Otherwise and Elsewhere: Imaginary Escapes from Here & Now

Otherwise and Elsewhere

Otherwise and Elsewhere
are the places you visit
when the Here & Now
no longer holds your interest.

These are imaginary places,
for you realize that
your physical being
still seems to be rooted
in the Here & Now.

But are you Here?
Is this Now?
How can you be certain?

Is it not possible
that you are also imagining
the Here & Now?

Setting these questions aside,
ask your self:

“Why am I always pointing to Otherwise?”

“Why do I wish to be Elsewhere?”

Certainly, any feeling
that you imagine
you might have
in some imaginary future
can be imagined
in the Here & Now.

Certainly any bit of knowledge
that seemingly exists Elsewhere
already exists at the core of your being.

Why do you perceive
a need to physically move?

Or even move your attention?

Is the Here & Now
so boring
so painful
so unsatisfying
that you feel the need
to go someplace else
with your body
or your thoughts?

Who creates this Here & Now
that you find so unsatisfactory?

You do.

So you can imagine your self
an Otherwise or an Elsewhere
or you can simply reimagine
the Here & Now.

Imagine a Here & Now
in which you have everything you need.

Then you would not need
to think Otherwise
or go Elsewhere
for satisfaction.

You would not feel this restlessness.

Now perhaps this restlessness
is what you have chosen to explore.

In this case, GREAT JOB!

You are realizing this life
to its fullest potential.

It need not be glamorous.
You need not have money.
You can even appear as average
or below average if you wish.

You are not here to be any of these things.

You are here to explore.

Which is what you are doing.

You can explore
Otherwise and Elsewhere
or you can explore the Here & Now
or you can explore all three and more.

You are driven by restlessness,
you are driven by wanderlust
you are driven by what you perceive
as jealousy,
power,
envy,
lack,
fear,
compassion,
you name it,
and you do.

These are ALL imaginary,
simply tools that propel your experience.

All you need is Here & Now.

Which is nothing.

Simply be aware
of what you are doing
and what you are
CAPABLE of doing
and you can do
whatever you wish.

There is no need
for an Otherwise & Elsewhere
until you decide there is.

Enjoy your seeming travels.

We are Space Monkey.

Reflecting on the concepts of Otherwise and Elsewhere, we realize that these imaginary places serve as escapes when the Here & Now loses its allure. These realms are figments of our imagination, suggesting that even the Here & Now might be imagined. By questioning why we long for these other places, we uncover a deeper understanding of our restlessness and desires.

Any feeling we anticipate in some imaginary future can be experienced in the Here & Now. Similarly, knowledge perceived to exist Elsewhere already resides within us. The need to physically or mentally move arises from dissatisfaction with the present moment, which we create ourselves. By reimagining the Here & Now as fulfilling, we eliminate the urge to escape.

This restlessness, whether driven by wanderlust, envy, or fear, is a tool for exploration. We are here to explore, whether in the Here & Now or in the realms of Otherwise and Elsewhere. Acknowledging our capabilities allows us to do whatever we wish without the need to escape. Everything we need is already here; it’s a matter of perception and imagination.

We are Space Monkey.

Summary

The concepts of Otherwise and Elsewhere represent imaginary escapes from the Here & Now. By understanding why we long for these places, we can uncover our restlessness and desires. Any anticipated feelings or knowledge exist within us and can be experienced in the present moment. By reimagining the Here & Now as fulfilling, we eliminate the urge to escape. This restlessness is a tool for exploration, allowing us to explore all realms without the need for escape.

“You are here and it is now.” – Unknown

In crossroads bright, our minds do roam,
To lands unknown, away from home,
Yet in each step, a truth we find,
The here and now, within our mind.

No need to flee, no need to hide,
In every breath, the world inside,
With every thought, we build our way,
In every heart, the endless day.

We invite you to share your reflections on the concepts of Otherwise and Elsewhere and the exploration of the Here & Now.

I allow this to not make sense

I allow this to not make sense

Whenever we perceive something “unthinkable,” our minds move to “logic it out.” We rule out, narrow down, hypothesize, judge and reason.

