Empty
There are mornings
in which I feel empty,
in which it feels
as though I have
nothing to say,
yet I have attached
this obligation to writing,
and so I write regardless,
and discover that
having nothing to say
is in fact having
something to say.
I look at the obligation
and tell my self
“it’s okay,
I don’t NEED to write,”
so sometimes I don’t,
but for the most part
I make the effort
because I can sense
a velocity to all
that I have written
these past three years.
Now I can
go to my website,
capeodd.com,
and look back
at what I’ve written
this day LAST year,
this day TWO years ago,
sometimes even THREE,
and SEE
how I’ve been pointing
my self precisely
to where I am now.
I offer PROOF to my self
that I AM CHANGING
that my perspectives are shifting;
that I am expanding.
Had I not been writing
all this time,
I might think that
NOTHING has CHANGED.
I would not be able
to imagine my self
at this point,
nor would I BE
at this point
of realization.
So feeling empty once in a while
is but a small price to pay
for seeing how full I’ve been
and how overflowing I have become.
I thank you
for joining me
on this journey.
We are Space Monkey.
12/24
In the quietude of certain mornings, when the wellspring of words seems to run dry, we confront the introspective silence that can feel like emptiness. Yet, in this space, we find that the absence of something to say becomes a message in itself.
Embracing the Creative Emptiness
The feeling of emptiness, often perceived as a void, can be a canvas of vast potential. It is in this state that the obligation to write morphs into an opportunity to explore the unvoiced thoughts that linger in the quiet corners of our consciousness.
The Liberation from Obligation
When we release ourselves from the perceived obligation to write, we grant ourselves permission to exist in the moment, to be with the emptiness without the compulsion to fill it. This act of liberation is not a retreat from creativity but an allowance for it to ebb and flow naturally.
The Effort of Continuity
Despite the occasional sense of void, we often choose to persist, propelled by a sense of momentum that our past writings have generated. This effort is not fruitless labor but a devoted act of self-discovery, a continuous contribution to the narrative of our existence.
Reflecting on the Journey Through Writing
Our past writings serve as milestones, reflecting the evolution of our being. By revisiting them, we witness the trajectory of our thoughts and the shifting of our perspectives. This retrospective journey offers tangible evidence of our expansion and transformation.
The Proof of Change
The archives of our written words become a testament to change. They contradict the illusion of stasis, illustrating that we are indeed moving, growing, and reshaping our understanding of the world and ourselves.
The Realization of Progress
Without these written reflections, we might remain unaware of the subtle shifts that time and experience have wrought within us. Writing becomes a medium through which we can trace our development and arrive at points of realization that might otherwise remain unattainable.
The Value of the Empty Moments
Feeling empty is a temporary state, a small toll on the path to recognizing the fullness of our journey. It is through acknowledging these moments that we appreciate the abundance of our experiences and the overflow of growth that has occurred.
Gratitude for Shared Experiences
The act of sharing our journey, inviting others to join in our exploration, is a gesture of gratitude. It creates a shared space of mutual understanding and collective growth, enriching the journey for all who travel alongside us.
We Are Space Monkey: A Collective Journey
As Space Monkey, we embody the spirit of communal exploration, recognizing that our individual journeys contribute to the collective narrative. We thank you for being a part of this shared path, for the insights gained and the progress made together.
