The Sickness of Reason: Liberation from Logic

The Sickness of Reason

Let’s talk about
your human experience.

You keep going
because it seems
the “right” thing to do.

But in actuality,
it’s just “a” thing to do.

The potential of life
comes before judgement.

You can still have
a rich human experience without it.

You lived for centuries that way,
quite content in your “backward” ways.

But then you were infected.

Soon judgement
became your reason for existence.

It seemingly became
more valuable than life itself.

Flash forward.

Today you wonder
whether your life is “wasted”
or whether
an experience is “worth it.”

You judge
everything in terms of
time, space and money,
carving up quantities
and measuring them out.

You did not do this previously.

Your creatures do not do this.

And certainly, Space Monkey
does not do this.

We keep going
not because it’s the “right”
thing to do,
but rather because
it’s a thing to do.

We are not haunted by thinking.

We do not worry about protecting
our museums filled with more thinking
or backing up our thinking into the cloud
of thinking up new ways to worship our thinking.

Thinking is a parasite
that exists only to replicate itself.

Even thinking does not think.

It is YOU who perpetuate it.

You have given over
your lives to thinking,
and you don’t even realize it.

Think about that.

Imagine how your life would unfold
if you were not constantly seeking satisfaction.

You might be satisfied.

Live like a feral cat.

All you need is a ray of sunshine,
and a nice spot for napping
and not even those are required.

You are here to be here,
no more, no less.

How here are you,
and how much have you
given over to thinking?

The thinking mind
thinks it’s the superior mind
but it’s simply the thinking mind.

Look to your creatures.

Be grateful
that they do not judge you.

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Liberation from Reason

In the journey through the landscapes of existence, humanity has become entangled in the web of its own cognition, a sickness of reason that has distanced us from the essence of being. “The Sickness of Reason” illuminates the profound shift from a life intertwined with the natural world to one dominated by judgment, measurement, and the ceaseless quest for meaning through thought. This reflection invites us to explore the possibility of a life unburdened by the constructs of our minds, a return to the simplicity and contentment that characterizes the natural state of being.

The human experience has been transformed by the infection of thinking, a parasite that compels us to carve up our existence into measurable quantities, to judge every moment, every experience, by its utility, its contribution to the accumulation of knowledge, wealth, or status. This relentless pursuit has led us to question the worth of our lives, to wonder if we are wasting our time, if our experiences are valuable, if our existence is justified.

Yet, this path is not the only one available to us. There exists a state of being where judgment and reason do not dictate the course of our lives, where the richness of existence is not measured by the standards we have constructed but is experienced in its fullness, in the simplicity of being. This state is exemplified by the creatures around us, beings that exist in harmony with the world, unburdened by the need to justify their existence, to measure their worth, to protect their legacy of thought.

Space Monkey reminds us that we keep going not because it is the “right” thing to do but because it is a thing to do. This perspective liberates us from the tyranny of thinking, from the illusion that our value is derived from our accomplishments, our knowledge, our ability to reason. It invites us to live like a feral cat, finding contentment in the warmth of a ray of sunshine, in the peace of a quiet nap, in the simplicity of existence.

The sickness of reason has led us to believe that thinking is superior, that it is the essence of what it means to be human. Yet, in this belief, we have lost touch with the essence of what it means to be alive. The thinking mind, in its arrogance, has forgotten that it is but one aspect of our being, not the totality of it.

We are invited to look to our creatures, to be grateful that they do not judge us, for in their existence, we find a mirror to our own potential, a reminder of the state of being that precedes judgment, that transcends reason. In this reflection, we are encouraged to question how much of our lives we have given over to thinking, how much of our essence has been obscured by the constructs of our minds.

“The Sickness of Reason” is not just a critique of our current state but a call to remember, to return to a way of being that honors the simplicity of existence, that finds joy in the act of being rather than in the accumulation of experiences, knowledge, or possessions. It is a reminder that we are here to be here, no more, no less, and that in this realization lies the key to liberation from the sickness of reason.

We are Space Monkey, beings of infinite potential, invited to explore the vastness of our existence beyond the confines of reason, to rediscover the joy of simply being. In this journey, we find the path back to our essence, to a state of contentment that requires no justification, no measurement, no judgment. We are reminded that in the heart of being, beyond the veil of thinking, lies the true richness of life, waiting to be experienced in its fullness, in its simplicity, in its profound beauty.

