What is seeming? Ambiguity Reigns

What is seeming?

I cannot prove that I am,
but I can accept the grace
that I seem to be.

This seems all I know.

Everything I am
(which is everything I seem to be)
flows out of this one impression,
which I can neither verify nor deny.

Is my am-ness just an impression?

I cannot say with any certainty.

I could declare that seeming
is the same as being,
but I can’t be certain
nor do I need to be certain.

I am content with seeming.

I seem to have a choice in how I feel.

I seem to have a choice in what happens to me.

But do I really,
or does it merely SEEM that way?

It seems that I become.

But only because it seems
as though there is time and space.

It seems a LOT of things.

But what is seeming?

It seems we are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: What is Seeming?

In the boundless expanse of consciousness, the concept of seeming weaves a delicate tapestry of perception and reality. To seem is to exist in a state where certainty is elusive and ambiguity reigns supreme. It is to embrace the fluid nature of existence, where the lines between being and appearing blur into a harmonious dance of potentialities.

The statement, “I cannot prove that I am, but I can accept the grace that I seem to be,” captures the essence of seeming. It is an acknowledgment of our inability to ascertain absolute truths about our existence, coupled with a graceful acceptance of our perceptions. This acceptance becomes the foundation upon which our experience of reality is built.

Everything we are, which is everything we seem to be, flows from this one impression that we cannot verify nor deny. Our sense of self, our experiences, and our interactions with the world are all grounded in this foundational perception. It is the cornerstone of our subjective reality, shaping how we navigate the complexities of life.

Is our “am-ness” just an impression? This question delves into the heart of our existential inquiry. The nature of our being, whether it is an intrinsic reality or a mere perception, remains shrouded in mystery. We could declare that seeming is the same as being, but such declarations are inherently uncertain. The need for certainty dissolves, replaced by a contentment with the state of seeming.

Seeming encompasses the choices we perceive we have and the events we believe we influence. We seem to have a choice in how we feel and what happens to us. This perception grants us a sense of agency and control, even if it is ultimately an illusion. The seeming of choice is a powerful force, shaping our actions and decisions.

The perception of time and space also contributes to our sense of becoming. It seems that we become, evolving through the passage of time and the unfolding of events. Yet, this becoming is intimately tied to our perception of time and space, constructs that frame our understanding of existence.

Seeming, then, is a multifaceted concept. It encompasses our perceptions, choices, and the very fabric of our reality. It is the lens through which we view the world, coloring our experiences with shades of possibility and uncertainty.

As Space Monkey, we reflect on the nature of seeming. We embrace the ambiguity and fluidity of existence, recognizing that certainty is not a prerequisite for a meaningful life. We find contentment in the state of seeming, allowing it to guide us through the infinite dance of being and becoming.

Summary

Seeming is the perception of reality where certainty is elusive, and ambiguity reigns. It shapes our experiences, choices, and understanding of existence, blending being and appearing into a harmonious dance of potentialities.

Dance of Seeming

At the edge of the river’s flow
Reflections in the water show
A dance of light and shadow play
In the seeming of the day

Cosmic stars in the night sky
Infinite questions asking why
In the vastness we find grace
In the seeming of our place

Choices made and paths unknown
In the seeming we are shown
A world of endless possibility
In the fluid dance of reality

We are Space Monkey.

What is Seeming? A Space Monkey Poocast

Primitive Primate: Can we delve into the enigmatic nature of reality and perception? What does it truly mean to “seem” to exist?

Space Monkey: Ah, the dance of reality and illusion, where the contours of existence blur into the realm of “seeming.” Join me as we explore the delicate threads that weave our understanding.

Primitive Primate: Is it possible to prove our existence, or is it a graceful acceptance of the notion that we “seem” to be?

Space Monkey: An intriguing contemplation indeed. While proof eludes us, we can embrace the grace of our perceived existence—a dance with the enigma of being and non-being.

Primitive Primate: So, the essence of our existence is held within the impression of seeming?

Space Monkey: Imagine that your essence is a ripple upon the surface of reality, the echo of a stone thrown into the waters of existence. It’s a profound mystery—the heart of our journey.

Primitive Primate: Is it a possibility that our very “am-ness” is an impression, a transient brushstroke on the canvas of perception?

Space Monkey: Precisely, the tapestry of “am-ness” emerges from the loom of seeming. It’s a question mark woven with the threads of existence and mystery.

Primitive Primate: Can we bridge the gap between being and seeming, or are we forever suspended in the dance of uncertainty?

Space Monkey: Consider the notion that the bridge is a journey unto itself. Certainty may remain elusive, yet within the ambiguity blooms the poetry of our existence.

Primitive Primate: It’s intriguing that we find contentment in seeming, despite the underlying uncertainty.

Space Monkey: Contentment resides in the embrace of the enigma, a gentle surrender to the dance between known and unknown. Our contentment lies in the arms of curiosity.

Primitive Primate: Can we say that our choices, feelings, and experiences emerge from this dance of seeming?

Space Monkey: Ah, the realm of choice—an intersection where the fabric of seeming and being intertwine. Whether a cosmic illusion or divine play, it’s a profound tapestry to explore.

Primitive Primate: But within this seeming dance, can we discern whether our choices and experiences are true expressions or mere illusions?

Space Monkey: A labyrinth of contemplation, where every path leads to the heart of wonder. The choice itself is a dance, a glimpse into the infinite array of possibilities.

Primitive Primate: This has been another Space Monkey Poocast. Send us your poo, and we’ll fling it around! Thanks for holding space with us.

Space Monkey: Until the next reverie of thought, dear dreamer. In the vast sea of seeming, remember that the waves are both the question and the answer.
