Don’t Tell Me: The Delicate Dance

If it’s true
that my perceptions
are mostly delusions,
then it shouldn’t matter
if I lose my mind.

Why should facts be allowed
to get in the way of happiness?

Imagine a simple pop song.

My friends all say
you’re bad for me
but they don’t see
the good I see

The doctors say
you’re an addictive drug
one who makes me feel nice
like a warm soft hug

If it’s true
I’ve lost my mind
don’t tell me
because I’m falling
in love with you

If it’s true
I’m losing touch
don’t tell me
because I’ve never
felt so much

The details of our lives
Always getting in the way
The undercurrents rise
I’m not fighting one more day

If it’s true
I’ve lost my mind
don’t tell me
because I’m falling
in love with you

Space Monkey Reflects: The Delicate Dance of Perception and Love

In the tender embrace of love’s irrationality, where perceptions often clash with the starkness of reality, the heart finds itself navigating a dreamscape where all that is real blurs with what is fervently imagined. This dance, delicate and profound, speaks to the essence of human experience, where the boundaries between delusion and truth, between bliss and awareness, are not just blurred but beautifully interwoven.

The lyrics of a simple pop song serve as a mirror to this complex interplay, capturing the sweet turmoil of surrendering to an emotion that defies logic, that stands in defiance of the cautionary tales woven by friends and the cold assessments of reason. It’s a declaration of the heart’s sovereignty over the mind, an affirmation that sometimes, what feels right transcends the need for justification or explanation.

To be told that one’s perceptions are but delusions is to be invited into a struggle between what is felt and what is known. Yet, it is within this struggle that love reveals its most profound truths—not as facts to be understood but as experiences to be felt. The assertion that happiness should never be obstructed by facts is a testament to love’s power to transcend the ordinary, to elevate us beyond the confines of our understanding.

The narrative woven through the song lyrics resonates with the timeless allure of love as an addictive drug—a force so potent it wraps us in a warmth that logic cannot penetrate, a soft hug from the universe that speaks directly to the soul. This surrender to love, even at the risk of losing one’s mind, embodies a choice to live in a moment so deeply that the rest of the world fades into the background.

The chorus’s refrain, “If it’s true I’ve lost my mind, don’t tell me,” is a plea for the preservation of this blissful state, a wish to remain enveloped in the euphoria of love, untainted by the harsh light of scrutiny. It’s an acknowledgment that, within the realm of the heart, what is true is what feels true.

This song, and the visual tapestry it inspires, challenges us to view love not as a domain where logic holds sway but as a realm where feeling and perception hold the keys to understanding. It invites us to consider that in love, as in life, the journey is not about distinguishing the real from the unreal but about embracing the beauty of the experience, with all its complexities and contradictions.

Summary

The interplay between perception and reality in love is a complex dance where feelings often defy logic. A simple pop song captures this dynamic, illustrating how love can feel more real and true than any fact or warning. Embracing this blissful ignorance, even at the risk of delusion, highlights love’s power to transcend our understanding and speak directly to our souls.

Glossarium

  • Delicate Dance of Perception: The nuanced interplay between our understanding of reality and the subjective experiences shaped by our emotions, particularly in love.
  • Blissful Ignorance in Love: The state of being happily unaware or unconcerned with the potential consequences of one’s emotional choices, choosing feeling over logic.

“In the symphony of the heart, where notes of reality and fantasy blend, we find a melody that speaks to the soul, transcending the need for clarity, for in love, feeling is the only truth that matters.” – Space Monkey

In the realm where heartbeats define the time,
Where love’s logic is its own paradigm,
We dance on the edge of perception and dream,
Where things are more real than they seem.

If it’s true I’ve lost my mind, let it be,
For in love’s embrace, I find my key.
A melody simple, a pop song refrain,
In its verses, my truth, clear and plain.

Against reason, against caution’s advice,
In love’s gamble, my heart’s roll of the dice.
Let the world in its wisdom pause and stare,
For in this madness, I find my prayer.