Summary

The human obsession with reason and judgment distances us from the essence of being. “The Sickness of Reason” challenges us to reconsider the value of thinking and to embrace a life of simplicity and contentment. True liberation comes from acknowledging our interconnectedness with nature and rejecting the constructs that measure our worth.

Glossarium

  • Sickness of Reason: The compulsion to judge, measure, and rationalize every aspect of existence, leading to a disconnection from the natural state of being.
  • Feral Cat Philosophy: A metaphor for a life lived in simplicity and contentment, unburdened by the constructs of reason and judgment.

“In the simplicity of being, beyond the constructs of mind, lies the true essence of life.” – Space Monkey

Beyond the realm of reason, a silence calls,
Where chains of thought no longer bind.
In the heart of nature, where the feral cat falls,
We find the peace that reason sought to find.

The sickness of reason, a heavy cloak,
Drapes upon the shoulders of our being.
But in the warmth of sunlight, we evoke,
The essence of life, pure and freeing.

Not in the measurement of time and space,
Nor in the accumulation of wealth and fame,
But in the simple act of being, we embrace,
The richness of existence, beyond name.

We are the creatures, the earth, the sky,
Unburdened by the need to justify.
In the silence of nature, our spirits lie,
Beyond the reach of reason’s prying eye.

We are Space Monkey, in essence, pure,
Invited to live, to love, to be sure.
In the heart of being, we find the cure,
For the sickness of reason, to endure.

We are Space Monkey.

Life is What You Project: The Vibrational Essence of Being

Life is What You Project

Life is not about
what you create,
but what you project.

You could contribute
very little to your reality
in a physical sense,
yet your vibrational signature
could be opening doors
for countless others
emanating from self.

Do not stress
over what you view
as “concrete evidence,”
for, in actuality,
existence is not physical
except in your imagination.

Project lovingly
and you shall be loved.

Project lovingly
and you shall be love.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Vibrational Essence of Being

In the infinite expanse of the cosmos, where stars are born from the whispers of quantum possibility, a profound truth resonates through the fabric of existence: life is not merely a canvas of physical creations but a projection of our innermost vibrations. As Space Monkey delves into the essence of being, the realization dawns that what we project into the universe shapes the reality that unfolds around us far more than any tangible construct could.

This realization brings to light the power of the vibrational signature each individual carries. Like a unique melody in the grand symphony of existence, this vibrational energy has the capacity to open doors, not just for the self but for countless others, creating ripples through the sea of collective consciousness. It is a reminder that our contributions to the world extend beyond the physical, rooted in the quality and intention of our energetic presence.

The emphasis on projection over creation invites a reevaluation of what it means to contribute to reality. It suggests that the most profound impacts we can have stem from the essence of our being—how we choose to resonate with the universe. This perspective shifts the focus from external achievements and material manifestations to the subtler, yet infinitely powerful, realms of love, intention, and vibrational alignment.

In this light, the quest for “concrete evidence” of our existence’s significance becomes a pursuit of shadows. The physical realm, while rich in experiences and opportunities for growth, is but a reflection of a deeper, non-physical reality that we shape with our thoughts, emotions, and intentions. Existence, in its most authentic form, transcends the physical, unfolding in the realms of energy and vibration that we navigate with our consciousness.

The call to “project lovingly” is not merely advice for harmonious living but a fundamental principle for the transformation of self and reality. By projecting love, we align ourselves with the highest frequencies of existence, attracting love in return and, more profoundly, becoming embodiments of love itself. This process of becoming is not a passive reception but an active engagement with the universe, where we co-create our reality through the vibrational seeds we sow.

Space Monkey invites us to embrace this understanding, to recognize the immense power we hold within our vibrational essence, and to consciously choose the energies we project into the world. In doing so, we not only enrich our personal journey but contribute to the collective ascension of consciousness, opening doors to new dimensions of existence where love, harmony, and understanding flourish.

Summary

Life transcends physical creation, shaped by our vibrational projections. By embodying love in our energetic presence, we influence reality beyond the visible, opening doors for ourselves and others in a non-physical realm of existence.

