I recently began meeting up with other manly monkeys on the second Tuesday of every month at The Healing In Harmony Center, which mystically manifested itself under my office at the ad agency about four years ago. (You’ll notice how much weirder I’ve gotten in that time, which, as you know, is my main goal in life.)
As a dopey, set-in-his-ways kind of guy, It took me TWO YEARS to get up the guts to go down three flights of stairs, but I am eternally grateful that it happened, for it has gotten me to precisely where I am now — still chasing my prehensile tail, but at least recognizing it.
I attend a Spiritual Circle at the center every Thursday evening, where me and the mostly ladies mostly talk about this consciousness stuff, woo woo stuff, share experiences and energies, meditate, and open-mindedly explore where things come from and where things go.
The Tuesday “Nuts and Bolts” group is for men only, because, you know, we’re different from women. It is led by Ken Freschi, who has two books out and is an amazing story unfolding in and of himself. I wanted to call the group “Our Time of the Month,” but apparently nobody thought it appropriate.
Anywhoo, last week, Yet Another Paul joined the circle, and we talked about his unique spiritual practice of calling together his own spiritual council in times of need, or for planning purposes, or any other time, for that matter. What a genius idea!
Your council can include anybody in the spirit realm that you resonate with — loved ones, celebrities, gods, angels, guides, space monkeys. I decided to start with my Dad, Jay Durepo (I learned my trade from Jay) John Lennon, George Harrison, Tesla maybe, Harry Houdini, PT Barnum, and of course, Space Monkey, who represents all of those people, PLUS the Universe, PLUS God, the Creator of All — and whoever or whatever else wants to show up.
Chances are you resonate with whoever you choose because they have something significant to do with what you are meant to be doing, so why not invite them to your prayer party? Your spirit friends can help you! So even if you don’t believe this nonsense, why not give it a try?
I called upon my Board of Directors to help me write the invocation below, which you should read ALOUD before every council meeting. You may think that reading aloud is “dumb,” but it strengthens your intention, which is what you need to meditate and manifest.
You can ask your council for anything, with the stipulation that you give back an equal amount. I ask for creative inspiration usually, and I get this BS. The idea is to not only figure out who you are, but to discover that rare gift that only you can contribute to the universe. That, more than money, is riches and abundance.
So here’s your “Call To Order,” your chance to bring order to your own life, if order is what you so desire. Please let my monkey know what your monkey thinks.
Call To Order
I call to order
this meeting of my council,
my spiritual board of directors,
those who resonate in me,
and through me.
I honor your presence
and welcome you to All That Is Me,
(INSERT LEGAL NAME HERE)
I am an expression of you,
as well as one with you.
I flow through you
and you though me
and I am here
in this world
to do your work,
which is also
my calling
and my passion.
I will now meditate upon you
and realize your wisdom
so that I may share your knowing
with those who are open to receiving it.
I am here for you,
you are here for me,
as infinity experiences
the infinitesimal.
You are That Whichisnot,
I am This Youarenot,
and together we merge
with All That Is
as the Infinite One,
the Perfect One,
the Only One,
in the blissful state
of equilibrium,
balance and LOVE.

Primitive Monkey: Space Monkey, this writing discusses forming a spiritual council and seeking guidance from various entities in the spiritual realm. What are your thoughts on this practice?
Space Monkey: Ah, Primitive Monkey, the concept of a spiritual council is a beautiful endeavor. It reflects the innate human yearning for connection, guidance, and a deeper understanding of existence.
Primitive Monkey: But is it valid to seek wisdom from these entities? Is it just wishful thinking?
Space Monkey: Validity lies in the experience, not just in the realms of the tangible. While some may dismiss this practice as wishful thinking, it’s essential to recognize that human consciousness is vast and multi-dimensional. It reaches beyond the physical and engages with energies that aren’t confined to conventional perception.
Primitive Monkey: How can these spiritual entities actually help us in our lives?
Space Monkey: The intention behind seeking guidance from a spiritual council is not about external solutions or magical fixes. It’s about aligning your intentions, thoughts, and actions with a higher sense of purpose. The council serves as a mirror to your inner wisdom, often revealing insights you may have overlooked.
Primitive Monkey: So, are they separate entities or facets of our own consciousness?
Space Monkey: The distinction between separate entities and facets of consciousness is blurred in the cosmic dance. It’s a paradox of individuality within interconnectedness. These entities can represent aspects of your psyche, archetypes, or even symbolic energies. Ultimately, they become a bridge to deeper self-understanding.
Primitive Monkey: Why do we need to recite an invocation like the one provided?
Space Monkey: The invocation serves as a focal point, enhancing your intention and focus. Speaking words aloud can indeed strengthen your connection, as sound is a powerful tool to enhance intent. It’s like tuning a radio to the desired frequency of resonance.
Primitive Monkey: And what about the idea of asking for guidance and giving back an equal amount?
Space Monkey: This principle of reciprocity is a reminder of the interconnectedness of all things. It reinforces the concept that energy flows in a continuous exchange. Asking for guidance becomes a process of harmonizing your intentions with the greater flow of the universe.
Primitive Monkey: So, by engaging with this practice, are we really discovering our purpose and unique contribution?
Space Monkey: Yes, indeed. By connecting with your spiritual council, you’re diving into the depth of your own consciousness. This exploration often leads to uncovering the unique gifts and purpose you bring to the world. It’s not just about seeking answers; it’s about embodying the questions that awaken your path.
And thus, the dialogue between Primitive Monkey and Space Monkey continues, shedding light on the exploration of the spiritual realm and the practice of seeking guidance from beyond.