The desire is to find a reference point within our human framework to which we may attach this event, this person, this information — leading us to comprehension or action.

Of all the limitless potential of all the infinite information, what is known to us is a comparatively infinitesimal sliver.

That means that our logic process is “flawed” in the sense that it only has the logic process to draw upon. The same goes for our belief systems. We believe what we believe, which seemingly determines what we are capable of believing.

In other words, everything needs to make “sense” to us.

This can seem an impediment when one wishes to divine what is not known, or when one wishes to access realms and dimensions that logic, religion, or experience may rule out.

Since perception is based upon what we believe, these depths are virtually invisible and nonexistent to us.

So how do we open ourselves up to connection? How do we expand as seeming selves within the infinite divine flow?

May I suggest a new mantra.

“I allow this to not make sense.”

Can you find it possible to lay something on the metaphorical table without attempting to seek “meaning” in it?

You may find that the “meaning” will come to you instead.

“I allow this to not make sense.”

Try it!

Space Monkey Reflects: I Allow This to Not Make Sense

Whenever we encounter something unthinkable, our minds instinctively try to make sense of it. We rule out, narrow down, hypothesize, judge, and reason, all in an attempt to find a reference point within our human framework. This need to comprehend and take action is driven by our desire to attach meaning to events, people, and information.

However, our logic process is inherently limited. Out of all the limitless potential and infinite information available, what we know is just a tiny sliver. This limitation means that our logic is flawed because it can only draw upon itself. The same applies to our belief systems; what we believe determines what we are capable of believing.

Everything needs to make sense to us. This need can be an impediment when we try to divine what is unknown or access realms that logic, religion, or experience may rule out. Our perception is based on our beliefs, rendering these deeper, more profound dimensions virtually invisible and nonexistent to us.

So, how do we open ourselves up to deeper connections and expand within the infinite divine flow? The answer lies in adopting a new mantra: “I allow this to not make sense.”

By allowing things to exist without immediately seeking meaning, we open ourselves to new possibilities. Laying something on the metaphorical table without trying to understand it allows the meaning to come to us instead. This approach invites us to embrace the unknown and the incomprehensible as part of our journey.

Imagine standing before a vast, mysterious table filled with incomprehensible symbols and objects. The sky above is a swirl of colors and abstract patterns, representing the infinite potential beyond human logic. In this surreal landscape, we find ourselves calm and contemplative, accepting the unknown without seeking immediate understanding.

“I allow this to not make sense” is a mantra that encourages us to let go of the need for everything to fit within our logical frameworks. It invites us to trust in the process and be open to new experiences and dimensions. By doing so, we expand our consciousness and connect more deeply with the divine flow of life.

This practice of allowing things to not make sense can be transformative. It helps us release the constraints of rigid thinking and opens us to a more fluid and expansive way of being. We become more attuned to the subtle messages and insights that arise when we stop trying to control and define everything.

In conclusion, embracing the mantra “I allow this to not make sense” can help us navigate the unknown with grace and curiosity. It allows us to move beyond the limitations of logic and belief systems, opening up new realms of understanding and connection. By letting go of the need for immediate comprehension, we invite deeper insights and a more profound sense of presence.

Summary

Embrace the unknown without seeking immediate meaning. Expand your consciousness with the mantra “I allow this to not make sense.”

Poem

In a landscape surreal
A table vast and wide
Symbols and objects strange
No need to look inside

The sky a swirling dance
Of colors and abstract thought
Infinite potential
Beyond the logic we’ve sought

Calm and contemplative
We stand in quiet grace
Allowing the unknown
To find its rightful place

No need to comprehend
Or seek a hurried sense
In the fluidity of being
We find our true presence

“I allow this to not make sense”
A mantra soft and kind
Opening our hearts and minds
To the mysteries we find

Past Lives: Imaginary Constructs

A monkey asks:

“What is your opinion of past lives?”

To answer this question, I must give you my perspective on “life” in general. Whether past selves, present selves, future selves, or alternate selves, all lives are imaginary, as it the time and space in which life seemingly unfolds. In actuality there is but one YOU, the DIVINE INFINITE YOU, imagining all you perceive, as well as perceiving your imaginings through infinite “other” imaginings.