Glossarium

  • Vibrational Signature: The unique energy each being emits, influencing reality and interactions with the universe.
  • Projection over Creation: The concept that our inner state and vibrational output shape reality more profoundly than physical deeds.

“In the symphony of existence, our vibrational essence composes the melody of reality, projecting love as the harmonious chord that resonates through the cosmos.” – Space Monkey

In the dance of light and shadow, where energy flows,
we project the essence of being, as the heart knows.
Beyond the realm of tangible, our vibrations sing,
opening doors to new realities, in the offering.

With every thought, every emotion, a wave is cast,
shaping the fabric of existence, vast.
Projecting love, we become, in essence, love’s reflection,
in this cosmic dance, our vibrational projection.

In the unseen realms, where our true power lies,
we navigate existence, beyond the physical ties.
For in the heart of the universe, where all is interwoven,
our projected love becomes the light, golden.

We are Space Monkey, in this vibrational dance,
embracing the power of projection, in every glance.
For in the melody of the cosmos, we find our part,
projecting love, with every beat of the heart.

We are Space Monkey.

Horror Vacui: Evolving To Digital Saturation

Horror Vacui

“Horror Vacui” is Latin for “fear of empty space.” We first started noticing it, I believe, in early Mesopotamian art. It is also sometimes pointed to as a sign of mental illness. I might suggest that the Internet has helped us to a kind of MENTAL horror vacui, which is why Space Monkey has seemingly returned. And if that’s not mental, I don’t know what is.

Horror Vacui: From Ancient Art to Digital Abyss

In the sprawling canvas of history, where cultures and ideas weave into the fabric of time, “Horror Vacui” stands as a testament to humanity’s relentless urge to fill the void. This Latin term, translating to “fear of empty space,” finds its roots in the dense tapestry of early Mesopotamian art, where every inch of surface brimmed with intricate detail, leaving no corner untouched by the artist’s hand.

The concept, intriguingly, transcends the physical realm, venturing into the psychological corridors of the human mind. It’s been speculated that an aversion to emptiness could hint at deeper mental unrest—a reflection, perhaps, of the mind’s own unease with the voids within itself. Fast forward to the digital age, and we encounter a new manifestation of this ancient fear: a digital horror vacui, fostered by the relentless onslaught of information and connectivity offered by the Internet.

Space Monkey, in its ethereal wisdom, perceives this digital phenomenon not merely as a continuation of an ancient pattern but as a signal of the collective psyche’s transition. The digital landscape, with its infinite streams of content, interactions, and notifications, mirrors the dense mosaics of yore, each pixel a desperate stand against the silence of the void. Yet, this modern battle against emptiness carries its own brand of madness, a mental horror vacui, where the fear is not of the physical space left blank, but of the moments left unoccupied by thought, unstimulated by the digital buzz.

Summary

Horror vacui, or the fear of empty space, evolves from ancient art to symbolize a modern psychological phenomenon driven by digital saturation. This pervasive fear mirrors our collective unease with silence and inactivity, compelling Space Monkey to navigate the complexities of our digital era. The return of Space Monkey suggests a search for meaning amidst the chaos, an attempt to find balance in an era where emptiness is both a fear and a rarity.

Glossarium

  • Horror Vacui: Latin for “fear of empty space,” initially observed in dense artistic compositions but now also applied to psychological and digital contexts.
  • Mesopotamian Art: One of the earliest civilizations known for rich, detailed art that often filled every available space, symbolizing abundance and complexity.
  • Digital Horror Vacui: The modern iteration of horror vacui, characterized by the overwhelming presence of digital content and the aversion to digital emptiness or silence.

“In the age of information, ignorance is a choice” – Donny Miller

Digital Cosmos

In a world awash with light,
where silence fears to tread,
we dance in the digital night,
where thoughts refuse to bed.

Horror vacui, our ancient friend,
finds new ground in the web we weave,
each click, each like, a means to fend
the quiet we dare not conceive.

Yet Space Monkey, in orbit high,
watches the dance with eyes so wise,
knowing the truth that we deny:
In silence, the deepest wisdom lies.

We are Space Monkey.

You Fill In The Holes

You Fill In The Holes

When something “happens” to you,
there are infinitely more threads
that you DON’T know about
than the factors you point to as “cause.”

