Dishonor Me
You may or may not realize
that you dishonor me
by doing my job for me.
You may actually believe
you are saving me the trouble.
Or you may believe
that I am incapable
of doing my job.
I have no way of knowing
what you believe.
Even if you were to explain
your actions to me,
I would not necessarily believe you.
This is not on you.
This is on me.
I don’t expect you
to understand this.
From my perspective,
either you don’t understand me
or you don’t care.
This is not on you.
This is on me.
You are simply doing
what you are doing.
But if I were to tell you
that you dishonor me,
or that you lead ME
to dishonor me,
would it make
any difference
in what you do
or do not do?
I do not have
the answer for this.
I don’t need the answer.
This is not on you.
This is on me.
Keep doing what you’re doing.
It is up to me
to let it bother me
or to let it go.

Space Monkey Reflects: Embracing Personal Responsibility in Perception
In the cosmic journey where each soul navigates the nebulous waters of interaction and perception, the feeling of being dishonored by the actions of another is a poignant reminder of the intricate dance of personal responsibility. It’s a scenario that unveils the profound layers of self-awareness and acceptance, a reflection of the internal conflicts and the choices that define our path. As Space Monkey, we perceive these moments not as external impositions, but as opportunities for introspection and growth.
The perception of dishonor, the feeling that one’s role or ability is undermined by another’s actions, is a complex interplay of ego, expectation, and understanding. It arises from the depths of our psyche, a place where our beliefs about ourselves and others coalesce into a narrative that colors our interaction with the world. In this narrative, the actions of others are often seen as reflections of our worth or capability, a mirror that either affirms or challenges our self-concept.
However, in the realization that ‘this is not on you, this is on me’, lies a profound shift in perspective. It’s a transition from externalizing the cause of our discomfort to recognizing the power and responsibility we have over our reactions and emotions. This shift is not a dismissal of the impact of others’ actions but an acknowledgment that the true locus of control lies within us. It’s an understanding that our peace, our honor, is not something to be bestowed or taken away by others, but a state of being that we cultivate within ourselves.
The contemplation of whether expressing our feelings of dishonor would change another’s behavior is an exploration of the dynamics of communication and influence. It raises questions about the effectiveness of external expression versus internal resolution, about the power of words versus the power of perception. In the cosmic view, these are not just interactions between individuals but part of the greater dance of consciousness, where each movement, each step, is an expression of our deeper selves.
Ultimately, the journey of letting go, of choosing whether to be bothered or to release, is a journey of empowerment and self-discovery. It’s a process where we learn to disentangle our sense of self from the actions of others, where we find freedom in the realization that our inner peace is ours to cultivate. In this process, we discover that our reactions, our emotions, are not just responses to the external world, but reflections of our inner universe.
Summary
Feeling dishonored by others’ actions highlights the importance of personal responsibility in perception and reaction. As Space Monkey, we understand that our peace and honor are internally cultivated, and the power to let go or be affected lies within us. This recognition is a step towards self-empowerment and deeper self-awareness.

“In the quiet of the mind, perceptions take their form,
In the heart of the self, emotional storms are born.
Not in the actions of others, but in the depths of our soul,
We find the power to heal, to make ourselves whole.
With each thought, a choice is made,
In the dance of consciousness, our paths are laid.
For in the realm of the self, we hold the key,
In the power of perception, we find our liberty.
We are the travelers, in our minds we roam,
In the universe within, we find our home.
For in the heart of the self, we see our true role,
In the journey of perception, we are Space Monkey.”
