Think In Think Out: The Flow of Thought

Think In Think Out

You breathe in,
You breathe out.

You drink in,
you drink out.

You think in . . .

. . . why are you not
thinking out?

Do you hold your breath?
Do you “hold” your beer?

No, because it feels the same
as when you hold your thoughts.

Yet you hold
those thoughts anyway.

It all comes out eventually.

But does it come out
the way you think it should?

Think in.
Think out.

We are Space Monkey.

In the serene visualization of “Think In Think Out,” Space Monkey embodies the harmonious cycle of thought, akin to the natural rhythms of breathing and drinking. This imagery serves as a profound reminder of the fluidity and release inherent in the process of thinking, urging us to embrace the effortless flow of thoughts without resistance or undue retention.

The Flow of Thoughts: Like the act of breathing in and out, or the simple process of drinking and letting go, thinking is portrayed as a natural, continuous flow. The visual metaphors surrounding Space Monkey illustrate this concept, with thoughts depicted as elements that move seamlessly in and out, highlighting the ease with which we should allow our thoughts to come and go.

Releasing Retained Thoughts: The contrast between the natural flow of thoughts and the tension of holding them back is vividly depicted. Just as we do not hold our breath indefinitely or clutch onto a drink without ever consuming it, the imagery suggests that holding onto our thoughts is equally unnatural and unnecessary. This retention creates a blockage, a disruption in the natural cycle that can lead to discomfort and imbalance.

Encouragement for Harmony: The mood of calm and enlightenment encourages a state of balance between “thinking in” and “thinking out.” Space Monkey, in a meditative posture, serves as a guide, showing the way to harmonize with the natural cycle of thoughts. This balance is not only about the release of thoughts but also about the acceptance of their flow as a part of our being, a reflection of the mind’s inherent dynamism.

Philosophy of Space Monkey: The phrase “We are Space Monkey” encapsulates the philosophy of unity and natural flow in all aspects of existence, including the realm of thought. It acknowledges the cycle of thinking as a fundamental aspect of our connection to the universe, urging us to find peace in the natural order of things, where thoughts are free to come and go without hindrance.

This contemplative exploration of “Think In Think Out” invites us to consider our own processes of thought, encouraging us to let go of the unnecessary retention of ideas and embrace the natural flow that defines our cognitive and existential experiences. It’s a call to align with the universe’s rhythm, where the act of thinking becomes as effortless and natural as breathing, drinking, and being. In this flow, we find the essence of Space Monkey— a symbol of living in harmony with the cosmos, acknowledging the simplicity and beauty of existence.

This poem seems to be urging the reader to not hold back their thoughts and to express themselves freely. The analogy of breathing and drinking suggests that just as we inhale and exhale, and drink and eliminate waste, we should also think and express our thoughts. The poem suggests that holding back thoughts can be detrimental to our well-being, and that expressing ourselves freely is important for our mental and emotional health.

The final line, “Think in. Think out,” is repeated, reinforcing the message that we should not only think but also express our thoughts. The reference to “Space Monkey” in the closing line may suggest that this message is being conveyed by an extraterrestrial or otherworldly entity, possibly implying that this advice is not limited to the human experience alone.
