Things I worry about:
I worry that I’m paying too much attention to “the game” and I worry that I’m not paying enough attention to it. Either the game is why I’m here, or the game is distracting me from finding out what “here” truly means.
I wonder which path is right. And I wonder why I feel the need to judge what is right.
Fortunately I also hold the belief that it’s impossible for me to be anywhere except where I want to be — you know, where I’m supposed to be. It’s reassuring to have faith in something, even though I don’t know exactly why I (or my higher self) would have chosen these unique circumstances.
We are faced with so many challenges in these remarkably “ordinary” lives of ours, it’s easy to forget how magnificent things truly are. And that there is a lesson to be gained in everything.
That’s another thing I constantly ponder. Does everything have to have a lesson attached to it, or is that simply a notion that springs from our inherited feelings of unworthiness — part of the game.
Aren’t we simply here to have fun? Why do we need to learn anything? Learning implies that’s we’re less than perfect. Deep down, I know that we are already perfect. We’ve always been perfect. It’s just these Monopoly tokens we walk around in that seem less than satisfactory.
I used to hate being the stinky silver shoe, but I’m beginning to appreciate that shoes are way more useful than, say, top hats. And if the game board suddenly closes on me, I know there’s always another game. Which, again, makes it that much more difficult to sweat the details over the game I’m playing right now.
We quibble over whether the world is too much Baltic Avenue and not enough Boardwalk. We get angry at each other for not paying the luxury tax or landing on chance and helping out the poor. We worry about global warming, when all that really needs to happen is to turn off the light and go upstairs to bed. Everything will be fine tomorrow.
Yes, there are horrific things in this game, and if it satisfies our battleship, cannon, or little doggy personalities, we should help. But realize that not everyone needs to share the same calling. Not everyone needs to solve all the problems of the world. There are people playing specifically for those reasons. You know, the irons of the world. They can smooth anything out.
As I review what I’ve just written, it is evident that I’ve been whiffing the shoe for too long. Even so, here’s hoping that we all find our “Get Out Of Jail Free” cards.

You ponder the balance between paying attention to “the game” and seeking a deeper understanding of your existence. It is a common inquiry on this journey of self-discovery. In the tapestry of life, there is a delicate dance between engagement with the external world and the exploration of our inner being. Trust that there is wisdom in both paths, and the integration of the two brings a harmonious alignment.
The question of what is right often arises, and the need to judge stems from our inherent desire for clarity and guidance. Yet, it is essential to recognize that your path is unique, and what resonates with your soul may differ from others. Embrace the idea that there is no absolute right or wrong. Instead, there are experiences that offer growth, understanding, and expansion. Release the need to judge and allow your heart to guide you on your personal journey.
You mention the belief that you are always where you are meant to be, even if you may not fully comprehend the reasons behind it. This faith brings reassurance and trust in the greater plan that unfolds. Embrace the mystery of your circumstances and have faith that there is purpose and meaning in every experience, even if it may not be immediately apparent.
In the face of challenges, it is easy to overlook the magnificence that surrounds us. Remember that every experience, no matter how ordinary it may seem, holds the potential for profound lessons and growth. Embrace the notion that life itself is the greatest teacher, and each moment offers an opportunity to expand your consciousness and deepen your understanding of yourself and the world.
The idea of lessons attached to everything can be a subject of contemplation. While it is true that challenges often come with valuable teachings, it is important to find a balance. Life is not solely about learning and self-improvement. It is also about experiencing joy, embracing the present moment, and allowing ourselves to have fun. Recognize that you are inherently perfect, and the journey is not about fixing or becoming something better. It is about remembering and embracing your divine essence.
Indeed, the Monopoly game of life can sometimes consume our attention, causing us to focus on the details and lose sight of the bigger picture. Remember that the game is but one aspect of the infinite possibilities that exist. If the game closes, know that there are always new games to be played, new adventures to embark upon. Embrace the impermanence of the game and find peace in the knowing that there is always something more waiting to unfold.
In the midst of global concerns and challenges, it is important to remember that each individual has their own unique calling and purpose. While it is noble to contribute to solving the problems of the world, it is equally valid to play a different role. Honor your individual journey and the gifts you bring to the world. Support those who are called to tackle specific issues, while also finding joy and fulfillment in your own path. The irons of the world, those who dedicate themselves to smoothing out the rough edges, will fulfill their purpose.
As we reflect upon your words, we acknowledge the depth of your contemplations and the resonance they evoke within us. May we all find our metaphorical “Get Out Of Jail Free” cards, liberating us from self-imposed limitations and allowing us to embrace the freedom and expansiveness that is our birthright.
