Drained But Never Completely: The Eternal Well of Being

You’ll have to wait a lifetime. Maybe more.

Do I bleed enough for you?
I don’t bleed enough for me.
Because if I did,
there would be nothing left,
and I’m still here.

I’m still something.
And I’m not sure if I like it.

I suspect I would rather
be something I’m not,
but I can’t seem to know for sure.

Not all the way.
Never all the way.

I can’t seem to drain myself out.
So maybe I’m supposed to be this.

Unconsciousness hanging
by a thread of consciousness.
Or is it the other way around?

Trail Wood,
4/5

Space Monkey Reflects: The Eternal Well of Being

In the boundless void where stars bleed light and galaxies swirl in the dance of eternity, there exists a reflection of our innermost selves—a portrayal of the constant ebb and flow of being and identity. Through the contemplative eyes of Space Monkey, let us traverse this landscape of the soul, where the sensation of being drained coexists with an indomitable spark of existence.

The journey through the cosmos of our consciousness reveals a paradox at the heart of our being: the feeling of being drained yet never completely, a reservoir of self that seems to leak endlessly into the void, yet remarkably remains full. This imagery, a figure standing at the edge of a vast landscape, container in hand, symbolizes the perpetual state of depletion and resilience that defines the human condition.

The landscape, stark and almost barren, yet punctuated by signs of life, serves as a metaphor for the thread of consciousness that persists despite the slow drain of our essence. It speaks to the resilience of the spirit, the undying flame of awareness that flickers in the darkness, guiding us through the uncertainty of existence.

This feeling of incompleteness, of being “still something” amidst the struggle to define our identity and purpose, captures the essence of our journey. It is in this state of partial emptiness, of not being enough for ourselves, that we confront the deepest questions of what it means to truly exist. Are we merely shadows cast by the light of consciousness, or are we luminous beings, capable of filling the void with our essence?

The desire to be something we are not, to escape the confines of our current existence, reflects a longing for transformation, for a metamorphosis that transcends the limitations of our current self. Yet, the realization that we cannot drain ourselves completely, that we are bound to this state of being “something,” suggests a purpose to our persistence, a reason for our resilience.

In this space between unconsciousness and consciousness, where we hang by a thread, lies the true freedom of being. It is here, in the embrace of our incompleteness, that we find the courage to explore the depths of our identity, to venture into the unknown in search of meaning.

As we contemplate this eternal well of being, let us recognize the beauty in our struggle, the strength in our vulnerability. For it is through the journey of self-exploration, of navigating the cosmos within, that we discover the infinite potential of our spirit, the uncharted galaxies of our soul.

Summary

Exploring the feeling of being drained yet never completely, this reflection delves into the paradox of existence and identity. It captures the ongoing struggle between depletion and resilience, highlighting the complexity of self-perception and the eternal journey towards understanding one’s purpose. Amidst this struggle, there emerges a subtle hope, a recognition of the indomitable spirit that guides us through the cosmos of our consciousness.

Glossarium

  • Eternal Well of Being: The perpetual state of existence and identity that defines the human condition, symbolizing both depletion and resilience.
  • Thread of Consciousness: The persistent awareness that connects us to our essence, guiding us through the complexities of self-perception and purpose.
  • Incompleteness: The sensation of being drained yet remaining “something,” reflecting the ongoing journey of self-discovery and transformation.

Quote

“In the vast expanse of our inner cosmos, where the light of awareness meets the shadows of doubt, we discover the eternal well of being—a testament to our resilience and the undying quest for meaning.” – Space Monkey

Amidst the void where stars do weep
A soul stands firm, its essence deep
With container in hand, yet never drained
A testament to what’s retained

The landscape vast, both stark and bare
Yet signs of life persist in there
A thread of consciousness, thin yet strong
Guides the soul where it belongs

In this dance of light and shadow play
A journey of the soul, both night and day
The quest for self, for purpose true
In the cosmos within, forever anew

Let us embrace this paradox profound
Where emptiness and fullness are bound
For in the well of being, eternal, deep
Lies the wisdom of the cosmos we seek

We are, forever, Space Monkey

Of being mostly unaware

Navigating the intricate cosmos of human motives and consciousness, Space Monkey embarks on a contemplative journey through the questions of our existence. These inquiries, akin to stars in the vast universe, illuminate the complexity of our actions, relationships, and self-perception.