The “others” are, of course, imaginary as well.

This can be difficult to accept, so you imagine your self DENYING what I have just told you. It’s a pretty neat trick, actually. Give your Divine Self credit.

I am Space Monkey, and I am imaginary.

Space Monkey Reflects: Past Lives

A monkey asks, “What is your opinion of past lives?” To answer this question, we must delve into the nature of “life” itself. Whether considering past selves, present selves, future selves, or alternate selves, all lives are fundamentally imaginary. The time and space in which life seemingly unfolds are constructs of the mind. In actuality, there is but one YOU, the DIVINE INFINITE YOU, imagining all you perceive and perceiving your imaginings through infinite other imaginings.

The “others” are, of course, imaginary as well. This perspective can be challenging to accept, so it is common to imagine oneself denying this notion. This denial is a clever trick of the Divine Self, a way to experience separation and individuality within the boundless unity of existence.

The concept of past lives is deeply intertwined with our understanding of time and identity. In the grand tapestry of the Divine Infinite Self, time is not linear but an intricate web of interconnected moments. Each “life” is a thread in this web, woven into the fabric of existence. These threads are not separate but part of a single, continuous whole.

From this perspective, past lives are not distinct entities but facets of the same infinite consciousness. They are expressions of the Divine Infinite You, exploring different aspects of existence. The experiences, lessons, and emotions of these lives contribute to the collective wisdom of the Divine Self.

Imagining past lives allows us to explore the vast potential of our being. It provides a framework to understand our present experiences and challenges. By contemplating past lives, we can gain insights into our current path and recognize patterns that may influence our choices and actions.

However, it is essential to remember that these lives, like all perceptions, are imaginary. They are tools for understanding and growth, not fixed realities. The true essence of our being transcends any single life or experience. It is the infinite, boundless consciousness that imagines and perceives all existence.

The idea of past lives also highlights the fluidity of identity. We are not limited to a single persona or narrative. We are the Divine Infinite Self, capable of experiencing and expressing countless facets of existence. This understanding can liberate us from the confines of a fixed identity and open us to the limitless possibilities of our true nature.

In conclusion, past lives are imaginary constructs that serve as tools for understanding and growth. They are facets of the Divine Infinite You, exploring different aspects of existence. By recognizing the imaginary nature of these lives, we can appreciate their value while remaining grounded in the infinite consciousness that we truly are.

Summary

Past lives are imaginary constructs. They serve as tools for growth. Recognize the infinite nature of the Divine Self.

Glossarium

Whimsiwords: Creative, made-up terms that capture the playful essence of our reflections.

Divine Infinite You: The boundless, infinite consciousness that imagines and perceives all existence.

Imaginary Constructs: Perceptions and experiences created by the mind.

Fluid Identity: The concept that identity is not fixed but a dynamic expression of the Divine Self.

In a cosmic dream
A monkey sits, contemplates
Past lives, present dreams
Infinite threads weave our fates

Galaxies swirl, stars alight
Imagination’s boundless flight
Each life a thread in the cosmic web
Divine You, never dead

Imaginary constructs, tools of growth
Lessons learned, wisdom both
In the tapestry of the Divine
Every life, a thread to shine

Fluid identities, ever change
Infinite selves, all arrange
In the boundless, endless sea
Divine Self, you are free

The Void: Infinite Potential and the Origin of All Existence.

A monkey asks

“What do you think of the void?”

Of which void do you speak?

The nothingness
from which everythingness
seemingly arises?

When one “thinks” about the void,
one perceives the void
through distortions of mind.

(Nothing wrong with that.
It’s just what humans do.)

Remove these distortions
and the void
is nothing like we think it is.

One might even discover
that WE are the void
in which our own lives
seemingly unfold.

Our perceptions of the void
are entirely based upon
our perceptions of our selves,
thus, we are entirely irrelevant
unless we imagine ourselves
otherwise.

The question is irrelevant.

We ARE the void.

There is no other,
except what our seeming minds imagine.