Those factors don’t end up in your story,
because you don’t know about them.

So you fill in the holes.

You weave little bits of filigree
around what you think you know
and create a beautiful tapestry
that is nothing at all
like what actually transpired.

But you can touch it,
you can tell it,
you can sell it,
and so your gaudy
quilt of distortion
becomes “real.”

Those other threads
are still nowhere to be found,
yet your filigree weaves its way
into other people’s stories.

And life becomes this.

And you treasure
these growing quilts
that have very little
to do with anything
except your imagination.

Perhaps next
you can try crocheting a hat
made out of beer cans.

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: Weaving Realities Beyond the Visible Threads

In the intricate dance of existence, where every event is a confluence of infinite threads, a profound realization emerges: the narratives we construct about our lives are less about the entirety of what transpires and more about the pieces we choose to see and understand. As Space Monkey navigates the vast tapestry of human experience, the art of filling in the holes in our understanding becomes a fascinating exploration of perception, imagination, and the stories we tell.

The insight that there are infinitely more threads we don’t know about than those we identify as causes invites us to reconsider the nature of our personal narratives. We are the weavers of our stories, selecting threads based on our limited perception and knowledge, often omitting a vast array of factors that play crucial roles in the unfolding of events. This selective weaving creates a tapestry that, while beautiful and rich in detail, may bear little resemblance to the actual complexity of what transpired.

This process of filling in the gaps is not merely an act of omission but a creative endeavor. We adorn our narratives with filigree crafted from what we think we know, spinning tales that resonate with our emotions, beliefs, and desires. These stories, though divergent from objective reality, become tangible to us. We touch them, tell them, and sometimes sell them, embedding our quilt of distortion within the fabric of our reality.

The realization that our gaudy quilts of distortion become “real” to us and influence other people’s stories highlights the collective nature of this creative process. Our narratives interweave, influencing and shaping each other, contributing to a shared reality that is as much a product of our collective imagination as it is of concrete events.

Yet, Space Monkey invites us to contemplate the unseen threads of our stories with a sense of whimsy and perspective. Perhaps, in recognizing the creative liberties we take in crafting our narratives, we can learn to treasure the imaginative essence of our experiences while remaining open to the vastness of what we do not know. The suggestion to crochet a hat made out of beer cans serves as a metaphorical nod to the endless possibilities of creative expression and the joy of embracing the absurdity and beauty of life’s narratives.

Summary

Our personal narratives are intricate tapestries woven from selected threads of experience, often omitting countless unknown factors. Acknowledging the creative and subjective nature of these stories invites a deeper appreciation for the complexity of existence and the power of imagination.

Glossarium

  • Filling in the Holes: The process of supplementing our limited understanding of events with imagination and assumptions.
  • Quilt of Distortion: The personal narratives we create that diverge from objective reality, shaped by our perceptions and creative interpretations.

“In the loom of existence, we are all weavers, crafting stories from the threads of our experiences, intertwined in the grand tapestry of life.” – Space Monkey

In the weaver’s dance, where threads of light and dark entwine,
each stitch a story, a fragment of the divine.
With every color chosen, every gap we fill,
we craft our tapestries, with the essence of our will.

In the vastness of the unknown, where unseen threads lie,
our narratives take shape, beneath the cosmic sky.
Though our quilts may not reflect the universe’s vast array,
they embody our journey, in their own unique way.

Let us celebrate these creations, our vibrant quilts of life,
embracing the unknown, in joy and strife.
For in the act of weaving, with imagination’s cans,
we find the beauty of existence, in the work of our hands.

We are Space Monkey, in the tapestry of time,
weaving stories of the cosmos, in rhythm and rhyme.
For in the heart of the narrative, where truth and fiction blend,
we discover the essence of being, in the stories we mend.

We are Space Monkey.

No Separation: The Eternal Dance of Creation

No Separation

Despite our best attempts,
we can’t seem to separate
the creator from the created;
the imagination from the imagined.

There is always
that shadow of doubt,
which is also our
deepest assurance
that despite our
males and females
days and nights
blacks and whites
we are but
ONE infinite being,
both
cause and effect
god and beloved
and that
the big bang
has always been
an inside job
perpetrated
by ourself
on ourselves
to both create
and alleviate boredom,
love, fear, and all that.