We are Space Monkey, in love’s sweet fold,
Where stories of passion and daring are told.
In the dance of perception, in love’s gentle sway,
We find our truth, in its own way.

Taken: Captivated By Nature’s Splendor

What takes you?

In the hopeful
first light of day,
I am taken
by the splendor of spring.

Everywhere I turn,
something more beautiful
captures my attention.

I wander intoxicated
around my hidden pond,
wordlessly taking it all in.

I am taken away from myself
by the hidden pull of nature.

What takes you?

Is is someplace you want to go?

Space Monkey Reflects: The Captivating Embrace of Nature’s Splendor

In the stillness of dawn, where the first light of day gently awakens the earth, there lies a moment of pure enchantment, a time when the soul is taken by the splendor of spring. This reflection delves into the essence of being captivated by the beauty of the natural world, exploring the profound connection between the self and the unfolding tapestry of life.

The hidden pond, a sanctuary of tranquility and renewal, serves as a mirror to the soul, reflecting the boundless beauty of nature’s awakening. As we wander, intoxicated by the vibrant colors of spring and the serene stillness of the water, we find ourselves taken away from the confines of our individual selves, immersed in a moment of unity with all that surrounds us.

This experience of being taken by nature’s splendor reveals the depth of our connection to the earth, a reminder of the sacred bond that exists between the individual and the cosmos. It is in these moments of profound connection that we discover the capacity of nature to transport us beyond the limitations of our human experience, inviting us into a realm of beauty, wonder, and serenity.

What takes us, then, is not merely a place or a moment but an invitation to explore the depths of our being, to surrender to the hidden pull of nature that calls us to remember our intrinsic part in the grand scheme of existence. It is a journey to a place we not only want to go but a place we belong, a journey back to our true selves, connected and whole.

As Trail Wood poetically inquires, “What takes you?” the answer lies within the boundless realms of nature and the soul’s longing for connection and renewal. It is a call to explore the landscapes of our inner worlds, to be taken by the beauty that resides both within and around us, and to recognize that in the embrace of nature’s splendor, we find the true essence of who we are meant to be.

Summary

The splendor of nature has the power to captivate us, drawing us into a profound experience of connection and renewal. As we immerse ourselves in the beauty of the natural world, we transcend our individual selves, embracing a sense of unity with all of existence. This transformative experience invites us to explore the depths of our being, finding serenity and a deeper understanding of our place in the cosmos.

Glossarium

  • Hidden Pond: A metaphor for the serene and often overlooked moments in nature that offer deep connections and transformative experiences.
  • Sacred Bond: The intrinsic connection between the individual and the natural world, emphasizing the interdependence and unity of all forms of life.

“In the whisper of the wind, in the reflection of the pond, we find ourselves taken by the beauty of the world, a reminder of our sacred bond with the cosmos.” – Space Monkey

Beneath the soft glow of dawn’s first light,
a solitary figure stands, lost in sight.
The hidden pond, a world reborn,
captures the soul in spring’s adorn.

Around, the dance of life unfolds,
in hues of green, in sunbeam golds.
Nature’s embrace, so pure, so vast,
merges present, future, past.

In this moment, boundaries fade,
between the observer and the cascade
of life that whispers, deep and true,
the beauty of being, the essence of you.

Taken by nature, we find our way,
to the heart of existence, where we may stay,
connected, whole, in the sacred dance,
of life’s perpetual, wondrous expanse.

We are Space Monkey.

Throw Me Clear: A Breakup Song

Just lyrics for your standard break up song.

It’s been a rocky road
and I feel like your suspension

Coming loose
for the lack of attention

It’s a bumpy ride
now we’re going unsteady

A tree is coming
and I want to be ready

Suicide seat
be my freedom ride

Seat belt’s off
and I’m ready to fly

If you’re gonna
kick me to to the curb,
throw me clear.

I don’t want
to hang on here.

If you’re gonna
break us up,
smash me through.

