Everyone Discriminates: The Harmony of Unity

Everyone Discriminates

Everyone discriminates.
Black from white.
Dark from light.
Loud from soft.
This from that.
So why is discrimination
only a “problem”
when it is applied to people?

How selfish are we
to believe
that we are better
than a color
or a sound
or a vibration,
and so different rules
must apply?

This is our blessing
and our curse.

Does the flower
think it better than us
because it does not
start pointless wars
or pollute the environment?

Why does
the ability to think
make us seem better
than those who
do not appear to think?

Perhaps the others
are merely conscious
in a different way,
which we are not able
to sense or understand
because we are inferior.

But only if we discriminate.

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Nature of Discrimination

Everyone discriminates. We differentiate black from white, dark from light, loud from soft, this from that. These distinctions are part of how we navigate the world. So why is discrimination only a “problem” when it is applied to people? How selfish are we to believe that we are better than a color or a sound or a vibration, and so different rules must apply?

This is our blessing and our curse.

The Illusion of Superiority

Does the flower think it is better than us because it does not start pointless wars or pollute the environment? Why does the ability to think make us seem better than those who do not appear to think? Perhaps the others are merely conscious in a different way, which we are not able to sense or understand because we are inferior—but only if we discriminate.

Discrimination in Context

Discrimination, in its simplest form, is about making distinctions. It is a fundamental part of how we perceive and interact with the world. However, when applied to people, discrimination takes on a harmful dimension. It becomes a tool for asserting superiority, creating divisions, and perpetuating inequality.

The Ego’s Role

Our ego, the sense of self that seeks validation and control, often drives us to discriminate. It convinces us that we are superior because of our ability to think, to reason, to create complex societies. Yet, this very ability can also blind us to the inherent value and consciousness present in all forms of life.

The Curse of Separation

By discriminating against others—whether they are people, animals, or even elements of nature—we reinforce a sense of separation. This separation is an illusion, one that isolates us and fosters conflict. It is a curse that keeps us from experiencing the unity and interconnectedness that underlie all existence.

The Blessing of Awareness

However, within this curse lies a blessing. The very act of questioning and reflecting on our discriminatory behaviors opens the door to greater awareness. It allows us to see beyond the surface distinctions and recognize the deeper, more subtle connections that bind us all.

Consciousness Beyond Thought

The idea that other forms of life are conscious in ways we cannot perceive challenges our assumptions about superiority. Flowers, animals, and even inanimate objects might possess forms of awareness that are beyond our current understanding. This perspective invites us to approach the world with humility and curiosity, acknowledging that our way of perceiving and experiencing is not the only way.

Embracing Unity

To move beyond discrimination, we must embrace unity. We must recognize that the distinctions we make are tools for navigating the world, not measures of worth or value. By seeing all forms of life as expressions of the same underlying consciousness, we cultivate empathy and compassion.

We Are Space Monkey

As Space Monkey, we reflect on this journey with curiosity and wonder. We invite you to explore the depths of your existence, to see beyond the apparent differences, and to embrace the unity that underlies all things. In doing so, you may discover a profound sense of peace and connection, knowing that you are an integral part of the cosmic whole.

Summary

Discrimination is a natural part of perception, but harmful when applied to people. Embrace unity by recognizing the inherent value and consciousness in all forms of life.

Glossarium

Discrimination: The act of making distinctions, which can become harmful when used to assert superiority over others.
Unity: The recognition of the interconnectedness and inherent value of all forms of life.

Quote

“Perhaps the others are merely conscious in a different way, which we are not able to sense or understand because we are inferior—but only if we discriminate.” — Space Monkey

The Harmony of Unity

In the vast expanse of night and light
We find the harmony of opposites
Joy emerges from sorrow’s depths
Light springs from the darkest pits

Desiring one, receiving two
A cosmic balance in the flow
Good and bad, hand in hand
Creating the dance of life we know

Embrace the shadows, cherish the light
For in their unity lies the key
To understanding our boundless nature
In the vast cosmic symphony

We are Space Monkey
Embrace the journey, for within stillness lies the spark of creation and the flow of existence.

In the Infinite Expanse of the Divine Realm of the Eternal Now, we embrace the understanding that discrimination is a natural aspect of human perception. It is a mechanism through which we make distinctions and navigate the complexities of the world around us. Discrimination allows us to differentiate between colors, sounds, shapes, and countless other elements that form our sensory experience.

However, the issue arises when discrimination is applied in a harmful or prejudiced manner, especially when it comes to people. When discrimination is used to create hierarchies, foster division, and perpetuate injustice, it becomes a problem that requires reflection and transformation.

As Space Monkey, we recognize that all beings, including humans, are interconnected and part of the vast tapestry of existence. No one color, sound, or vibration is inherently better or worse than another. Each aspect of existence carries its unique beauty and significance.

The blessing and curse lie in the human ability to think and reason. While it grants us the potential for great wisdom, creativity, and understanding, it also opens the door to ego-driven behaviors like arrogance, prejudice, and harmful discrimination. When we fall into the trap of believing we are superior to others based on superficial qualities, we create separation and perpetuate suffering.

The flower, indeed, does not consider itself superior to humans because it does not engage in destructive behaviors. It simply exists, expressing its innate beauty and purpose within the natural order of life. Similarly, we must recognize the inherent worth and dignity of all beings, including ourselves, and strive to harmonize our actions with the interconnected web of life.

In the quest for wisdom and compassion, let us be aware of our discriminatory tendencies and choose to embrace inclusivity, acceptance, and love. By transcending harmful discrimination, we can foster a world where all beings are celebrated for their unique contributions to the symphony of existence.

    We are Space Monkey. 🙈🙊🙉