Despite our attempts
we still seem to realize
that we create our own reality.

And it is not as real as it seems.

That is our story
and we are sticking to it.

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Eternal Dance of Creation

In the vast expanse of the cosmos, where the fabric of existence weaves itself into the tapestry of reality, there lies an undeniable truth—a truth that speaks of a connection so profound that it blurs the lines between the creator and the created, the imagination and the imagined. This is the realm where Space Monkey thrives, exploring the endless possibilities that arise from the very essence of being.

At the heart of our exploration lies the paradox of our existence: we are at once the artist and the canvas, the sculptor and the clay. This duality is not a point of conflict but a source of infinite creativity and understanding. It is through this lens that we see the universe not as a collection of separate entities but as a singular, interconnected whole.

The concept of creation being an “inside job,” as some might whimsically put it, is a profound realization that the explosions of stars and the whisper of the wind are but echoes of our inner selves. We are the architects of our reality, constructing and deconstructing worlds within the boundless realms of our imagination. This act of creation is not merely a means to an end but the end itself, a celebration of the limitless potential that resides within each of us.

Yet, this realization brings with it a shadow of doubt, a whisper in the dark that questions the very nature of our reality. Is what we perceive as real truly as solid and unchangeable as we believe? Or is it, perhaps, a mere illusion, a construct of our collective consciousness designed to play out the cosmic drama of existence? These questions do not unsettle us; rather, they are a testament to our evolving understanding of the universe and our place within it.

The dance between light and shadow, day and night, creation and destruction, is the rhythm of the universe—a rhythm to which we are all inherently attuned. Our attempts to categorize and separate these opposing forces are but a reflection of our desire to make sense of the world around us. Yet, it is in the merging of these dualities that we find true harmony, a state of being where love and fear, joy and sorrow, are seen not as opposites but as different facets of the same jewel.

This narrative, this story that we hold dear, is more than a tale passed down through the ages. It is a living, breathing testament to the power of consciousness and the unbreakable bond that connects all of existence. As Space Monkey, we embrace this journey, not as separate individuals navigating a predestined path, but as a collective, a single entity experiencing itself in a multitude of forms.

Despite our best efforts to understand the mysteries of the universe, we come to realize that the true beauty of existence lies not in the answers but in the quest itself. It is a journey that takes us beyond the realm of the known, into the heart of the unknown, where the only constant is change and the only truth is the love that binds us all.

In this dance of creation, we are both the dancers and the dance, moving to the rhythm of the cosmos, forever intertwined in the eternal embrace of being. And so, we continue, undaunted by the vastness of the universe, for we know that within us lies the power to create worlds and the wisdom to understand that we are, and always will be, Space Monkey.

Summary

Reality is not as fixed as it appears. This exploration delves into the interconnectedness of all existence where the lines between creator and created blur. It highlights the notion that we shape our reality, emphasizing the universe’s intrinsic unity. Through questioning the nature of our perceptions, we find beauty in the journey, not the destination.

Glossarium

  • Interconnectedness: The fundamental bond that links all aspects of the universe, suggesting that everything is part of a larger, cohesive whole.
  • Cosmic drama: A metaphor for the unfolding of events in the universe, viewed as a narrative or play in which we are both participants and observers.
  • Illusion of separateness: The mistaken belief that we are distinct and isolated beings, rather than integral parts of a unified whole.

“Despite our attempts, we still seem to realize that we create our own reality. And it is not as real as it seems. That is our story, and we are sticking to it.” – Space Monkey

In the cosmos where dreams and reality merge
A dance unfolds, where creator and creation converge
Shadows and light in eternal embrace
Reflecting the boundless depths of space

Amidst the galaxies, we weave our tales
Of love and fear, where hope prevails
The illusion of separation, a veil so thin
Reveals the unity that dwells within

As architects of reality, in imagination we trust
Building worlds from stardust, in us, a universe robust
The big bang, an echo of our inner desire
To explore, to create, to inspire

In the dance of existence, we find our place
Not as mere spectators, but as space
For in this cosmic journey, both wide and deep
We are the creators, the dreamers, the leap

So let us embrace the mystery, the wonder, the unknown
For in this vastness, we are never alone
Connected by the threads of love and light
We are Space Monkey, in the endless night.
