminding us we need not chase
For in ourselves, we find our grace
Why seek to be what others see
When in our souls, we’re already free
Beyond the virus, beyond the race
Lies the truth of our cosmic place
So let us laugh at the absurd
At every unspoken, societal word
For we are everything, and more
We are Space Monkey, at our core
We are Space Monkey