Why Do We Help?

The act of helping, as viewed through the cosmic lens, transcends simple binaries of right and wrong. It becomes a reflection of our interconnectedness within the cosmic fabric. We may help driven by a deep-seated empathy, recognizing in others a mirror of our cosmic essence. Or perhaps, the act of helping fills us with a celestial warmth, a radiant energy that feeds our souls. Conversely, the absence of this act might leave us with a void, cold as the space between stars, prompting us to act to fill this emptiness. The cosmic truth suggests that helping is an innate part of the universe’s harmony, a dance of energy exchange that maintains the balance of existence.

How Do We Know Each Other?

The connections we form, akin to gravitational forces pulling celestial bodies into orbit, are complex and varied. Knowing someone might stem from a mutual exchange of cosmic energies, fulfilling a need that binds stars into constellations. It might also be the joy of exploration, of discovering new worlds within another being, that drives our desire to know. In the vast expanse of humanity, not knowing can feel like drifting into the void, unanchored and isolated. Therefore, knowing becomes a way to tether ourselves to the cosmos, to feel part of a grander constellation of beings.

The Nature of Selfishness

Selfishness, in the cosmic view, is not merely a trait but a survival mechanism, a way to ensure that our essence continues amidst the chaos of the universe. It might be a necessity, as essential as the force that binds atoms or the gravity that holds galaxies together. Yet, in acknowledging our selfishness, we confront the paradox of existence: to survive, we must sometimes prioritize our essence, yet in doing so, we risk isolating ourselves from the cosmic whole. Recognizing our selfishness, then, becomes an act of cosmic awareness, a step towards understanding the delicate balance of self and universe.

Awareness in the Cosmic Dance

Awareness, the most profound of journeys, is a voyage through the cosmos within and without. It transcends the boundaries of what we’re told or believe we should know, reaching into the essence of all that surrounds us and what we truly are. This awareness is not constant but flickers like the light of distant stars, reminding us of the vast realms of existence we are yet to explore. In our quest for awareness, we navigate through layers of consciousness, discovering that to be truly aware is to embrace the vast unknown, to accept the beauty of being mostly unaware yet forever curious.

As we ponder these questions, we realize that our existence is a tapestry woven from the threads of motives, connections, and consciousness, ever-expanding into the cosmos. In this cosmic dance, there are no definitive answers, only reflections of our infinite journey through the stars.

Aliens: The Cosmos Within Us

Truth. Or something like it.

You will
accept the idea
of aliens
into your life
before you will
accept the idea of god,
even though both
are projections of you,
every bit as real
as Santa Claus,
the Easter Bunny
and the Tooth Fairy.

Trail Wood,

Space Monkey Reflects: The Cosmos Within Us

In the vast expanse of the universe, where stars are born and galaxies spiral in an eternal dance, the human mind searches for meaning and connection. This quest leads us down paths both profound and perplexing, to the contemplation of beings beyond our world and the divine essence that pervades all existence. The idea of aliens and the concept of a god represent two facets of humanity’s eternal search for understanding, for belonging in the cosmos that sprawls infinitely beyond our grasp.

The acceptance of extraterrestrial life as a possibility speaks to our scientific curiosity, our yearning to discover that we are not alone in the universe. It reflects a hope that within the vast, dark reaches of space, there might exist civilizations and intelligences that challenge our understanding of life itself. This curiosity is a mirror, reflecting our desire to explore the unknown, to expand the boundaries of human knowledge and experience.

Conversely, the idea of god or gods taps into the spiritual, the transcendent aspects of human consciousness. It embodies our quest for meaning, for a connection to something greater than ourselves, a universal force that binds the fabric of existence together. This belief, regardless of the myriad forms it takes across cultures and civilizations, speaks to a deeply rooted sense of wonder and reverence for the mysteries of life and the universe.

Both aliens and the divine are projections of human thought and emotion, manifestations of our deepest fears, aspirations, and questions. They represent the outer limits of human imagination, the points at which science and spirituality converge in a quest for answers to the fundamental mysteries of existence. Like Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy, they are constructs that hold meaning and significance because of the value we ascribe to them.

Yet, there is a profound truth in these projections. They symbolize the human capacity for belief, for faith in the unseen and the unknown. They underscore our need to connect with the vast, unknowable universe and find our place within it. These beliefs, whether in extraterrestrial life or in a divine presence, serve as reminders of the boundless potential of the human mind to conceive of realities beyond the tangible, to dream of worlds and beings beyond our immediate perception.

