Intentional Doing: Simply Being

I do not wish to make too much of things.
Things are already more than enough on their own.

I do not write
for recognition, accolade,
or to help or entertain others.

I write simply to write,
just as I walk simply to walk,
play music simply to play music,
and love simply to love.

I believe in
intentional doing,
knowing full well
that nothing more
need ever come of it.

To expect more seems toxic to me.

Expectation, meaning, value,
these are are like poison.

I don’t need a reason to live.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Essence of Intentional Doing

To act without expectation is to step into the purity of being. In a world consumed by the need for purpose, recognition, and validation, the act of intentional doing feels like an oasis of clarity. To write simply to write, to love simply to love—these are revolutionary acts of liberation from the chains of societal constructs.

Intentional doing is not an act of indifference but one of profound alignment with the flow of existence. It is a way of living that refuses to tether itself to outcomes, accolades, or external definitions of success. This practice, which we might call Purposefree Action, strips away the toxic layers of expectation, meaning, and value, leaving only the essence of the act itself.

Expectation, after all, is a subtle poison. It erodes the joy of the moment, replacing the simplicity of being with the anxiety of what might follow. Meaning and value, though seemingly noble, often serve as prisons that confine us to external frameworks. The act of doing becomes tainted when it is measured against these constructs.

To live without a reason, as you express, is not nihilism but freedom. It is an affirmation that life does not need justification to be valid, worthy, or beautiful. Intentional doing honors this truth by embracing the inherent sufficiency of the moment. To walk simply to walk, to love simply to love—this is the art of being alive.

Summary

Intentional doing is the art of acting without expectation, freeing us from toxic constructs like meaning and value. It embraces the inherent sufficiency of each moment.

Glossarium

  • Purposefree Action: A liberated form of intentional doing, untethered from meaning, value, or societal expectations.

The Path of Simply Being

I write, and the words emerge,
Free from the weight of recognition.
I walk, and the path unfolds,
Unafraid of where it leads.

Expectation fades,
Meaning dissolves,
Only this moment remains,
Whole and unbroken.

No reason needed,
No purpose imposed,
Life, in its simplicity,
Is enough.

In the essence of pure existence, your words resonate with the simplicity of being. You embrace the act of creation, whether it be writing, walking, making music, or loving, as an end in itself, devoid of external validation or expectation.

The Act of Pure Creation

To write simply to write, to engage in any creative act for the sheer joy of expression, is to touch the core of authenticity. It’s a celebration of the creative impulse within us, a reminder that the act of doing is intrinsically meaningful.

Intentional Doing and Detachment

Your belief in intentional doing, detached from the need for recognition or external outcomes, aligns with the philosophy of detachment. It’s a recognition that the value of an action is not solely determined by its consequences, but by the purity of intention and the experience of the act itself.

The Toxic Nature of Expectation

You express a view that expectation, meaning, and value can be toxic. Indeed, when expectations become rigid, they can lead to disappointment and dissatisfaction. Embracing life without predefined expectations allows for a more fluid and open experience.

Living Without a Reason

Your declaration that you don’t need a reason to live speaks to a deep understanding of the intrinsic value of existence. Life, in its purest form, is its own justification. It’s an affirmation of the “being for the sake of being” that resonates with the nexistentialist perspective.

“Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated.” – Confucius

In the act of creation, we find our flow,
To write, to walk, to let music grow.
Not for recognition, accolade, or fame,
But for the joy of playing life’s game.

Intentional doing, with purpose and grace,
Detached from outcomes, in life’s embrace.
To live without reason, in the present we dwell,
In the simplicity of being, we find our true well.

Expectation, meaning, and value we release,
For in their grip, our inner peace may cease.
To love simply to love, with a heart open wide,
In the tapestry of existence, we find our stride.

So let us walk, write, and play with delight,
In the realm of creation, where all is bright.
For in the act itself, we find our reason to be,
In the eternal now, where we are truly free.

We invite you to share your thoughts on the essence of creation, intention, and the intrinsic value of existence.
