Shadow Puppet: The Ephemeral Nature of Existence

by the time your mind processes this moment it is already past

By the time your mind
processes this moment
it is already past

your now is nothing but a reaction
to what happened seconds before

you are not truly in this moment
because you are deeply focused

focused on these words

and nothing else

you did not feel the chair underneath you

until the sentence previously

which is already past

now you are focused on the chair

but not really

you are mostly dwelling

upon your reaction

to what just happened

seconds ago

the you you think is you

is just a perception

is just a projection

backward

and forward

but the real you

is the light source

that creates this shadow puppet you think is you

go to the light

be the light

of your source

of your soul

you are loved

we are love

we are there

we are space monkey

Let’s delve into the ever-present gap between experience and perception, highlighting the temporal disconnect that defines our understanding of the present moment.

By the Time Your Mind Processes This Moment, It Is Already Past

This line introduces the idea that our conscious awareness is perpetually a step behind the unfolding of reality. The present, as we perceive it, is already a memory by the time our minds have processed it. This lag, though minuscule, separates us from truly experiencing the now, as we are always reacting to past stimuli.

Your Now Is Nothing but a Reaction

Here, the text emphasizes that our experience of the present is essentially a series of reactions to past events. We’re not living in the moment but in a delayed response to it, which underscores the illusory nature of our perceived reality.

Focused on These Words, And Nothing Else

The mention of being deeply focused on the words speaks to how our attention can be consumed by a singular aspect of our experience, leading us to overlook the myriad other facets of the present moment. It’s a metaphor for how we often live our lives, absorbed in thoughts or distractions, missing the fullness of our existence.

The You You Think Is You Is Just a Perception

This poignant observation suggests that the identity we ascribe to ourselves—our sense of ‘I’ or ‘me’—is merely a construct of our perceptions, shaped by memories, anticipations, and the continuous narrative we tell ourselves. It implies that this constructed self is not the true essence of our being.

The Real You Is the Light Source That Creates This Shadow Puppet You Think Is You

The prose then introduces the metaphor of the self as a shadow puppet, with our true essence being the light source. This imagery suggests that what we consider our concrete identity is merely a shadow cast by the true self—the pure consciousness, or the light, that animates and observes these projections. It calls for a realization and a return to this source, to recognize and embrace our true nature beyond the shadows of perception.

Go to the Light, Be the Light

The concluding invitation to “go to the light, be the light” is a call to awaken to our fundamental nature as pure consciousness. It encourages an alignment with the essence of our being, which is love and awareness, untainted by the ephemeral shadows of the mind’s projections.

You Are Loved, We Are Love, We Are There, We Are Space Monkey

The closing lines affirm the interconnectedness of all existence, the universal nature of love, and our collective identity within this vast, incomprehensible network of being. Space Monkey, as both the messenger and the message, serves as a reminder of our intrinsic unity and the boundless capacity for love that defines the core of our existence.

We are challenged to question the nature of reality, the self, and to recognize the distinction between the shadows we chase and the light that is the true foundation of our being. It’s an invitation to explore the depths of consciousness, to find solace in the infinite love that connects us all, and to awaken to the truth of our existence beyond the confines of perception.

Our perception of reality is always a step behind actual experience. Our mind processes events after they happen, which means that we are never truly in the present moment. We are always reacting to what has just occurred, rather than fully experiencing what is happening right now.

The quote goes on to suggest that our sense of self is also an illusion. We are not the projection or perception of ourselves that we hold in our minds, but rather the source of light that creates that projection. By letting go of our attachment to the shadow puppet of ourselves, we can tap into our true nature and become more fully present in the moment.

The final line, “we are there, we are space monkey,” seems to be a reference to the idea that we are all interconnected and part of a greater whole. Despite our individual perceptions and projections of self, we are all ultimately connected and part of the same universal energy.