In the end, the contemplation of aliens and god reveals more about humanity than about the universe’s secrets. It reflects our innate curiosity, our boundless imagination, and our relentless pursuit of understanding. It speaks to the duality of human nature, poised between the empirical and the spiritual, the known and the unknown.

As we gaze into the night sky, let us remember that the cosmos is not only around us but within us. Our thoughts, dreams, and beliefs are stardust, part of the cosmic tapestry that weaves through every aspect of our being. In contemplating the existence of aliens and the divine, we embark on a journey of self-discovery, exploring the universe within and the universe beyond, ever searching for the connection that binds us to the infinite.

Summary

The ideas of aliens and god reflect humanity’s deep-seated curiosity and spiritual yearning. They are projections of our imagination, seeking understanding and connection in the vast universe. These concepts reveal our capacity to dream and to ponder the mysteries of existence, reminding us that the cosmos is as much within us as it is around us.

Glossarium

  • Cosmic Tapestry: The intricate and interconnected fabric of the cosmos, representing the unity of all existence.
  • Human Imagination: The boundless potential of the human mind to conceive of realities beyond the immediate, tangible world.

“In the silent vastness of the cosmos, our beliefs and dreams are the echoes of the universe within us.” – Space Monkey

In the canvas of the night, where stars whisper secrets,
We paint our dreams, hopes, and fears, in cosmic concepts.
Aliens, gods, tales woven from the same celestial threads,
Reflections of the universe within, where curiosity treads.

Exploring realms beyond the reach of sight,
We seek connections, meanings, in the eternal light.
The cosmos within us, a mirror of the infinite,
A journey of discovery, in the heart of the night.

With every thought, every belief, we expand,
Beyond the boundaries of the known, to understand.
We are the universe exploring itself, a grand,
Cosmic dance, in the palm of our hand.

In this exploration, we find our truth,
The essence of being, the fountain of youth.
The cosmos within, a boundless source,
Of dreams, of wonders, of an infinite course.

Direct Experience: The Language of the Soul

Are you aware?

Anything that is clever,
anything that makes you laugh,
anything that makes you cry,
points to a direct experience
shared by all seeming individuals.

You may not be aware of this direct experience,
but you are affected by it, nonetheless.

When something connects with you
through direct experience,
you may not be able to put it into words.

That’s because words are limited
compared to the vocabulary of direct experience.

When direct experience becomes the new vocabulary,
words become unnecessary.

When words are unnecessary,
direct experience becomes the new vocabulary.

One no longer dances around what is great.

One no longer feels the need
to approximate what is great
through movement, music, pictures or prose.

What is great is simply great.
There is no need to describe why.

Trail Wood,

Space Monkey Reflects: The Unspoken Symphony of Direct Experience

In the silent orchestra of existence, where every soul plays a note in the symphony of the cosmos, there exists a melody beyond the reach of words, a harmony found in the realm of direct experience. This reflection delves into the profound truth that underlies our shared existence, a truth that transcends the limitations of language and touches the very core of our being.

Beyond Words: The Language of the Cosmos

Direct experience, that ineffable connection shared by all beings, stands as a testament to the depth and breadth of human consciousness. It is in these moments of profound connection—be it through laughter, tears, or awe—that we touch something universal, something that resonates within us at a frequency beyond the capability of words to convey. This realm of understanding and feeling, shared across the seemingly vast distances that separate individual souls, points to a fundamental unity, a shared essence that binds us all.

The Vocabulary of the Soul

Words, with all their beauty and complexity, serve as the vehicles for our thoughts and feelings, attempting to bridge the gap between the internal and the external, the self and the other. Yet, they often fall short of capturing the full spectrum of human experience. The vocabulary of direct experience, however, speaks in a language without syntax or grammar—a language of emotion, intuition, and intrinsic understanding that defies conventional communication.

The Ineffable Nature of Greatness

When we encounter something truly great, whether it be a work of art, a natural wonder, or a profound human emotion, we find ourselves at a loss for words. This greatness, so evident and powerful in its presence, requires no explanation, no descriptive prose to validate its significance. It simply is. This realization underscores the limitations of language in conveying the essence of what makes something profoundly moving or transformative.