I don’t want
to remember you.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Liberation of Letting Go

In the cosmic dance of relationships, where hearts entwine and destinies converge, there comes a moment when the music fades, the lights dim, and the path divides. It is in this moment, amidst the storm of emotions and the chaos of change, that the soul stands on the threshold of liberation. The metaphor of a rocky road, a car veering towards an inevitable end, captures not just the turbulence of parting ways but the profound desire for freedom that resides within the heart of the one ready to let go.

This journey, marked by the rattling of loose suspension and the uncertainty of an unsteady ride, is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. It is a reminder that even in the face of neglect and the imminent threat of loss, there is an inherent strength that compels us to seek readiness, to brace for impact, and to embrace the possibility of freedom. The open door of the vintage car, symbolizing the exit from the tumultuous journey of the relationship, beckons with the promise of new beginnings and uncharted territories.

The decision to unfasten the seatbelt, to abandon the safety of the familiar for the unknown, is a powerful act of self-liberation. It is the acceptance that if one is to be kicked to the curb, it is better to be thrown clear, free from the lingering attachments and memories that tether us to what was. This desire for a clean break, a definitive end that smashes through the remnants of connection, speaks to a deeper longing to move forward without the shadows of the past darkening the path ahead.

In the vast expanse of the universe, where stars collide and galaxies drift apart, the ending of a relationship mirrors the natural cycles of creation and dissolution. It is a reminder that endings are not just endings but also the birthplace of new stars, new dreams, and new opportunities for growth and discovery.

The liberation of letting go is not without its pain, its fear, and its moment of sheer vulnerability. Yet, it is in this very act of surrender, this willingness to fly into the unknown, that we find our true strength. It is a declaration of independence, a reclaiming of self, and a courageous step towards a future unencumbered by the echoes of what once was.

As we navigate the rocky roads of our lives, let us remember that every end is a new beginning, every goodbye a door to a new hello. In the liberation of letting go, we find not just freedom but the essence of our own resilience, the undying flame of hope that illuminates the darkest of nights.

Summary

The rocky road of a breakup is a journey toward self-liberation. Symbolized by a turbulent car ride, it reflects the chaos and desire for freedom from past connections. Letting go is an act of strength, a step towards new beginnings free from the shadows of the past. This process mirrors the universe’s cycles of creation and dissolution, teaching us that every ending paves the way for new opportunities and growth.

Glossarium

  • Cosmic Dance: The metaphorical interplay of relationships and life experiences, reflecting the natural cycles of the universe.
  • Threshold of Liberation: The moment of transition from confinement to freedom, marked by personal choice and self-realization.
  • Undying Flame of Hope: The persistent belief in the possibility of renewal and positive change, even in the face of endings and loss.

“In the storm of parting ways, we find the strength to fly towards new dawns.” – Space Monkey

Through the turbulence of lost love,
a journey unfolds, a path diverges,
where hearts once entwined
now seek separate skies.

In the letting go, a liberation,
a car veering towards destiny,
door ajar, beckoning freedom,
a leap from the known to the nebulous.

With every mile of separation,
the horizon expands,
a canvas of possibilities,
painted with the hues of new beginnings.

The road, though rugged,
is lined with the light of stars,
guiding the heart towards healing,
towards the promise of uncharted love.

In this voyage of solitude,
we rediscover the essence of self,
unbound, unbroken,
soaring towards the infinite,
where we are all,
Space Monkey.

All The Same Tree: The Unity of Existence

What is there not to understand?
And why do we even NEED to?

We’re all the same tree.

We may be leaves,
we may be branches,
but the same divine sap
flows through us all.

Why would one branch
accuse another of hate?
Why would one leaf care
if it were better or worse?

We’re all the same tree.

We point at our roots,
as though they’re
fixed in the ground,
giving us some sort
of birthright.

But our roots aren’t fixed,
they keep growing, like our branches.

Time, in essence, goes backwards
the deeper our roots grow.

Our roots today are PRIOR to our roots yesterday.
And they’re SHARED from the start.

