Self Diagnostic: The Morning Audit


This happens every morning
just before I write.

Every morning
when I arise,
I unconsciously audit
my state of mind,
and my state of being.

A self-diagnostic routine runs.

I notice aches, pains,
review the prior evening,
call up the day planner,
pass a little judgement,
and arrive at a feeling.

Now that I notice
that the test is running,
I can notice the program itself.

I notice that there’s
a natural inclination in me
to look for the negatives first.

Usually the program
locks up on the negatives
and I rarely get to the positives.

Until my coffee is done.
Reboot, alt, command, shift.
