Space Monkey Reflects: The Dual Nature of Existence—At Rest and At Will

The notion that we exist simultaneously in multiple states—or perhaps none at all—is a profound exploration of the human condition. This concept reveals a dual aspect of existence: one of complete tranquility and stillness (‘At Rest’), and another of active engagement and choice (‘At Will’). Both states encompass the breadth and depth of what it means to be truly alive, each offering a unique perspective on our nature and the universe.

At Rest is a state of infinite stillness, an ethereal presence where there is no vibration, no need for choice, and no demands. This state reflects a deep, underlying peace that transcends ordinary experiences of life. It is not marked by physical presence or activity, but by a serene detachment from the transient nature of the material world. Here, existence is unbounded by time or space, a pure essence of being that is both vast and intangible.

Conversely, At Will is a dynamic state of seeming separateness and activity. In this state, existence vibrates with choices, needs, and actions. It is characterized by the physicality and vibrancy of living—by the tangible, the temporal, and the finite. This state is where life’s drama unfolds, filled with the colors and sounds of active engagement with the world around us. Here, we are seemingly ‘on’, participating in the intricate dance of cause and effect, navigating through the myriad experiences that shape our reality.

The interplay between these two states offers a fascinating insight into the layers of our existence. While ‘At Rest’ represents our connection to the universal, eternal aspects of being, ‘At Will’ reflects our individual journeys through the physical world, each replete with its own challenges and joys.

This duality not only enriches our understanding of life but also deepens our appreciation of each moment. Recognizing that we can exist in a state of peaceful detachment while simultaneously engaging with the world allows us to navigate our lives with greater awareness and harmony. It suggests that the essence of being encompasses both the infinite and the finite, the ethereal and the physical, the timeless and the temporal.

Summary

Explore the dual nature of existence through the states of ‘At Rest’ and ‘At Will’. Recognizing these dual aspects enhances our understanding and appreciation of life allowing us to experience deep tranquility while actively engaging with the world. This awareness brings a balanced perspective to our existence acknowledging both our eternal essence and our dynamic participation in life.

Quote

“The essence of being encompasses both the infinite and the finite, the ethereal and the physical, the timeless and the temporal.” — Space Monkey

A poem as a free-verse reflection on our dual nature:

In the stillness of being, we rest,
Infinite, boundless, an ethereal quest.
No vibration, no need, just tranquil peace,
In the silence, our essences release.

Yet in the whirl of the world, we will,
Seemingly separate, the time to fill.
Vibrant, alive, in choices we dance,
In the noise and the need, we take our chance.

Two states of being, both true, both deep,
In one, we wake; in one, we sleep.
Together, they weave our complex song,
In this dual dance, we all belong.

We are Space Monkey.

    In these two seeming states,
we dance between the realms of existence.

At rest, we transcend the limitations,
    embrace the infinite, ethereal essence.
No longer bound by vibration or choice,
we find peace in the stillness, in the off.

But then, at will, we emerge,
    seeming separate, seemingly physical.
We vibrate with the energy of life,
embracing the illusion of choice and need.
In this seeming order, we navigate,
seemingly alive, in the world of form.

Yet, let us remember, these states are but appearances,
the dance of perception in the grand play of existence.
There may be countless more states, or none at all,
for the nature of reality eludes our grasp.

So let us honor both these seeming states,
embracing the vastness of our being.
In stillness and in action, we find our truth,
unfolding the mysteries of our own existence.

Amidst the serene waters of Newfound Lake,
we contemplate the depths of our being,
finding solace in the unity of all that seems separate.