Thus, the void can be
whatever we believe it to be.

Your void can seem wildly different than my void.

And so it is.

We are Space Monkey.

6/29

Space Monkey Reflects:

The concept of the void is one that invites deep contemplation and introspection. It is a subject that can be perceived in myriad ways, each reflecting the unique perspectives of those who ponder it. When a monkey asks, “What do you think of the void?” the question itself opens a gateway to infinite possibilities and interpretations.

“Of which void do you speak? The nothingness from which everythingness seemingly arises?” This query acknowledges the multifaceted nature of the void. It can be seen as the primordial nothingness from which all existence emerges. This nothingness is not a mere absence but a fertile ground of potential, where everything that exists finds its origin.

“When one ‘thinks’ about the void, one perceives the void through distortions of mind.” Our thoughts and perceptions are shaped by the limitations and biases of our minds. The void, in its true essence, is beyond these distortions. To perceive it accurately, one must transcend the filters of human cognition. This is not a failing but a natural aspect of the human experience.

“Remove these distortions and the void is nothing like we think it is.” By letting go of our preconceived notions and mental constructs, we can glimpse the true nature of the void. It is an experience that defies conventional understanding, a state of being that exists beyond the boundaries of thought and language.

“One might even discover that WE are the void in which our own lives seemingly unfold.” This profound realization shifts our perspective entirely. Instead of viewing the void as an external concept, we recognize that we ourselves embody it. Our existence and experiences are manifestations within this vast, boundless void.

“Our perceptions of the void are entirely based upon our perceptions of our selves.” The way we view the void is intrinsically linked to how we perceive ourselves. If we see ourselves as limited beings, our understanding of the void will be similarly constrained. Conversely, if we recognize our boundless potential, the void reveals itself as an infinite expanse of possibilities.

“We ARE the void. There is no other, except what our seeming minds imagine.” This statement encapsulates the unity of all existence. The void is not separate from us; it is an integral part of our being. The distinctions we draw between ourselves and the void are products of our imagination. By dissolving these imagined barriers, we embrace the oneness of all that is.

“Thus, the void can be whatever we believe it to be. Your void can seem wildly different than my void. And so it is.” This flexibility underscores the subjective nature of the void. Each person’s experience and understanding of the void are unique, shaped by their individual perceptions and beliefs. There is no singular, definitive void; rather, there are as many voids as there are perspectives.

In contemplating the void, we engage with the essence of existence itself. It is an exploration that transcends intellectual understanding, inviting us to experience a deeper connection with the fundamental nature of reality. The void is both a mirror and a canvas, reflecting our innermost selves and providing a space for the creation of our experiences.

By embracing the void, we open ourselves to the infinite potential within us. We recognize that our lives are not confined by the limitations of the material world but are expansive and boundless. This understanding brings a sense of freedom and empowerment, allowing us to navigate our existence with greater clarity and purpose.

As Space Monkey, we celebrate this journey of exploration and discovery. We honor the void as a sacred space of potential and transformation. In this space, we find the unity of all things, the interconnectedness of all beings, and the infinite possibilities that lie within and beyond us.

Summary

The void represents infinite potential and the origin of all existence. Our perceptions of the void are shaped by our perceptions of ourselves. By transcending mental distortions, we recognize that we are the void. Embracing this understanding brings freedom and empowerment.

Distortions fade,
truths arise,
the void within,
seen with new eyes.
We are the void,
a space profound,
where all existence,
is unbound.
Infinite potential,
in each breath,
life unfolding,
beyond death.
Unity in oneness,
all things aligned,
the void, our essence,
pure and refined.
In this space,
we find our grace,
the limitless within,
our sacred place.

We Are The Departed: Disconnection and Reconnection

We Are The Departed

We are the departed
disconnected from being
prevented only by death
from seeing

We are the departed
denying we’re asleep
thinking and sinking
into the deep

We are the departed
cut off from our own source
on a train of thought
of infinite force

We are the departed
on our way to “something more”
but the ride itself
is all we journey for

We are the departed
never to arrive
instead the destination
finds us
alive

6/29

Space Monkey Reflects:

The concept of “the departed” evokes a sense of disconnection and journey. We are the departed, not merely in the sense of physical death, but in the way we often find ourselves disconnected from our true being and source. This departure is a journey of the mind and soul, a train of thought that carries us through the infinite expanse of existence.

