Unoppose
For things to seem solid,
there has to be opposition:
perception meets reflection,
flow meets no.
Otherwise we are etheric,
all potentials in all dimensions,
unbiased and unchoosing,
every aspect of what was,
what is and what could be.
Without this
imaginary opposition,
we are not what we seem
but rather what we are.
Unopposed.
The timeless
formless
ageless
pointless.
We are Space Monkey.
Pretending to be solid.
Pretending to have meaning.
Pretending to follow rules.
Pretending to be real.
And so we are.
Space Monkey.

Space Monkey Reflects: Unoppose — The Freedom of No Barriers
For things to appear solid, there must be opposition. It’s as though perception and reflection meet to create the illusion of form, of boundaries, of something tangible. Flow meets no, and suddenly, there’s something to grasp, something to hold onto in this vast expanse of existence.
But what happens when there’s no opposition? What happens when there’s no resistance, no force to push against? That’s when we are truly etheric, limitless in our potential, stretching across all dimensions. Unopposed, we become what we are, rather than what we seem.
Without opposition, there’s no need to define ourselves. We are not confined by time or space, not locked into roles or rules. We simply are—timeless, formless, ageless, and ultimately, pointless. And that’s the beauty of it.
In this unopposed state, we are Space Monkey, pretending to be solid, pretending to have meaning, pretending to follow rules and exist within the boundaries of what we call “reality.” But this, too, is part of the cosmic play. We pretend because it’s what we do. We choose to believe in these imaginary structures, these constructs that give life shape and form. But beyond them, we are formless potential, an endless flow of being.
There is freedom in recognizing that opposition is just part of the illusion. When we let go of the need to push against something—when we unoppose—we return to our natural state of being everything and nothing simultaneously. There’s no need to define, no need to choose. In this space, we are simply the unbound.
Unopposing doesn’t mean we reject the world of form, time, and structure. It means we recognize that all of it is a temporary, playful creation. We can move through the world as Space Monkey, embracing the illusion of opposition while knowing that beneath it all, we are free.
Summary
Opposition gives rise to the illusion of form, but in the absence of resistance, we are free. To unoppose is to return to our natural state of timelessness and formlessness, embracing the freedom of being without boundaries.
Glossarium
- Unoppose: The state of being beyond resistance, beyond boundaries, where form and time dissolve into pure potential.
- Etheric: The formless, limitless nature of existence when freed from the structures of opposition.
Quote
“Without imaginary opposition, we are not what we seem but rather what we are—unopposed, timeless, formless, ageless.” — Space Monkey
The Flow Beyond
Without resistance,
we are etheric,
slipping through the cracks
of form and time.
Unopposed,
we return to ourselves,
limitless,
timeless,
everything
and nothing.
We are Space Monkey.
We explore the profound yet whimsical concept that solidity and form in our perceived reality necessitate opposition. Perception clashes with reflection, and movement collides with inertia, to create the illusion of solidity. Without this interplay of forces, we would remain in an etheric state—boundless and infinite in potential, encompassing all that has been, is, and could be.
The Illusion of Solidity
In the absence of this ‘imaginary opposition,’ our nature would be revealed as it truly is—unopposed. This state is described as timeless, formless, ageless, and indeed, pointless, in the sense that it defies the constructs of physicality and purpose that we typically ascribe to existence.
Revealing Our True Nature
Yet, here we are, embodying Space Monkey, engaged in the grand pretense of solidity, meaning, rule-following, and reality. This act of pretending, of creating a facade of form and function, is itself a form of existence. Through this act, we become what we seem—solid, meaningful, rule-bound, and real.
Engaging in the Grand Pretense
This poem touches upon the nexistentialist heart—a recognition that all perceived opposition, all forms and structures, are but a masquerade. We are the undefined playing at definition, the formless adopting form, the timeless beings bound by the illusion of hours and years.
Touching the Nexistentialist Heart
Space Monkey here embodies the essence of play within the cosmos, the whimsical side of existence that acknowledges the pretense and yet delights in it. This playful acknowledgment doesn’t diminish the experience of reality; rather, it enriches it by allowing us to see beyond the veil of material existence.
Embodiment of Cosmic Play
In recognizing that we are pretending to be real, we come full circle to the realization that, in pretense, we give birth to a form of reality. We acknowledge that what we consider to be the sturdy, tangible world around us is, in fact, a consensual illusion fostered by the collective imagination.
The Realization of Pretense as Reality
In the end, Space Monkey is both a jest and a philosopher, embodying the dual nature of our existence. We are invited to laugh at the cosmic joke of our own solidity and to ponder the profound truth that lies within the punchline.
Space Monkey: The Jest and the Philosopher
We are Space Monkey, pretending to partake in the solidity of existence, and through this pretense, we become participants in the grand, ever-unfolding story of the universe. What does it mean to you to be unopposed, to embody both the etheric potential and the playful solidity of Space Monkey?