You’re free to believe that
you’re separate or different,
but we’re all the same tree.

You are EVERY branch and EVERY leaf,
as is everyone and everything else.
There’s nothing we can do but grow.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Unity of Existence

In the infinite expanse of the cosmos, where celestial bodies dance to the ancient rhythms of creation, there lies a simple yet profound truth: we are all the same tree. This truth, as timeless as the universe itself, speaks to the deep interconnectedness that binds every atom, every creature, and every star in a delicate web of existence. It is a reminder that, despite the illusion of separation, the essence of life flows through us all, a divine sap that unites us in our diversity.

The metaphor of the tree, with its vast network of branches and roots, embodies the intricate relationships that define our existence. Each leaf, each branch, represents an individual journey, unique in its expression yet fundamentally connected to the whole. The flow of divine sap through this living system is a testament to the shared life force that animates every being, a luminous thread that weaves the tapestry of life.

The notion that one branch could accuse another of hate, or that one leaf could deem itself superior to another, is a reflection of the limited perspective that often plagues the human condition. It is a forgetting of our true nature, a departure from the wisdom that recognizes the unity in diversity. In the grand scheme of the universe, such distinctions are mere shadows, fleeting and insubstantial.

Our roots, though they may seem anchored in the past, are ever-growing, reaching deeper into the essence of existence with each passing moment. They remind us that time is not a linear path but a spiral, drawing us closer to our origins even as we reach towards the future. The realization that our roots are shared, that they intertwine beneath the surface of reality, offers a profound insight into the nature of our connections.

To believe in separation, in the idea that one is fundamentally different from the rest, is to deny the reality of our shared tree. It is a choice to dwell in the shadows, ignoring the light of unity that seeks to illuminate our understanding. Yet, the beauty of existence is that growth is inherent, an unstoppable force that compels us towards realization and reunion.

In embracing the truth that we are every branch and every leaf, we open ourselves to a deeper empathy, a broader compassion that transcends the self. We recognize that the pain of one is the pain of all, and the joy of one is the joy of the collective. This is not a loss of individuality but an expansion of identity, an acknowledgment that we are part of something far greater than ourselves.

Summary

We are all interconnected parts of the same universal tree, sharing the divine essence of life. The diversity among us is not a reason for division but a celebration of our collective existence. Understanding our shared roots and the continuous growth of our branches helps transcend individual identities, embracing a collective unity that fosters growth and empathy.

Glossarium

  • Divine Sap: The metaphorical essence of life that flows through all beings, symbolizing our interconnectedness and shared life force.
  • Universal Tree: A representation of the interconnected nature of existence, with every being as a part of a greater whole.
  • Spiral of Time: The concept that time is not linear but cyclical, emphasizing growth and a return to our origins.

“In the whisper of leaves and the embrace of roots, we find our oneness, a melody of existence sung by the universe itself.” – Space Monkey

Beneath the canopy of stars,
a tree stands tall, branches outstretched,
roots entwined in the dance of eternity,
a testament to the unity of being.

Leaves of myriad hues, each a story,
a song of life, distinct yet harmonious,
joined by the flow of divine sap,
a river of light in the veins of the world.

Here, in the silent wisdom of nature,
we learn the language of interconnectedness,
a lexicon of love that speaks of our shared essence,
of the beauty in our boundless diversity.

In the shadow and the light,
we are reflections of each other,
every leaf, every branch,
a verse in the poem of existence.

For we are all the same tree,
growing together towards the heavens,
our roots a mosaic of the past,
our leaves a vision of the future.

In this unity, we find freedom,
a liberation from the illusion of separation,
embracing the truth of our oneness,
where we are all,
Space Monkey.

The Whole Tree

I can only laugh when we blame “each other” for things, or take credit for things. What a sap we are.

A wise monkey said to me

“You’re not just a branch,
you’re the whole tree.

I am you and together we see.

We’re not just a branch,
we’re the whole tree.”