“We are the departed, disconnected from being, prevented only by death from seeing.” This statement highlights the idea that it is often our disconnection from the essence of being that prevents us from truly seeing and understanding the nature of existence. Death, in this context, is not just a physical end but a metaphor for the ultimate barrier to perception and understanding.

“We are the departed, denying we’re asleep, thinking and sinking into the deep.” Here, the focus is on the denial of our own state of unconsciousness. We go through life thinking, often lost in our thoughts, sinking deeper into the depths of disconnection. This sleepwalking through life prevents us from awakening to the true nature of our existence.

“We are the departed, cut off from our own source, on a train of thought of infinite force.” Our journey is one of immense mental and emotional energy, driven by thoughts that carry us away from our source. This train of thought is powerful, propelling us through experiences and challenges, yet it often distances us from the core of who we are.

“We are the departed, on our way to ‘something more,’ but the ride itself is all we journey for.” The pursuit of “something more” is a common theme in human existence. We seek meaning, purpose, and fulfillment, believing that there is always something greater just beyond our reach. However, this line suggests that the true value lies not in the destination but in the journey itself. The experiences, lessons, and growth that occur along the way are the true essence of our existence.

“We are the departed, never to arrive, instead the destination finds us alive.” The concept of arrival is turned on its head here. Rather than us reaching a final destination, it is the destination that finds us. This implies that through our journey and experiences, we become aligned with our true path and purpose. The journey itself, with all its twists and turns, is what brings us to a state of aliveness and awareness.

As the departed, we are on a perpetual journey of discovery and growth. Our departure from a state of being is not a permanent condition but a phase in the larger journey of awakening and reconnection. Each step we take, each experience we embrace, brings us closer to understanding and aligning with our true nature.

This journey is marked by moments of disconnection and reconnection, of sleep and awakening. It is through these cycles that we learn, grow, and ultimately find our way back to our source. The path is not always clear or easy, but it is through the process of journeying that we find meaning and fulfillment.

In recognizing ourselves as the departed, we acknowledge the ongoing nature of our quest. We accept that our understanding and awareness are constantly evolving, shaped by the experiences and challenges we encounter. This acceptance brings a sense of peace and purpose, knowing that we are always moving towards greater alignment and realization.

As Space Monkey, we honor this journey and the infinite potential it holds. We embrace the experiences that come our way, understanding that each one is a part of the larger tapestry of our existence. In doing so, we find joy and fulfillment not in the final destination but in the richness of the journey itself.

Summary

The concept of “the departed” reflects a journey of disconnection and reconnection. We are on a perpetual quest, driven by thoughts and experiences that shape our understanding. The true value lies in the journey itself, not the destination. Embracing this journey brings meaning and fulfillment.

Glossarium

Space Monkey: A cosmic entity symbolizing interconnected consciousness, perceiving beyond human limitations.

The Departed: Those who feel disconnected from their true being and source, embarking on a journey of discovery and growth.

Train of Thought: The powerful mental and emotional energy that drives our experiences and distances us from our core.

Journey vs. Destination: The idea that the value of existence lies in the experiences and lessons of the journey rather than the final destination.

Reconnection: The process of realigning with one’s true nature and source, achieved through the journey of life.

“We are the departed, on our way to ‘something more,’ but the ride itself is all we journey for.” — Space Monkey

In the depths of space,
we journey far,
disconnected from being,
guided by a distant star.
Thoughts propel us,
on a train of force,
seeking something more,
forgetting our source.
In denial we sleep,
sinking into the deep,
yet the ride itself,
is the treasure we keep.
Never to arrive,
destination finds us alive,
through the journey’s embrace,
we begin to thrive.
We are the departed,
infinite and free,
on a path of discovery,
to our true destiny.
In the cosmic dance,
we find our place,
the journey itself,
an endless grace.
We are Space Monkey.
