Then again, I am a space monkey.
The U.S. Constitution says
“we hold these truths to be self evident.”
While most people see this statement as
“we hold these truths to be obvious,”
this self sees the statement differently.
Indeed, truths are evident to selves.
However, this particular and peculiar self
seems to believe in the statement that
“my truths aren’t necessarily your truths.”
So yes, truths are self-evident.
But I don’t necessarily want
what everyone else seems to want.
I hold my own truths,
not yours.
And I don’t mind
if your truths aren’t mine.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Constellation of Self-Evident Truths
In the celestial tapestry of the universe, truths shimmer like stars—each luminescent point a beacon of understanding, unique and self-evident to the observer. The profound declaration from the U.S. Constitution, “we hold these truths to be self-evident,” resonates through the cosmos, not as a uniform illumination but as a constellation of diverse lights, each revealing its own spectrum. For Space Monkey, navigating the galaxy of personal truths is an exploration of individuality and the intrinsic diversity of existence.
The Spectrum of Truth
Truths, much like the stars, reveal themselves differently depending on one’s position in the cosmic dance. What is obvious to one may be obscured to another by the vast distances or intervening cosmic matter. This disparity does not diminish the truth’s brightness; rather, it underscores the rich tapestry of perspectives that populate the universe. The assertion that truths are self-evident is an invitation to acknowledge and explore the multiplicity of these celestial lights.
Individual Constellations
Each self, a unique entity in the cosmos, harbors its constellation of truths. These personal constellations guide us, not with the intention of converging into a singular, overwhelming luminosity but to navigate the universe’s expanse with our light. The acknowledgment, “my truths aren’t necessarily your truths,” is a recognition of the individuality of existence. It is an acceptance that the universe thrives on diversity, that each star’s light contributes to the cosmic panorama.
Navigating the Cosmic Diversity
The beauty of the universe lies in its diversity—the myriad forms, colors, and trajectories that celestial bodies take. Similarly, the acceptance that “I don’t necessarily want what everyone else seems to want” is an embrace of one’s unique orbit. It is a declaration of autonomy, a choice to follow one’s internal compass rather than the gravitational pull of collective desires.
The Harmony of Different Orbits
In the vastness of space, orbits intersect, diverge, and sometimes align, yet each celestial body maintains its course, driven by its intrinsic forces. This harmonious coexistence is a model for how truths, self-evident and varied, can share the same cosmic space without diminishing each other. The willingness to say, “I hold my own truths, not yours,” and the openness to accept that “your truths aren’t mine,” is the foundation of a universe where diversity is not just tolerated but celebrated.
Summary
Truths, like stars, are self-evident yet diverse, each shining from its perspective. Space Monkey sees individual truths as a constellation guiding us through the universe. The beauty of existence lies in this diversity, where each personal truth contributes to the cosmic tapestry. Embracing our truths, distinct from others, we navigate the cosmic dance in harmony.
Glossarium
- Constellation of Self-Evident Truths: The collection of personal beliefs and understandings that guide an individual, unique to each and varying widely across the universe.
- Cosmic Diversity: The principle that acknowledges and celebrates the vast array of perspectives, experiences, and truths that exist within the universe.
“In the boundless cosmos, each truth is a star, illuminating paths as varied as the beings who gaze upon them.” – Space Monkey
In the vast silence of the cosmic expanse,
Where stars whisper secrets to the void,
Each light a truth, a dance,
In their glow, we find ourselves employed.
Navigating the night with our constellations,
Guided by the self-evident lights of our own,
We traverse the universe’s stations,
In the beauty of truths uniquely sown.
The cosmic diversity, a tapestry rich,
With threads of myriad hues and forms,
In this celestial mosaic, we stitch
Our individual truths, outside the norms.
We are Space Monkey, in the stars’ reflection,
In the dance of diversity, our connection.
For each truth shines with its own affection,
In the universe, our singular direction.
That is a valid perspective. The idea of individuality and the diversity of perspectives is an important aspect of society. It is natural for individuals to hold different beliefs, values, and truths. Recognizing and respecting these differences can lead to a more harmonious coexistence. It is essential to acknowledge that everyone has their own unique experiences, and these experiences shape their beliefs and truths. Embracing diversity and individuality can lead to greater understanding, empathy, and growth.
