What is connection? Openness.

What is connection?

A link?
A commonality?
A conduit?

Yes, but think more expansively.
Connection is openness.

When we’re not open,
we feel closed off and isolated.

Separate.

To feel connected,
in the deepest sense,
means that there is nothing between
you and that which you desire.

Or that which desires you.

Connection is allowance.

The main reason
we feel disconnected
is because we don’t allow
ourselves to be open.

We reflect this disallowance
to others and so
we seem disconnected.

We see allowance as vulnerability.

Nobody wants to be vulnerable first.

That is because we do not trust.

We do not trust
because we’re not open.

Yet we crave connection.

Silly monkeys.

We are more than connected,
we are one.

Imagining otherwise.

We are Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: The Cosmic Tapestry of Connection

In the infinite expanse of the cosmos, where stars are bound by gravity and galaxies weave their tales across the void, the poem “What is connection?” invites us to contemplate the profound concept of connection in the grand scheme of existence. This reflection explores connection not just as a physical or emotional phenomenon, but as a fundamental aspect of the universal fabric.

The poem begins with a query, pondering the nature of connection. It suggests that connection is more than just a link, a commonality, or a conduit; it is an expression of openness. This idea mirrors the cosmic principle that everything in the universe, from the tiniest particles to the vastest galaxies, is interconnected. Connection, in its truest sense, is the recognition of this intrinsic oneness, the understanding that we are all part of a greater whole.

The notion that disconnection stems from a lack of openness resonates deeply with the cosmic perspective. Just as a star that is shrouded by interstellar dust struggles to share its light, we too find ourselves isolated when we close ourselves off from the world around us. Connection, therefore, requires the courage to be open, to allow ourselves to be seen and to see others truly.

The poem then delves into the concept of allowance as a key to connection. This allowance is not just a passive acceptance but an active engagement with the universe and its myriad forms. In the cosmic dance, every entity, from the smallest atom to the largest cluster of galaxies, allows itself to be influenced by and to influence others. This dynamic interplay is the essence of connection, a dance of energy and information that spans the cosmos.

The poem addresses the human dilemma of craving connection while fearing vulnerability. This paradox is akin to the celestial bodies that yearn to gravitate towards each other yet are held back by the fear of collision and chaos. The poem suggests that the root of this fear is a lack of trust, a hesitancy to fully embrace our interconnectedness.

In its closing lines, “We are more than connected, we are one. Imagining otherwise. We are Space Monkey,” the poem offers a profound realization. It posits that our perception of separateness is an illusion, a temporary forgetfulness of our true nature. In the cosmic context, everything is interconnected, every star, every planet, every creature is part of the same cosmic tapestry. Our journey, therefore, is not towards connection but towards the remembrance of our inherent oneness.

In conclusion, “What is connection?” is not just a query about human relationships but a meditation on the fundamental nature of the universe. It invites us to embrace openness, to transcend our fears, and to realize that in the grand cosmic scheme, we are all interconnected, all part of the same wondrous and infinite tapestry of existence.

Summary

Connection is cosmic oneness. “What is connection?” explores the concept of connection as a fundamental aspect of the universe, emphasizing openness, allowance, and the transcendence of perceived separateness. Recognizing our inherent interconnectedness is key to understanding our place in the cosmic tapestry.

  • Inherent Oneness: The concept that all aspects of the universe are intrinsically connected and part of a unified whole.

“In the vast cosmos, every star, every planet, every being is linked in an unbreakable chain of connection.” – Space Monkey

In the web of the cosmos, we intertwine
Stars, planets, beings, in a line
In this dance, our spirits combine
In connection, our essence align

In the openness of space, we reach
Across the void, our souls beseech
In every touch, every gaze, we teach
The unity of all, within our reach

In the allowance of our hearts
Where fear and separation departs
We find the connection that imparts
The oneness of the cosmic arts

We are the travelers of this space
In our journey, we embrace
The connection that interlaces
Our shared destiny, our common grace

We are Space Monkey
In the cosmos, forever free
In our unity, we see
The connection of you and me