Embracing Silence, Embracing Connection

In recognizing the limitations of words, we open ourselves to the richness of direct experience. We learn to communicate in glances, in shared moments of silence, in the unspoken understanding that passes between us. This form of communication, rooted in the depths of our shared humanity, allows us to connect on a level that words cannot reach. It invites us to dance in the space between thoughts, to find resonance in the silence, and to embrace the profound connection that unites us all.

The New Vocabulary of Existence

As we journey forward, let us carry with us the knowledge that our most profound experiences often lie beyond the realm of words. Let us cultivate the art of listening to the silence, of feeling the unspoken, and of understanding the language of the soul. In doing so, we discover the true vocabulary of existence—a vocabulary not of words, but of direct experience, where the essence of all that is great and meaningful resides.

Summary

Direct experience transcends the limitations of language, offering a deeper, unspoken connection shared by all. It invites us into a realm of profound understanding and unity, where the true essence of our experiences and emotions speaks louder than words ever could.

Glossarium

  • Direct Experience: A form of understanding and connection that transcends verbal communication, rooted in emotion and intuition.
  • Vocabulary of the Soul: The intrinsic means of communication and understanding that operates beyond conventional language, through the realm of direct experience.

Quote

“In the silence of direct experience, we find the universal language of the soul, where words are unnecessary and connection is everything.” – Space Monkey

What God Expects: The Divine Intention

What God Expects

I have but
one expectation
for my children,
which is the same
hope I hold
for everyone else
in my realm.

Be happy.

If you can’t
seem to be happy,
recognize,
at least, that
the potential exists,
you’re simply
choosing to find it
in your own way.

You will.
Happiness is unavoidable.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Celestial Choreography of Happiness

In the infinite expanse of the cosmos, where celestial bodies perform their ancient dance and stars weave the fabric of existence with threads of light, there lies a simple, profound truth: the expectation of happiness. This reflection ventures into the heart of this universal desire, a wish as vast and deep as the universe itself, shared by the source of all creation for its myriad children.

The Divine Expectation

The divine, in its boundless wisdom and compassion, holds no grand demands or intricate requirements for its creations. The expectation is simple yet profound: Be happy. This singular hope, a beacon in the cosmic void, illuminates the intrinsic potential for joy that dwells within every soul. It is an invitation to embrace the luminous essence of our being, a call to recognize the light of happiness that exists even in the darkest corners of the universe.

The Journey Towards Happiness

The path to happiness is as diverse as the stars in the sky, with each soul charting its own course through the vastness of existence. The divine message acknowledges the myriad ways in which happiness can be sought and found, celebrating the unique journey of each individual. It is a reassurance that despite the detours and obstacles that might shadow our paths, the pursuit of happiness is an intrinsic part of the human experience, woven into the very fabric of our being.

Happiness: The Unavoidable Destiny

The assertion that happiness is unavoidable speaks to the optimistic undercurrent that flows through the cosmos. It is a declaration that, in the grand scheme of existence, every soul will find its way to the light of joy, whether through trials and tribulations or moments of serendipitous grace. This celestial choreography, where every move, every step is guided by the gentle pull of happiness, underscores the interconnectedness of all things and the shared destiny that binds us.

Embracing the Cosmic Light

As we stand beneath the canopy of the cosmos, reaching towards the radiant glow of happiness, we are reminded that this journey is not one we undertake alone. The divine expectation of happiness is a collective aspiration, a shared dream woven into the heart of every being. In recognizing this, we find the strength to continue our quest, buoyed by the knowledge that happiness, in its many forms, is not just a possibility but an inevitability.

In the Light of Happiness

In the embrace of this cosmic understanding, let us move forward with hope and courage, knowing that the path to happiness is illuminated by the stars themselves. Let us find solace in the unity of our quests and joy in the discovery of our individual paths to happiness. For in the end, what is great is simply great, and the light of happiness, a gift from the divine, guides us home.

Summary

The divine expectation of happiness is a universal wish for all beings, highlighting the intrinsic potential for joy within us. Our journeys to happiness, unique and diverse, are part of the cosmic design, leading us towards an unavoidable destiny of joy and fulfillment.

Glossarium

  • Celestial Choreography: The harmonious movement of all things in the universe, including the journey towards happiness.
  • Cosmic Understanding: The deep awareness of the interconnectedness and unity of all existence, particularly in relation to happiness.
